The Kuati Offensive [TSE vs. FWC]

Alderaan, the bright beacon of hope for Republics throughout history, and now the capital of a Coalition of Free Worlds. For too long Alderaan had served as an affront to the Sith Empire, harboring enemies of the state and serving as an untouchable redoubt for pro-Republican corsairs to harry Imperial trade convoys moving between the neutral worlds just beyond the Coalition’s borders.

But no longer.

The tides had begun to shift, spies embedded within the Coalition’s territory spoke of opportunity. They had begun to stagnate, mired in complacency. The Coalition deigned to leave planetary defense up to its individual member-states, neglecting a national military in favor of planetary self-determination.

The Sith Empire held no such noble sentiments, its military was centralized and vast.

So the Sith Emperor and his villainous war council had drawn up plans to deliver a series of knockout blows to the ailing state. A tripartite strike at the Coalition’s most important planets, Alderaan, Kuat, and Balmorra.

The legendary shipyards above Kuat have always been a beacon of industrialization and strength in the galaxy. For many centuries, Kuat Drive Yards have brought great economic boons to it’s homeworld while provided nation after nation after nation with it’s warships. The Galactic Republic saw it’s time with Kuat, and the Galactic Empire after them. And now, the Free Worlds Coalition has their turn ruling the planet.

But their time has ended.

The Coalition has grown complacent and ignorant to the power they wield. They are children playing with a loaded blaster. When you have a child holding a weapon, you must confiscate it from them and punish them for it. From the tunnels of hyperspace emerged several vessels of war. Imperial ships by design. The Sith Empire have found a lapse in their fight against the Galactic Alliance and the Silver Jedi in order to bring war to the Coalition’s shipyards above Kuat. There would be no mercy, no quarter, no escape.

At the head of a massive fleet was the Galewind, an Militus-class Star Battlecruiser and the current command ship of Vice Admiral Denko. She was appointed the commanding officer of this operation by the Emperor himself. It was of no surprise to her after her efforts against other enemies of the Sith, she was the only logical option for such an operation.

From the bridge of the Galewind, Zahori sat, watching and waiting. Several ships exited hyperspace at her flanks, all under her command. She expected several other Imperial naval personnel to accompany her on this mission so she waited patiently for their arrival. It gave her time to think of her strategy for the coming battle. Other than that, the bridge was alive with activity as personnel were constantly on the move, checking sensors, powering up shields and weapons, and monitoring the fleet’s systems as a whole.

“Admiral Denko, the fleet is prepared for the assault on your command. .” a comms officer reported. Zahori gave her a nod and returned her gaze on the shipyards. She had plans for Kuat Drives Yards. Plans that would not only benefit her, but the Empire as a whole. She would decimate them, but leave just enough in tact for use by the Empire.

“It was inevitable. It has always been inevitable. The Sith’s hunger knows no sustenance other than the pain and anguish of it’s enemies. It is a hunger that shall always remain unsated. One that will always be there no matter how many bodies we pile onto the pyre. After today, that pyre is going to have several thousand more bodies upon it.”

Tabigarashu Madara

Good things come in smol packages
Kuat System

Toward the rear, just at the end of the Imperial Ships reverting from Hyperspace and into the Kuat System, a shadow fell.

Slow and menacing, the Song of Truth, the Inquisition flag ship. However, it was not the leader of the Saaraishash that stood on the bridge today. There was no evidence of the noble [member="Darth Saarai"], plumage rich and perfect. Instead, Admiral Joriah, back straight and gaze sharp, stood at the helm. Charged with command of the Inquisition fleet and thus its flagship, Admiral Joriah knew his goal and position in today's offensive.

Unfortunately, that position....

Was just beneath a mouse.

In this case, literally.

Tabigarashu Madara, better known to their friends as 'Hirou', perched on the man's shoulder, looking down at everything from the high up view point. Over the last two years, the Nezumi had slowly grown more accustomed to riding in such positions and stood tall (as tall as a thirteen centimeter being could stand), at relative ease on the appreciatively steady shoulder of Admiral Joriah.

Dressed in an Armada Naval officer uniform, Hirou was here on behalf of Tai Fa himself. His chosen representative. While they had no rank per se, the combination of their position within the Saaraishash, chosen representative of Darth Saarai, and honorary title of Sith Knight (earned for their bravery on Mirial) put them in charge on the Song.

A technicality, but one Admiral Joriah was keenly aware of.

"Engage system jamming," Hirou squeaked from their perch. "Start bringing up the long distance scanners."

While not a naval officer, the thing that Hirou did know, intricately, was the capabilities of the ship itself. While they would engage if necessary, their primary role here was support and recon. All of the data on enemy vessels and the shipyards themselves would be fed directly to the rest of the fleet, those communications unaffected by the jamming systems on the Song. The Sith Empire fleet would be able to talk to each other..... but distress calls out of system and sensors turned on them by the enemy ships? That was what the Song of Truth was here for.

To silence the noise and seek out that which was hidden.

To find the Truth.

Kuat System
Admiral Joriah; back rigid straight like he had pure iron for a spine, uniform crisp and clear, stared right ahead at the initial telemetry being fed back to them by the passive scanners of the Song.

