Travel to the Maze: A Business Summit

Hapes had under gone reconstruction after their planet had had suffered invasion and defeat. The Free Worlds Coalition offered them assistance. They took it because it was felt by the Queen to be needed for the time being.

The Hapan people gritted their teeth and agreed with their Queen. Their privacy invaded they thought it had finished.

They were wrong.

The Coalition asked if they would host a Business Conference/Summit for companies wishing to do business or already doing business with Hapan businesses and to help build the economy of Hapes. Some of this made Melanctha laugh first these companies would have to traverse the transitory mists to even get to the cluster, let alone to the heart of the Consortium. And that was dependent upon them evading the pirates which had returned.

The Coalition engaged the services of Didact Defense Solutions under the ownership of one [member="Itash Mecetti"] . They would probably rob them blind that was the Hapan in her talking trust no one. Hapans preferred to cloak and dagger their own people not have it done for them but then many of these attendees were not their people so what harm would it do to have the off worlder watch them. If he did.

The list of companies, and individuals looking for work was long. Glancing over it she wondered how many of them would make it to Hapes.

She would find it quite enlightening to know.

Then to top it off there was a speaker a miss @ra'a'mah from the Coalition? What would she know about Hapes? There was no topic, typical.

EH she thought she would lose her mind over this conference or it would kill them all.

They had the conference set for a large center mean to house conferences. The entry welcomed the visitors and already vendors were set up to provide leaflets, a floor plan, food and drink vendors. Everyone to have a visitor feel welcome. Lease Mel hoped that what they felt.

Ideas for your stories
1. Hapes has a problem with pirates you might get raided. Pirates will take prisoners for slaves.
3. Salvage anything you can from the ships that have been abandoned in the mists if that is your business
4. Make deals with others at the Conference
5. Network to build contacts and Business.
6. Some of the 'visitors' have decided to rob local merchants, you're either a robber, or someone stopping them.
7. A group of tourists are trying to gain entry to the palace.
8. Bring your own objective.

There will be no DM for this rp, have fun! Questions, feel free to ask.

Prepare for your... examination.
Lab may have not looked like a venerate explorer, you know, the type with that looked all roughed up and decked in battle worn armor and carrying around a small arsenal of weapons. No lab was not that type, she got around with smarts, avoiding places where raiders would, well raid, making sure not to get into trouble and never staying in one place more then necessary.

So when talk of a business summit run the the Free Worlds came up she was there in a light speed flash, well not that but still in quick succession, the FWC being good business partners in the past allowing her to expand her company. She had once been able to sign a production contract with them before, perhaps that would happen again, after all with new threats rising the the fall of the Metal Lords realm attaining security 'assets' was key.

Wandering into the meeting area it seemed that she was the first to arrive, well the first guest to arrive, only [member="Melanctha Dallamoor"] being of any notice, all the other more or less servants and event coordinators. "A quaint little gather so far, hope I meet some familiar faces around here, would be awkward to run into a Confederacy or Sovereignty Representative.

Hapans were notoriously bigoted and made even the most unreasonable Tapani seem like a xenophile worshiper, but they were rich and desperate.

It had only been a few years ago that some kind of force-construct (a spirit?) had rampaged through its capital city, forcing some of its denizens to worship it, destroying much in the progress and even slaughtering many of the royals and nobles. The Free World Coalition tried, but it wasn't surprising that it decided to pull in the corporations to assist with restoration efforts. Every time a government and a nation was incapable of doing things themselves they engaged the Corporate world.

This made sense to Tash.

If you can't handle something yourself, then simply throw enough money at the problem until it went away. Didact Defense Solutions had been hired en masse to provide security for the Coalition in these trying times, this also made sense to Tash, because anything that put a credit chit in his pocket usually did.

Ship security was provided for those that requested it too and many did. The mists were dangerous with the Hapan attention focusing inward.

An opportunity that any intelligent being would not dare miss. Hapes was opening its arms to any company that would bring in a new era of economic strength to the planet. The hapans were a simple people, truthfully. They traditionally valued beauty over most things. But, Cadyssia knew that, deep down somewhere, they enjoyed the thrills and adrenaline pumping feeling that the Galactic Shockball League would bring them.

Cady came with a proposition for the Hapan people that would bring them out of the dark ages and into the Golden Age. She was fully prepared to share details with whomever was the proper authority on such details.

