Shadow Sanctuary
Somewhere in the Rist Sea
Alderaan

---
"Thank you all for coming." Amani entered the meeting chamber and bowed in reverence to those who had answered the call. Which was… everyone she contacted, actually. She smiled at that thought.

Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el was the one who had inspired her to do this in the first place. He had originally come to her, looking for more allies against the same threats which plagued Alderaan now. "I want to know if you have any fire left in the tank." He had said. Amani downplayed it at the time, but the answer was unequivocally, "Yes."

Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor had already agreed to help. His shadows would prove indispensable in rooting out the corruption the Sith were already spreading across Alderaan. She had long known and respected his father, Caltin. Connel had thus far proved he was more than living up to the legacy: He was carving out a new one.

Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn was Amani's padwan. Of course she was going to show up. Their approaches often clashed, but the crucible of Jedi training had forged a bond of respect between them. Amani trusted her student more than anyone else in this room, and her… unorthodox approach might just prove valuable in the fights to come.

Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania understood the conflicting duties of Royal and Jedi as well as Amani did. But it wasn't just a matter of empathy, it was a matter of perspective. Here, she could offer fresh insights that even the Queen of Alderaan had grown blind to over time. Her skills as a fellow Jedi would prove no less valuable in the fight against evil.

Jonyna Si Jonyna Si was a rebel at heart. Even when the old Jedi Council dissolved, she never gave up the fight. That was the kind of fire that could ignite others to action, the kind that could spur a movement. Amani hadn't seen Jonyna since those days, but she knew of her deeds. A rebel would be just what they need for a fight such as this.

"It's good to see you all again. Especially my fellow council members. We haven't had a proper reunion, have we?" For Amani's part, she was garbed in her old Jedi habit, which she had not touched in years. Over top she worn a royal cloak clasped with an Organa signet brooch, and a chalcedony diadem around her forehead. For the first time, it seemed she had finally embraced both roles together.

"Unfortunately, we all know this isn't just a social call." Hell, they probably wouldn't have all shown up if it was. Not that Amani would have blamed them for that. People like this? Their work never truly ends. "The Sith Covenant want Alderaan. They've been careful to hide their influence, but it is already there."

Amani looked around at each of the gathered faces, her expression inscrutable, "I can't trust my advisors. I can't trust the other Great Houses. Be it out of fear or out of greed, the ranks of Alderaan's leadership have been compromised by the dark side.

But you all are not Alderaanian. And you're all outside of the current power structure in the galaxy. More than that, you're my comrades. My friends. And friends? I could really use your help."
She smiled now. Almost felt like being on the Council again.

Connel stood quietly as everyone was gathered. He was in his full “gear” but everyone in this room who had known him, had already known him with his mask off so there was no need to have that on right now. (Weird to you and me, but makes sense to him, so let’s just go with it ;-)) As the Queen was addressing everyone, Connel was linking his datapad to one of the viewscreens bringing up the schematics of the place, then adding the expansions that will be put in. The Starport will remain, but a separate, larger one will be put in housing Jedi X-wings, as well as Jedi Defender"Class Light Corvettes, Osprey Undercover mission ships, and 6th Generation Jedi Starfighters. There would be an expansion to the Shadow Hall, and more areas of need, all below ground.

The timestamp on these plans were dated before this meeting, before even the initial meeting with Master Serys, so there was no sense at one-upping anyone else simply that a plan was in action.

Connel liked plans.

Omega Squad could be seen out in one of the training areas working with young unaffiliated Jedi. The methods were not perfect, but they were more to teach “unity” and “teamwork” in ways that many did not understand previously. This is the way that they worked, this is the way that Connel worked, and it worked for the others.

It had been a long time since Cora had attended the shadow sanctuary - not since her Alliance days. Those had passed too quickly.

The core had crumbled first to the imperials, next to the Sith. Now their rot was slowly expanding outwards, threatening to swallow Alderaan into darkness.

Knight von Ascania had been the junior-most councilor among the NJO before its collapse. Now, she was a mother with a modest Jedi enclave she managed with her husband.

"Queen Serys, Knight Vanagor,” she tilted her head to the former chief healer, then to the shadow, and to each of the familiar faces in turn. "It's good to see you - all of you. I do wish it had been under less pressing circumstances."

Cora straightened, the white folds of her cloak catching the light as she shifted. Intricate navy detailing edged the hems and crept up the sides, styled in Ukatian embroidery.

Her gaze fixed itself on Amani with a worried little frown.

