SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Crucible Weapon
    • Gun to a knife fight: Blaster bolts modified using this technology dissipate explosively when they hit lightsabers or energy shields, preventing deflection and possibly harming the person being hit
    • Hot knife through butter: Projectiles generated by the crucible are well suited to penetrating armour.
WEAKNESSES
  • Crucible Weapon
    • Fizz: Blaster bolts created by the energy crucible are relatively weak when it comes to actually damaging energy shields
    • Hot hot: If the blaster overheats it may explode as the energy crucible’s magnetic containment field fails. This can result in at best the permanent disablement of the blaster, and at worst the removal of the operator’s hands.
  • Heavy weapon: The Upholder is a heavy weapon, the weight, recoil and need for a power feed make it unusable without either a solid mount or being mounted on a large droid.
DESCRIPTION

The Upholder was initially designed as a modern refit to the rushed armament of the older versions of the F-1a Devastator, replacing the originally rushed loadout of imported weapons as well as a mounted heavy weapon for infantry use. The cannon is very effective at suppressing enemy positions, fortifications and disabling heavy infantry forces, and is most often seen either in support of a CQB force or a defending platoon that needs a bit of cost-effective punch. The weapon also stretches the size limitations of Energy Crucible tech, and can quickly punch through armour to deliver devastating damage to the insides of light vehicles and infantry alike.