"Understood, Lord Admiral Madara." Lord Admiral, that title did not actually... Joriah ignored his own feelings on the matter. There had been an argument a week prior to this engagement between himself and the Lord Inquisitor of the Saaraishash. The regal birb had been clear in his intentions- it would be the smol Hirou, hero of Mirial and Knight of the Sith, that would represent him within the Kuat engagement. But... Lord Saarai believed that Hirou needed a proper rank within the Saaraishash navy to executive his responsibilities with efficiency.

Joriah had frowned but eventually bowed in acceptance.

One did not argue when the Lord Inquisitor had made him his mind.

Two moments later the Song of Truth engaged their expansive jamming systems. It swept up as a cloud, originating from that gleaming price of the auxiliary fleet, aiming to blanket and snuff out the signals, sensors of their enemies today.

"Admiral, should we begin launch procedures for our star fighter complements?" The Admiral was silent as their powerful sensor arrays started sweeping the entirety of the system, feeding back everything that they detected and syncing that up with [member="Zahori Denko"]'s command ship. There would be no lies today, the enemy would be revealed for their burning fire to scorch clean.

"Lord Admiral Madara, the command is yours." Joriah reminded the smol mouse on his shoulder. While the bridge might naturally look upon him, the Admiral would do nothing to imply that he was trying to supersede their command.

Task Force 419; the Black Talons
Objective; Aid the Sith Empire
Secondary; Set up Operations

Fiolette brought her own forces to Kuat.

Part of her had yearned to be back in the Captain's seat and as Primo Victoria grew the more it became a possibility to once more take on foes with her naval command. With the majority of her larger and more powerful vessels still tied up by either the First Order or pre-production planning, it meant that the former grand admiral would have to go small with her forces. Which suited her just fine after all a chance to command her own forces was still a chance at command.

She remembered when she had first been brought before [member=[/FONT]"Zahori Denko"], it was a favor for a favor.

Today that favor would be repaid.

It was how Fiolette managed to get in on the attack going into Kuat.

The Galidraani asked for one yard out of the many that Kuat boasted, it was all she needed. "Lieutenant Farrah, inform Denko that we'll be with her forces shortly."

"Of course," Farrah acknowledged as he managed the communications aboard the VSS Rakal, the Hama-type heavy cruiser. It was surrounded by six Muhktiar-type Anti-Starfighter Corvettes, the centerpiece of Task Force 419. The Black Talons would be dropping from hyperspace within the next half hour but plenty of time to reach Vice Admiral Zahori Denko and the Sith-Imperial forces over Kuat and aid them in the battle to take over the industrious planet.

Once contact was made with Denko's forces, the next question sent would be; Where do you want us?

Kuat
United Trade Fleet 1st Company
Objective; Repair and Resupply at Kuat
Secondary; Secure Commenor Run Trade Route

The 1st Corporate Trade Fleet exited Hyperspace with many of their ships damaged and some of their transports leaking fuel and sustained damage from their previous engagement. They had entered the system and Jaster took the head of his escort fleet as they were on a regular patrol of their trade routes. The transports transmitted a distress signal and they responded to see the cannons of a Sith Empire Raid Group. They literally fought to the death and even though they outmatched the group at least 3 to 1, the Corporate Feet sustained 2 Corvettes and a Frigate lost to the void and even his flagship, the "Mando Loot" had took a bruising from the small group. The Fleet recovered their dead and wounded from the other ships after the small raid was dealt with, after such they made a route to Kuat where they would repair and resupply under their trade agreement with the Coalition.

Exiting Hyperspace his aid, Twoozer, became alert, "Contact, Sith Imperial Signiture and weapons hot!" The droid pointed off the view of the bridge at the sizable fleet that was reading to attack the planets defenses.

Jaster sprung into action as he pointed to the helmsmen who was already alerted by the possible main fleet of the raiding party they just engaged. "Helmsman, get this ship between that fleet and the medical frigates,"

"Aye, aye sir," The sailor recognized the order and brought the display HUD down on his head to get the tactical data.

Jaster moved his gaze over to Communications, "Get me contact with the 1st Escort Group."

"No good sir, hyperspace communications are jammed," The women turned to face the Viceroy of the UTC, "However, I am able to get laser line of sight communications on line."

Jaster looked out the view screen and saw the head ship of one of the Raxis Bunch, currently commanded by [member="Sunrise Latakia"], unknown by Jaster. "Get me coms with the Dutchman," Being an experienced Fleet Officer and close friends with both the CSA and the Coalition, he new most of the high priority ships within the Core Worlds. Once the communications were established he was only able to get audio between the ships, Sith Jammers were no jokes. "Raxis, what is going on here?"

Sentus stood silently in his personal quarters, looking out the massive window that dominated an entire wall. It had been a personal request of his, and as an Admiral within the SJO, he had gotten his request. His cloak lay discarded on the small bed in the corner of the room, and Sentus wore only a light shirt and pants despite the cold. In his hand was a half empty cup of ale, the bottle laying on the nearby desk he occasionally used. Outside the glass, Sentus watched as another Nightingale class ship slowly drifted by, its patrol route taking it around Sentus's flagship.