At the first mention of a corporate gathering on Hapan, Errreembuhr had his ship prepared for travel, bringing with him the full Krayt-class light cruiser. Piracy was indeed a threat in the area, or so he had heard, and despite the talk of security forces being present he would take no chances. After all this was about his business, and making connections, and to that effect the light cruiser had been loaded up with various goods that EODD produced.

That would be his goal here. EODD's expansion could be greatly advanced by this conference, and he looked forward to the guest speakers, as there was a great deal more that he could learn about making business deals from more experienced company owners. Of course, if he simply walked away with a contract to sell some guns to another of the galaxy's many factions, he would still be leaving happy.

With his cruiser stationed in orbit and its anti-starfighter weaponry on alert for any potential threats, Errreembuhr's shuttle departed for the planet surface, his mind set on success.

Hapes actually wanting outsiders?

There was a miracle. A miracle Vanessa was sure was too good to be true. Vanessa's goals were to acquire a disabled Hapan Battle Dragon and the many Miy'til starfighters still inside it - the rumor was that one floated inside the nebulous mists. Some Tyzzeph-class Gas Miners were also here to mine the nebula gas for use in fusion reactors. There was plenty to go around, after all.

"Alright... Do we have any idea where this thing is?" Vanessa inquired of her ship's captain.

"No idea. All we know is that it's somewhere in the mists, perfectly preserved."

"Alright - let's get to searching, then."

With that, fighter wings were launched from the Ablution as they began standard patrol patterns. The ship was alone as to not arouse hostility, though Vanessa was certain the nebular gas would cause significant issues to anyone hostile attempting to detect anything. After all, she had gone through the trouble of clearing her salvage mission with Hapes planetary authorities. If things went hostile - well, the Traya was ready to jump in and provide broad-spectrum jamming while the Ablution exited the system.

Hapes. One of a handful of places GenPals had found it difficult to get a toe hold. Not the only place by far, but certainly a challenge. Culture ran deep and fads had a difficult time gaining traction there. She'd first heard about the summit from [member="Itash Mecetti"], and in truth, Didact's contact to secure the venue was part of what brought her off of Etti IV for the event at all.

Since the occurrence, the only time Cass stepped out of her familiar haunts was with Didact out enforce. It had been a natural reaction to everything that had happened (with some added mental weight from Tash to re-enforce the inclination, but Cassandra was still as yet unaware of his capabilities within the Force). Even here, knowing he was taking care of the details, she did not shrug off her two personal guards as she had done in the past. That was a mistake she would not make twice. She had informed Tash of her intention to attend, and they had promised to meet if time permitted. He would be, she understood, very busy.

Skill, luck, the watchful eye of Didact, or some combination of the three meant that the GenPals yacht traversed the mists without mishap. It was the first time Cass, even with a family as rich and matriarchal as her own, had ever visited Hapes and despite the quiet hardness that had developed over the last month since Raykka, she was interested to see just what all the fuss was about.

Dressed in green (courtesy of [member="Damian Starchaser"] of Chase Fasions) and flanked by two burly men, Cassandra paused in the entry way of the conference center and accepted a small bill of events from the greeter. With a small nod of thanks, the redhead stepped forward, heading inside.

[member="Cassandra Paige"]

It didn't take long for a figure to detach himself from the crowd and approach the woman in the green dress.

One Itash Mecetti with another entourage of Didact troopers. This conference was heavier guarded than most settings like these would, but to a degree that requirement by the Hapan had made sense. It only took one prospective Force God rampaging through your capital city to make everyone a bit on edge. The fact that they had wanted outside assistance only underlined that.

"Miss Paige, you look lovely as always." He'd make his bow and extend his arm so she could put her hand in it. The usual dance, the usual smiles and postures, a ritual they had perfected across all these months.

Oh, he would be busy, yes, but ever since it had happened?

Itash couldn't help but take any opportunity possible.

His men were everywhere here and taking a few moments to converse with Cass wouldn't suddenly summon a second Force God. If it did? Well, then Tash would be simply happy to be closer to the exit.

"I hope your journey here was safe?" His eyes never even left hers to watch the Didact guards behind her.

Prepare for your... examination.
The sound of chatter and foot steps filled the auditorium as more and more people slowly arrived, individuals representing their own private enterprises as well as nobles and powerful figures looking to purchases. Despite this the whole event felt small in comparison to the last summit she had attended, not only where there less people, but less affluent ones too, aside from Itash Mecetti, but from the looks of things he was one of the few higher ups attending the summit.

