The Eyes of the Galaxy | SJO Invasion of the UCM's Azure Hex

Allies: [member="Fiore de Noir"] [member="Cardinam"]
Enemies: [member="Coren Starchaser"]
Location: Azure Surface

Vanessa listened to Cardinam as he elaborated on the battle situation. "In that case, my Dark Troopers can effectively engage the Silver Jedi as they come to the surface of the world." She replied. With two twelve-man units of bloodroopers, Vanessa would follow Cardinam and his units towards Coren and his associates - there was a rationale as to what could be done. Engagement with Coren and his units would certainly prove beneficial. Hopefully, Vanessa would get the opportunity to see some action.

This was quite different from how she was used to doing things.

Objective: Hold and Evacuation

This was what he was here for. A warrior, a defender, a Jedi.
It wasn’t going to be some last stand, these were just Mandalorians and their rabble. He knew there were Sith, and he had to sound the alarm. He was sounding the alarm, but there were others, these ones shooting at him, that were becoming an issue. From his last order, he expanded. Evacuation of civilians, they were not going to lose this FOB. Some of the Pathfinders were taking up positions as incoming Beskar Bogeys were approaching. Personal energy shields at the ready, Starchaser and a few Jedi with lightsabers drawn. But he still had given the expanded order.

Get non-combatants to the shuttles, and move.

He had a handful of Jedi with him at the FOB, others were off and chasing down the combat he was here to defend. A team of Jedi Sentinels, they all had their skills, two were taking a team of Rangers and Pathfinders to head out, find civilians, and request shuttles. He hoped the fleet was going to be fine, but he needed to move people, and move them fast.

But first. This.

“Hold fast, team.” He ordered, lightsaber moving to intercept bolts, and the Force was flowing, working to keep his team ready and aware. There were tough Mandalorians, he knew that. Some lived along the Rim, Visla, Skirata, and from their so-called Empire, Australis. He knew the latter was in space, their ship was there, he wouldn’t be down here too. But still, that clan could be here. Another bolt blasted for him, and he shook himself.

His focus was split, but there were incoming blasts. Handle those first, [member="Josh Dragonsflame"] was a strong Jedi, a great Jedi, but everyone always could use a hand. He was still throwing some focus towards Josh, aiding with the Light, a skill that was part and parcel of Coren’s approach. It would do well, but he had his own problems. The valor that was being pumped into the ether, one of the Sentinels moved to intercept the shots coming from the distance, the ones trained for Starchaser. The yellow blade moving quickly, able to take two of the shots, but the third finding their arm.

Pain in the Force. Starchaser shook his head.

They were going to need assistance at this FOB. And as he turned, there it was. Delivery of HK-Units. Wonderful. He looked at the droids. “Glad to have you. Need cover on this base. Snipers taking shots at us but we need to hold.” Watching his injured Jedi, he nodded. “If they are firing upon us, handle with extreme prejudice.”

He hated giving that order, especially to droids, but it was better them than living beings handling the fight. He’d have to make sure to thank [member="Celiana"] when this was all over.

Before turning back to the incoming, and looking skyward, he called out. “Report in!” To the teams of Silvers in his area. His seeker team reported that they were marking some locations of civilians. But with [member="Romi Jade"] and [member="Jerek Morrows"]. What he was hoping to hear, was a report from the other teams, [member="Seth Brackson"], [member="Yuroic Xeraic"], and [member="Tracyn Ordo"].

But for now, the defense must be mounted. More were coming, and the Jedi needed to move. He was holding onto giving Josh strength, but he felt he would need to turn that back to his own front. And they needed these civilians prepared, in case.

But Jedi did not fail.

Yes being a spoilsport was the way of the dark side.

Yet, she did know of some self-proclaimed Sith who would have been willing to gamble their Empire’s progress on their personal prowess. There was a reason they were never put in command of any armed forces beyond what they could train themselves. While the offer could be tempting, she had too much riding on her military career to take such risks.

Now, she still had a chance to capture Cotan Sar’andor.

Darth Vornskr the Second” “I am the Emperor’s daughter and heir.

He was much out of reach, and his stance was familiar. She rarely fought with the blade in the scabbard, but she recognised a similar position from the swordplay she practised. He was waiting to defend, displace, and counterattack. Her own position played a similar game, and if they were standing on a level field, she would have had more options.

The way they stood, the initiate would have to jump. That would leave them vulnerable. And yet-

And don’t mind if I do.

Her left hand released its grip on her blade and pulled something from her left wrist area. In a single, fluent motion she flung a small knife at Cotan’s chest. The knife itself was nothing special, just a blade made to be thrown and maybe distract him. Perhaps she could make him draw his blade to deflect, or at least make him move a little to avoid.

That could buy her the moment she needed.

The next step had her gathering the Force under her will as she splayed her fingers and pressed the palm down with purpose. She was trying to press the tip of Cotan’s waveskimmer down into the water and disrupt his footing.

Yes, they were there to have a swordfight, but she was not about to jump into his waiting blade when instead she could disrupt his footing.

A massive shadow covered much of the bridge dimming quite a bit of the light show of war going in space. If Amon hadn't been too busy he would've noticed. The same went for any communications coming from the Radama Raiders commanding officer [member="Valkren Calderon"]. Vizsla had shut off his comms and the Commander would simply receive static noise as an answer. Nonetheless, as the Radama Raiders made their way through the weakened Terror Australis they would most likely rendezvous with the remaining troopers of Task Force Raider who were ordered to secure an LZ for an eventual escape from the ship.

None of this mattered to Amon Vizsla.

All mattered was his obsessive quest for retribution.

The slashes hit home but the titan of an armor didn't completely give in. Tough and thick material wouldn't let him reach for flesh, not yet. Sound of bullets from Scherezade crashed into the legendary looking weapon Australis wielded. Amon registered that but not the balls of doom hovering around Kaine like a halo. They spewed fire at him and Vizsla's assault ceased immediately as he caught some of the shots. Sections of the armor hit turned immediately to burned black and took back the Mandalorian. Sweat flooded down his brow from the intense heat of bolts in intimate range of his own flesh. Pain forced his teeth to grind at each other and eyes to wince.