Finishing what was left in his cup, Sentus turned away from the window and walked across the room to the desk, grabbing the open bottle and pouring it into the cup. Raising the cup to his lips, he paused when he looked at the small picture sitting on the desk. A woman with blonde hair, eternally smiling up at Sentus. In a flash of motion, Sentus threw the cup across the room with a shout, watching it shatter against the wall.

Looking at the liquid as it began to spread across the floor, Sentus took a final look at the picture before walking towards his dresser. Minutes later, he emerged from his dimly lit quarters, his customary Admiral uniform and fur cloak wrapped around his shoulders. He made his way through his flagship to the bridge, ignoring the few crewman he passed who quickly saluted him. Walking onto the bridge, he began issuing orders before the door even closed behind him.

"Contact Command, request permission to launch a reconnaissance expedition to the Kuat System to investigate, and lend aid to our allies if needed." As the bridge suddenly erupted into motion around him, Sentus walked slowly across the small catwalk to the front of the bridge, climbing the steps to the elevated platform that served as the command station. Folding his hands behind his back, Admiral Sentus Olan began planning his next move.

Admiral Denko's allies had came in force, just as she expected them to. Her own fleet was ready and awaiting her orders. Just when the attack was about to commence, Kuat had formed a defense, with some unexpected company on their side. Unexpected, but greatly welcomed. Gave Zahori more chances to earn favor with the Admiralty. "We have company."

"Admiral, we've received transmission from our allies in the system. Fiolette Yvarro is awaiting your direction. The Song of Truth has entered the system and began jamming their comms. The fighter pilots are ready to scramble at your command."

"Begin the attack. Fiolette's fleet will escort our ships, providing support against starfighters attacking my ships as we move closer to the yards. Once we're in decent enough range, her ships'll break off and hit the defensive fleet where it hurts. The Incapacitators will focus on keeping these pests within the system as we rip through them with our superior power. Keep an eye on the rear flank. Don't need a repeat of Kasshyyk."

With Zahori's order, the attack commenced. The fleet moved into offensive positions. The Incapacitators stayed behind the fleet, not wanting to fully engage with their lack of firepower, instead firing up their gravity well projectors, trapping the enemy ships within the system. The rest of the fleet formed a firing line at the flanks of the Song of Truth and began to fire at the enemy ships. Fighters scrambled from the many hangars of the Scorchblade fleet while the larger capital ships began unleashing their firepower on the enemy. No one was spared from the fleet's attack, whether they be Kuati or Mandalorian. Zahori had a mission to cripple the shipyards of Kuat. She would see it through without hesitation. Any transmission from anyone not utilizing Imperial channels would be ignored. Zahori needed no distractions.

With little haste, Jyoti had transferred to her newest flagship after scattered reports of Sith incursions into FWC space made their way to Kashyyyk. It didn't take long to mobilize Battlegroup Susanoo of the Katana Fleet, the Silver Spacy always in a state of alert against inevitable Sith attack.

Assurances of military and humanitarian support were issued to the Coalition government over official channels as Jyoti prepared to lead a mixed armada of Silver and ISAF forces to the Core.

"Message from the 9th," a senior comms officer announced from her station. "They're asking permission to conduct a reconnaissance mission in the Kuat system."

The 9th Fleet, led by Admiral Olan. A competent officer she previously had the pleasure of working with during the restoration of Thyferra.

"Patch me through to Admiral Olan," Jyoti ordered.

"Yes ma'am, connected."

On the holoprojector, he would be able to see the stern Echani in her normal regalia of silvery robes, hands clasped behind her back.

"Admiral, this is General Nooran. I was actually just about to issue deployment orders to you, so perfect timing. You have my permission to recon Kuat. However, be warned, interference is making it difficult for us to connect with the Kuati. The Sith must be employing heavy jamming. I'd recommend that you park your main force somewhere in the Kuat sector and check out the system with a recon element in order to ascertain enemy force strength to start. I also need you to make contact with the Kuati through interference ASAP. I'll be attaching my own recon element to your unit to establish a comm relay for the rest of the Armada."

"You may deploy when ready. Good hunting, and may the Force be with you."

Things moved quickly now a day, Charlie could barely remember a time she was able to just sit and do nothing. Ever since coming to Kashyyyk and becoming Jyoti’s Padawan she found herself always on the move. The first couple of weeks was hard, the massive shift from daily meditation and waiting for lunch to shoving down whatever protein bar she could find and sleeping on odd crates between missions. There were of course brief moments of relaxation and Charlie longed for them, but the excitement buzzed, and she wanted to be in the middle of it.

Once they were settled into the new flagship, Charlie quickly joined Jyoti on the bridge. It was silent, but the energy was high as monitors and keyboards clicked and beeped. Everyone was preparing and making sure the ship was in tip top shape. Finally, voices broke the silence and the Padawan glanced towards her Master who issued the orders. Standing away from the woman, the K’paur hand her hands behind her back and brooded. As much as she wanted to bring along her book on military space combat, she left it in her room for the time being. Having one’s nose in a book was a waste when they could be learning first hand.

