When it was first formed, the leadership for the Empire of the Lost composed of a Moff Council that was led by a Grand Moff. While the faction grew, there was still infighting by the Moffs over which direction the Empire should take. Some favored a more compassionate Empire at least publically while others long for the days of the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine. Things reached a fever's pitch when Grand Moff: Setemarra Tatthel stepped down after her term ended that the Moff Council decided who will be the next leader. After weeks of internal debate, they have decided to put an Emperor in place to serve as a figurehead for the growing Empire of the Lost while they maintain their powers and privilege.

After going through many candidates, the Moff Council chose the person who will serve as the official face of the quickly rising Empire of the Lost. While they eagerly await the Emperor's arrival, little do they know that the Emperor has plans of their own........

Maldor Mecetti stepped into the room.

This was the proverbial 'room where it happens.' Where the decisions which shaped the Empire were made. Where the shapers of that vision met to collaborate on what that shape should be.

He had never been in here before.

But he had imagined it.

This was a chamber much more august than the Senate Chambers of the Galactic Alliance. The GA had trouble deciding even the most inconsequential matter. They debated for hours, insulted each other, and concluded by deciding nothing.

Based on the conduct of the Empire since he'd arrived, this room must be filled with exceptional and decisive leaders who were able to quickly come to a consensus on any issue.

Maldor's trials and tribulations were finally turning to boons and benefits. He was sure of it.

And so he swept into the room, glancing left and right at the august figures gathered here, doing his best to seem like he belonged in their company.

He dipped his head briefly as he made eye-contact with the luminaries of the Empire.

You are nobility, he told himself, you are their equal. Stand proud.

It helped to steady his nerves.

Then he saw some familiar faces. People who were more on his level.

Was there to be a promotion ceremony?

Once again, the Empire had an Emperor again. To Sergan, this was a step in reinforcing Imperial authority once more, a unified structure with a defined leader was preferable to the squabbling of officers and politicians that had once dominated, before the Empire was driven into exile within the Outer Rim. While the Emperor remained rather mysterious, the apparatus of state had turned its gaze to the future. Anything was possible now that the Mon Calamari shipyards were under Imperial control, the birth of a new Starfleet was at hand and it would be fed by the conquest of countless worlds that remained on the fringe of civilized space.
Already, differing views on what was to be done with these newfound assets were being discussed, though of course no decision would be made without the Emperor's consent. Still, it was worthwhile hearing what other minds had planned for the Empire's future, grand or otherwise. The three mainline factions had their supporters and all of them courted favor, seeking to sway the Emperor with sheer numbers rather than genuinely discussing the merits of their views. Besides, all they offered was a vague outline for the future of the Empire and not a concrete strategy for the coming months. The reports of the Sith invading Trade League space were filtering in, signaling a drive on the core that would inevitably turn the mid-rim into the frontline of another galactic war. In this chaos, Sergan saw a boon to the Empire, shifting the gaze of the major powers to the war and not to the growing power in the Outer Rim.

He moved down the long hallway leading to the meeting chamber, various officers and adjutants moved about and entered into conversations, though many of them would not be welcome into the meeting chamber. Sergan was flanked by two navy troopers who had accompanied Sergan from his flagship. Under his mechanical arm was a datapad that contained Sergan's proposals in writing with data to accompany his points. Though only an Admiral, Sergan sought support from the High Command to drive his proposals forward, though of course he knew that there would be a fight to see his plans come to fruition. The doors to the meeting chamber slid open and Sergan entered, already several Moff's and various military officers were already seated and it seemed that Maldor Mecetti Maldor Mecetti had arrived just before him.

"Lord Mecetti, a pleasure to see you again."

Sergan offered a polite nod and a warm smile, the two troopers that had come with him had broken off and waited outside the chamber.

"It seems the future of the Empire is to be decided today. I hope we do not find ourselves opposed in our plans."

"We Sith are an unseen opposition. A phantom menace. Where the Sith once wore armor, we now wear cloaks. But the Force works through us all the more powerfully in our invisibility. For the present, the more covert we remain, the more influence we can have. Our revenge will be achieved not through subjugation but by contagion."
-- Darth Tenebrous.

Alicia Drey, operative in the New Security Imperial Bureau, stood in the wings of the chamber as the Moff Council gathered to deliberate and decide on the future of the Empire. Rumours had circulated around the NISB that a new Emperor had been selected by the Council to serve as a figurehead of the Empire, and that this individual was the deciding factor in the recent invasion of Lothal. As she stood in the lanes that surrounded the chamber, cast in shadow from the strobing lights which donned the clear and distinct Imperial architecture of the room, Alicia watched as Maldor Mecetti Maldor Mecetti arrived first.

Her eyes watched the man as he begun his move for promotion. Alicia knew what Maldor wanted. Some weeks ago, during a conference above Garqi, on board a Trade Federation station, Alicia had been in attendance and made contact with Maldor's father: Casteban Mecetti. Arrangements had been made between the two which included a more discreet and better avenue of communication for him and his son, with Alicia acting as an intermediary. The original arrangement between the Empire and Mecetti Nationalized Industries had been changed to tighten up the relationship from the scrutiny of the Galactic Alliance, and their Jedi protectors. They were even set to open a Cortosis mine on Obredaan, which Alicia had acquired during a negotiation on Theed many years ago.

Crucially, Alicia knew of the mans secrets. She knew of his aspirations for promotion, his continued links to Obulette, and his desire to collect Sith paraphernalia. Casteban had been honest with her during this conversation... perhaps a little too honest. A woman like Alicia could easily spin and churn the information that she had to kill this mans career tonight. But there were other, more cunning ideas than the destruction she could bring to bear on House Mecetti.

The dark side worked in mysterious ways.

