The Battle for Corellia (New Republic Dominion of Hex U30)

Location: Near Space Port Entrance
Objective: Capture Space Port

The Republic and their allies continued hammering the rubble separating them from their objective with explosive rounds, gradually carving holes large enough to force their way in. Alex was rapidly growing impatient with the slow pace. The Vice Chancellor's desire to have things done and over with was starting to rub off on him.

"Kark it! I'm going in," He muttered. Bending at the knees, Alex leaped towards the piles of rubble and catapulted himself skyward with a Force Leap. In his haste, he failed to take into consideration two important things. #1, his allies had no idea he was headed towards the fray. #2, he was putting himself directly in the line of fire from the explosive charges. Both of those oversights came together at the peak of his leap, as he was suddenly hit with a hard wave of concussive blast force from a charge that exploded beneath him.

His concentration broken, Alex plummeted towards the ground, arms and legs flailing, hitting with an audible thump and tumbling head over heels several feet before coming to rest. Hardly the dramatic and heroic entrance he was intending to make.

"Alex, next time, WARN US before you go charging in like that," a voice crackled in his helmet's comlink.

"Yeah, sure...anything you say," Alex replied with a groan as he staggered to his feet and ignited both of his orange bladed sabers, slowly flexing arms, legs, and torso to be sure nothing was broken. "Now if you'll excuse me for a moment, I've got work to do."

Alex blinked as the world turned upside down and she heard the words bail, staring with wide eyes at the change and her body started to float up as she found herself falling through the air once more. Her hands spread wide and the ground came at an ever increasing speed with her mind trying to figure out what had happened. Yasha was gone again, the creature was missing, and there was nothing but that hint of flame filling her senses. Her eyes continued to look around, getting stock of the situation and then they locked on the being that had caused this in the first place.

A Feral look filled her face as she thought on it, the force circling and being drawn to her body as she controlled her thoughts and emotions, aiming for the man and rather than releasing the force in the manner of a blast of energy, or a burst of lightning, or consuming the creature of his in fire, she would scream out until she was gone from sight, vanishing into thin air.

All Illusions vanished, her skin returning to normal, her eyes clearing and her blindness being abandoned as the force tore through space and she was let out infront of the man and her sabers were in her hands. Silver blades leapt out from her hands and she glared into his face as she fell like a fury, a winged demon, who blade with the light as she shot into him and tackled his body. The force propelled her that last bit and allowed her to ram into the man like a cannonball, meaning to take him to the earth below.

Her hands would aim for any place she could find, anything that looked vulnerable and with that same force enhanced strength she would attempt to stab into the man, or cut at the gills of the creatures on his body, do anything to wound the man as the two would hopefully fall to the ground below. She was in all senses of the word feral, but there was no emotion behind the actions, only a lust for battle. She did not hate him, did not fear him, did not even wish for his death, but he would harm her friends and those she needed to protect and her mind would not allow that. The biology of the body she now resided in aside, this man would not take her friends, or her family from her, and she would not fear what came of her actions.

"You have done enough monster, die!" She would let go of one of her sabers, drawing her hand back and aiming a strike right at his face, still hoping to land any of her blows and do some kind of damage to the man, to put him out of commission and if she was given the chance remove such a demon for good.

She would not use the light, not yet, it was not necessary yet. She would become this man's destruction just as he had destroyed her future within the Sith, just as he had been the beginning of her current path. She didn't have her children now, she didn't have her love, she didn't have a home with them. She had spent two years, wrestling with a dark spirit taking her mind from her, and her body from her as an extension. This man had been one of the ones who had caused her so much pain and now... now she just wished to protect those around her. She was their shield, but also their scalpel, exercising this cancer from the world they stood on.

Something felt wrong though, flames from the creature having claimed her left leg, and only going out after the air had claimed it and put it out. She knew there was damage there and she knew it would only be joined by whatever this demon would do before they touched the ground, if they even did so. She would endure though and take every strike with the force as her own shield, protecting her until he was gone and those she cared for were safe.

"Ive been to hell, and you will join me if I have to return today." She told him, staring at his eyes.

Flying monstrosity of flaming death. Repulsor boots. Vulpesen couldn't help but feel a little light in preparedness as he did his best to keep up. Without their fancy mechanics and creatures, the Valde was left only to what the force could offer him. "Slow down you bastards! I ain't done ye-" He was cut off by another torrent of flame rocketting towards him, and for a moment, he was thankfull that he was still lagging behind a bit. Using the distance to his advantage, Vulpesen took the extra time he had to bring up his hands and call to the force.