Charlie remained quiet and calmed her excitement. She had about a thousand questions, but those could wait till after the battle. She made a mental note of them all and continued to stand with a stoic look on her face.

The voice of someone other then Raxis did not install great confidence in the moment as the Sith still very much had them outnumbered. Their only way of success was to stick close to the rings and defend the dockyards as they proceeded to launch volleys of defense laser fire at the Sith Fleet. It was at this split second of organizing his thoughts a deck hand pointed out the viewport of the bridge towards the Sith Fleet. "Viceroy, enemy volley inbound."

He sprung to action as he scattered his orders to his crew. "All hands brace for impact," He looked to his helmsman who was focused on his task of already turning the ship. "Helm, Starboard 36 degrees and a decline of 17, our shields must take a brunt of those shots." In a chaotic fashion he turned back to his coms operator. "Order the Spearhead and Sovereign to take the hits as well, and I want the Frigates to use their long range to hit those damn cruisers, we will chip at their armor."

The orders were relayed through Laser Point Communications and the Veteran Fleet Crew road out the damage. The Crew modulated the shield perfectly to sustain little damage to the hull and allows them to take the brunt of the damage. The larger capital ships took most of the volley with only a frigate and two cruisers getting hit by the long range laser fire. The star destroyer and her two heavy cruisers turned their gins on the enemy and the corvettes snugged in close. The Frigates stayed in the umbrella of the fleets shields and fired a long range volley towards the flanking Star Destroyers hoping to take away the support wing of the fleet. The fleet as a whole attempted to still gather up with the Coalition Fleet as they were still outside range of the planets gravity well.

Sentus nodded his head once the General finished speaking, turning his head away as the holo image vanished. He hadn't doubted the outcome, though it gave him some measure of relief. The moment the 9th fleet had caught wind of possible Sith activity near Kuat, the entire fleet had erupted with barely contained rage. The Void Wolves hadn't been present when the Sith attacked Kashyyyk. They had been patrolling along the borders of their protected space, searching for a band of pirates that had been preying on civilian transports. His men were eager to make up for missing that fight.

"Send word across the fleet to begin full hyperspace jumps to the edge of the Kuat System. I will take the Nightingale in alone to investigate the situation at hand. Make it clear to the Captains, Commander, that they are to be ready to enter combat at a moments notice." To his side, Commander Laat nodded his head, before the Wookie turned and walked across to the communication terminal to begin issuing orders. Almost every naval officer in the SJO fleet could understand Wookies, given the capital of their domain.

A few minutes later, the full might of the Void Wolves jumped into hyperspace, heading towards Kuat.

---------

Most of the fleet dropped out of hyperspace at the edge of the Kuat System, establishing a defensive formation, whilst the Nightingale pushed further into the system alone. Sentus stood at the command center still, his eyes watching the star stream by him to either side. At a unseen order, the Nightingale dropped out of hyperspace. At once a shadow eclipsed the entire vessel, the bridge becoming a sea of shadows and the glowing terminals. Sentus leaned forward on the command rail, turning to issue orders to the bridge.

"Emergency evasive, all thrusters reverse full power, and bring us above that damned rock" Sentus was almost thrown off his feet as the Nightingale suddenly began to reverse its direction, thrusters pushing against the natural pull of the moon. At the same time, the nose of the warship began to climb, taking the ship up above the moon. Slowly the shadow dissapeared from the bridge, replaced once more by the dark void of space. Finally, the Nightingale emerged from behind the moon, taking up position in high orbit above it.

Sentus let out the breath he didn't know he had been holding, shaking his head as he looked out the viewport. In the distance, he could see Kuat, and the massive shipyard encircling the entire planet. The majestic sight was hardly noticed by Sentus, as his eyes were drawn instead to the series of explosions erupting in space near Kuat. Sentus ordered for a comm to be opened, hoping something could get through.

"To any Free World Coalition forces in orbit of Kuat, this is Admiral Olan of the Silver Jedi Order. If you are reading this, please respond."

The First Order did not have any real beef, or issues in regards to the Free Worlds Coalition, or the Kuati. Central Command and the government regarded the Coalition as an ineffectual state. A Core World conglomeration of elites, bandying around power and might for all its worth. It was not dissimilar to the other states, the First Order regularly humiliated on the field of battle, apart from the lack of overzealous militarisation. During its history, the Free Worlds Coalition had largely avoided the First Order's interest. However it was today that changed. Despite the unprecedented industrial growth in the Unknown Regions, and Outer Rim, spurred on by the First Order it was still not yet at the might many amongst the military wished. The industrial base forged out of near nothing was impressive, but as the Order expanded the need for more shipyards, and factories was of constant need. Amongst the leaders of Sieger Ren's empire, Core was still looked upon with the massive might of shipyards, and factories with an envy. Such potential, wasted on warlords like the Coalition, and the corruption of the Alliance.

