OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Kythera
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Origins: The Cairn
  • Average Lifespan: 20 years
  • Estimated Population: Unique
  • Description: The Kythera is a towering, gaunt form propelled forward by six legs, two in the front and four in the back of their bone covered form. The Kythera stands nearly a kilometer in height, visible in the distance as a lumbering, horrifying form. Bones are visible across much of their body, either above or below their skin, including their massive skull which is covered by only a thin layer of skin. Dozens of tentacles emerge from where the creatures mouth should be, each one capable on its own to lift up small tanks or devour individuals. Think, mangled fur covers the upper most part of the Kythera creatures, grey in color like the rest of the creature.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: N/A
  • Average Height of Adults: One Kilometer
  • Average Length of Adults: 457 Meters
  • Skin color: Shades of Grey
  • Hair color: Grey
  • Distinctions: The Kythera are a species with no gender, each specimen being cultivated and grown in labs for their intended purpose in the Bryn'adul war machine. The only deviations found are in the various heights of the creatures, though this is not linked to gender and is instead random chance.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Force Dead
Strengths:
  • Exoskeleton: The Kythera is genetically engineered to have thick, multilayered bone structures. They have an exoskeleton reinforced by Verikast Metal, and an internal skeletal structure supported by the metal as well. This exoskeleton is further reinforced by Quilxyn colonies that are grown naturally inside the Kythera, allowing it both a physical and energy barrier defense.
  • Death Cloud: Making use of the Kythera Vapor, naturally occurring and grown within the Kythera itself, the war beast is able to create a cloud of the poisonous gas around it. This gas is incredibly dense, as it has not fully had time to disperse, making the usual effects of the Vapor much more fast acting. This has the added effect of creating a no go zone around the Kythera, both for allies and enemies, limiting potential counter attack options.
Weaknesses:
  • Lumbering: The sheer size and weight of the Kythera is perhaps its most natural weakness. Roughly a kilometer in height, the thousand upon thousands of tons in skin, bone, muscle and internal organs naturally slow the creature. It is incapable of progressing faster than a slow walk, and it can take several hours for the creature to travel any set distance, giving foes a chance to set up ambushes and defenses in its path.
  • Explosive: The Kythera, due to the internal chemicals within the Kythera, the creature is at all times at risk of detonation. Should weapons fire manage to pierce its armor and hide, and expose its internal organs to oxygen, the chemicals inside the creature could detonate, destroying the creature in its entirety and all allied forces within a three kilometer radius.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore
  • Communication: The Kythera communicate to one another using Mind Stones designed just for the species, implanted directly into their skulls. They are able to pass simple thoughts and emotions to one another, and this connection allows for the creatures to be controlled more effectively by the Bryn'adul.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: The Kythera are naturally aggressive creatures, and very few of their genetically engineered kind survive long beyond infancy. It is common for Kythera to kill one another upon first sight, and these battles are fought by the creatures until only a single individual remains. This survival of the fittest mentality is something ingrained into the creatures by their Bryn'adul masters, meant to ensure that they are able to use the strongest, most powerful specimen for their war efforts.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Kythera is the Bryn'adul answer to the growing military might of the galaxy. With other nations finding ways to destroy entire planets, the Bryn'adul Ish'makra Council decided that a need for a similar class of weapon was required. In the Bryn'adul way, this weapon would not take the form of a technological monstrosity, but a bio-engineered creature of utter devastation. In secret, the Council began to pull resources from across the Bryn'adul Empire for the task. Leading scientists were reassigned, convoys of supplies rerouted, and dozens of fake reports created to prevent any leaking of the project.

The massive space station, The Cairn, was constructed to serve as the primary breeding facility for the Kythera beasts. On the surface, the Cairn acts as nothing more than a supply depot for the Bryn'adul Navy, able to resupply and repair entire fleets of warships at once. What is not known however is that for every two convoys of supplies sent to keep the Cairn stocked, only one is ever redeployed to the fleet. Half of all the resources flowing into the Cairn are diverted to the Kythera project, guarded behind the heaviest security measures in all Bryn'adul space.

The beginning of the project was slow, with many of the first specimens not surviving through adolescence, and the few that did often killing each other. Each failure gave a path for improvement, and after many months of research, a perfected specimen was completed. Now, the Kythera has entered the final stages of its development, and the Ish'makra Council has begun the process of locating a world upon which to show the galaxy the Bryn'adul should not be underestimated.

This is an element of the Bryn'adul Superweapon.
