The First Order: Faction Advertisement

Why would the board be influenced by Legends canon only?
Besides the fact that a vast majority of the site's characters, factions, and environments take direct influence from Legends.

To Chaos the New Canon would be what Legends is to it.

If there hadn't been a long-standing faction similar to the First Order in Legends (the various Imperial breakaway factions, the Imperial Remannt itself, and then eventually the Fel Empire) then maybe the idea would have some merit, but now factions like it are a dime a dozen and come around far more often than they should.

Let's reflect at what the First Order brings to the table and think about if it really offers anything different from the many, many factions with a similar motif that came before it.

Braith - Neutral Force user / Witch, is trying to experience life as a quasi-normal human being (is non-human) (main character)
Lily - Is a shipwright owner (owns Koros Spaceworks) and is technically the heiress of Empress Teta's crown. (barely active)
Lisette - Light-Side Force user who goes after dark siders with complete prejudice. (more or less inactive)
Verun Hans - Homicidal maniac Anzat that searches for the next thrill to kill. (inactive)

Seriously Vornskr. What crawled up your Force nexus all of a sudden? :p

I've already explained what makes us different. And you're literally the first person I've ever heard to complain that something is too movie-canon and not enough Legends-canon, which, no offense, is about the most ridiculous criticism ever. Besides, conforming to Legends canon and/or board canon is literally stupid easy. Okay, the FO is another splinter faction from the original Sith Empire, except sexier and with a way better name and an actual place for Imperial characters. Boom, we're legends canon now.

Now stop sperging and join us.

One way or another, this Faction was going to pop up eventually.

Also, First Order? Come on. Disney didn't put a ton of thought into that name, folks. It's very likely this Faction just happens to have the same name because First and Order are like... two of the most common words used in faction names.

Anyway, cheers to the FO for undertaking this, let's not be too harsh on them! Love!

Your opinion is welcome as ever [member="Darth Vornskr"]. Honestly I value feedback and you've been the strongest at giving us an honest outlook. You’ve made some valued points on the topic and they have given me some insight into the moods of the board.

While it can indeed look like ‘Just another Imperial Faction’, which in essentiality it is. I’m hoping that we can break the mould and expand beyond ‘just another’ to become ‘the’ Imperial faction of choice. Throughout the development of the First Order faction we moved away from the more separated First Order and turned it to be more of an inspiration piece from the Galactic Empire seen in the movies.

The mention of them being like what the Nazi’s would have been like if they had worked together in Argentina is actually a very good indication of what we are aiming at with the First Order. These are those who feel failed by previous failures and have rallied under the command of a Supreme Leader who is the closest thing to Palpatine’s kind of evil they can.

They are extremist, dedicated to their leader and ready to fight for their belief.

We may become just another Imperial Faction, but I’m hoping it’s different and with the right people to help fuel our stories I truly do believe we can do this.

I'll leave the write up that is in faction below for your viewing pleasure.

OVERVIEW

The Knights of Ren are the Force Using shadow organisation of the First Order.
Their ranks are made up of devoted Dark Side adepts who are all sworn to the service of the Supreme Commander, the First Order and the Knights of Ren themselves. Each is a powerful element by themselves but when deployed as a fighting unit they are a force to be reckoned with.

ORGANISATIONAL RANK

The Knights of Ren start out as Disciples of the Beyond, a group of wonderers made up of rogues and exiles. These Disciples are lured to the citadel of Starkiller Base with the promise of power, wealth and something to fight for. Most are weeded out by the upper ranks of the Order within a few weeks of arriving, those who remain are tasked with simple missions that further the expansion of the First Order as well as gaining them vast experience.

When a Disciple of the Beyond has completed his conditioning he is summoned to the inner chambers of Starkiller base where only the Ren are allowed to stand. There they are put to the sworn oath under the eye of the Supreme Leader and emerge a Knight of Ren, their previous surnames gone and replaced with the title of Ren.

DEPLOYMENT

While the Disciples of the Beyond are usually allocated to more external affairs in the galaxy, the Knights of Ren are placed among the forces of the First Order as elite shock troopers, officers and agents to the Supreme Leader himself. A Knight of Ren can take command of a Stormtrooper regiment if they so desire, however they must still respect the chain of command within the First Order and cannot simply begin to initiate military moves that are better left to the Generals and Admirals of the Navy and Army, in fact it is not uncommon to have an Admiral who has several Knights allocated to his command on a full time basis.

Rarely do the Knights of Ren deploy in number, the Order spreading them out as the Supreme Leader sees fit. It is a common sight to see units of Stormtroopers being led by one of the black masked Knights of Ren. Yet on occasion when groups of the Knights are deployed they form small shock units that dive deep into the enemy lines with feverish zeal.

COMMAND STRUCTURE

The command structure of the Knights of Ren is very loose. All swear their loyalty to the Supreme Leader and once the title of Ren is taken they are considered as equal as the next. However some hold a higher place within the Order then others and one is always considered to be the High Lord of Ren. This is more a ceremonial position then anything and basically becomes the voice of the Supreme Leader among the Knights of Ren themselves.

In matters of war you will find several Knights usually allocated to each higher ranking member of the First Order. Admirals and Generals have been known to hand select their own representative of the Order to lead their men however it is always the final decision of the Knight themselves to be assigned to any particular leader.

[member="Cecily de Demici"] I was thinking The Faction of Imperial Stuff at first...but the First Order rang better...Hopefully we can actually do what we set out to achieve.

It's just my opinion anyways.

This always makes me laugh.

Anyways - it'll be interesting to see what steps they take to dominate the Galaxy? No? To do what you cannot do? ^_^ *hands Vornskr a lolipop*

I find all the complaining from the One Sith characters particularly entertaining. The Nostril of the Dark Lord must be congested today or something.
I find it funny that one person from the One Sith has a vocal opinion, but somehow, there all these One Sith characters complaining. Guess you have to exaggerate to make a point in lieu of actually having one.

I welcome the addition of the First Order and say, party on dudes. More imperials are a good thing.

I may have a character for you then good sir, this impresses me a lot, I wanted to try the First Order out, and here they are. I'll let you when I can get around to putting the character (Not Romeo) into the order. Apart from that. The Academy of Bogan is open to the First Order.

As if on cue, the Canker Sore of the Dark Lord appears. :p

I shouldn't have to explain the concept of colloquial speech for comedic effect to someone allegedly old enough to be on this board, so I won't, but you should try not taking everything so seriously. It's a game, lady. We're all friends here! :)

Sweet karking pot of Force-imbued bantha crap, can a new guy get 15 seconds to check out a new faction and see if he can peddle arms to them before it devolves into he said/she said BS?

I already know I'm going to love the First Order from 'TFA' - hence my character here, and I already know Kylo Ren and the Knights Of Ren will kick ass as this will be as canon as the Empire soon enough.

But I don't like this squabbling. It's a shame to see.

Now shut-up insulting each other discreetly pleaaaase and let's get the First Order on the go!

I'm going to avoid this faction personally, not because I have anything against it, but merely because I don't want to be spoiled of any concept it decides to borrow. :p