"Well it is better then these pirate attacks I keep hearing about, still seems a little boring, I hope more people arrive". It was to be expected though, with all the current wars going on most people were preoccupied, even the neutral factions, themselves trying to deal with the stream of refugees and marauders that now flooded the galaxy. As such all she could do was mill around and observe the new arrivals, trying to pick out those she could potential discuss business with, or just have an enjoyable talk to pass the time.

An invitation to speak at the business conference was extended to Ra and she accepted the offer. It came as quite a surprise actually, but she hoped she wouldn't disappoint those attending. Through her life Ra had more or less been a mover from the shadows and not one to have the spotlight on her. Today was going to be an exception to the rule.

Over the years of being a small merchant to what she was now, maybe the attention paid to her shouldn't be so surprising. As she prepared herself, Ra attempted to calm the nerves she had by pacing the room she was in. A small pad in her hand held the speech she had ready to go and as she walked back and forth. Pausing a moment to look at herself in a mirror that had been provided, she put on her professional smile and started reciting what she had written.

"Thank you for this opportunity..."

Grumbling to herself already, Ra shook her head and there was no real amount of preparation that would make her fully ready for today. When she felt she was calmed down enough to leave the room, she headed in the direction of the various conversations she heard going on.

Her hair was down and she wore some more formal than what she would normally wear while on the job. This was business though so she wasn't dressed as if she were going to a ball, but in a pant suit with white shirt under her jacket. In the chest pocket of that jacket was what looked like a pocket square with gold and blue to signify her ties to the Free Worlds Coalition.

It had been far too long since Asteria deWinter had thought of Hapes. A fascinating planet, to say at least, one that once sparked interest in her and yet, she had never gone to see it for her own eyes even though Angelo could have very well given her a tour in those days. Long since had passed and less and less time was to spare for the businesswoman, especially since she had been entrusted with the Red Lady so long ago. Now though, the news of a Sumit taking place there had caught her attention and she had without a second though reached out to the organizers to ensure herself and Oeana a seat there. Every day was a chance for new business alliances and to spread once a sphere of power. Asteria refused to waste any given opportunity to bring the Red Lady back on the map as it had been before the dark times.

With the Ice Princess docked, the two women set out towards the conference center. Once there, they were approached by someone of the staff, handed out details of the event. Oeana Janin, her assistant, reached for them before they continued on their way inside, the Near-Human woman studying the information given while Asteria took to looking around. Lady deWinter noted a familiar face, that of @Itash Mercetti , the man whose company was ensuring the safety of her employees on Coruscant, and and the beautiful woman she noticed at one point or another at the Charity event on Coruscant.

Never the less, today was a day for new meets and possible business deals, she wouldn't bother the man for the time being. "Let us mingle and see who's who," she instructed her assistant, who only gave a nod as she rose her head from the agenda. "There is a special note of a keynote speaker. It will be starting shortly," Oeana informed her. "Very well, we'll attend that," Asteria responded as they continued further in.

She wasn't the host really she was the representative that was supposed to smile and say nice things. She felt she'd do better as a statue that stood in the center of the room holding pamphlets with a recording that said, "Welcome to Hapes, have a program, conference hall to your left, exhibitors to your right. Restrooms down the hall."

No smile, Hapans didn't smile they were passive emotions were precious and only shared with those who deserved such a gift. Privacy. yes in private. She knew that many of them and them being anyone not from the Consortium. any they made jokes about them in private she heard rumors that there were penny dreadfuls about them and them meaning Hapans.

But.

She would try not to be judge mental she would try to do something that benefited her home. Begrudgingly she went down into the conference room. They best not expect her to smile, no.

The security headed by this Mr. Mecetti seemed on top of it. She hoped.

Well the speaker would be starting soon maybe she could get lost in the darkness of the auditorium where she spoke. Yes that would be pleasant. Melanctha smoothed her skirts she had to appear perfect. Black suited her and her emotional state.

"Ma'am, we've found something." One of the bridge staff said. "Signal is sporadic, but it's there."

"Good." Vanessa replied. "Move in for a closer look." She said. The Ablution penetrated further through the Transitory Mists, and as the bridge crew watched, the target came out of the mists like a wraith, a spectre of some sort. The Hapan Battle Dragon bore tremendous amounts of scars across its red spaceframe from debris within the Mists that had pelted its unshielded hull. Large amounts of charring near the engines indicated rather clearly that the ship had been disabled prior to being abandoned, though with the resources available, Vanessa was certain that it could be repaired - at least to partial functionality.

