STANDARD FEATURES
  • Organic Propulsion and Maneuvering
  • Weaponry (Described under Armament)
  • Defenses (Described under Defenses)
  • Passenger Slot - While the Passenger does not "fly" the Shriek, this may be useful in situations where emergency evacuation is necessary, or where a Shaman wishes to stay close to their squadron.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Magkast Sprayer - Located in the rear of each Shriek is a holding tank of Magkast. On command, the Shriek may have this condensed and then released into the atmosphere or void behind it, allowing the superhot material to latch onto any pursuer or - in the case of atmosphere - onto whatever is below it. This is a relatively small amount of Magkast making it less effective for bombardment as opposed to allaying pursuers.
  • Photosynthetic Skin - Relying upon the warmth of nearby stars to power its engines and weaponry, the Shriek may go with minimal maintenance for long periods of time.
  • Magnetic Core - A highly magnetized core at the center of the Shriek serves two important purposes: keeping any loosened armor attached to the creature, and allowing it to subtly interfere with the flight of enemy vessels. The core is not extremely strong, but can cause nearby starfighters to "drag" slightly toward the Shriek.
  • Predator Eyes - The Shriek relies almost entirely upon a series of "eyes" located throughout its body to perceive the world around it. Sensor data and electronic signals mean almost nothing to the Shriek - instead it simply observes the world around it for changes in subtle changes or for dramatic shifts in temperature, utilizing a mixture of infrared and "normal" vision.
  • Mind Stone - The presence of an embedded Mind Stone allows for members of the Bryn'adul military to easily command and direct Shrieks from aboard their warships and to receive intriguing data from the creations in turn.
STRENGTHS
  • Ocular Reliance - With a heavy reliance on their ability of sight, the Shriek makes itself heavily resistant against electromagnetic countermeasures and other forms of sensor-scrambling as it simply doesn't rely on these to locate its opponents.
  • Swift Twisting - A high level of maneuverability coupled with a low level of speed allows for the Shriek to easily move through space and end up in a favorable position where they can either chase their own target or assist an allied craft. This also helps them to avoid untracked enemy weaponry.
  • Loaded to the Teeth - Carrying four separate Concussion Missile Launchers, the Shriek is more than capable of laying a significant amount of firepower on enemy starfighters and bombers. While these devices are primarily present to deal with air superiority missions, they could also be unloaded in a devastating salvo against larger vessels. The missiles focus on "radar-tracking" also means that they will not lock onto friendly Shrieks as they do not emit this type of energy.
  • Low Maintenance - Relying on their photosynthetic skin to constantly provide them with additional energy reserves, it is unlikely that a Shriek will ever run low on raw energy throughout a conflict.
  • Magnetic Core - The presence of the magnetized core assists the Shriek in maintaining its armor covering even when it has sustained damage. Furthermore, it allows for the Shriek to "tug" on enemy starfighters in order to throw them ever so slightly off balance. Equipped from birth with these cores, and taught throughout their lifetimes to fly in formations, other Shrieks are almost universally unaffected by this phenomenon.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ocular Reliance - The heavy reliance of the Shriek on eyesight does open it up to the possibility of extremely fast or invisible weaponry or assailants. Since the Shriek does not utilize proper sensors to analyze the area around it, it would have very little in the way of countermeasures to deal with this type of threat.
  • Low Speed - The Shriek is excellent at twisting and contorting around a battlefield, but has a relatively low maximum speed meaning that it can be outpaced by many other starfighters either gradually or very quickly in the case of some especially speedy craft.
  • Organic - A living being, the Shriek can be afflicted by weapons and attacks that would only reasonably affect a living creature such as poisonous material, nanoviruses, or Force abilities. They can also not be fixed as easily as mechanical starcraft, and require either talented Force Healers or else significant biological care.
  • Mind Stone - The Shrieks regularly transmit information between one another while flying in order to guarantee there are no collisions and so that they can assist one another properly. To accomplish this, they utilize their embedded Mind Stones. Anything that could interfere with the Mind Stone transmissions, or infiltrate them could lead to sub-optimal performance or possibly even disastrous maneuvers.
  • Magnetic - Magnetism is not something that can be turned off on the Shrieks. As a result, friendly projectiles of relatively small size that fly near the Shrieks may be unintentionally diverted from their paths, or hostile missiles or other metallic projectiles affected by magnetism may accidentally be drawn closer to the Shriek than they would normally have been.
DESCRIPTION
Following the fleet battle over Circumtore, it became acutely aware to many throughout the Bryn'adul that the Phedrak fighter craft that had been used for several years were exceptionally outdated. Relying exclusively on their numbers had proven to be a costly mistake as the deployment of legions of enemy fighters of more advanced and high-quality build meant the sole advantage of the Phedraks was heavily squandered. As such, development began on a new series of fighters that could help in securing air superiority in coming conflicts.

Manipulating organic material and genetic codes, the Bryn'adul worked to develop an interceptor that would be capable of matching the high velocity turns of enemy fighters and of delivering devastating volleys against them. Unmanned just as the Phedraks had been, and relying on a similar photosynthetic skin to keep their maintenance low, these new interceptors would be vital for lowering the number of available enemy pilots through attrition from conflicts.

Equipped with personal shielding and with Malabast plating, the hybrid organism/machine interceptors were fairly sturdy, but still relied very little on any kind of advanced mechanisms or components. The most advanced portion of the fighters were the in-built magnetic cores which kept their armor attached and the attachment of a number of concussion missile launchers which had been hardwired to track down vessels utilizing high sensor output and radar.

Produced in significant quantities, the Shriek Interceptors still do not match the absurd deployment amount of the Phedraks, but do serve as a far more damaging and capable deterrent against enemy fighters and bombers for coming conflicts.