As Sergan Vanori Sergan Vanori entered the chamber and greeted Maldor, Alicia held in her palm reports that she had prepared for the Moff Council to read. If she was going to play the part of an operative then Alicia planned to play it well. There was information that she had that would be of importance to the assembled leaders of the Empire of the Lost and Alicia planned to use what she knew to her advantage.

By nights end both she and the Mecetti would have what they all wanted: influence and power in the Empire.

Moff uniform; pressed and cleaned. Hat; cleaned, uniform standard. Gloves; as sleek as oil. Boots; even more richly polished. Ethen was working his rear end off to be accepted by the leadership of the Empire, but he didn't expect this. He thought he would address the leadership directly, requesting his Moff position realized officially. But instead, it seemed he was accepted without conflict. He was invited to the very room where the fate of the Empire and its path were decided. An achievement his lineage only dreamed of, the Lecerson who started it all only being an understudy of any Moff that participated in the Council of Moffs. His Father would be proud.

The doors slid open as he looked into the room, seeing some familiar faces, and others he had never seen before. They would be under scrutiny. He nodded to his two TK Stormtrooper escorts to stay outside as he stepped inside. He walked around the table to find a spot, taking his gloved hand and giving Maldor's shoulder a jolt. Then he patted the mans shoulder, as a sign of respect, and possibly a thank you. No doubt somebody here had to put in a good word for Ethen, he wouldn't be surprised if it was Maldor himself. He pulled his hand back, adjusting and tightening his gloves before taking a seat next to Maldor.

Ethen sighed, seemingly tense. He wasn't filled with anxiety, but he was unable to join the debate that decided on bringing in an Emperor. He shivered at the thought. It his mind, it was two steps back. Cloak and daggers, fallible monarchies, questionable inheritance. This was not the path to stability and order. It was the path to Ideology... it was the path to the Sith. But he released his tension, looking over to Maldor and nodded, before giving his attention to the others, nodding to them out of respect. Otherwise, he stayed silent unless spoken to.

After all this time, the Emperor finally would show their face to the public. Finally, all in the galaxy would know who was leading the Empire into the future. Finally, the endless games of petty politics that was the Moff Council would be put into check by a strong hand of executive leadership. How could we call ourselves an Empire without an Emperor. We have graduated beyond the ability to function like a headless fowl running about. The Moff Council proved useful enough to not be done away with, beyond just my own self interest. It was how things were executed in the Eternal Empire years ago, where I sat as a Baroness. It was time the Empire finally came into its own and stopped behaving like a remnant faction struggling to survive. It was time to show the galaxy that this Empire was as capable as all others before it.

These halls were now completely normal for me. So many times I had walked through them for Moff Council sessions. I knew most of these corridors by memory at this point. I walked through the halls with brisk, militarist pace and stride. My legs pushed forward with great speed, yet my upper body remained near motionless with no bouncing of the shoulders and no craning in posture. I was no noble. I was a soldier. I was not born into this life, but rather given applicable skills that intense military discipline forged in me. I was in my more conventional Imperial uniform. A white ensemble where I was adorned with Imperial, Eternal, and Iron Legion regalia through the medals and pins on my uniform. Unlike nobles who were born to have these medals, all of these on my chest and shoulders were earned through a long career. My robotic arm was covered with my sleeve accompanied with black gloves. The most present aspect of my augmentations was the respirator covering half of my face, and the stoic gaze that characterized what could have been seen.

The air was filled with extraordinarily thick tension. There was no surprise in that, however. This occasion was hardly anticipated by those outside of the Council chamber. The talks of who would take the title as Emperor was a matter of exhausting debate in the Council for days on end at this point. Such sessions are exactly why I was in favor of having someone in the position of Emperor in the first place. Otherwise, our rising power will be snuffed out from within due to layers of bureaucracy and petty ambition. However, such powers required someone right for the job. That was what caused such endless debates. I took my seat in the Council hall while others conversed outside the chamber itself.

There was one rising star that caught my eye in the files of those attending. Maldor of House Macetti was certainly vying for a grander position. After all the campaigning he and I served alongside each other in. Additionally, how much of a presence his fleet has become in the Imperial war effort to tame the Outer Rim once more. I would be remiss if the man did not use this opportunity to increase his influence in the Empire. It would be no surprise to me if he petitioned to join the Council. Nobility wreaked of ambition, and the ones that were strutting about in the hall enacting pleasantries produced a strong aroma of it. It did appear I was the first of the Moffs to arrive, however. Thus, I chose to spend the time looking over files for this session to ensure I was prepared. In due time, activities would actually begin.

Lianna - Moff Council Meeting

Maldor turned to see Sergan, offering him a friendly countenance.

"I hope we do not find ourselves opposed in our plans," he said after exchanging a polite greeting.

So... the man had come here with distinct plans for the direction of the Empire. Hardly surprising. Some were content with perches of power. Some insisted on driving forward their vision. Vanori was clearly the latter.

"I can't imagine finding myself opposed to the plans of a proven strategic and tactical expert such as yourself," Maldor said generously.

He hoped that was true.

Not the expert part. That was evident in his deployments. No, he hoped he'd have no reason to oppose the man's plans. He needed friends, not enemies, at this stage of his career.

Then Lecersen arrived, and Maldor offered him a smile. They had enjoyed a brief meeting after his recent social soiree and introduction to the Liannan elite, and he had decided that he liked the young up-and-comer. Old family. Young blood. It was a potent combination in the right individual. He had said as much to those who'd inquired about the bold self-proclaimed Moff.

Some people waited for promotions.

Some assumed the position and waited for reality to catch up to them. Lecersen was the latter, and it was serving him well.

"I had a feeling I'd see you here," he said to Ethen, and then turned his attention to the imminent arrival of tonight's central figure.