"Red? Odd color for a Battle Dragon. Captain, do we have any information in the galactic records regarding a red Battle Dragon?" The captain turned to a terminal, searching for whatever information he could regarding such a ship.

"There is mention of a red Battle Dragon historically in the records of the Galactic Alliance. A ship called the Song of War was a highly advanced red Battle Dragon that served as the flagship of the Hapan Royal Navy. It disappears from the records around the time of the second Galactic Civil War, after Isolder's reported death." He said. "Check the ship's identity on the transponder."

"Confirmed." A tactical officer responded. "This is the Song of War. What happened to her?"

"The damage to the engines seems consistent with a limpet mine-type device. Placed under the shields, it would have caused severe damage to the engines, possibly enough to force them to abandon the ship in the Mists." Vanessa concluded. "How fortunate for us. Send a boarding team over to restore power to the ship. We'll have a prize crew man it once we can get the engines repaired." She sighed. "I'm still deciding whether we should keep this vessel or provide it to the Hapes Consortium as a gift - a token of our good will." She replied.

Such a decision would... perhaps depend on how the planetary forces responded to their significantly belated arrival. Shuttles began to be dispatched from the Ablution's hangar bay towards the hulk.

It was time to see what she had to work with.

Cass has been looking over the pamphlets at a booth focused on media presence when she felt the slight shift in direction of attention of her guards. She turned, following their attention to [member="Itash Mecetti"]. Stepping away from the booth, she met him half way, easily offering him her hand- the right, real one- when he held his out.

"Lord Mecetti, thank you, a pleasure to see you here," she murmured with a small smile. Oh, they were more familiar in private, but this was part of the game.

"Not a single hiccup," she said in answer to his query.

"Your Didact has done a very good job in securing the area, but then, they have always been exemplary."

She was aware of what Didact had sacrificed to get her out of that facility on Raykka. She had always been polite to his employees, if nothing else because they were his- and just as she would not tolerate someone else mistreating her employees, the same courtesy was extended to the men of Didact. But since Raykka she had gone from polite to appreciative, and the change was noticeable.

"While I have every faith in your ability to handle anything that comes, I hope it's been nothing too difficult?"

It was one thing when Itash was the one reaching out.

Always the prosthetic.

But when the offer was his to make, it was within her control what she wanted to present in the moment. Such was their game and such was the little subtlety that they slowly developed between the two of them. The hand was easily brought to his lips, a familiar kiss brushing her knuckles before taking one more step in. Invading the personal presence she always held around herself in a way that Tash never did in private.

His hand touched her prosthetic, rubbing the edge of it, as he leaned inwards to whisper something confidential in her ear.

Then Tash retreated once more- all of it in the span of a few moments, easily missed, easily forgotten- and the polite smile had returned in kind. "Oh, it is certainly a challenge, but all worthy things are in my experience." Itash retorted smoothly, before offering his arm for her to hook around. This way they could walk the place and share conversation at the same time.

"There is an Arkanian scientist here today." The Tapani shared softly as they walked. "Recently left Adacorp, because of a disagreement on... ethics."

"Might be a good candidate for 01."

They had become rather familiar with Junction 01 after all.

Errreembuhr's attempts to mingle at events in the past had often been met with failure. Most saw his chest rig and couldn't tell whether he was more wookiee than droid or vice versa. But here, surrounded by folk who cared more about what you could buy from or sell to them than what you looked like, things were far more relaxed.

As he helped himself to a drink he found himself near a Twi'lek that was an unfamiliar face, though in perspective, nearly all here were unfamiliar faces. Still, with his purpose here being to make business connections and learn from colleagues and competitors, he figured it wouldn't hurt to make an introduction.

"Good evening," he said through the robotic-sounding translation device. "Are these business conferences often held in such hard to get to systems? The mists aren't the funnest thing to navigate."

An experienced traveler, Director Miel Tevv of the Sullust based SoroSuub Corporation was not used to feeling out of place wherever he ended up. Hapes was proving to be an exception.