Out of actual melee range from the heavily armored Kaine, he raised his wrist and fired a few shots of his ion paddle beamer wrist weapon at the some of the balls and at Australis himself, too. Amon had geared himself with that particular weapon due to the initial objective of capturing Kaine Australis alive but that objective seemed to far in the back of his mind for him to remember. He had come aboard this ship as an Antarian Ranger but upon reaching the bridge he had become nothing less than a Mandalorian of Clan Vizsla.

Objective: The usual.

His hold on the axe haft was all that kept him upright.

A scowl.

This wasn't clean. Ronan looked up, following her gaze, seeing the fluids spill. His hand grasped the heft tighter... and then violently twisted it, before letting go. Causing her more pain and more internal damage. "I leave you with that prize. If you survive? Come and find me. If you are brave enough to face me again." A grunt and Vizsla left her there. Already his stride firmer, quicker, as his wounds were healing. Was it prize that he had said? Or price? Or maybe it was both. Usually Ronan didn't like to leave his battles... unfinished.

It felt like half a work.

Vizsla enjoyed vengeance as much as the next blood-thirsty Mandalorian, but he didn't let himself be blinded by it. Maybe she would be lucky enough to survive. Very maybe she would be stupid enough to try and find him for her own vengeance.

They'd have their rematch in that possibility.

In the distance a mighty roar sounded.

The metal under his feet shuddering violently. The klaxons echoed through the corridors. He had picked the right way- not pursuing her life, the ship was already being evacuated.

Reaching Asaraa, Caedyn got to her first. It was understandable his concern for her but Kat knew that Asaraa would do whatever she could to keep people safe. There was obviously something troubling wherever Asaraa was in her mind, this was evident from her lack of response to Caedyn. However things got out of hand, her nose was bleeding then there was the coughing of blood. Kat shook her head and looked to Caedyn, Asaraa was pushing her body beyond the limit it could do, she was causing dangerous physical harm as well as mental strain that she could be doing. Looking her over, Kat then snapped her gaze to the soldiers. "Stretcher, now. We need to lay her down, I can treat best I can with healing but she needs to stop whatever she is doing if she wants to avoid serious, irreversible damage."

Kat looked to Caedyn with a serious gaze, "I might need your help with helping her, I'm going to be busy helping her physical body but I am not sure how her psyche is keeping, could you ensure that she realises she needs to stop or at least reduce the pressure she is putting on herself." Kat then inhaled deeply, while she was far from an expert healer, or even an average healer, she knew she needed to do the best that she could. Placing her hands on the temples of Asaraa, Kat poured her Force powers into Asaraa's body, weaving the Force inside Asaraa to mend and maintain the body as best as Kat could.

It was harder than Kat could have predicted, it was causing Kat to have a migraine but she closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. She could do this, she need to keep her friend safe.

Something shifted as Nadi waited for a response.

Her shoulders rising up. No longer that oppressive weight trying to push her down. It took a moment for her to realize what it was. Nadi couldn't feel the hatred spinning out of control beneath their feet. Azure was distant now. She glanced up noticing the tension and distraction from Mariel. No Force savant herself, but she could add up one plus one.

Her own paw petting Mariel's wing.

"I won't fail you, Master Dawnrider. Thank you." And then the Nezumi bounded away from her Master. Beaming with pride. She believed in her and was sacrificing her own strength to shield her.

That meant something to Nadora.

Meant everything to her.

A smol thing had an easy path downwards. Between little spaces, openings, until she managed to descend right next to a console. Still beeping. Brows furrowed as Nadi paced back and forth for a bit. Then making a decision, unwinding a smol datapad from her wrist, then starting to cut through the wires connecting the consoles to the rest of the ship.

Just a little bit of the insulation gone, so she could hijack into it.

In the meantime she flipped the comms in her helmet. Grimacing almost immediately at the sheer volume. Lowering it quickly, before smiling.

Master Dawnrider- the comms are up!! Nadi whispered through the winds, hoping to reach her. Someone else must have put them back on! I am slicing into the consoles now. Going to download as much as I can. Stay strong.

Laira gasped when the haft of the weapon twisted in her shoulder, the Mandalorian limping away with a few parting words. Laira tried to say something back before he left her there in her own blood, but couldn’t get the words out.

Instead through tears she pulled the haft out of her shoulder, letting it clatter against the deck. Her grey eyes turned to the bluish glow coming from the fractured reactor casing and the liquid leaking from the cracks. “Yeah you better run,” she muttered finally, pulling herself to sit up against the bulkhead.

The redhead wanted to run, she wanted to dart after him, or probably race towards a ship, but she couldn’t get her bearings enough to drag herself to her feet. She was stuck there in that reactor room, and she knew it.

Laira’s mind turned towards home and her friends in what could be her last moments, watching as the core burst into blinding white light just after she disappeared.

zwIzcve.png

Leo sprinted through corridor, disintigrating a Mandalorian who had tried to ambush him until the Death Trooper made it to the ladder leading up to the reactor core. He took it in four steps, hauling back to his feet. He was too late to glimpse Ronan leaving, too late to do much of anything as he skidded to a stop before the core.

He could see her feet laying there, blood smeared all around, within the core room. The glow from the reactor, the stench of reactor fluid. His helmet’s geiger counter clicked and buzzed. Leo pushed himself forward trying to get to her in time when the reactor burst, the blast slamming him against the far corridor, cracking his head against the metal. His vision blurred, Leo could only see white-blue fire coming from the reactor room, filling the doorway with an unassailable radioactive fire.

He was too late.

Saeza dragged the Ranger with the help of the Force through the corridors and onto a little shuttle that had been left in the hangar, claiming it for her and her friends as she ran through the start up sequence. Other ships in the hangar were doing the same, some of the escape pods were jettisoning. Warning klaxons echoed all around the little Vong Jedi who rushed through the greenligth process.

DT-967, come in.” She called on the comms. The ship shuddered and rumbled around the little shuttle. “J1-1?” Saeza reached out in the Force, touching each of their presences to ensure she could still feel them. Laira’s was faint, weak and fluttering, then suddenly gone, though without the usually cold void she had felt from others as they died. The ship shuddered again, metal twisting.

Finally the Death Trooper’s distorted voice echoed through the comlink. “Meet me at the dorsal emergency hatch.

Did you get Laira? I can’t sense her.

Just meet me there.

"Asaraa..."

