HYPERLANE INFORMATION
HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Speed: High
  • Accessibility: The existence of the Via Imperius is only known to high officials within the Sith Empire, such as the Imperial High Command and those deemed trustworthy enough to know.
  • Route Hazards: The hyperlane draws dangerously close to two of the Sith Empire's enemy, the Silver Jedi Order, and the neutral Commenor Systems Alliance. Any Imperial ship moving down this hyperlane runs the risk of being intercepted by vessels belonging to either of those two governments. The route also suffers from several lawless entities that have made their home among the neutral systems, alongside the typical perils of hyperspace travel such as purrgil and other space-faring creatures.
  • Rest Stops: There are no official Imperial stops along the Via Imperius, although any of the neutral systems directly in its path can serve as a rest point.
DESCRIPTION

As the enemies of the Empire melted away before its meteoric rise, the Sith were given free rein to expand, consolidate, and grow stronger with every galactic rotation. Bereft of any real enemy, the Empire constantly looked beyond its immediate borders for an alleviation of the restlessness that threatened to plague the Imperial Military.
The Empire searched for weakness, and it found it in the Free Worlds Coalition.
Led by the world-state of Alderaan, the Free Worlds Coalition was an amalgamation of former One Sith and Republic systems that had banded together for mutual protection and economic stability. However, it lacked both a standing army and a permanent navy, instead of relying on the individual worlds within its borders to provide their own local defenses. In comparison, the Empire bolstered a considerable centralized military with soldiers ranking in the millions, conscripted from every world that the Empire gobbled up in its never-ending quest for territory.
The Empire had proved that it could be a match for the Galactic Alliance, but Thyferra held little value in the consciousness of the galaxy's populace. The Free Worlds Coalition held several iconic systems that the Empire could prey upon, with the Emperor and his High Command eventually choosing Alderaan, Kuat, and Balmorra to serve as the primary targets of this new crusade.
In preparation an entirely new hyperlane was forged along a carefully plotted route, its existence kept a secret through subterfuge, misdirection, and outright bribery of the Coalition's furthermost systems. The engineers constructed a hyperlane stretching from Corbos to Telti, a hidden backdoor right into the heart of the Coalition. Corbos served as the initial staging ground before the fleet jumped to Telti, and from Telti they launched a simultaneous triple offensive on Alderaan, Kuat, and Balmorra.
Even as the battles raged over the three worlds, the engineers that had been left behind at Telti continued to blaze new trails along the path the Imperial Armada had taken, allowing the Sith Empire to withdraw with lightning speed once the offensives had concluded.
