"Your father certainly wasn't wrong," the voice came through the mask's voicebox like a hollow, raspy sound, yet profoundly laced with a sense of strength that couldn't be denied, perhaps even a hint of melancholy. "though one does have to ask oneself... are our choices truly made on our own accord or by what society demands? did we take all options in account for all of our choices? I personally always wish to see the maximum scope of options, look at the widest variety of corrections, alterations and variations to each possible choice."
Waving his hand, a chuckle escaped his mask once more, yet it sounded cynical, sour and wholly misplaced. "On the topic of Exar Kun...how much choice did he truly have, for his insights to truly matter? Did he view his decisions with clarity or was he guided, manipulated by the will of others."
The Lord of Hunger's eyes seemed to light up ever so slightly, as his words also reflected on himself, as he too was guided into the womb of sith society, but unlike many...he did not simply stick to being a sith. Nay, he visited and observed the Dathomiri witches, the falleen exalted, the chiss, even the jedi and the forebearers of the order; the Jeda'i. it was after years of observation, of falling into a state beyond death, of traversing the netherrealm as nothing but a wraith tethered to a failing body, that an idea entered the monster's mind, an ambition which he deemed to be wholly unique, which would set him apart from sith and jedi: he would not be bound by doctrine, he would not fall for the ideologies which shaped so many orders, which created such zealotry and fanaticism. it was simple, there was only self determination through limitless evolution, a cycle of perpetual and unending growth through knowledge, experimentation and progress. The force was no god, it was no mysterious force, nor was it a tool or a weapon...it was simply a 'thing' something which could be useful, which could be observed and understood not by using or abusing it, but by growing beyond its grasp, beyond its confinement.
"You have made your choices...but to not look at them in retrospect...prevents you from growth," The man nodded calmly. "One must always second guess their own choices, always reflect on what might be and what could be... not as something to wallow in, but as a thought process. Once you intuitively reflect on choices, you're much more observant of the consequences and thus much more knowledgeable in picking the option with the best endresult. For instance... ask yourself... if you truly knew what and who I was...would you choose any different? Would you perhaps have drawn your weapon much sooner, maybe you might've attempted to kill me or silence me, perhaps send your cronies on me... observation and reflection grants greater insight, and insight is exactly what so many who have made foolish choices...did not possess."