He could feel her presence behind him. She might not be there in person, but he could feel her behind him, arms wrapped around him, within the Force. His eyes widened as he could feel her siphoning her own energy in bulk to send toward him. He'd nearly lost consciousness, but her energy quickly woke him back up and he very quickly began to apply it to use. Jedi such as [member="Coren Starchaser"] lended their strength as well, and Josh took a deep breath as he pushed back against the force of the storm once more. The gaps in the barrier began to patch up, as the party down below in the FOB were for the time, safe from the storm once more.

But he knew he wouldn't be able to hold on like this forever, even with the help. And the other Jedi wouldn't be able to help him hold on forever either. Especially Asaraa, who...

"Asaraa!"

His voice yelped out, both in their connection in the Force as well as aloud. In their brush together in the Force, he could feel her slipping. She had been using Battle Meditation for far too long, and for a battle far beyond her means right now. And now she was focusing the last of what she had on him, but now she was beyond what she could give... Yet she kept giving.

No.

"Asaraa, you need to stop!" Josh called out to Asaraa, unable to stop himself from calling it out verbally just as he was crying out to her in the Force. "Asaraa, you can't take anymore of this!"

Asaraa was a strong Jedi. She was his pride and joy as a student, but... She had her limits and she had reached them. While Coren could continue to supply, Asaraa was not able to continue to do so to this capacity. She was strong... But not like this, not yet. But she kept it up. She kept going. Everything she focused on him was put into keeping him going, continuing to bring up this barrier. But his mind was divided in two directions. Saving everyone... And Asaraa. His former Padawan. His friend. Someone he cared for very much. And someone who was slipping. Someone who he could feel ebbing away here and now.

"Please, Asaraa! You need to cut this off now! You'll die!" He screamed, but she didn't stop and her presence grew fainter and fainter until he almost couldn't feel her anymore. "ASARAA!" The Jedi bellowed desperately at the top of his lungs, his hands shaking, tears beginning to run violently down his face. "Please... Please, please don't leave me, I'm almost there, I can manage it, please hold on..." He begged softly before he finally managed to cut off their connection for the time being, not an easy feat with all that he was juggling right now and something he would have been able to do sooner otherwise. He could no longer sense Asaraa. He didn't know if he'd managed to stop her, or if she had simply collapsed, or worse... He didn't know.

He didn't know. And that terrified him. But he realized it meant more than ever that he needed to do this. No matter how crappy he felt, he had to keep going. For everyone he was protecting here and now... And for the Jedi like Coren and Asaraa who had sacrificed so much to keep him going. He thought back a moment to what he had told [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] and [member="Dusaro Dresari"] during their knighting ceremonies...

Walk tall... Stand your ground... And know that I will always be proud of you. That was what he had said.

He supposed it was his turn.

Stubborn determination and sheer will kept him going as the Jedi began to correct his posture, righting himself as he pushed forward against the storm, for all the pain that it caused him, for all that it wracked his body. He seethed against the pain as he called out as if in defiance against it.

"I will stand my ground! I will walk tall!" The Jedi Master declared to his opponent. To overwhelming odds. To something that should seem impossible. He wasn't usually the type for dramatic speeches, but the adrenaline that coursed through his body, the blood, sweat and tears that ran down his face, and the sheer determination that drove him... It all seemed to stir something in him that he'd never had before.

"This... Is what it means... To be a Jedi."

--------------

Meanwhile on the ground, The Silver Jedi Order's Champion Squad, part of the Antarian Rangers, had been fighting down below when the storm had begun. Most of them had thought they were going to die, but the bright flash of light and the barrier that appeared above gave them pause. They had ceased, and stopped to stare at it after their squad leader, Ranger Antonio Parks, had paused at the sight of it. The dark-skinned, muscular Ranger was approached by a shorter man with short brown hair and a large bushy beard.

"Wut da 'eck ish that, Parks?"

"I'm not sure" The dark-skinned man noted to his comrade, Ranger Billy Thornberry, codenamed "Bill Thorn" or just "Thorn" by his comrades. "I can't feel any of this Force stuff, but somehow I recognize this feeling. Like it belongs to someone I know."

Another man, about medium in height who looked to be a fresh-faced recruit with long brown hair, joined the group and pointed up toward the center of the barrier. "Is that a guy up there, dere?"

"Ah belieb that is" Thorn responded, pointing up at the figure who seemed to be holding the barrier up. "Who ip that?"

"That..." Parks responded, taking out his sight enhancement tools and looking through them to get a closer look. "... Dear god, that's Master Dragonsflame."

Parks almost dropped the scope he was holding, when he realized the man that had saved him after being kidnapped and almost sold to a slave camp, appeared to be in a great deal of pain. "Whatever he's doing, it's holding this storm back."

Just then, a great of battle droids had begun firing on the Jedi, and their bolts were getting too close to the target of their sight.

"If he goes down, we all die!" Parks called to his squad members. "Champion Squad, we need to take down the battle droids, now!" He barked to them as they began to advance. "CHAMPION SQUAD!" Parks bellowed out as they began their attack, opening fire on the droids. "CHARGE!"

Saeza pulled the shuttle out of the hangar, dropping its nose through the integrity field and urging the vessel around the damaged cruiser, seeing the bluish flames burst from holes in the vessel. The little vehicle listed around the dorsal edge of the ship as it was evacuated. For a moment she worried that her friends wouldn’t make it, but before long the rear hatch was being knocked upon in the agreed upon sequence. Saeza hit the button and activated a temporary airlock field so that the door could open allowing the Death Trooper inside.

As soon as the door sealed and the field dropped, Saeza was at his side, “Where’s Laira?

She didn’t make it.” He grunted dropping his helmet to the deck as he made his way to the cockpit. “Kinda like her.” His finger pointed at the deceased Silver Jedi Ranger laying on the deck.

The sephi-looking girl furrowed her brow, “Strange, I didn’t feel her die.

Well, I watched it happen. Probably didn’t feel it because she got turned to ash by the reactor.” Leo dropped into the pilot’s seat with Jester beeping, taking the shuttle away from the damaged ship.

No, I didn’t feel it. She just disappeared, it was different from when someone dies.” Saeza explained, moving to sit in the co-pilot’s chair beside him

She’s dead.” Leo snapped, giving the young girl a guttural snarl and a pointed finger. “Leave it be. Let’s just get out of here.

