SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Interchangeable Parts: GDI has established itself as a company based around modularity and ease of maintenance. As a general rule, they have always strived to implement that same hallmark of their brand within even the most complex and specialized of technologies they’ve designed. With respect to the PT-11A, its mass-produced production status renders it among the easiest of weapon systems to maintain and repair if necessary given the plethora of replacement parts available.
  • Ripple Fire: Similar to larger weapon platforms based around the ‘pulse’ tech line of turbolasers, the PT-11A possesses a strong balance between rate of fire and effective range, able to delivery the same consistent firepower whether right alongside an enemy vessel, or at the max extent of its range.

STRENGTHS
  • +Interchangeable Parts: (See special features)
  • +Ripple Fire: (See special features)
  • +Workhorse: While not as hard hitting or massive as more intimidating weapon platforms, nor as agile as dedicated point defense weaponry, the PT-11A fills the role of a medium-grade capital weapon, providing adequate stopping power to make targets take pause (particularly if fired en-masse), while shining with regard to rate of fire and range. Overall, this weapon can be considered a workhorse weapon platform, affording its host ship a level of versatility for a variety of tactical situations.

WEAKNESSES
  • -Master of None: As mentioned earlier, the main strength of this weapon platform is the level of versatility it provides to its host ship. This is a case of a strength also serving as a weakness, for the PT-11A does not particularly shine in any major sense. Yes, it provides above average rate of fire, and consistent stopping power at range, but neither of those traits are distinct enough to make this a mainline ship armament - but rather, a role player at best to fill gaps and help cover major weaknesses of more pronounced weapon systems.
  • -Did you feel that?: This has been touched on, but this weapon is not considered an overly powerful weapon. While not deficient in its damage output, its per-shot stopping power is not something to be relied upon. The only threat this weapon system poses is if it can fire en-masse alongside multiples of itself, or other weapon systems. In other words, this weapon is a ‘death by a thousand cuts’ type of platform.
  • -Energy Hog: While not as energy-demanding as larger, more overpowering weapon systems on its own, if a ship were to equip this platform en-mass (as is the intent of its design), it should be noted that the power requirements of utilizing this system is not insignificant. A robust reactor system is recommended, particularly if additional, more high powered weapon systems are being utilized.

DESCRIPTION

While Guardian Defense Industries (and subsequently its subsidiary Guardian Defense Engineering) has established itself as a rising player within the starship manufacturing industry by virtue of its unique, high powered weapon systems - many of the company’s critics have long said that it is high time they ‘return to their roots’ and develop more standardized technologies. Otherwise, many believe the company would be reliant on their competitors to round out their catalog in a bid to rush into the starship manufacturing process. In a surprising instance of market awareness, GDI has announced the release of the PT-11A Pulse Quad Turbolaser Battery; designed to fill the niche of a workhorse weapon system capable of posing a threat to nearly any class of starship, particularly if grouped in significant numbers. Although the design of this platform is intended for the mass-produced market, the latest news being released to the public indicates GDI intends to retain its market rights for exclusive sale and use, indicating a protectionist mindset as it pursues its fledgling starship development program.

Only time will tell if said strategies will pay off. Meanwhile, the performance of the weapon system itself is promising compared to similarly classified weapon systems, with a noted improvement in performance with regard to rate of fire, and damage application while at the extent of its range. Focus groups among starship engineers have classified this weapon as a workhorse, capable of functioning at a high level even after suffering abuse common to battlefield settings.