None of their hosts had been outright rude to him per say, but he had certainly felt somewhat ignored from the moment they had arrived. Perhaps he was just being over-analytical in light of their reputation, but more than once he believed he had caught flashes of surprise briefly cross the faces of some of the Hapan nobility he had been introduced to when they discovered his senior position at SoroSuub. It was to be expected, most of the natives he had met were well meaning but had spent so long in a society dominated by near-humans that was difficult for them to look at more exotic species as anything more than a curiosity.

That's why he had let his right hand and deputy, Nathanos Darksword take the lead so far in representing their corporation socially. Nathanos' story was one of riches to rags back to riches, and ever since they had arrived in Consortium space during the initial diplomatic negotiations with Alderaan Miel's friend and colleague had been reveling in his chance to rejoin Hapan high society after so long away from his home in the Cluster. Maybe a little too much, from the slight slur to his speech and the way he jostled his cocktail boisterously.

Miel was dressed much less ostentatiously than the finely silken ware of his business partner, but the make of his formal tunic and slacks were equally high quality material. So far, they were content to mingle among the assembled guests, perhaps forge a contact or two. Industrious Sullustans were always interested in pursuing business partnerships or corporate contracts, and were much less scrupulous about religion and politics than their partners in the Alliance. Director Tevv resolved, however, to do his level best at keeping Nathanos sober enough to pay a respectable tribute to their host, Duch'a [member="Melanctha Dallamoor"] before too long.

Prepare for your... examination.
Lab idly took sip of her drink while milling around, during the time more people had shown up, an AE representative which gave her a very worried feeling, the stories of how blood thirsty and ware like the small new nation was, and of course Ra herself. It would seem though luck was on the Twi'leks side, a robotic sounding voice coming from behind, what more said individual being a Wookie, a cyborg Wookie, a rather interesting sight.

"Well no, the last one held by the Metal Lords a while back on, what was left of Correlia was much easier to attend, not sure what the whole deal with this place is". Stepping forward the doctor extended her arm, reaching for a hand shake, not really bothered by the man's looks, herself facing a bigger monsters before and being a surgeon that had been present for many cybernetic procedures. "Well my name is Labkarhip Mordulla, but most people just call me Lab, and yes i am aware of the pun, Lab doctor all that and so forth, may I ask yours"?

Teams boarded the red Battle Dragon. The vessel’s interior was apparently rather intact according to the prize crew, and they were soon able to activate the ship’s emergency power. Lights flickered across the board before the external automated defenses activated, Hapan ion cannons and turbo lasers firing from the ship on the Ablution. The vessel was reporting fluctuations across the board.

“Should we open fire?”

“Negative! Commander, get the automated defenses off!” A barrage of torpedoes struck the Pluton’s shields. The fire continued for some time, power redirected to the shields of the Ablution as it continues to weather the ancient warship’s bombardment.

Eventually, the firepower ceased. “Lady Vantai, we have the ship under control. Weapons are disabled and the hyperdrive is operable, as is one of the engines. We should be able to move in to Hapes with it under impulse power if you can tractor beam us alongside you.”

“Acknowledged. Helm, please lock our tractor beams on the enemy ship.” Vanessa said as a stream of energy did so, the Ablution moving out of the Transitory Mists towards Hapes proper.

“Get the schematics of that ship off of the vessel’s computers and bring me anything else of note you can find.” She would not leave anything useful for a Hapan janitor to pluck off the bridge.

Oh the joy.

Melanctha moved with grace simple steps taking slowly to provide an air of gliding rather than trudging along. She saw the smiling faces as some turned to extend a greeting, she didn't want to be extremely rude just polite rude.

She nodded the first smile she tried looked more like a grimace of pain truth be told it was painful. She looked to her feet if only to take her mind off of the requirements as the face of the Consortium for this Coalition event.

Anyone who knew her understood had the information needed to understand her dour mood. She had been brought up unlike many other Hapans. She had been sent to Coruscant to study where she had met a young Jedi in training, a young Hapan at that.

It was long ago now. No need to dwell on the past but still having all of these Core members moving around her home reminded her of what was missing. That was not their business.

Mel put a bit of steel into her spine standing rigid trying to be imposing. Businesses wanted to talk, they wanted contracts, so they needed a Hapan with some connection to help them accomplish this. She could make deals on behalf of the Queen.

Word reached her quickly that a representative from SoroSuub was at the Conference. She knew this company and its reputation. They were considered acceptable to do business with based upon their history and reputation.

She should go and find them but...well if they wanted to do business the representative would find her.