"We understand that the Sith Covenant has designs upon Alderaan. How far has their influence spread, do you think?"

Eloise arrived quietly, slipping into the room shortly after Cora entered. Her body language was tense and rigid when she first appeared, but as she took her place in the gathering, the tension ebbed away and she began to relax.

This was where she was needed. This was where she could make a difference.

"Master." She bowed to Amani, then glanced at the others with a polite nod. "Masters."

She felt like the odd one out at this meeting, one of the few present who hadn't been on the NJO Council. But she was Amani's Padawan, and she would stand by her in the defense of Alderaan.

"We understand that the Sith Covenant has designs upon Alderaan. How far has their influence spread, do you think?"

"Well, there's a few ways of finding that one out," Jasper chimed in as he entered the chamber. "I don't imagine busting heads is the most tactful way, so you'd want to disregard half of my initial plan ideas."

He offered a soft smile and a wave to all present.

"Been a while," he remarked to some, before he turned to Eloise. "And glad to see that you've recovered well, Miss Dinn."

Alongside Jasper was his younger brother, Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el . Now a knight, one who had spent a great deal of time practicing as a field medic, his purposes for joining were two-fold. Jasper had asked him to come, for starters, but the Sith Covenant was a beast of increasing interest to him. Twice now he had come to blows with Corazona's brother, Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania . Once he came into contact with that fear toxin Darth Nefaron Darth Nefaron had unleashed on Ukatis. He was starting to think less of the passive stance that was defining galactic affairs at the moment.

As the Kai'el brothers entered, Jalen turned his head vaguely in the direction of where he felt Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania in the Force and offered an awkward half-wave.

"Hey..." he muttered.

He'd have to talk with her about her brother at some point. Apologize for fighting him? Maybe. He wasn't sure what the right way around all of that was. Jasper, meanwhile, let his voice fill the air again.

"Well, you already know my stance," the Jedi Master continued. "I've got forces to spare if it gets ugly. Even so, I think we're better not waiting for matters to get to that extreme."

The sooner the better.

Jonyna's arrival had been...quiet.

She'd arrived on the Tenacity with it's stealth systems fully engaged as she entered the system, fully intending to keep herself under the radar. She'd dealt with the Blackwall enough times to know that the Sith played hardball in regards to any intrusion.

And yet, when she finally landed, she felt a wave of familiarity. A bit of deja vu...

The last time she had been on Alderaan, was back during it's first iteration. Back before Farmboy and his journey...

But the Shadow Sanctuary also had a sense of familiarity to it in the feelings in the Force she felt.

As she walked in, faces she knew from what felt like a life ago. The Former Jedi Council, plus a few more. If she was being honest, she wasn't expecting most of them to show.

Only a few were missing now, and she knew it. She felt it. The Nobles. Zark. Ran. Efret.

But she knew what she was here for.

Without a word, she approached the grand table, she pulled her sword, the White Blade of Harmony, and placed it on the table.

"All you have to do is ask, Chief Healer."
She spoke that title as if it was the only one that mattered in this moment. "What's the word then? Hit the sith where it hurts? Put a fleet in defense of Alderaan in orbit? I can do anything you ask, just give me the word."

Amani felt relief settle in her chest. They were invested, they were eager to help. The worst was ahead of them, but this was as optimistic a start as she could hope for.

"We understand that the Sith Covenant has designs upon Alderaan. How far has their influence spread, do you think?"

"As we currently understand it, the Sith are currently attempting to sway some of Alderaan's Great Houses to fall in league with the Covenant. We have no definitive proof yet, but these reports have been corroborated by High Repulic intelligence as well." A holodisplay apparated above the table, showing a map of Alderaan and the surrounding Core and Colonial regions of the galaxy. "This would seem to fall in line with the Covenant's previous occupation strategies. They tend to rule indirectly, giving the impression that they allow these worlds a return to traditional power structures, free from more regulated governments, like the Republic.

Of course, where Sith are concerned, things are never that simple. The leaders they prop up still answer to the Covenant's desires, and supply them with valuable strategic resources."

Another visual came up now, showing the sigils of various Alderaanian Great Houses, highlighting one in particular, "We suspect House Thul is their primary contact on Alderaan. The Thuls have desired the throne for themselves for thousands of years, and rarely have they been afraid to use underhanded tactics to gain it."

"What's the word then? Hit the sith where it hurts? Put a fleet in defense of Alderaan in orbit? I can do anything you ask, just give me the word."