When word of a proposed attack by the Sith Empire reached Central Command's ears, Dosuun hastily prepared a fleet. A conglomeration of companies, favourable to the regime were rallied. Tyko & Cross Mining, Dossun Trading Co., the Hephaestus Corporation, Bespin Shipping Corp and The Jalal Firm were all given insider access, for a substantial fee, as well as a large portion of their physical fleets for an expedition to the Core worlds. The expedition of course, would be given the protection of the government. With the Galactic Alliance still a threat, the operation had to be rather clandestine. But, for their hard work, and investments, the First Order would now seek to take a bounty, the vast Kuat shipyards, for its own and become an industrial power not seen for near five hundred years.

And for such a mission, there was only truly one man. Or in this case, droid for the job. From aboard the bridge of the FIV Imperator, the newly minted Grand Admiral, Carlyle Edrich Rausgeber, or more accurately the droid which acted at the behest of the man. The solitary, figure stood in wait, aboard the command deck of the Imperator, pale blue, unblinking eyes staring into the milky blue void. This would undoubtedly be a test of his ability. Although the Coalition had waned in power, it was still a threat. A cornered animal, even when dying still stood could inflict damage. Although a little blood spilled now, would not quench the Order's quest for supremacy.

"Reverting out of lightspeed!" The Helmsman barked, Rausgeber's gaze changed, and he turned to the crew pits, awaiting their status reports, before he returned to the viewport. When the First Order taskforce exited lightspeed, they were greeted with a light show, as turbolasers danced back and forth from vessel to vessel. The proceedings had begun without them, something Carlyle was somewhat displeased with. Sith insecurity, and aggression had a habit of doing that, if past experience and historical conflict were any precedent. One by one, the stations aboard the bridge sounded off. All systems were operational.

"Grand Admiral," The Signals Officer began, "Sir, the merchants wish to be directed to targets." The Officer informed him. Carlyle nodded, the merchants were an eager bunch, their enthusiasm, unbridled and untempered. Something they shared with the Sith whom had organised the offensive. Carlyle's eyes scanned the perimeter. Kuat's orbit was awash with dockyards, and repair bays, which orbited the edge of the system, and the massive ring which orbited the planet. That was obviously the prize, even if they could only salvage small chunks of it, to recreate that, over Dosuun, Bespin, or Hoth would be an invaluable service to cement the First Order, and by extension, the Sixth Fleets power and prestige.

"Order them begin to take the smaller modules away,
" Carlyle commanded, "We will have Admiral Braisley, perform the first extractions from rendezvous point terrek." The droid ordered, things would need be performed quickly and succinctly, or else the First Order risked the entire operations collapse. There was however one vessel which lurked nearby. From what Carlyle could ascertain, was that it certainly wasn't Alliance material. In fact, it appeared to be Silver Jedi. It shared the same, disgusting aesthetic as most of the Order's vessels. And would now, fall prey to the Sixth Fleet's infamous, Battlegroup Imperator.

"Focus fire on that vessel there, and force it either commit to facing us, or to move from position." Carlyle began, as quite literally dozens of freighters, bearing civilian identification codes, now began to swarm the Kuati perimeter shipworks. Rausgeber, then gestured to the Signals Officer, who gave the Grand Admiral a cord, to which he plugged the back of his head into. He was now, able to access the communications equipment of his fleet. "Commander Asturo," Carlyle addressed his subordinate, "Begin your jamming sequence." Rausgeber continued, now was the time to press the advantage. If the First Order could successfully begin to interfere with the targeting programs used by the Jedi, and their Coalition allies it would give the Sith Empire a distinctive advantage. Now, the larger command vessels of the First Order protection detail, began to rain fire on the Nightingale-Class Carrier.

The massive, tri-barrelled mega turbolasers, began to fire, an attempt to pound the Nightingale into submission before it could create any impact at all. TIE fighters, bombers and other variants now streamed out of the cavernous hangars and began to cling to the surface of the First Order destroyers. As the destroyers and command vessels now pressed forward, the smaller freighters, and trade ships brought in by Battlegroup Imperator, now began to deploy ion mines, disabling the shipyard infrastructure to the edge of the now growing battlefield. As the stations became disabled, invisible beams, hooked around them, and they began to be towed away, before disappearing into lightspeed, as if they'd never been there at all.

Sieger Ren's fist had arrived. And it was ready to deliver the devastating uppercut which would knock out the Free Worlds Coalition. Permanently.

Flying in armour had been something Kalen Genet had never tried, in his thirty-odd years of life. As he was doing it just then, numerous thoughts went through his head: Now I know why I never did this. Why do I have to fly in armour, anyways? Man, this stuff itches. Hard to sit in, too. I wish I could find a better job. Seriously, why do I need armour? Unfortunately, he would not be fond of the reason why he was flying in armour. He'd already guessed it'd be something involving battle; by the Manda, [member="Kaira Eyeris"] had told him as much. He'd been so down-and-out for work that he'd accepted a job that involved smuggling only one Mandalorian warrior (two, if he was counted) in to some place on Kuat in order to do...something. That would involve fighting.