The Emperor would soon appear.

The Empire of the Lost was making noise in the Outer Rim. They were gaining power and momentum to expand their authority. It was a bit of a shock when the sitting Grand Moff did not return for a new term as the Empire’s leader. Teckla Tane was just learning the game of political intrigue so she hadn’t considered the many reasons that would go into a change at the top. The one thing she was quite confident of was that it was not because the head of state’s title was to be changed to Emperor/Empress. The move to that title from Grand Moff should be the goal of every Imperial leader. Perhaps it was Tatthel’s Reformist, gentle on the public stance that led to her being distanced from the decision making. If that was the case Teckla was glad she was gone.

As the new Moff of the Calamiri sector and her homeworld of Pakuuni, Teckla was called to Lianna for the announcement of the new head of state, the new Emperor, and for the first meeting of the new Moff Council that would serve as the Emperor’s advisors and the executors of his will. She was a little unsettled by the situation, but she was in control of her emotions enough that nerves would not show. Even to those who could look deeper than skin deep. She called on the Force to project a sense of strength. Other Force-users would detect the use, but more than likely it would seem to be some sort of defense. Teckla suspected there would be others and all would be cautious.

With her aide-de-camp and duo of bodyguards in tow, Teckla walked forward to the final opening into the Council chambers. She was behind schedule which was more of a troubling thought than being inexperienced in the world of politics. With that being the case, she was quite sure that her entrance was likely to be noticed by those already inside and settled into their surroundings. There was a brief pause for her to straighten the new white Imperial Moff uniform that had replaced Teckla’s dark gray Pakuuni garb that she would have worn to this function just weeks ago. Secure in looking in tip top shape the woman nodded to herself and strode forward. She didn’t have to confirm that her entourage was in step behind her.

Once inside a smile formed on Teckla’s lips. The attendees, who Teckla assumed would be named new Moffs, were nearly all people she had worked with during her rise in Imperial prominence. Though she had not met any of them face-to-face she had looked into each of their files following missions. Mecetti, Lecersen, Vanori, and DuPorcelen were all familiar sights from their personnel files. The three men seemed clumped together. All had Naval backgrounds and had shared several campaigns. It seemed a good grouping and not one that Teckla wished to put herself into just yet. DuPocelen could be an interesting ally going forward. There were others she was not familiar with, but that would come in due time. For now Teckla would stand silent and wait for the big announcement before mingling with her new peers.

As Alicia stood on the wings of the room, out of the sight of the immediate area where the meeting would take place (once everyone had arrived), she quietly observed the individuals entering the room. In her ears Alicia wore a pair of ear plugs that were active and recording. Later, when the meeting had ended, she intended to upload the audio to another device to listen too and study at her own leisure. Tucked beneath her arm pit was a datapad.

This contained reports of a wide array of topics:
  • The revelation that Nimian Totan Nimian Totan had negotiated with Maldor Mecetti Maldor Mecetti for Mecetti Nationalized Industries to begin manufacture and distribution of new assets to the Empire of the Lost. Among the new assets that had been constructed by this arrangement was the Victory-class Star Destroyer "Prosecutor" which was making regular tours through the Stygeon Prime system as part of it's security detail.
  • A new arrangement that was set to take the place of the original one negotiated by Totan that would see Mecetti technology leased to Santhe-Sienar, based on Lianna, for the manufacture of a new series of ships unveiled by Casteban Mecetti Casteban Mecetti during the Trade Federation Conference above Garqi, on board the Meniium. (Arrangements with Santhe-Sienar pending and still in negotiation with Vyllia Santhe Vyllia Santhe with approval from the assembled Moff Council)
  • A detailed report on the layout and technology on board the Meniium gathered after contacting Casteban.
Alicia planned to be very supportive of the Mecetti-Totan conspiracy that she had unveiled. She didn't have to be, of course. Totan had made arrangements, seemingly on his own behalf, to secure a contract with an institution aligned to the Galactic Alliance. It still remained to be seen how the assembled dignitaries of the Empire would react once her report was submitted, but among the summary of the events she had uncovered after Totan's visit to Obulette were glowing support for Totan's 'initiative' and how this arrangement had led to the NISB acquiring new assets within the Alliance for intelligence gathering.

She also planned to be supportive of Maldor Mecetti. Glowing praise and recommendations lined the report disguised as a vetting process conducted by Operative Foxtrot for how Maldor had used his wealth and assets to assist the Empire in it's peacekeeping efforts to bring order to the sectors that made up Imperial space. Alicia, using her own investigations into the Mecetti-Totan relationship, and the subsequent arrangements with Mecetti Nationalized Industries, would paint Maldor as a new hero to the Empire. He had 'passed' the rigorous vetting processes of the NISB that were set to clear him of any suspicions that were clearly there given his past in the Alliance.

As far as the report was concerned Maldor had previously used his place as the Senator of Obulette to benefit the Empire, despite the clear scrutiny and danger such a relationship posed to his political career. That the rumours of his affiliations to the Sith were lies made up by political adversaries in the Senate who sought to bring about the demise of his career- which ultimately forced him to immigrate to the Empire- where he has since used his wealth and assets to help grow it's borders, such as with the recent invasions of Lothal and Ruisto.

The report ended with a recommendation for Maldor to be elevated to the position of Moff so that, with this status and authority, he could continue his great work to restoring order and peace to the Imperium.

As for Nimian Totan Alicia had praised his initiative that had brought the Empire influence on Obulette. The report was not completely charitable. According to her investigation, Alicia had discovered that he had went about his work with the Mecetti by himself, with a clear goal to use the arrangement to gain promotion, and that the original arrangement that he had made with Maldor (during his time as a Senator) had potential to cause a scandal that would affect the Empire's foreign relationship with the Alliance.

