ADVANCED FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • +Overwhelming Firepower: Bringing to bear the cutting edge of GDI weapons technology, the Tython-class Artillery Star Destroyer is capable of unleashing truly devastating amounts of firepower upon her enemies.
  • +Bastion: Designed with the latest in shielding technology and armor panel construction, the Tython is capable of holding the battle line even under extreme duress, much like its namesake which held firm under the onslaught of Mawite hordes during the fall of 876 ABY
  • +Forward Facing: Due to its elongated and sleek design, the Tython-class excels when deployed in a forward-facing configuration - affording it the ability to bring virtually all of its weapon systems to bear.
  • +Steady: Partly due to its size and weight, but mostly due to the implementation of its comprehensive Autosteady Gyro-gimbal system; the Tython-class Artillery Star Destroyer is a very stable heavy weapons platform, remaining quite capable of maintaining its targets under even the most intensive of bombardments.
  • +Monument: Given revolutionary and highly advanced design of this ship system, the Tython-class stands to be a steel-encased monument to the fallen of Tython even as the Galactic Alliance prosecutes its wars against the enemies of freedom and justice in the galaxy.*
WEAKNESSES
  • -Slow: Due to its near-excessive armaments and heavy armor plating, the Tython is comparably slow when weighed against ships of equivalent tonnage.
  • -Cumbersome: Although the Tython adheres to some of the same design principles of the considerably heavier and more specialized Hydian-class Tactical Carrier (namely its sleek, forward facing design), the Tython-class retains many of the same drawbacks. Among them is its below-average maneuverability rating.
  • -Undersized Hangar: To accommodate the expanded armament loadout of the Tython-class, reductions were made to the size and placement of the hangar bay. Its size is suitable only for the most non-strenuous escort and transport duties.
  • -Blindspots: As noted above, the Tython is designed to unleash its full armament in a forward-facing deployment. While this optimal firing arc is quite forgiving angle-wise, it should be noted that should the Tython find itself needing to engage enemies via direct-broadside, its effective damage output reduces not insignificantly. If enemy vessels engage from the rear, the Tython is all but incapable of applying any meaningful damage to ships of equivalent size (give or take a class size up or down) if unaccompanied by support vessels.
  • -Proprietary: Although some third party components and systems are present within the Tython, the vast majority of its inner workings are derived from GDI products, rendering it a highly proprietary ship. While great pains have been taken on the part of both GDI and its prospective customers to alleviate the obvious maintenance and service issues this presents, there is no way to fully erase them.
DESCRIPTION
The Annihilation of Tython was a momentous battle within the Second Great Hyperspace War, which saw the untimely deaths of both titanic heroes and villains alike. Despite the unimaginable loss felt by all of the major powers of the galaxy, Tython was able to stand firm in the face of total destruction. To commemorate this turning point within the war, Guardian Defense Industries is pleased to announce the release of the Tython-class Artillery Star Destroyer (Also known as the Tython-class Artillery Cruiser).

Housing a wide array of both offensive and defensive technologies, the Tython-class is slated to be among the foremost of Alliance battleline starships in its campaign to reclaim and restore the systems lost to the formerly unending tide of Mawite marauders.*

*Please note that while this ship is advertised as part of the Galactic Alliance war machine, that GDI is pleased to make this craft available to customers interested in purchasing it. Removal of Alliance iconography is performed free of charge.

Nicely made, however I feel that the Monument (from the strengths) would have been more appropriate on a Semi-unique ship than on one that could be made in the thousands. This fact takes away its glory.

Approved.