"I know this seems like a bad idea, K1," he snapped at the astromech droid that was plugged in at the navcomputer. The thing had been beeping at him incessantly, telling him just how idiotic it was to accept the job, regardless of the fact that Kalen needed the money. Otherwise, he'd warned, he'd have to sell off K1 just to be able to eat. "How about you focus on keeping alert for any strange sensor activity once we exit hyperspace, rather than making me ask why I still keep you?" With one more shrill squeal of anger, the droid finally shut up and let him be. Kalen rolled his eyes, tapping the button for the intercom back to the main hold of the freighter. "Avram here," he said, almost-completely unnecessarily; it wasn't as if K1 could've faked his voice to try and confuse Kaira. "We're a couple minutes away from dropping out of hyperspace, you might want to be up in the cockpit, if only so you can tell me where to go."

He tried his best to relax, Kaira having ample time to make her way from the hold to the cockpit. Shortly after she made it in, the Astro-class freighter dropped out of hyperspace - at Kalen nearly had a heart attack. He didn't drop in at the edge of the system like if he was making a non-smuggled shipment, instead avoiding the sensors at the edge of the system that were designed to keep track of normal traffic. As such, he was far too close to whatever was just starting for comfort. "First Order off to the starboard side," he observed, glancing at the fleet that had just dropped in right before them. "Kuat Defense Fleet around the planet," his eyes shifted. "Sith vessels from multiple directions, and judging by the sounds of my sensors and my droid, there are Jedi at the edge of the system behind us, as well as one big ship of theirs really close by." He turned in his chair, helmet and rifle on the console in front of it, while he stared flatly at Kaira.

"I would've appreciated warning that we were jumping right into the middle of a warzone," he said in a tone as flat as his gaze, struggling rather hard not to start screaming. "Care to tell me who are our allies here, and do you have codes to transmit to them so they know not to shoot us before we even get wherever it is you want us to go?"

"If I told you we'd be flying through a warzone with no cover, you might have said no." Kaira said, making the most deadpan voice possible from within her helmet, although she had a little smile plastered to her face. It was good to be doing something without being paid to do it. Well, strictly speaking, she was being paid, although it was a little less traditional than she'd become accustomed to. Still, she was in high spirits, and while Avram was about to jump out of his skin at the sight of the fleets outside, Kaira instead saw opportunity. "Allies? Honestly, Avram, it's cute you think we have any friendlies out there. Although, if it makes you feel any better, I'd send word to the Sith that we're here for their bounty notice."

She looked out of the viewport, scanning the scene. If they played their cards right, no one would have the time or inclination to fire at them while the big bogs engaged in orbital slap fights. Which meant a straight shot to their target. Off in the distance, around the planet, Kuat Drive Yards floated around the planet like a ring. Everything from fighters to Star Destroyers were housed there. That included several such ships held in dry dock, undergoing refits, routine maintenance, or even taking on supplies in bulk.

The perfect targets.

"Tell me Avram," She said, popping off her helmet so the smuggler could see her face and know she was perfectly serious.

"Do you know anything about hijacking Star Destroyers?"

Kalen cursed and jumped back to his controls, sending his vessel careening off towards the First Order vessels, dodging the turbolaser fire that was arcing for the Nightingale - which the Bad Luck Express just so unfortunately happened to be in the way of. "K1, send out whatever non-aggression and 'please don't shoot us!' signals you can to the First Order ships, every comm frequency available until you get a reply!" he barked, before throwing his freighter into a tight canopy roll to avoid another burst of turbolaser fire. This is exactly the sort of osik I was trying to avoid when I hung up my old Beskar'gam in storage. He rolled back the other way, avoiding one last barrage, before kicking his engines into full blast and flying just underneath one of the cruisers in the First Order lineup.

He dodged around other ships, and the flying bits of space debris that were impossible to avoid around a planet - especially one with shipyards, and now, a battle happening. And he hoped he didn't get fighters on his tail. Shortly afterwards, K1 beeped out in a mixture of fear and pleasure; it seemed like somewhere along the line he'd made a comm connection to one of the larger warships that Kalen was trying to not get accidentally shot by. He instantly slammed a hand down to activate his microphone, speaking into it quickly: "This is Captain Mesenshuk of the Bad Luck Express, hailing the..." his droid beeped out information from the transponder code at him, translating the obscure alphanumerics into useable basic, through binary. "Hailing the FIV Imperator! We're allies of the Sith Empire, same as you, and we're here to help according to the bounty they posted!" He dove the ship hard, to avoid colliding with the nose of a member of the First Order fleet that had suddenly drifted slightly into view far closer than Kalen liked, or the prodigious shields the vessels possessed. "We'll stay out of your way while you smash that big hulk off behind us, and in return we hope you'll remember who we are and don't accidentally shoot at us or send fighters after us, is that agreeable?"

He cursed and pulled the ship up out of its dive, nearly having gone on the complete opposite side of the First Order fleet from where he'd started. He resisted the urge to pray to whatever god would hear him in thanks for his and his droid's ability to pilot the ship without crashing it, running into an anti-fighter turret bolt, any turbolaser barrages, or any other significant problems that could have occurred; he just hoped that, with their unfortunately-timed-and-placed arrival into the system, he'd already used up all the bad luck that was alloted to him for the day, and for once his luck might get better. He took his other hand off the microphone button - holding it far longer than he likely needed to and most likely subjecting somebody he shouldn't have to his cursing - and somewhat glanced over at Kaira while he had a free moment. "You sure you don't have any special codes to transmit or anything like that? Sith Empire didn't leave any 'make sure you have these codes or we can't trust you!' message, or anything like that, when they posted the bounty? Or did you maybe contact them ahead of time?" He stopped for a moment, glancing over at the shipyards surrounding Kuat.