But the arrangement had not caused any damage to the Empire. In fact, to the contrary, the original contract drafted by Totan had seen the Empire acquire new assets for it's navy, and this was to be praised. The report ended with a detailed explanation of how Foxtrot had obfuscated the arrangement and subsequent contract from potential scrutiny from the Alliance and Jedi. That the new arrangement put in place with Casteban Mecetti would see the designs and schematics for new ships to enter the Empire's navy pending a negotiation on-going with Santhe-Sienar and subject to approval from the Moff Council.

The Bureau would continue oversight of the arrangement with the Mecetti, with Foxtrot acting as intermediary between them. Among Alicia's recommendations to the Moffs were to continue the arrangement as explained in the report, given the benefits that were already being provided to the Empire, and that in the next quarter, the arrangement would begin supplying Cortosis ore for refinement and manufacture, with Mecetti Nationalized Industries agreeing to open up a Cortosis mine on Obredaan.

It was also advantageous for them to continue the arrangement due to the influence that the Empire now had on Obulette. There were new clear avenues of opportunity for intelligence gathering within Alliance space with Obulette acting as the NISB's first steps given the connections with House Mecetti.

In summary the Empire were set to receive a new class of ships for it's navy; Cortosis equipment in the next quarter, once the mine on Obredaan was operational, at a cost to Mecetti Nationalized Industries; new opportunities for intelligence gathering on the Alliance by Operative Foxtrot given the arrangements already put in place by her work with the Mecetti; that the rumours of Maldor Mecetti being affiliated to the Sith were false after a rigorous investigation into those claims; and glowing praise for both Maldor Mecetti and Nimian Totan for the part they played in the setting up the arrangement in the first place.

But Alicia had one more revelation up her sleeve that she had elected not to type up in a report.

Something that would make all of this small in comparison.

As soon as the last of the Moffs arrived, the lights around the Moff Chamber immediately shut off leaving the room pitch black. There was a pregnant pause for about a minute before loud music blared throughout the room.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" A voice shouted as a secret door located behind the Moff Council table opened, a blinding light shone in front of the Moffs. "YOUR EMPEROR HAS ARRIVED!"

giphy.gif

A gaunt man emerged from the light, his bald head reflecting the bright light behind him. His brown eyes observed the group of potential Moffs before him and his thick moustache which covered his upper lip twitching. Velran continued to look at the Moffs his mouth curling into a wicked smile. Who would have thought that Velran Kilran would be the next Emperor to push the fledging Empire forward? He did of course, he was the best man for the job, and he knew it. But apparently, there were many on the Moff council who saw Velran as some sort of meat puppet who they could control for their own means.

And to that, Velran would say: It's time to take out the trash.

With a snap of his fingers, the lights for the Moff Council chambers turned on and the door behind Velran closed shut. Continuing to smile, Velran slowly approached the Moffs and the high-ranking officials has he walked in front of the table.

"So," Velran said with a ghoulish giggle. "You all think you're in charge here?"

As the newly revealed Emperor Kilran entered the room, he was followed by a mysterious lethan twi'lek woman, garbed in black jedi robes with her lightsaber dangling from her belt. She remained silent as Kilran spoke, her gaze moving over the moffs and other high ranking leaders gathered in the room, as if silently judging each and every one of them.

Those who'd had prior encounters with the Silver Jedi Order might have recognized the mysterious twi'lek, as she bore a striking resemblance to a former Silver Jedi Knight who'd mysteriously gone off the radar shortly after the Order's collapse as a galactic power. Curious indeed.

The files I went over in preparation for this assembly proved a good means to kill time. I largely ignored many of the activities around me. It would be unseemly if I was to interact with two men vying for the position of Moffs. However, the one man identified as Sergan Vanori in reports proved to be a good asset to have present in the Empire's ranks, and both of those aforementioned men had good track records in service to the Empire. Vanori, however, was new for such records coming to my attention.

My review on files to consult for the session about to start worked well enough to kill time. That was when the newly appointed Moff Teckla Tane. I remembered Teckla fondly from the Battle for New Alderaan not so long ago. Our forces operated in a joint effort. I would be lying if there was not a slight affinity gained for the, at the time General, Moff in that shared battlefield experience. I gave a gesture for the new Moff to join my vicinity through a small nod to my side while looking at her. The blank expression on my face did not show any emotion aside from possible intrigue.

Before much of a reply from the other Moff could have been made, the announcement of the Emperor came through. The door opened, and Velran Kilran stepped out. I was one of those who voted for his appointment to the throne of Emperor. I knew his irrationality would be something to account for, however his contributions to the Empire could not be ignored. That coupled well with me not willing to step up to the challenge despite contributing almost as much myself. However, I was more interested in serving the Empire and furthering my own interests. Said interests were best accomplished if I sat behind the one with the most visible power. As the Emperor and his hand entered the main room, I quietly and rigidly stood and gave a solute with a fist over my heart in the Eternal tradition still residing inside me.

Moff Council Chambers

Lianna Spaceport, days prior...

A non-descript shuttle landed without any fanfare. Just another ship amidst the thriving hustle & bustle swirling through out the city. As its ramp lowered, a tall, bald man descended. Dressed impeccably in a custom tailored suit that clung to his broad shoulders. The narrowed eyes that were never still, constantly moving, taking a threat assessment gave him away as not your average businessman. As did the grace and readiness to spring in his every step. Once he had done a thorough scan and determined the immediate area safe, did he turn back to the ship.

