Together with her husband, Valery walked through the hallways of the AVS Tython, the ship under command of Captain Izah'zore. She had two blasters strapped to her hips for the first time on a mission with Kahlil, and kept her ligttsabers close too. She felt a little bit proud that she was finally ready to use her blasters out in the field and show him her progress, but it wasn't as easy to enjoy today. Scouts had revealed Sith activity in the Outer Rim and Tingel arm, and while the nature of that activity wasn't clear yet, she already had a bad feeling about it.

Both Nobles had confronted this new Sith Order already, and seen first hand what kind of desrruction they are capable of. What they did to the Aing-tii, and how they hunted down the Epicanthix survivors. So few were spared, and she believed this was only the beginning. They were still growing and expanding, increasing in power and influence
.

It was worrying.

"We'll meet with the Captain and hopefully plan a response. Maybe learn more about what they are up to out here, hm? Any guesses?" Valery sighed and seemed a little more tense than usual. These were supposed to be times of peace, but she already felt like she was preparing for war all over again.

"How are you feeling about all of this?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"We both knew it was a matter of time before their activities picked up. If anything, we've delayed this too long after the Aing-Tii. But the Alliance needed it's rest. Can't afford that now, though." Kahlil glanced down to Valery with a faint smile. It was necessary, but now so was this. War was coming. And the Alliance was going to be prepared this time without someone from within trying to rip it apart.

"As for what they're doing, consolidating power most likely. The Maw, The Sith Empire, The Warlords, others, the Sith have been scattered and fighting each other. Even this group had it's problems. But once they're unified, that will be a problem for us all."

For once, his smile didn't entirely reassure her. She knew that this was coming, but she had really hoped to raise their kids in times without an incredibly destructive war looming over the galaxy. But perhaps that's why it was better that they were addressing things now, before it was too late to stop them. "Yeah I know. Let's hope the Alliance also responds to the threat how they should." All of their findings today combined with what others discovered would hopefully make a convincing case.

If it didn't, then they were truly doomed. Not that it would stop the Sword and Shield from doing the right thing.

"That's what I thought, but why all the way out here? They are so far away from where the Sith Order popped up and attacked the Aing-Tii." Quite literally the opposite side of the Galaxy.

"Don't you find that odd?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"No, I don't."

Kahlil stepped forward to the star map, glancing through the planets. Home. It wasn't Panatha, but it was home. He pointed right for one of the two planets the Sith would never let go of if they had the choice. The one they'd go for once they had the power to get it.

"Dromund Kaas is a symbol. With it, they'll be able to show the other Sith they're in control. Unite the stragglers that they can. If they take back this space, they'll be able to take control of everything."

"An old symbol, far away from home," the cold voice of Captain Izah'zore chimed in, as she entered the room and looked at the map. Her gaze was as cold as her speech, without emotion and with barely any recognition for the two Jedi on her ship. "How would they sustain anything out here?" The woman then challenged before finally stepping closer.

She looked between the two Jedi, paused a moment, then dipped her head. "Captain Izah'zore. Welcome to the AVS Tython."

Valery blinked and briefly looked at her husband before turning back to the woman. "Thanks for having us. I wasn't expecting the Alliance to send a ship like this to help already. They've felt more...hesitant after the war ended."

"We take threats to our home very seriously, Master Jedi. But all we have are scouts and small convoys. Why is this worth my time here?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"For the Sith, the older the better. It means they've lasted. Dromund Kaas has been glassed, bombarded, and genocided time and time again. And every time, the Sith rebuild it and reclaim it. It is the seat of power in the Galaxy for them, and their faithful. Doesn't matter how hard it is to sustain, they'll make it work. Even on the backs of slaves." During the Sith Empire, slavery was illegal, but it didn't mean they didn't find ways to find loopholes. And now without the Empire, there were no lines for them to cross left.

Kahlil offered a brief smile to the Twi'lek before dipping his head. "Kahlil."