"And what was that about stealing a Star Destroyer?"

From the outside, her ships looked no different that of the Vice Admiral's.

Unless you looked out a window and noticed the crown logo, Fiolette had her ships configured to be in tune with the Sith-Imperial fleet, making it easier to communicate. "Exiting hyperspace, in three, two, one." Gravity wells were the first thing that she saw on her commander's screen. Orders were coming in from Denko, "right then, into the formation." She echoed the order and had her task force integrate with the rest of the fleet. Task Force 419 moved into position, "get those weapons at the ready, raise shields I want the entire task force on red alert if they're not already."

"Orders extended Captain, Commanders Galeway and Montague are also at the ready," Lieutenant Farrah reported.

"Acknowledged," Fiolette replied, as she pushed the commander screen out from her view and unfolded from her seat. "Are those gravity hammers ready?"

She turned her attention to Thijssen, the woman responded, "they will be ma'am."

Fiolette nodded in acknowledgment and put her hands behind her at an at-rest position as she looked over her bridge. The VSS Rakal was quiet, but the on-screen display showed that the Battle for Kuat had already begun, "begin defensive screen Veractyl-Dorn-Trill-Two."

The Victorian Task Force maneuvered to begin the screens, "Captain reading a larger force of starfighters."

"We'll hold." She replied matter-of-factly, "engage."

"They weren't exactly specific. Just keep broadcasting until someone replies. And make sure we don't die before that happens. We have to be alive to pull this off." She strapped herself into one of the seats as the ship shook and jolted. She hoped that was due to the evasive maneuvers Avram was pulling, or else this crazy plan of hers was going to end in their collective deaths.

But Kaira hadn't felt this good about a job in years. She hadn't worked for herself since before the flotilla had been destroyed, and she found herself actually looking forward to the thrill of combat. Even if it was clear that Avram was less so inclined. The ship rocked violently again as he banked hard, and she was glad that the straps were securely holding her down. Zero Gravity was preferable to this. But it was preferable to most environments she found herself in.

"The Sith are giving us free-reign to pillage whatever we want during the fighting, and I intend to pillage. KDY keeps some of their Beta Frigates in dry dock along the ring. We get in, fight up to the bridge, and vent the ship. They won't know what hit them, and we make out with a shiny new frigate."

That was the plan at least. Whether it worked or not depended on if they made it there in one piece, and if they stayed in one piece long enough to get to the bridge. It wouldn't be easy, but it was doable.

The attack on Kuat had come as a surprise to everyone on Kashyyk, coming shortly after the Empire's attack on the Silver Jedi Capital of Kashyyk. The planet was still recovering from that sneak attack now, while the damage to the environment had been kept down to the minimum, only a series of craters and burn marks from the blasters. The marks on the planet's psyche were something else entirely, the Wookies, the Silver Jedi, they had all been looking to build up their military, to protect themselves from any future attacks. It had lead John to travel to the planet, to meet up with the other companies supplying the Silver Jedi, to see what it was they could do to assist the Jedi with their wish to protect the territory that looked to them for protection. It was on Kashyyk he'd heard that the Empire was advancing on the territory of the FWC, with the intent of burning and ravaging their planets, some of which had an important part of galactic history.

So he found himself settled into the command seat on one of the Silver Fleet's newest Krakana Battlecruisers, a behemoth of metal and weapons, of soldiers and death, slipping silently through space as he tugged uncomfortably at the neck of his uniform, twisting his head to the side to catch sight of his reflection in nearest viewscreen. He hadn't worn a uniform since his time serving in the Kiribian military. These days it was all overalls or suits so the fine cut of the military uniform just didn't feel as comfortable as it once used to. "EX, remind me to have..." John's voice trailed off as he glanced over at the location normally occupied by the droid but he'd decided this time to leave his companion behind. EX just wasn't set up to handle the situation if they were boarded, or to assist outside of a pure logistics capacity, so he'd left his friend behind to take care of the situation on Kashyyk, making sure that any orders and needs were taken care of and the logistics lines to the fleet remained free and clear.

Gathering himself the man swivelled in his chair, nodding at the lieutenant manning the comms station, "Please send general Nooran my regards and let her know that we'll be in position in," he glanced at the sensor board quickly, "in 3 minutes and will be at her disposal at that point." Another quick glance at the sensors as he examined his battlegroup, "and comm the Argonaut's and ask them to fall slightly further back in position, I don't want them taking fire at the start, better to keep them back for when we need them." Settling back in his chair the dark-haired cyborg did his best to exude an air of calm control as his brain leapt around like a headless chicken. This was the first time in a long time he'd be taking a military force into real battle, and he really didn't want to make any errors.

As more and more vessels entered the system, the battle grew more intense. The Scorchblade fleet was locked onto the FWC's defense fleet with all it's fire. They were the mission so they were the main focus of the assault. The Galewind was taking the brunt of the attack, but it's superior defenses held against the onslaught with ease. While the Galewind was speeding towards it's objective, the rest of the fleet formed up, providing covering fire for the Galewind.