On silent cue, a tall and lean Lethan Twi'lek with black tattooing on all visible skin strode down the ramp. She was as well dressed as her companion, showing off well muscled legs thanks to a short business casual dress with a reasonably modest slit mid-thigh on the right. She carried no weapons or baggage, traveling light apparently. Once she stepped off the ramp, she looked over her shoulder and gave a slow nod. The ramp rose, shutting quietly amidst plumes of steam. The shuttle then took flight after the duo made their way towards the nearest cantina and returned to her flagship in orbit.

As the pair walked, the gentleman shifted his position so as to be on her left side and maintained a precise half-step behind her position. He moved with the ease and confidence of an absolute apex predator. You can take the warrior and dress him up, sure. Good thing clothes don't make this man.

The Twi'lek moved through the throngs with a commanding aura. Before she'd departed her flagship, she'd suppressed her Force presence completely. It simply wouldn't do to have the full magnitude of her command of the Force, and the Dark Side in particular, be the first impression people received of her. Not this time, at least. Time and place for everything.

Rounding a corner and they found their destination. Maestus had learned as a young child on Ryloth that spacers loved to talk, especially when booze and a pretty smile were involved. And she wanted information on the new ventures she was here to begin. The names and dirt of the other players. This was not a simple gambling table she was sitting down at. No, this game was infinitely more subtle. More intriguing. Things at stake would make the normal gambler think twice and then fold. Maestus doubled down. Not only was she calling the bet, she would be raising the stakes for all involved.

Meeting Chambers, present time...

For tonight's festivities, she strode through the halls alone. Her companion elsewhere for the evening. She needed no bodyguards or entourage. She was no longer needing anyone else to protect het, or fight her battles for her. Not on the battlefield and most certainly not in the board room.

Speaking of board rooms, she stepped up to the doors separating her from the other moffs and the newly revealed emperor. Thankful she missed the light show announcing him. Surely would have triggered a thundering migraine. When the doors split and opened, she did not immediately enter. Stepping into new territory foolishly was, well, foolish. She was acquainted with only one person within, so she took her time to study each and every face and person within.

For this occasion, she wore a strapless dress of the finest shimmersilk. Colored in monochromatic shades of grey, with an asymmetrical hemline that began just below her right hip and terminating just above the left knee. A decadent, plunging neckline revealed her tattoos covered most of her body. Again, no accessories were worn. She did carry a small satchel slung casually over a shoulder. Her eyes, obsidian circles ringed with red flickerings which were subdued for the moment, finally landed on the freshly revealed emperor, Velran Kilran Velran Kilran . A slow smirk curled on her lips and she chuckled as she finally decided to step within.

Well I'll be damned. I should have known the theme song was heralding you.

She moved into the room at a leisurely pace. She gave nods to the assembled moffs before lowering herself into an empty seat at the table. Lyrani Kell Lyrani Kell received a slightly more curious glance, then she returned her gaze to Velran and exhaled deeply.

Apologies for my tardiness. Traffic was a queen.

The emperor's arrival burst all bubbles of conversation and casual pleasantry. This was the main event, and it stole every eye and ear.

Maldor wondered if he should pretend to be surprised.

He had supported the somewhat maniacal Kilran in action not long ago. When he'd learned that Kilran had a clone army at his disposal, it was clear to Maldor who the preeminent power in the Empire was. Or at least, the power which had to be placated and managed.

The ability to grow legions of soldiers at will was no small matter, and it was an essential capability for the future. The Empire was small, yet... but with large ambitions. There was too much territory to take and control, and not enough men in the army to do it. Not enough real men, anyway. The Moff Council must know this. Voting Kilran into the Emperor's chair was the only move to make if they maintained expansionist ambitions.

They probably thought they could manage the man.

But so often, the hands that crowned a king were the first ones a king chose to cut off.

Maldor was retroactively glad he had not been made Moff before the Emperor's ascension. He could thus not be counted among the number that elevated him with an eye towards control. Hence, when those chains of control were severed, Maldor was unlikely to be severed along with them.

Rather, there would be vacancies to fill. Hopefully, to be filled by men like him.

He stood, turned to face Kilran, and bowed deeply.

"Long Live the Emperor."

"The Sith are not placid stars but singularities. Rather than burn with muted purpose, we warp space and time to twist the galaxy to our own design."
-- Darth Plagueis.

Alicia continued to pace slowly around the wings of the room as they waited for more arrivals. All of a sudden the room had gone dark, and then there was light as the Emperor of the Lost revealed themselves to the gathered Moff Council. In tow were two Twi'lek, and to Alicia's surprise she recognised one of them in the form of Maestus. Alicia did not know the Sith personally- they hadn't interacted- and yet it was unmistakably her.

So Solipsis hand reaches out from the nether, Alicia thought to herself quietly. Does she recognise me?

As the gathered dignitaries of the Empire took their positions Alicia quietly watched Maestus as she strolled in behind the new Emperor. Did she have the means to expose Alicia Drey as Darth Ayra? Or, upon the event that she recognised Alicia, would she go through with it? The New Sith Order had the task of infiltrating and expanding the influence of the Dark Empire to every corner of the Galaxy. Alicia had not joined the Empire of the Lost with that direction in mind- she was among them for her own ulterior motives in building up the Grand Scheme- but to the NSO she appeared to be following the direction given by the Sith'ari in the same vein that her acts of espionage fell in line with her status in the New Imperial Security Bureau.

Layers of compartmentalization, and a clandestine approach to the Work, were all undertaken in an attempt to obfuscate the truth so that her methods of espionage were admissible, plausible and explainable. To Maestus- if she recognised who Alicia Drey really was- it should appear that a follower of Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis had made it into the heart of the Empire of the Lost. But then Ayra knew the ways of the dark side. It's followers were treacherous, deceitful, cunning- there were an array of reasons for Maestus to expose her to the Moff Council, and to it's new Emperor- if she wanted too, and fatefully, those reasons didn't need to align with Alicia's own.