It responded readily, and seeing as to how this beast of a man preferred the Vong, he had no idea how the force might interact with the napalm, something which prompted him to a more physical maneuver. His body narrowed as he lined himself up like a dart, letting the force flow from his limbs to redirect the wind around him. Then like a wedge, their air would rush before the man, creating an invisible barrier to slice through the barrage of napalm, parting it so that Vulpesen oculd pass through.

"Damn it!" He could feel his momentum dropping off and left unchecked, he'd certainly descened back to the ground. "I said slow down!" Calling on the force to carry him once more, Vulpesen started to fly again towards [member="Reverance"] while a hand extended outward, and with three flicking movements of his wrist, shot out a trio of explosive darts from his bracer, intent on disabling the wings of his mount.

Bits of fire flung past him as he deflected the plasma with a flick of his hand. The blade from the mando trailed across the chest of his armor, but found little purchase with the swift change in the mounts direction. While Reverance, physically, wasn’t giving much attention to the individual on the other mount - though he had previously attempted a charge at her - it didn’t mean the voxyn hadn’t noticed the void. Or the way the small redhead had also been consumed by the void, only to blip in and out of color in respect to the center point.

It was like Vong technology, but more aura related. Or at least, some sort of field. He had resolved himself to keep his distance unless the fight needed to get handsy - they weren’t there yet.

Rather than veer towards the ground and land, the mount shifted and snarled, spitting fire towards the metal mounted individual and her inflamed mandolorian ally. After the continued strafing request was made by Reverence, through a single ping of vongsense, he stood up on the Nuhlrokka’s back and called the force to him to jump skyward.

Twirling like a corkscrew through the air, he was intent on making a splash. And maybe it was the sort that wouldn’t allow for anymore coming up for air. As he moved upward, his left hand, still encumbered by the blade, moved towards his center. A mass of power out-poured from his core, blood draining from the wound, as an orb formed in his hand. It was an orb of force destruction, but teetered far above the typical incantation. His intent was utter destruction, Jedi or Sith or whatever stood in between. Even the Nuhlrokka now stood at risk as the mania - the seething - passed through the former Wrath and into his palm.

The apex of his ascent came to a slow stop as he prepared to launch the massive force destruction orb to the ground below. It was in that blink that he realized the redhead was gone. And not just in a decreased or minimized way, but outright gone. Turning, she formed in his proximity and was lunging towards him. It was everything he could do to place the orb between them and on contact, it ignited….

The orb released a blast of light that was followed by a strong concussive force and blistering winds, launching in every direction. Skyward and groundward, it was destructive force without any intent. The ground shook, the Nuhlrokka skittered from the sky, sliding across the ground as it smacked against asphalt and headed towards a building. The building with which Jorryn stood, the area where Belphaegor had launched his I-beam, were rocking and threatening to tumble over. Above the Mandalorians, components of building were falling towards them - and Vulpesen might have found it difficult to move against the concussive force.

From the epicenter of the interaction, Reverance shot out like a missile without tail-fins. Crashing through a window into a nearby building, he was flung through a column, the floor, the lower wall, and came to a sliding stop as he exited the back of the building. The building rebutted with a groan, brick loosing from the feature and bowing over.

His signature wasn’t gone, but it was a murmur compared to moments ago.

On the ground below, Alex turned his gaze skyward, watching as Reverance's flying mount wheeled and turned in flight.

"Alex! What is that thing? How do we stop it?"

"Damned if I know, it seems indestructible" Alex replied on his comlink. He'd never seen anything like it in all the years he had wandered the galaxy. His danger sense suddenly went ballistic as he noticed a glowing orb forming in Reverance's hand. The orb exploded overhead and Alex was suddenly blown off his feet by a wave of concussive energy and flung back by the sudden wind which accompanied it. Pieces of buildings were falling around him like meteors. Things were definitely not going the way Alex had hoped for. A piece of a wall loomed over Alex, creaking and groaning ominously as he fought in vain to scramble to his feet.

Dropping his lightsabers, Alex flung his hands up, hoping to use the Force to slow the rubble down before it crushed him. The world suddenly went black around him, and the last thing he heard before drifting into unconsciousness was the voice of one of his comrades shouting over his helmet's comlink.

"ALEX! ALEX! DO YOU COPY? ARE YOU ALIVE?....."