Saeza looked at her friend confused, but reluctantly remained silent, helping him plot a course back the Rebel Outcast.

"I might need your help with helping her, I'm going to be busy helping her physical body but I am not sure how her psyche is keeping, could you ensure that she realizes she needs to stop or at least reduce the pressure she is putting on herself" [member="Kat Decoria"] said.

Caedyn had already started to concentrate on the strength and power being pulled from [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]'s body and mind, the practice of battle meditation proving more than she was presently capable of giving without costing her physical life-force. All Force Practitioners had a limit to their ability before their practice would begin to draw from their core energies rather than their present aura of control and sustainability; Asaraa had over-spent, and her life had started to suffer for it. This was what Cae had first noticed and why he hadn't hesitated in providing his partner with his own presence for which she would be able to draw strength from, in order to keep her physical body from collapse, and her mind from caving under the weight and stress of the output of energies.

Caedyn's eyes remained closed, and unfortunately he hadn't heard all of Kat's words as he had been doing his utmost to summon his strength, channeling it through his arms and intro Asaraa's center; Kat's instruction found his subconscious in the absence of his attention, and in his impulsive and emergent meditation, he would move with the group when required, yet refused to take his hands away from Asaraa.

[member="Phylis Alince"] and [member="Coci Heavenshield"] had both been aiding Caedyn in his training of the force a lot lately. The ability to instill an object with the Force, to sustain that exterior cage for which would hold this powerful energy; Providing the similar technique to a person was something else entirely, and yet his time training over the past several months seemed to be making the process much easier than it otherwise could have been.

Focusing upon Asaraa's heart, he could feel every beat as it pumped the blood throughout her body. In much the same way, Caedyn had flushed her with the Force drawn from their environment and harnessed in himself, then providing it to her for which the Battle-Meditation would be renewed, strengthened and have another source of which to be fueled, no longer damaging his girlfriend in the expense. She too would find the ease in her self-control and awareness of the situation, no longer under such enormous mental strain, his presence would feel far stronger now, giving all that he could offer in order to save her life and keep the aid to their people from fading away.

The trio hunched over the holo-maps railing as they watched the battle unfold. Gir studied the map with pained fascination, thinking not only about tactics, but the ramifications of the battle. It had already been a bloody and costly battle, and the man found himself wondering if it really was worth the cost despite Azure's strategic location. Doubt began to loom in his mind which was only exacerbated by the Snaggletooth's escape into hyperspace. More that got away? Or more driven away in defeat? He wasn't entirely sure how to interpret that move. He pressed his lips together. Only means that there are fewer of them to kill here, right? Less lives to be loss? That brought some measure of comfort to him which was in turn promptly dashed by the Never Again firing upon the Plo Koon as the star destroyer jetted to enjoin the Rathalay Resolution. A massive barrage of light and weapons fire smashed through the ship's weak shielding and into the hull. Plating caved as it distintegrated underneath the heat, turning molten red. His heart dropped. Thousands more dead. He suddenly felt grateful for the existence of droid crews. The Mak Lotor cruised up to better cover up the new gaping hull of the star destroyer. Gir's eyes scanned over the Plo Koon's statistics.

"Full turn about, cloak us," ordered Tierson.

"We have to consider that the Plo Koon's crew will likely need to abandon ship soon. Take us back, and let's start concentrating our efforts on the Never Again."

With that, the Silver Jedi command staff began orchestrating the movement of dozens of ships back towards the center of the battlefield. Hundreds of starfighters that previously had been engaging the Snaggletooth and its accompanying starfighters turned around to make more attack runs on the Never Again or screen nearby friendly ships. The Stellar Argonaut began leading the train of other smaller warships that had accompanied the Silver Tide, while the heavy cruiser detachment shifted their fire from the Snaggletooth and unto the Never Again. Dozens of Starlance Assault Missiles began to jet out of the Pelagics' bays while hundreds of plasma energy torpedoes streaked from all of the heavy cruisers. We may have driven off most of their fleet, but it doesn't matter if we can't drive off the Never Again. I'll guess we'll have to see how tough she is. He spared a glance at the map again...and if we show up at the right place and the right time...

'It's time...' the words entered his thoughts, Veiere's eyes opening as he turned to look towards the transparisteel window. Removing his harness to the transports seating, Veiere rose to his feet and gestured to [member="Lucera Maive"] to follow suit and prepare for their departure into this new hell that Prazutis had created for the world.

"Alright we're here, Masters" their pilot called back over the mic and the sound of rapid winds slamming against the hull of the personnel transport; "Unless you're carrying a miracle, this is a one way trip. I hope you know what you're both doing!". The vessel touched down upon the surface of Azure once more, the loading bay doors opening and introducing the pair of Jedi to the torrential hail of wind and debris being cast about the land gradually being consumed by the Force Storm.

Raising his left hand, Veiere called upon the force to surround and protect the pair of them, casting a visible, transparent blue wall of natural energy to keep the two from being struck by anything from the rushing winds, or the loose debris that had been pulled from the earth due to it's violent power. Veiere's meditation had been pivotal to the threat that had awaited their arrival, and though he had been with the Order for the majority of his life, the sustained and long-term practice of the Force was surely to cost him, regardless of their success against the Dark Ritual.

"Save your strength until we reach the eye!" Veiere shouted over the defeaning sounds of the storm thrashing the ground around them, everything being uplifted as though they were walking through the midst of a vast hurricane; streaks of lightening flashed across the sky, some striking the ground not so far from where they walked. Bolts of red and white, natural force corrupted by the Dark-Side and empowering the destructive results of the world's current climate.

Veiere would struggle to keep them safe from the unnatural force that clawed and swept against the Force Shield that he had created, as if the Force Storm had a will of it's own and threatened to devour the both. Lightning flashed, striking closer even still, though Veiere refused to turn back. By now their Transport had surely departed, though they'd not been able to hear her engines over the full impact and sound of the maelstrom they'd entered..

'Just a little further...-You can rest when Azure is safe...' he told himself, feeling as though his physical strength was being tested as much so as his control of the Force against such startling and offensive concussive power. It truly looked like some form of hell surrounding them, nothing of their environment appearing natural, calm and peaceful as the World had been before the monstrous works of [member="Darth Prazutis"].

Just a little further, and then they could strike back at the dark-side ritual with the pure light of the force.