To follow the ways of the dark side one always risked catastrophe to themselves, and others. It was always a fine line, and here on Lianna she was currently walking the gambit alongside a potential ally, or enemy. This was the risk that Maestus now posed to Alicia as she paced the wings of the room. But Alicia was cunning herself. If Maestus was here to expose her then she would seize the initiative first. The Force had it's will but to the Sith it's mysteries were only there to be bent to their indomitable powers in the dark side.

It was time to take control of this event.

"Long live the Emperor," Alicia said next after Maldor had spoken. As she walked past the Mecetti Alicia gave him a knowing wink. They hadn't met before today, and yet, Alicia knew that the son of Casteban Mecetti Casteban Mecetti knew who she was and she wanted him to know that. Entering the centre of the gathered Moffs, Alicia turned to Velran Kilran Velran Kilran and although she was looking directly at the Emperor what Alicia had to say next was for everyone in the room.

"I have prepared three reports that will be interest to our new Emperor and the dignitaries who have gathered here today. You can find your respective datapads at your allocated seats." Of course, she had not prepared them for neither Maestus or Lyrani. They had not been expected.

Alicia turned and gestured to Maldor with her hand. "Lord Mecetti has been extensively investigated by the Bureau since his immigration to the Empire and we have found him to be an extraordinary patriot to Imperialism. I am personally aware of Lord Mecetti's desire to join this council and with the Nuiri Sector in dire need of leadership I could not think of anyone better for the job. My findings and recommendations can be read at length at your leisure."

Alicia turned away from Maldor to look back upon the Emperor and his two Twi'lek cohorts. These next few minutes were set to determine future events. Catastrophe loomed as Alicia made her gambit but with it so too did the promise of the influence and power she had came to claim today. Alicia smiled knowingly at Maestus as continued constructing her proposal.

"My investigation into Lord Mecetti and his links to Obulette were not my own forms of inquiry. What I have to say next has been certified by top officials in the Bureau as legitimate, and my subsequent investigation into these following matters have been ratified by Director Kaybees. A new power has formed in the Carlac system and it's threat to our rivals in the Core will be clear to see."

Alicia stepped aside as she activated the hologram. A cylinder came up from the ground and on top of it Alicia placed the recording of Ignacious Korvan Ignacious Korvan 's speech during the Convention at Carlac. The Imperial Despot emerged atop a gathering of hundreds of thousands of troops and in the backdrop Star Destroyers lined the skies. He begun to speak:

"We have endured much over the past two decades." Korvan's voice rang through the valley that surrounded the citadel. It sounded so loud and warped by an unseen, intangible means. "For you sons and daughters of the Empire we watched as the dream which gave birth to the New Order died in front of us - brought to nothing by corruption from within - a cancer which infected our nation so that the Galactic Alliance; in all her opulence and stagnation, alongside the vultures of the Galaxy - could best us in our weakened state."

Korvan paused again as he surveyed the throngs of troops that were set to form the military forces of the Dark Empire. The air of importance and tension was palpable even to the gathered leadership of the Empire of the Lost in spite of the fact that only two people in the room had been there on that day. The Despot continued his speech:

"Order fell that day, and gave way to the chaos that has reigned supreme throughout the Galaxy." Korvan's voice resonated with the indignation of his words, and it was clear that he felt every syllable ushered as he vented two-decades to the gathered might of the new Dark Empire. "Whether Imperial, or Brothers of the Maw - all of us lost the fathers of our nation when Irveric Tavlar and Rurik Fel were slain; and you Children of Darkness when Darth Solipsis met his end on Tython."

Another pause, and to those who were paying attention it seemed as if Korvan picked his next words carefully. "My words today will not heal the rift that exists between us, wrought from years of conflict. We stood as enemies for too long, and fought too brutally against each other."

Korvan's voice turned sombre as he paid his respects to the past, and the losses suffered by the two former enemies now being joint together under his leadership.

"But what can bridge that rift is a new purpose that can unite all of us. FOR TOO LONG our enemies have spread their brand of civilization throughout the Galaxy. FOR TOO LONG the Galaxy descended further into the squalor of decay and indulgence. The New Imperial Order rose up against our oppressors, and sought to bring TRUE Order to the galaxy in the face of the FALSE SITH of the Sith Empire; and the Brotherhood sought to tear down the galaxy and bring forth a rebirth in its own image. Today, we have before us the opportunity to rid ourselves of the wounds of the past and see our purposes come together as one new purpose - one Great Plan that only one man can see fulfilled."

As Korvan stepped aside on the recording a new figure emerged. It was Darth Solipsis: the Sith'ari, Galactic Emperor, and reigning Dark Lord of the Sith. Solipsis took his time to ascend the platform Korvan had been standing on. The hologram flickered as it continued to play the Convention speeches.

"Victory has defeated you," Solipsis started with. "The galaxy writhes in chaos and disorder, it's people shackled by the chains of falsified freedom and Jedi dogma."

"What did the Galaxy's victory over Tython achieve? When did the legion vast of iron will, or the unmoving horde of death incarnate... fold? When did the WEAK break either of you?"

Solipsis raised his fist in the air. His words eerie as the projector continued to play the speech. "You are chaos and order: two sides of the same coin; and what greater feat of strength is there than to submit chaos to order? To subdue raw passion and unleash it in concentrated, unbridled power at your whim?"

"We are the architects of a new order,"
Darth Solipsis proclaimed. "A new force of change forged in the crucible of war, tempered by the fires of our DREAM!"

"A NEW EMPIRE!"