"Admiral, the fleet is in position to fire on their command ship. They seem to be focusing fire on us. Should we initiate the Hyenax protocol?"

"Yes."

"Initiating Hyenax protocol."

Suddenly, the Galewind would break off from the main fleet and make for the artificial ring surrounding Kuat, the main target. The Militus-class was made to be a swift moving ship who's purpose was to hunt down foes who thought escape was a possibility. As the Galewind sped for the shipyards, the rest of the fleet, who remained mostly unharmed save for the fire from a small fleet of junker ships in the distance, began firing upon the 3 ships that stood in the back, most of the fire coming upon the ship in the center who would, logically, be the main command ship as history would dictate. The Galewind, itself, would be already firing on the shipyards. It's long range turbolasers immediately began putting in work on the shipyards, causing chain reactions of explosions throughout the nearby sections of the ring as the Galewind continued firing on it. As fire came from the planet's surface, the Galewind was able to evade most of the fire as it's speed was too much for the planetary cannons to compute.

"Have Yvarro's ships hit those who follow us to the yards with all they got. They seem so determined to bring us down, we'll make them work for it."

The Hyenax protocol recieved it's namesake from the mighty hyenax. To hunt their prey, the alpha would separate the masses from the main kill, allowing the rest of the pack to attack as the alpha kept the rest busy. Zahori saw this first hand when she oversaw the construction of the listening post on Vaal and workers were attacked by a pack of hyenax. Zahori cut the beasts down without mercy, but learned from their methods. They would come in handy for this battle at hand.

First Order. Sentus didn't need to see the data coming across the screens in front of him to know that. The patterns they used, the ships of the line that made up their fleets. Sentus knew them all, and he could see them even from this distance. He gripped the rail in cold rage as the First Order advanced, their freighter support suddenly breaking from the fleet and rushing towards Kuat. Sentus resisted the order to deploy fighters to attack and destroy the freighters. He saw them as the enemy combatants they were, no matter what colors they wore, but his Jedi superiors wouldn't see it that way. He would deal with them eventually.

Alerts began to flash across the bridge, with a droid stationed near Sentus turning to look up at the Admiral. "Admiral, the First Order vessels are locking on to us, and are interfering with out own targeting computers." Sentus ignored the droid, turning to look at the navigation control. "Deactivate the engines, and fire forward thrusters down to angle us at the moon below. Let us fall." The crewman's face paled as heard Sentus's orders, and remained frozen for a few seconds fearing the idea. Commander Laat pushed the man aside and began typing the orders himself. Turning to the rest of the bridge, Sentus briefly nodded his head to them.

"Hold on to something."

As the full volley of First Order weapons neared the Nightingale, the moons gravity took hold of the ship, beginning to pull it down. The leading edge of enemy fire still hit the warship, but as it began its dive, most of it flew harmlessly through the space it had once held. The ship began to accelerate as it drew closer to the planet, trails of fire beginning to spread out across the shields. The initial burst of the thrusters had angled the nose of the battle-carrier down, giving it a better re-entry trajectory and angle. Just as they were about to break through, Sentus turned and shouted across the bridge, his eyes nearly blinded by the flames outside the viewports.

"Active port thrusters now, give us a spin!" Along the side of the Nightingale, the thrusters fire in a single continuous burst, slowly spinning the vessel around in its descent. Crewmen let out a shout as the sudden pressure and resistance hit the ship, sending a few off their feet or away from their stations. Sentus remained where he stood, his fists white from gripping the command rail. Once the ship had completed a one eighty degree turn from its original course, Sentus shouted out the next orders.

'Fire all engines forward!" The ship suddenly shot forward, sending even more crewman off their feet as the main engines erupted back to life. Using the moons gravity as a pull downward, the Nightingale shot through the upper atmosphere of the planet, curving down and around away from where it had been. Slowly the flames began to fade away as the Nightingale began to break orbit, pulling back up into the void of space beyond the moon's immediate pull.

Slowly, the bridge crew began to get up and situate themselves back at their stations, with the young officer who ignored Sentus's orders remaining frozen on the deck where he had fallen. Grimacing at the man, Sentus turned to Commander Laat, giving a brief bark of an order.

"Get him off my bridge." The Wookie nodded his head, grabbing the man by the shoulder and hauling him to his feet, before pushing him forward and towards the door of the bridge. Another crewman rushed forward to fill his place, and Sentus turned back to look at the viewports to asses the situation. The Nightingale was now situated safely once again behind the moon, with enough distance between them and the First Order fleet to buy them time. They had taken damage in the maneuver, but far less then what they might have if they had stood their ground against overwhelming force.

"Deploy one of our fighters to jump out of the system and take word to the rest of the fleet. We need reinforcements."

Moments later, a starfighter shot out of one of the rear hangars of the Nightingale, streaking through the void of space away from its carrier. Near the edge of the system, it only experienced the leading edges of the interdictors. To be safe, the pilot flew several dozen kilometers out into the empty space around the system before jumping to hyperspace with the message.