Standing there, Adenn observed Allya as she no doubt observed him, it was a meeting of predators. What came next was obvious, a fight, one where Adenn swore to himself to prove himself and his ways to be the alpha. Whatever happened, there would be a fight, one that perhaps would be spoken about for ages in history, or just left as another footnote. Regardless, Adenn continued to observe the supposed Mando before him, bowing his head towards her to return her bow. He didn't quite know if it was a respectful bow or a mocking one, so he met her halfway. Then she began to speak and Adenn wondered at the arrogance of the woman.

No honor? No honor?! She seemed to Adenn to be even more delusional than he had originally anticipated. Then again, regardless of what happened, someone would always be the enemy in anothers story, and this proved it true. What Adenn did was true and just, he didn't claim to anything but he was. A Mandalorian who hunted Jedi and Sith, one who had returned to wars against a Mand'alor who he now called daughter, one who would do anything to defend other Mandalorians. He knew what he was, though that changed in her eyes, and for now that wasn't a good change. Then again, he hardly cared about her opinion, his clan and family approved of him, and his enemies opinions hardly mattered. Unless it brought pointless war to peaceful planets, as it had done at Tanaab, Eshan, and more.

Bloodshed, it was never pointless, even the blood of innocents. Adenn firmly believed that, and even if he enjoyed bloodshed and war, he didn't enjoy it when it came for undue reasons and because others labeled them as things they weren't. Then again, the Mandos had done similar things before, brought war to innocents, killed countless people. But they didn't claim to be peacekeepers while waging war, like the Jedi. Nor did they claim to fight for the Force, something that caused more strife than a thousand clans of Mandalorians. Something that had caused Allyas strife as well.

Grinning slightly behind his helmet, Adenn took note that she was a forcie, good thing he had his void stone on hand, along with other FU hunting tools. Letting out a short barked laugh, Adenn spoke, voice unchanged from before.
"You're against their beliefs? Doesn't seem like it. They fight wars, bring bloodshed and death, so do Mandalorians. But we never claim to be anything but what we are, unlike Jedi and their peacekeeping ways." Shaking his head, Adenn kept his eyes solely on Allya. "Fight when they do, but don't hide it under labels of peacekeeping and tyrant disposal. Stay to the truth or don't bother talking or fighting. Especially when your truth is so skewed by your blame, when you don't even know why you fight, why you attack! "

Adenn fell silent then, allowing her to continue speaking. He was dar'manda? Not hardly. Sneering behind his helmet, Adenn felt his contempt rising. Yasha became Mand'alor because no one else would step up to the challenge, because everyone else was too weak and didn't care enough about Mandalore.
"If you really believe that, why haven't you challenged her? Hm, explain that. I have seen nor heard a whisper of a challenge to her rule, only this war. As for that dark side shab, you trust me to believe you in that?" Letting out another laugh, Adenn pressed the tip of his sword into the deck below his feet while leaning forward slightly. "We aren't the dogs of the Sith anymore than you would claim to disagree with the jetii while fighting alongside them. Jedi and Mandalorians have fought for eons and will for countless eons more, the Sith are the only ones who've offered a single hair of help to us, while everyone else sought to destroy us. I'd rather be allied to them than to Jedi who won't even come to a negotiating table, who prevented the clans from aiding their Mand'alor through force of arms, while claiming to hold the peace." Still sneering, Adenn chuckled quietly, a sound filled with the promise of pain and violence.

"No Allya of Clan Vi'Dreya, I am no dar'manda. I fight to protect the Mando'ade while you fight to destroy us, all under false pretenses. Honestly, I wouldn't be mad if you and yours fought properly, fought on under true reasons, instead you use lies as a pretext to fight us." Lifting his sword and pointing the tip at her, he continued. "Learn a lesson this day, jetii tidkasa(Jedi lapdog), my clan and I fight for Manda'yaim, not for the dar'jetii. You... you fight for the jetii, under lies and deception, all to fell righteous. Learn something this day Allya of Clan Vi'Dreya, learn that your narrative is false, that those you fight don't fight for what you think we fight for. Learn also this, no matter what happens, no matter how many die, you will never win."

Then he attacked. He had taken note of her weapon, of her stance, of everything, and found it lacking. His attack wasn't the best for that reason, as it was also a probe to see if she had any secrets to reveal. With his blade being pushed to the side, Adenn simply rolled with it, intending to twist around and face her once more. Instead he was hit with a jolt of electricity from the phrik as it touched his blade. Supressing the roar of pain, Adenn instead grunted loudly, feeling his arms numb, he pushed through the pain. He'd felt worse on many different planets, a little jolt of electricity wouldn't really harm him that much, but it did hinder him. Sadly, due to the vong crabs worked into the armor, Adenn felt the electricity jolt through his entire body, making him go numb.

Growling in pain, Adenn barely saw the lightsaber going for his hand, thankfully he had his crushgaunts on and they protected his hands. Turning his hand so that the spikes faced the lightsaber, Adenn gritted his teeth to the pain of the electricity that still coursed through his body slightly, even as the lightsaber hit his hand right on the plate, exactly on the spikes. Now regretting forgoing the use of cortosis in the spikes, Adenn simply let the lightsaber hit his hand. Then he ripped his hand from the handle of his weapon, aiming to backhand Allya with the spikes on the back of his hand.

Then Adenn took 2 quick steps back, putting some distance between the 2 of them. Holding his beskad in his left hand now, right hand curled into a fist and to his side. His guards stirred, their anger raised for being called destroyers of a planet they defended, they had destroyed before, and Tanaab hadn't truly been scratched. Adenn snarled behind his helmet and spit back with a voice filled with venom.

"Destroyer? Little adiik(child), you don't seem to know the meaning of the word. I destroyed blocks, while whichever chakaar in space bombarded my men destroyed far more of the city. They blew up nearly half the city, that is more in line with being a destroyer. I kept the wounded safe on that planet, a planet of peace and prosperity, that wanted to be within the fold of the UCM. The CIS brought war and death to a world that isn't like every other Mando. Those of Clan Tal are true peace makers, not like the jetii." Spitting that last word out, Adenn would press an attack, swinging his arm towards Allya. He intended to grab her and drag her towards himself if possible, while at the same time swinging his beskad towards her once more, aiming for a weak point in the armor.