Solipsis made his declaration, and with those words marked the christening of his Dark Empire. "We shall cast aside the shackles of restraint and unleash our wrath upon those who would oppose us. The Galactic Alliance- the so-called champions of light and freedom- shall face the full might of an Empire Reborn!"

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, their fervent cheers echoing across the icy wasteland like a tempest unleashed.

"The DREAM yet lives among all of you! And so I say unto you," the Dark Lord concluded, his voice echoing with the weight of inevitability, "...Embrace your passion, unleash your anger! Together, we shall forge a legacy that shall echo throughout the ages, a legacy of power, of conquest, of a GALAXY REBORN!"

As Solipsis ended his address to his forces Ignacious Korvan stood watching in the background, stoic and yet pleased. The applause turned to a chant as the Dark Empire chanted the name of their leader:

SOLIPSIS! SOLIPSIS! SOLIPSIS!

As the chanting threatened to reach a fervour pitch Alicia snatched the recording out of the cylinder and the holographic projection of the Convention ceased. Holding the miniature grey ball in the hand (which contained the recording) Alicia lowered her arm and addressed the room.

"In order to secure the continued security and prosperity of this Empire I propose to this Council that you must make a change within the New Imperial Security Bureau."

Alicia turned her gaze to the Emperor and spoke directly to Kilran: "My first proposal to our new Emperor is this: replace Director Kaybees with me. Under my tenure as Director I will continue to deliver the intelligence that has been delivered to this chamber today. With my strategies and expertise you, Emperor Kilran, will know well in advance the machinations of the Galaxy well in advance before it becomes a threat to your Empire, and as will the rest of your Moffs."

"Only through me will the Empire of the Lost have the information, and intelligence to make informed decisions, and to take precautions against existential threats. As a mere Field Agent I have done this and more can be achieved together if I am given the reigns. With your authority, and oversight, work together with me so that the Bureau's potential can fully be realised and unleashed across the Galaxy. Only in the office of Director can this be achieved."

"Out with the old,"
Alicia concluded in reference to the current Director Kaybees, "...and in with the new."

…You were lost…
His words. His proof.
Echoes in time. Gone.
…But I have found you…

Sometimes she liked to recite his words at night, when heading to bed or when meditating. They were a reminder of what he did for her, to her, of how he found her. Made her. Raised her. Gave her everything and demanded back hardly anything. Only her loyalty. Only her love. He was hers. She was his. For he was Father. And I am your daughter…

She wondered as she wandered, but not like some lost dog or distant kitten. She had purpose because of him. She had future. She had life. She had a mission. Service. Day and night. From a tank, from a lab, Subject Zero had been born and brought into existence, given freedom on one condition. Serve him. Swing her fists at his opponents. Serve. Serve success to him on a dish like the most succulent fish at every opportunity she could.

Oh, he let her play and she would. She would grin in those moments like a little kid. She might laugh like an idiot, dance and game and gamble. Climb the ferris wheel, spin the pinwheel, but she always had her shuriken on her; four-pointed and as razor sharp as a great shark. This moment was no different. For the daughter was the father’s very own weapon. As much as his future.

The Viper, they call her, and she had a bite like a snake. Like that shuriken sheathed at her back, hidden behind the cape of a black cloak, she sported black red leather and other fabric from toes to fingers, with a hood pulled over her head, veiling her countenance. Even her eyes were hidden at that moment.

Yet her presence was not. It would be felt. It would be known. It was shown in her gait, the way she entered, tall despite her height, confident in stride, and a number may already know her name. She was the clone of Akiya Orime. She was Kanni Ugaiya.

And, despite a small smile bidden on the woman’s face, lips unhidden, today she had not come to play any silly game. This was not the occasion for it. It was the place for the assassin, the general, and the adopted daughter of Velran Kilran.

The Emperor’s Hand on one side, the Viper on the other; black and red painted in a great image amalgamated with the same scheme as both women’s esteemed master. There Kanni stood, right by his side, silent as night with blood on the horizon.

Sycophants… She thought as she watched the naked faces gathered in the chamber. Opponents… Arrogant, ambitious, elitist; strengths as much as weaknesses. Kanni would gladly remind any of them why it was Velran Kilran who had been chosen ahead of them. If the occasion called for it, that is.

At the moment, Kanni simply kept quiet and listened. Truthfully, she didn’t really know any of these men and women, and they didn’t know her. Worst came to worst, they could get to know her shuriken. Heh.
Then again, the Empire needed unison and the Emperor needed unity. Kanni might be a bit challenged in personality but she would not deny her lord father his daughter’s loyalty. The Empire was lost, and he found it. She was lost…but he found her…

Maldor felt a dark cloud come over him as the NISB officer winked, and began to speak about him.

She had enough information in her hands to do catastrophic injury to his interests. Perhaps even enough to get him killed right here in this room. It pained Maldor to have his fate in someone else's hands this way. It was worse than the random impulses of a psychotic tyrant. It was like a clever cat, playing with you until they chose the moment you were no longer amusing.

But power existed within networks. And at least a rational blackmailer could be counted on to act within their own interests.

Gradually, it became clear she was clearing him, and he let go of a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

Perhaps she really was recruitable. Perhaps Maldor himself could make the approach-

But then things shifted again.

She laid out an existential threat. And she posed herself as the only solution to countering that threat.

She was angling to be head of the entire agency!

No... such a person as she would never fall under the thumb of House Mecetti. Not unless she was rebuffed here.

But that's why a blackmailer did what they did. Not always for money. Often, merely to ensure the support of allies.

"It is clear that you have managed to amass impressive intelligence resources even within your currently limited scope at the NISB," Maldor spoke up, "A much more impressive showing than any of your supposed superiors has managed.

Emperor, if it is not out of place to say so, I can personally think of no one better suited to lead our reformed intelligence branch, and place the Empire's hands at our enemy's throats. With such a person leading our intelligence efforts, our enemies will not even be safe within the center of their armadas, nor surrounded by their armies."