"I know who you both are," she said without offering a smile in return, while she briefly shifted the datapad she held between arm and hio, suggesting she had read up on the two Jedi Masters. "But it seems our ancestors have failed us, then. Perhaps they should have handled this symbol how you handled Exegol." Her eyes started at Kahlil, then shifted to his wife, and Valery knew exactly what she was trying to say.

"We didn't cause the planet's destruction," she said very matter-of-factly, but only Kahlil would be able to feel her underlying frustration.

"Hmm," the Twi'lek began, clearly not convinced. "Of course not. Then you should have," she said before turning to Kahlil again while Valery stared daggers at the woman. "My reports have indicated several active convoys, or potentially even patrols. We can bypass them to head for Dromund Kaas instead, if you believe that's where they will be."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"The destruction of a planet ended the war, but in turn it will only breed more hate. A Sith thrives off hate." Treating them any differently was dangerous on it's own. Anything they could twist to their advantage, they would. He simply gave the woman a bored expression though. She was picking a fight, and he had little care for it. Right now what mattered was dealing with the Sith and their threats.

"Dromund Kaas will be their ultimate goal, but how direct they go for it we'll have to see. By following the patrols."

"But it also blinds them, and turns them into the animals they really are," the Twi'lek countered, uncaring about the Jedi's expressions she was getting. She would work with them both, but she wasn't personally very fond of these protectors of the Alliance. She sure as hell wouldn't trust her ship and crew to their senses, or their perception of what the next best moves were.

Military intelligence would have to guide her actions, as well as the senate and military command.

"The patrols are quite spread out, but there is one other piece to this puzzle. We have also discovered small outposts, some in the Tingel arm. We could start there as well?" Valery asked while she looked between the two, but the Twi'lek was quick to ask a question that she needed answered.

"And do what exactly? Take them down? Risk a conflict that escalates?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

She didn't like them.

All things considered, he wasn't too much of a fan of her either so far. Dismissive and far too demeaning towards the Sith. Underestimating their foe was just a quick way to get blindsided. It showed in his eyes just how annoyed he was with her attitude. His gaze shifted to Valery, listening to her for a moment, then again looked back towards the Twi'lek as she spoke up once more.

"Scout first. Learn what their intentions are first before we go after them."

Oh, he was annoyed with the Twi'lek. Valery shot him a quick glance from the corners of her eyes, and she just couldn't help but feel one corner of her lips tugging up into a smirk. Not because of what was being said, since it was so serious, but she didn't often see him agitated by people like this. Then again, the woman was underestimating a serious threat.

A threat nobody understood as well as Kahlil did. Even Valery felt that she didn't.

"Then I propose we don't jump straight for Dromund Kaas. We would alarm them not just to our presence, but our awareness of them as well. We could follow a scouting party?" She asked, and Valery hummed a little in response.

"Could use one to even get us down on the planet maybe? Stow away or we take a small craft." A risky plan, she knew, so she looked at her husband for his input.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"That is what I was suggesting, yes."

Kahlil fought the urge to roll his eyes and instead focused on the map. The reported scouts were all around Sith Space, enough to make him think there were far more than just the amount in the reports. Hell, he hadn't heard a lot about the Ashlan's as of late. The government fell, but they were occupying the Sith holy worlds in force. He frowned at that thought.

"What about the Ashlan's? Any contact?"

Valery pushed her lips forward at this point to stop her smirk from showing. Not that it would hide her amusement from him, but she didn't want anything to escalate. So instead, she focused on the map as well, trying to come up with alternatives to the plan that they may have overlooked so far. But Kahlil did the same, and asked a question that probably wouldn't have come to mind at all, even though she had been on Dromund Kaas once when the Ashlans targeted it.

"Not a word," Captain Izah'zore said, however.

"That's not a good sign at all. Maybe the Sith showed up with a lot more force than we anticipated," Valery said with a frown, her eyes briefly shifting to Kahlil.

"There is only one way to find out. If you are both ready, I'll head up to the bridge and coordinate our jump into compromised territory. You both could remain here or join me on the bridge," she said before pausing a moment. "Just don't get in the way," she added with that same cold tone and emotionless stare.