When the buzz droids first scattered, the Mando crews continued after bigger clumps before realizing the damage the smaller ones were still doing. They then scattered as well, chasing after the droids like mad men. Aiming their shots carefully, they made sure to not damage equipment, an effort in futility. There were too many things to accidentally hit, so it was bound that things were damaged. Thankfully they hit mainly auxiliary things, but a few more important items were hit. Said items were immediately set upon to be fixed so nothing would stop the fighting in space.

With the droids in one of the generator rooms, the crew were fighting valiantly against the little buzz droids and seemingly winning. Then they began to hear thunking in the vents, not knowing what it was, they had prepared for the worst. As such, an EMP grenade was primed and thrown at the B1s corpse as soon as it emerged. At the same time, several blasts were fired at the buzz droids in the hopes of killing them. Even as the virus was fought off, more crew were directed to fight droids and deal with anything that had been broken.

The explosion from the B1 was dampened by the EMP grenade, but not blocked completely. As such everything in 1.5m(5ft) of the blast site was vaporized, droids, consoles, and crew members all. The generator the explosion was next to rocked under the force of the explosion, its hull partially cracked, causing the ship to vibrate slightly in tune to the generator. Then came the attacks from the 3 ships from Allya. The hanger didn't so much explode as cease to exist, the shield there was weakest and with the generator damaged, even weaker than before. What was in the hanger crumbled under the fire, even as more Fang ships came to attack the Shabuir.

Their attack runs were semi successful. Some of the Mandos on the ship were hit, other times they were missed and instead buzz droids were hit, or even worse, the shield was hit. Defense turrets turned to fire upon this new threat even as the Mandos on the ship did the same. Firing off jetpack rockets, wrist rockets, or using other means to attack the ships, the crew fought back viciously, even as they continued to hound the buzz droids for all they were worth. A few braver or insaner Mandalorians used their jetpacks to fly up and attack the star fighters directly. They hoped to land on the fighters and plant bombs, or chuck magnetic bombs to them in the hopes of detonating them. Some of these brave fools were hit by the fighters, others shot, and others yet dodged shots and the fighters. It was a dance of death, one they did to the best of their abilities.

Jerek Morrows

A Jedi's Life is Sacrifice.
He had hardly anticipated to do damage, and honestly, he hoped the most he might get out of the deal would be a wound enough to convince the Mandalorian to stand down. When the sound of servomotors whirred within the armor and revealed that it was more than the standard beskar'gam, Jerek knew he had made a slight miscalculation.

Slight, because the time it took for the man to fall and right himself was enough to have his lightsaber in hand, if not ignited once more. For most denizens of the Galaxy, the very sight of a Lightsaber was enough to quell thoughts of dissension. He doubted that was true of a member of the warrior culture.

That was why he held the weapon ready, rather than left it at his side. Force forbid, he might actually need it. "We don't need to fight," Jerek called as the man prepared himself and launched into a drive toward the Shadow.

Jerek took the scant seconds he had to slip backward, putting the corner of the building between them. [member="Laandur Solus"] would have to turn and break his momentum in order to renegotiate the manner of his charge. It would take away the power added by his armor, and level the playing field a bit.

Essentially, it would allow Jerek to finish speaking. "There are civilians on this world. This isn't their battle. I think we can both agree on that much."

He gestured with his left hand. "That storm- that's not normal, you understand. Anomalies like that, born of the dark side of the Force, they're intended to wipe out life on planets. Is that what you want, Mandalorian?"

“Would you say…I became a hero?”
- Zack Fair, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Tired, she was just so tired and cold. Asaraa could remember Josh, remember the pain coursing through her body, the bright burning agony of the force searing through her, the desperate struggle to find just that ounce more power those few more seconds or agony she’d had to endure to keep it going just a few moments longer. She could remember the fear, the agony in Josh’s mind as he’d pleaded with her to let go, the sorrow that seemed to fill him. That was just silly though, it was what they did, what a Jedi did, protect people…all those people who needed something to protect them against the storm the Mandalorians had unleashed on them. Didn’t he understand she’d failed already? She’d taken everything she had, burned as bright as any of the stars that littered the starry landscapes of the heavens. Everything she could muster and she’d thrown it against the dark sun at the centre of the storm…and it hadn’t done anything.

Not a scratch, not even a moment’s hesitation. All that power and it amounted to nothing, she couldn’t break it, couldn’t stop what was coming. So, she’d tried to save them instead, it was the only way she could apologise. All their lives, all their hopes and dreams for the future torn asunder and scattered to the capracious winds simply because she wasn’t strong enough. She couldn’t stop him, she hadn’t been strong enough to hold onto the shield either. Time and again she’d tried, time and again she’d failed. Josh had been worried that she’d given too much, maybe the truth of it was she hadn’t given enough? There was still a little energy she’d had to give left.

Asaraa raised a hand, or tried to, the energy that made up her ethereal body was dark now, the light that had once illuminated her faded to almost nothing. Not that it mattered anymore, all the pain, all that anguish and people they all felt so far away now, just a memory fading away like her, just floating on the sea of the force. She’d commanded it once, a rock against the storms that ravaged it, pressing her will on the ocean to rise up and fight but now…now it was placid, the warm embrace curled up around her as she faded away. It would just be so much easier to stop now, stop fighting. She wouldn’t have to betray anyone else, she wouldn’t have to fail them. They could all just move on without her, be happier. Maybe she’d helped some people, maybe someone had survived because of her, that would be nice. A mark on the galaxy, a moment of triumph, that one life, those two. Maybe they’d go on to do great things, or maybe nothing special, just living out their life, but she’d given them that chance.

That’d be nice. Crystal blue eyes closed as the girl let her body go limp, surrendering it to the sea of the force.

I’m sorry everyone, I love you all. Please don’t forget me.

She let go of the Battle meditation that she’d clung to like a lifeline, let go of everything, exhaustion and sadness all that she had left. It wasn’t how she’d imagined going out but, there were worse ways to die…so why was she still here?

It took willpower she didn’t know she still had to raise her hand, to stare at the almost invisible shape, it was gone, drifted away on the force but…there was still a core of light threaded through her being. Like stitches holding her together when she had nothing left of her own. A trembling finger prodded at it, feeling the warmth of the light almost like a brand searing through her. It felt warm, familiar, a memory of a smile, or splashing water and a campfire.