Alexandra had shot out of her little jump through space and saw in an instant that things were not going to be so simple, locking onto the man's hand and staring then at his eyes. She closed her eyes for a half second, the world flashing and her hands coming up as she reached out to make contact with the collection of energy that was building, her own power rushing up through her body as she let the force flow into her with greater force and speed, a conduit for it and surrendering her being to it as she reached out and latched onto the ball of energy that Reverance had been gathering. He had aimed it at her already, that would dissipate the amount of energy aimed at the others but she needed to make certain that no one died from his actions, or as few as possible.

The thought gave her one option and she yanked herself forward through the force, closing that distance and connecting in form with him, and his collected power. The outburst was swift but in those microseconds before it happened, things were still and she stared at the man was trying to harm those below the both of them. Vulpesen was down there, and Yasha, and Abigail was somewhere down there. She would not let him harm the people she cared about and that thought made her further submit to the force as a bright light forced itself into her and curled around the blast as it began to expand.

A shell gathered around the energy, building around it in layers and crafting a barrier that would try to hold back some of the blast but she had failed to truly contain it. She would fail to hold back the power but she would not fail in defending those she loved. Her eyes burned as her clothing tore and the two began to separate now, her cheek torn open as a blade like shred of energy struck her face. Her left arm shifted as another blast of energy escaped and struck it like a cannonball. Bones shattered inside but were kept together thanks to the force, keeping from her veins and muscles being torn apart from the inside. Her left leg similarly suffered, the bones breaking and cracking as she was now a foot from the man infront of her. He was going too, his body taking an equal portion of the energy, but Alexandra would not let him escape this.

She let go, he had placed her life in this spot, and because of that she had gotten to know and meet those below. To know Yasha and to meet Hel's daughter... no her daughter. She breathed out and focused, letting the air be claimed by the world around her and she screamed internally for more help from the force. Her right arm straining now and starting to crack like the left but remaining intact as her projection of the force continued to funnel the blast away from the ground and towards herself, Reverance, or upwards and away from the others.

Her mind knew that there would be buildings struck by the energy as it lashed out from her containment, toppling down and killing or maiming those below. She had to keep trying and as she put what remained of her focus into stopping anymore, she watched as both her physical and force given sight faded. She could not see, not through the force and not through her eyes. Her skin became pale and blood started to come from her mouth and nose. She screamed out again inside and strands that connected her to the force broke to reach out and wrap around the blast, to direct it further away from those before.

It was then that everything returned to real time, Alexandra's focus fading and the world returning to its right speed. She was falling... no more than that, she was sent like a rocket down towards the ground, her body still strengthened and clothing still imbued but even then the ground was coming too fast. She had to slow down but her eyes could not see how close the ground was to her, she could not see any thing to latch onto with the force or to stop herself. She had to slow but she couldn't.

All she could do was trust in her own power and as she rocketed down to the ground, a barrier tried to form behind her, creating a bowl like shape around her that pushed dust and smoke around her as she shot into the city not far from where [member="Reverance"] had landed, and not far from where [member="Yasha Cadera"] protected [member="Kaine Australis"]. She slammed hard into a building and through the roof as she felt her ribs strain and one break on contact, the barrier unable to truly protect her and she only remained conscious thanks to a mix of adrenaline and the force itself.

She remained there, in a hollowed out building with stone and metal around her, glass having made long gashes in her body and blood turning her tunic crimson, the silver color gone. Her eyes, the golden color showing now, the deep red hair spread around her and a tail that had been hidden before laying beside her with it barely moving. Her right leg could still move, her left leg was fractured, but not completely broken... her arms were another story. Her left arm was useless, her right arm barely able to be controlled.

She wanted to know if she protected the others... she hoped that they were ok, she hoped for their safety. Her pale form looked dead already, her eyes distant and unable to work, the force slowly restoring it but not quick enough for her to move or navigate on her own.

She was truly alone for now, blind and alone in this dark place.

Abigail ran towards the point where the most action seemed to be, but on her way there she learned that whatever had happened here, no, was happening here, was all out war. Fights were going on everywhere, and the places were there weren't any going on, the results of already ended battles could be seen. Destroyed buildings, vehicles... and lives.

"I only wish I could have gotten here sooner", Abigail mumbled as she passed a scene where a fight had already ended in a not so pretty way. "Might have been a way to help." Her voice was filled with sadness, as that was the only emotion such a sight could ever create. But there was nothing she could do for these people now. She had to do something, to make sure there wouldn't be any more catastrophes like this.

There was a choice. She could look around. She had no doubts that there were wounded people around, people she could help. But there was also something else... drawing her attention. The Force was restless, more than ever, and it had something to do with what she was seeing up ahead.