Valery just perked a brow in response and looked at her husband.

Kahlil_Div2.png

That was alarming. The Ashlan's hadn't been able to keep their influence, that much was already known, but for them to go utterly silent meant something was truly wrong. What, exactly, he wasn't sure. But not he needed to know. He was pretty quick to follow to the bridge, more curious on everything that was going on, but at the last comment he just sighed. Of course.

"We're here to help, Captain. I suggest you remember that before you burn down the bridge between the Jedi and the Alliance."

"My suggestion was purely practical, Master Jedi," Izah said with only a brief look spared in his direction. "My personnel has been working hard out here after we received our first reports regarding the Sith. I will not allow their focus to be broken." Valery perked a brow and placed a hand against Kahlil's shoulder as they followed the woman to the bridge. She was an odd one, a little difficult to read, but sadly all they had out here.

This was the ship the Alliance had out here to investigate.

Eventually, the three reached the bridge, where a crew of various species were working behind their stations. On entry, they stood at attention for the Captain, only to be relieved a moment later. There was no time for formalities, she wanted to get going and instructed her crew to plot a course.

"On the display in front of you, we're tracking ships that match our database on the Sith so far. It's likely not complete, but it already shows us enough," she told the two Jedi, as several small blobs of red signals appeared throughout the region they were scanning.

"We can begin our search along a hyperlane, or perhaps closer to the planets themselves?" she asked, but as the two Jedi stared at the display, they'd both feel a growing sense of danger. Tension in the Force was rising.

<You feel that as well?>

"This is one of the most modern ships of the fleet. We're quite sa-" Her words died in her throat, as suddenly every light and display on the bridge shut down. A single look out through the viewscreens, and they'd be able to see that it wasn't just the bridge that suffered from whatever was going on. All across the ship, power had shut off, and only with some emergency generators booting up, faint red lights began to illuminate the rooms, and certain critical panels.

"We can tell," Valery commented with a quick look in Kahlil's direction.

"Captain, all major systems are offline. We have no weapons, no shields, no engines... we're adrift," one of the human crew members said, before he noticed something else on his display. "Some of those Sith signals are changing directions, Ma'am. They're heading straight for us."

Izah's gaze became even colder, as she turned to the two Jedi, "The only way for this to happen is from the engineering deck. I believe we might have unwanted visitors."

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil turned and already started heading out towards the engineer deck. Sabotage. They were in a trap. Of course they were in a trap. He let out a heavy sigh. Of course there was a trap. The Sith probably had their spies already in the Alliance. Which meant they needed to figure some things out, namely how to keep this person alive, whoever it was behind the sabotage.

"We'll handle the visitors. Just don't get in the way, mm?"

While the Captain stared daggers in his direction, Valery couldn't stop a single snort from making it out in the otherwise silent room. It drew the Captain's eyes directly to her, so she was quick to step behind her husband to hide the stupid grin she couldn't hope to suppress. Kahlil wasn't often agitated, nor did he take too many jabs at other people. But when he did, it was always hilarious.

As soon as they left the bridge, Valery was back to being serious, and only shot him a knowing smile, as they began to rush through the hallway. "With power out, we'll have to use the emergency shafts. So...we'll have to climb our way down," she said with a sigh. The panel for the shaft was right by the turbolift, and with a little bit of effort, she managed to get it off.

"I'm not sensing any Sith or Dark Siders, so we might be dealing with saboteurs who can hide among the crew a lot easier," Valery then said, before she let him start climbing down first, so she was right above him on the ladder. "There could be a lot more of them."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I'm less worried about the lack of power and more worried about the limit of air." Having to rush and run towards the engine room would certainly use more. A ship this large would be fine in the long term, but once they hit that limit, there was going to be trouble. The only saving grace was that there were enemy ships on the way. They wouldn't run out of air before they were blown up.

Hazzah.

Burring that grim thought he slipped down the ladder, glancing up towards Valery only briefly.

"Maybe, but we'll deal with it. We just need to get power running. Once we do, the traitors will have to come to us to disable it again."