A memory of Caedyn. A taste of his resolve, his determination. For the first time in what felt like eons a smile touched the edges of the girl’s lips. He just wouldn’t let go would he. Her eyes flickered open, dulled but the icy blue gaze still there, still waiting. She could feel a heartbeat, feel the agony of her tortured body, she could feel home. The girl reached out one hand to touch the energy of the force that surrounded her, let it’s touch pulse through her, not pulling on it, not again, just aware of it. Aware of the undercurrent of death and pain, the river of souls she could still feel even as she felt the flesh of her body surround her once more, the agony knifing through her, driving her towards the welcome blackness of unconsciousness.

I’m sorry I couldn’t stop him, that I couldn’t save you. I tried my best. Please forgive me.

Scherezade screamed as the angle cut hit her hard, slashing her from shoulder to hip. While the armor took most of the damage, she could already feel the blood tickling in the spots where it had not, the textiles that made it becoming quickly sticky both on the inside and the out. In the back of her mind, she knew she was on borrowed time; as long as she was pinned in place it wouldn't take too long.

Among the cut and the spheres that were shooting, hitting her too often for comfort, she could feel her body slipping. Where once the girl was called the best pin cushion in the 'verse, it now returned to that moment exactly. Beneath her armor was an endless array of scars, earned one by one as she arrived at combat scene after combat scene wearing nothing but simple denims and t-shirts. Her back though… Even now, she laughed bitterly, it would remain untouched. She had begun to wear armor just before she had killed herself, and months before that she had skinned her entire back, removing any trace that she had once been a Mandragora. There had been no friends among those witches, and only one that had pretended to be a sister but then betrayed her. She'd wanted nothing to do with them and had thus wiped her back clean, turning it as smooth as a baby's butt thanks to modern technology.

And the one scar that held meaning. The scar over her heart, where a lightsaber had once passed neatly through. How people had so worried that it had been the Jedi that had done that to her and cared nothing that the real pain had come later from those she thought she could trust. The rest of her body was scars upon scars as well, yet from all the wounds and all the reminders that were etched upon her body, the one over her breast, her heart, was the only one that truly hurt, even if the tissues had long ago healed completely.

And now… Outdone by a stinking Mandalorian. The very people who had attempted to kill her line almost a millennia ago. The very same people who had become so weak that killing them, as she had explained to a friend, was the kind of mercy that you would give a too injured dog. And her he stood now, in a suit that was so large that it erased almost any sense of the human that was beneath, covering himself with a void stone like some sort of a coward, hitting her hard, hard enough to kill her if she did not move.

No!

Glowing green eyes snapped open and the Sithling spit the blood that had begun to pool in her mouth. "Beshem hadam shebetochi ani mekalelet otcha," she snarled at [member="Kaine Australis"]. She could feel the Force beginning to gather beneath her skin, but it was slow, so slow, because of the void stone in his armor, too slow. "Meklulal!" she hissed as she tried again, fighting against an invisible wall that attempted to keep her abilities at bay.

Raising an arm, she managed to flick her right wrist, the laser beam that came from it aimed directly at his helmet; if she could not burn it off, she would hurt his eyesight, if such a thing were possible at all, but only for a moment.

Grinning, the deWinter then changed her aim – and the laser went straight for the controls. If she could just hit them right, it would not be long before the planet's gravitation began to pull it towards them.

All she and [member="Amon Vizsla"] had to do was not die before it happened.

With her other hand, she released more Glitter Bullet shots, aiming them at the helmet, the connection of the helmet to the torso, and the torso. Melt, Force damn you!

As her eyes cracked open, the luminescent glow cast a faint light atop her purple cheek. Slowly she looked up at Master Veiere as her fingers reached up to undo the harness. Perhaps later she would have time to lament the soreness in her shoulders and neck from the less than placid arrival. In that moment, however, there was only the storm and how it tore at their transport.

"Go back. Save any civilians you find in the path of this Storm, if you can," Lucera cried out over the pounding of the wind on the hull. She could accept a one way trip if it saved lives. That had been her choice in that cavern where a Sith cult turned their weapon on the hostages fleeing their captivity; it would be her choice now.

Lucera followed Veiere out of the ship, prepared for the onslaught ahead. Her eyes widened when the Master conjured a protective field aboutt hem, however. Whats more, he called out for her to save her strength. Lifted brow and parted lips greeted his command, but she only answered Veiere with a nod in the end. He was the wiser of the pair -- the ranking Master, if you will -- and she would not attempt to argue with him as the world was shredded around them.

Her brow pinched over her nose at the living catastrophe all around them. Every step them cut through the waking nightmare brought them deeper into its embrace. The Dark Side presence that consumed and lashed the planet was all around them; its corruption fueled this unnatural monstrosity and its very existence stabbed at Lucera's heart. To think the one with such power used it to destroy worlds. Such potential could benefit the galaxy. Heavenly swords of white and red plunged toward the ground and cracked the sky. This was not the Will of the Force, she wanted to howl. The Force was so much more.

Even with the protective shield, the Keshiri Master could feel the onslaught bearing down on them. Feel it weigh on Veiere at her side. She reached out and lay a hand against the back of his shoulder to lend him the strength in knowing he was not alone in this. If need be, she would help him forge a path through the darkness, and into its heart. An abyss where together they would shatter the foul conjuring that'd brought this cruel visitation on Azure.

I am with you, Lucera thought. The Force is with us.

Every moment she was forced to watch what must have once been a beautiful and pristine world be rent apart by someone's unbridled rage and hatred spurred the Keshiri on. Once they released their power to dismantle this abomination, Azure would again know peace. It would stand, and its people would return to the place they called their home. That had been her promise to those people, and she would keep it at any cost.

The hand upon his back was no small gesture, [member="Lucera Maive"] reminding the Jedi Master that he had not gone into this endeavor on his own. He would not accept the aid of drawing upon her presence within the Force, for this was why he had taken the time to meditate; furthermore the greatest challenge for the pair of them was yet to come.

The trek into the hellish maelstrom overhead bore down upon the pair of them with all it's ugly might, Veiere managing to sustain the Force Shield that surrounded them both, yet more than a couple times his knee's had buckled beneath the weight and stress of it all. The tunic that lay beneath his armor had become drenched in sweat and the look of his face seemed to have aged him in this fight alone.