Tit for Tat. She endorsed him. He'd endorse her.

But he knew a day was coming when it might be all Tat for her and no Tit for him.

Just her boot at his throat, whenever the mood struck her. He had to balance that somehow.

Once she got the position she craved, she might become more powerful than the Emperor himself.

"Long live..." Ethen paused, taking a breath "the Empire." Ethen spoke as the new Emperor was revealed. The fact there was an Emperor at all didn't align with his ideals, but this new... eccentric Emperor was certainly something else. But he was instantly distracted by the new NISB agent speaking about his friend and partner, Maldor. "I agree, Maldor should be elevated for his position, he is well trusted."

He looked over at Maldor and nodded, before turning back to the Emperor. After the NISB agent was done, Ethen spoke up, "I believe other Moffs can speak to my abilities and contributions, positively or negatively. Since I joined, I have worked tirelessly, day and night, in as many battlefields I can manage. In fact, I personally put myself, physically, in the middle of battle and supported Maldors fleet above with my own ship out of my command. I request an evaluation of my contributions, as I wish to be elevated, officially, to a position recognized by this Empire, so I do not claim a Moff position just from my House. I have many things to contribute ts this Empire; not just my fighting or commanding skills, not just my current assets, but future potential assets with ny ties to Kuat, which Maldor can vouch for." Ethen prayed his contributions would be recognized, and not just treated like a child observer at the table like when he was when his Father was in charge.

The preparations had been completed in the preceding weeks & months for the trip into the newest of the Empires, one in its infancy, one that could grow in any direction & creed. The few people that he had left in Empire of the Lost's territory reported back regularly. Especially the agent who worked their way up to being a secretary in the administration. The hardest part was choosing who was going to come with him to the chambers, that eventually came down to being his one apprentice and a General. That would be sufficient enough for meeting the top rulers of the EOTL and seeing what mutual agreements could be arranged.

Once arriving on the correct floor Darth Rasnuhl walked down the corridor towards the meeting chambers with his apprentice & general walking just behind. As Darth Rasnuhl walked he purposely pulled on both sides of the force to bring balance, a clear mind, and hopefully disinform any other force user that would be able to sense him. Shortly the small group stopped in front of the storm troopers clearly guarding the chamber doors. After a moment of Darth Rasnuhl looking at one sides troopers then the other sides, then finally breaking the silence and speaking to one "Tell the council that Warlord Darth Rasnuhl has arrived." With that he waited.

Empire-Divider-removebg-preview.png

The gathered all came to attention as the loud voice started the announcement. Smoke rose and through a previously unseen door the newly elected Emperor made his first appearance. Teckla had not been a part of the process to instill the new head of state, but when Velran Kilran Velran Kilran was the man who stepped out of the smoke she really couldn’t argue with the choice. He had been a driving force in expansion, and had the means to make a nearly infinite army. Teckla herself had employed Kilran’s scientists for clone soldiers for use in expanding and securing her authority over the Calamari Sector.

There were also questions in Teckla’s mind. Velran had a reputation as being a bit less than stable. She wondered if the Empire would need to take means to reel the man in at moments of questionable sanity. No. Not the Empire. Her and her fellow Moffs, at least that would be the case when the announcement of the new Moffs was made…I presumed that would be the closing statement after the climax of the ascension of the new Emperor. As Emperor Kilran began his time of rule with a laugh and a question of who was in control, Teckla gave a bit of a sigh and prepared herself for plenty of drama.

Following the Emperor’s entrance were two red-skinned Twi’leks. Teckla knew there was a term for that sub-species, but since she felt superior to all Twi’leks making a differentiation between them because of their color seemed useless. The only reason why the two even registered to Teckla as more than a pretty red frame for Kilran’s first statement was the power in the Force that Teckla felt emanating from them.

Lord Maldor, who Teckla assumed would be joining her in the rank of Moff before the end of the night, was the first to give words to the unveiling of their leader. It was the proper sentiment, but Teckla felt it screamed of political posturing. Her intention was to lead with strength and precision. She would not blow smoke up anyone’s backside to get her way, but even the Empire had a place for politicians, especially if they could also sport Mecetti’s battle resumé.

Following Maldor’s reaction to the Emperor a high ranking officer in the ISB gave a long winded report. Teckla was quite glad that it would be available to review later. She would want to glean as much information from the report as possible, but the current setting did not make proper not taking easy. Teckla did understand that there were threats out there. And plans would need to be made. Soon most likely. Maldor suggested that this officer be elevated. Based on the report Teckla had little to argue against such a suggestion, especially if she had done this with limited resources. Though that also made Teckla a bit suspicious. Information is power. But if this agent was straddling a fence and sharing Imperial information with the group she had just shared with them, that would put her in a position of great power in both groups. Ethen Lecersen was next to speak, seconding Maldor’s motion and adding his own and Maldor’s qualifications. It was time to fight for positions at the table. A part of politics that Teckla hated.

It was at this time that Teckla recalled seeing a nod from Moff DuPorcelen. The White Baroness seemed much more Teckla’s type than the others. That wasn’t a slight on the others, she had worked with them flawlessly and would do so again. But for this meeting to have any value to Teckla, she needed to be sure that she would have an ally in the calm, measured response process that the Pakuuni woman intended to bring to the government and military alike.

Making quick strides across the meeting room Teckla came to Katherine’s side with a respectful nod, just short of a bow. After all, until the meeting was finished and all announcements were complete, the Moff was Teckla’s superior. ”Moff DuPorcelen, it is good to see you. A voice of measure and stability is welcome in the room. There is a lot of grandstanding going on.”