Amani shook her head, "Unfortunately, it's not that simple. There's no evidence the Sith are planning a full-scale invasion of Alderaan, at least not while they still have a chance to seize it from within." The display again returned to the map, now displaying estimates of fleet size and military forces on either side, "And the fact of the matter is, there's no shot we can beat them in open combat with our current strength.

But... we can hurt them in other ways. That's why I wanted to hear from you all. I need people who have resources and strengths that I can't account for. There's no stupid ideas here. Anything you've got, I wanna hear about it."

When the Queen had mentioned bringing up ideas, Connel was reading over his datapad, not to be rude, but there was something about what she said when she was discussing other royal houses that made him think. Looking over his roster, there was a nugget that could work. He considered how these enhancements could be strategically applied to his team, particularly for missions requiring stealth, endurance, or heightened sensory perception.

Paydirt

This facility is “unofficial” and thus none of those training here are officially “here”. I have several options for Shadows to send out, but three in particular. Two of them are younger but I know it would help us… and they are from here on Alderaan and a part of other houses. Pulling up the information and putting it to screen showed a member of House Ulgo, one belonging to House Panteer, and a young one with House Rist.

Talavin Reildie of House Ulgo was older, and actually Knighted. He was one of those training directly with Omega Squad and excelling due to his heritage. He was strong in stealth skills as well as covering his tracks.

Ytsruk Nwolc of House Panteer was middling, more than capable, and more a talker than stealthy.

Frabin Kazzy of House Rist, he still had some ways to go in his training, but he was a natural, and his mother was of a high level of respect in the house, she had connections.

Could work… if only as a start.

"As we currently understand it, the Sith are currently attempting to sway some of Alderaan's Great Houses to fall in league with the Covenant. We have no definitive proof yet, but these reports have been corroborated by High Republic intelligence as well."

Cora lifted her thumb and forefinger to cradle her chin. The corners of her lips dipped in pensive thought.

"Not long ago, the Sith infiltrated Ukatis and instigated a rebellion. They were quiet, nearly undetectable." Her gaze flicked up, back to Amani. "If they are publicly trying sway your Great Houses, then we can assume that there's something more potent going on behind the scenes. Sith play by the rules only when it suits them. If they don't get their way, who knows what tactic they'll turn to next?"

A glance around the room was a reminder that every person here had lived the consequences of those tactics. They carried it in the scars on their bodies, in the lives that had been lost.

Jalen's muted greeting pulled Cora from her fog of thought. "Hey," she said back, offering him a tight smile and a wave in turn.

Caltin's offer piqued the room's interested, and Cora turned to face him, curious. Shadows embedded into the royal houses of Alderaan had immense value. "What do we know about their families? Are they loyal to the crown, or are they at risk of being swayed like House Thul?"

The conversation turned to talking about the Great Houses of Alderaan. Eloise didn't know much about them and didn't really have much experience with nobility in general. She considered making a joke suggestion - that Queen Amani should take care of the problem by simply ordering their deaths - and got as far as smirking at her own dark humor before wisely deciding not to utter it out loud.

"I can do sabotage missions," she said when it was her turn. "Just point me at whatever you want destroyed and I'll make sure it takes a long time for it to recover, if at all."

"Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

Jonyna frowned. The sad fact was, the Wild Space Rebellion, for all of Si Tech's might, wasn't a match for the full might of the Covenant, even if Amani's display didn't show all of her forces. She still kept parts of the Dawn of Hope a secret to even her friends.

Until they were needed, at least.

But it did give her a few ideas.

"We need to draw them out somehow. Cause some commotions around Alderaan they can't ignore. I can call up Vulpesen Vulpesen and the UPSS for reinforcements, and maybe use them as a distracting agent. Have them stage a raid on Alderaan, hitting targets we think are sith related. Kidnap some...folks you don't like, interrogate them, get intel on what the sith are up to. All frame it as a UPSS attack on Alderaan. Give the sith the idea that we're uninvolved."

Jonyna took a moment to rub her chin. She knew better than to hit a sith from only one angle.

"I've got a few interdictors I can throw around. I used them previously to attack Imperial Confederation ships along their hyperlanes. A disruption of their shipping lanes would cause a stir in the royal houses, and if we pick our targets carefully, it would mean we only hurt the sith, and not your people. I can use my own shipping company to bring in any supplies you guys might end up lacking as a result."

Another moment, and she smirked.

"There's also the fact I can throw some mercs their way to do some real rebel chit. I know a few folks who are chomping at the bit for credits."