Unlike most natural storm formations, the eye of the Force Storm was the most violent and tumultuous place to be walking into. Back upon Atrisia, five sith had conjured and given their lives to create such a monstrosity, they whom happened to be allied with Cedric Grayson all those years ago. A once-felt brother to Veiere, and now an uneasy memory to surface in the nostalgia of facing down a similar threat, with the knowledge of how long it had taken Atrisia to recover; an incident that the entirety of the Galaxy had taken note of, and struggled to forget.

"We're here!" Veiere shouted over the cascade of lightening striking the earth around them, smaller funnels and water-spouts picking up in the form of smaller tornado's as if to emphasize the share mass and ferocity of the far greater Force Storm tearing away at the surface and sea's of Azure. Turning, Veiere looked to Lucera now as he mentally sought to prepare them both for the worst of their venture; "The only way to overcome something this aggressive in the Dark-Side, is a manifestation of greater power in the light. I can't protect us both while we're doing this, nor can we spare ourselves if we're to succeed!" he shouted, simply for Lucera to hear the truth of their situation.

Veiere wanted to give them more time before lowering the force barrier around them, the reluctance to open themselves up to the razor-like gusts of wind and the debris being cast around them was tremendous. The Jedi Master hadn't always been so willing to sacrifice for the innocent; once upon a time he had succumbed to the Dark-side of the Force and committed terrible crimes against his own people upon the world of Deneba. In his future exile, he was recalled to the Order by [member="Coren Starchaser"] and yet he had never truly found forgiveness within himself. Others may have been willing to forgive, yet his redemption had never felt whole...-And that was why he was so willing to give his life now, for those that he had wronged. For those that deserved nothing of the pain cast down by lesser men.

Both hands rose up above his head, his eyes looking skyward as he summoned forth as much power in the lightside of the force as he had the capacity to control; a brilliant eruption of pure light exploded fourth from his reach, the barrier around them fading as Veiere cast a powerful and consistent beam of Force Light rising up through the sky, visible from afar and soon to be engulfed by the Force Storm. At first, there seemed to be no effect overhead, the winds slammed against him, the loose fabric not held down by his armor began to fray against the violent and powerful wind encircling the pair. Still Veiere continued to pour every fibre of his being into the act, his physical energy gradually draining as he fell back upon his very lifeline in order to fuel what he couldn't summon from the environment around them.

As he coordinated with Vantai, he regained his bearing as he steeled himself for another assault. No matter what feats he had witnessed, Jedi were still mortals at the end of the day. Maybe it took a lot more care and a case of slugs to take one out, but they could be bested even by a grunt.

“It's time to sever the head. I'll lead the way.”

He powered up his repulsor pack to take to the air, but a loud rumble made him stop. The Jedi still seemed to intercepting the worst of the Force Storm overhead, but he wasn't going to rely on their power to save his bacon, especially as he planned on executing each and every single one on Azure.

He reconnected with the Apollyon to take care of the problem above.

“Brimstone to Apollyon, requesting fire mission. We need a relief against the lightning.”

“Apollyon to Brimestone, wilco. Relief on the way.”

Moments later, he heard the boom of mass drivers, and then saw the white contrails of missiles against the ever darkening sky. Once the designated coordinates were reached, the special warheads burst mid-air, releasing clouds of anti-beam aerosols and energy absorbing particulates.

When lightning crashed against these clouds, they were initially blocked by the aerosols, and then their power drained by the particulates. These particulates, in turn, exploded grat energetic releases, creating protective barriers of light to intercept more lightning bolts.

Nuriel warheads continued to be fired in steady salvos by the troopship, successfully interdicting much of the harmful effects of the Force Storm.

For the moment, the Sith threat was contained. Now came the Jedi.

“Time to move!” he ordered his whole squad across the island. “We'll follow behind the air battle droids. Elf, move up with your fireteam and cover us.”

Finally, he took to the air with his half of the squad, slinging his rifle on his back in favor for his shatter gun and spare bayonet.

Like marionettes, a third of the remaining functioning air battle droids suddenly flitted away from their current attacks as Cardinam seized direct control of them. They quickly formed up around Cardinam and the other commandos in twisting columns, creating a deadly whirlwind of blaster fire and vibro-blades. They now acted as a spear for Cardinam, aimed right for the largest concentration of SJO forces where the Jedi Commanders were positioned.

In the air focused on the coordinates that Fiore had provided earlier, Cardinam could easily pick them out by their Force Signatures alone, two of them (Coren, Josh) radiating like a pair of Life Day trees. They were definitely up to something, which made it even more critical that they were eliminated immediately.

He dove for one of the Jedi Commanders (Coren), while the air battle droids under his command soaked up incoming fire. Several incoming droids were shot down, but then they just became flaming fireballs to smash into slow Jedi and Rangers below.

Coming down, he kept his sights on the Jedi, the trigger of his shatter pistol making a steady clicking noise as the gun rained down depleted baradium pellets rocketing at hypersonic velocities.

Cardinam would love to take out the Jedi with his aggressive opening and call it a day, but he knew it to be that easy, even with something like a shatter gun of a bunch of kamikaze droids. From experience, the Republic veteran knew Jedi were tenacious, and more than a little lucky.

He expected his bayonet would be seeing use quite shortly.

With guns still rattling, the Apollyon settled above the south of the island, intentionally setting itself away from the epicenter of the storm now howling above.

From it stationary position, the troopship launched the next wave of reinforcements for an amphibious assault: squads IG Lancer droids (equipped with power lances and blast shields) on combat speeders, closely trailed by sections of Bengal MBTs.

The distance between the Apollyon and island was closed in seconds, huge sprays of water kicked up by the riders' nimble repulsor craft during their initial rush. Guided by metadata of the air battle droids already on the scene, they quickly zeroed in on the positions of SJO forces.

Like ancient knights of old, the lancer droids gathered up into tight formations, charging into enemy infantry with laser cannons blazing. Meanwhile, the tanks held the rear, providing air defense with fast tracking autocannons and missiles.

Together, IG mercenaries and Sith soldiers now had the SJO forces surrounded, from sea, air, and land. Even whilst top heavy with Jedi, the overall firepower of allied forces was much greater, and their positions superior. No amount of miracles would save them now.

The rout had commenced.