Actually, it seemed there wasn't a choice. The Force literally pulled her towards it, nudging her to pick up her pace. Abigail did, eventually, and started jogging towards... whatever was happening. She wasn't very fast, as it was hard to traverse the warzone, and even harder to avoid getting involved in fights. And then... something happened. There were people there, and a... form of energy?

"What in the-", Abigail started, but couldn't even finish her sentence. The two figures suddenly blasted away, and a shockwave suddenly roared through the ground and the buildings. After peeking out from behind her arms, which she had thrown in front of her face for protection, she saw one of the two individuals slam into a building, which was struggling to keep standing on its own. This place had already looked like it was on the brink of collapse when Abigail got here, and whatever just happened... well, it wasn't good. Not at all.

Perhaps this was the time where she would help people. She quickly resumed moving towards the building, which had suffered from the impact as well. She moved faster now, almost tripping a few times, but refusing to slow down nonetheless. She knew Alex was here somewhere, and while the chances were slim Alex had been right there when the blast happened, Abigail had a bad feeling. She ignored it, however, and focused on the situation. She had to do something, she had to ease the suffering wherever she could. She knew that would make Alex proud, wherever her master was.

She saw it through the Force before entering the building. It wasn't a very clear image, but it showed her enough. Enough to know where to go. Abigail made her way through the damaged building, annoyed because it took her so long to do so. It was hard to navigate here, with rubble lying everywhere and loads dust in the air. Eventually, she felt something in the Force. Something... familiar. It wasn't the entity showing her where to go or conveying a message, no, Abigail felt something. On her own. Which scared her. Immensely.

She moved. Still slowed down by the rubble, but more efficient than before. She needed no more directions from the Force. She knew where to go. And when she arrived, she almost wished she hadn't.

Before her lied her master, her mother, in a state which she couldn't ever describe. It had been Alex. And whatever had happened, it was worse than anything Abigail had ever seen. Worse than anything she had ever had to deal with.

"A...Alex?", she exclaimed slowly, not believing her own eyes for a moment. "M....mom? Oh god. No. No no no no no", she repeated with a shaky voice as she quickly kneeled down beside Alex, taking a better look at her. She didn't want to, she really didn't want to. It pained her immensely to have to look at her mother who had to be in so much pain, but she had to. How else was she even going to be able to help? She had to help!

Okay, Abigail had to calm down. Deep breaths. Right. She had healed people before, she could do it again. Easily. With her relation with the Force, it should be easy. But... She had never seen something like this! How was she supposed to... How could she ever...?!

"Mom, hey, talk to me! Hello? Alexandra?"

She knew it was best to hide the fear in her voice in such a situation, but she couldn't. Not now. Not with Alex lying there.

Alex awoke to a static garbled shout from his helmet's commlink. "ALEX!....*static*….ar....*static*...ive in there?!"

"I...think so...I don't feel so hot."

"Ha...on...uddy...re...oming!"

Alex just wanted to drift off again. He was nearly there when another voice broke in, speaking directly to his mind.

"GET UP!"

"Huh?"

"I SAID GET UP ALEX STORMWOLF!"

A chill ran down Alex's spine, because it was a voice he hadn't heard in many years.

"Lady Venge?"

"I'M FLATTERED YOU REMEMBER DARLING. TO CUT TO THE CHASE, YOU AND I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS, SO DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME NOW!"

"Oh, the old 'if anyone's going to have the satisfaction of killing you, it's gonna be me' talk, huh?"

"BRIGHT BOY. NOW HUMOR ME JUST THIS ONE TIME.... AND. GET. UP!"

"Really, Venge, I didn't know you cared!"

"GET UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Ok! Ok! Quit yer yapping!"

Taking a deep breath, Alex centered himself in the Force, visualizing what he wished to accomplish. Suddenly the rubble covering him lifted skywards, allowing Alex to grab his sabers and crawl a few feet before he released his focus. The rubble tumbled back down and Alex rolled onto his back, physically and mentally drained, as he clipped his weapons to his utility belt. One of his fellow Knights knelt by him, checking for injuries. Alex reached a hand up to push him away.

"Stay still, bossman, I'm just doing my job."

"Alright then, what's the verdict?"

"You're barely one step above Bantha fodder," the Knight replied, "definitely going to have to get you to a med bay soon. Here..this'll take the edge off the pain."

Before Alex could protest, the Knight reached into his med pack and retrieved an injector, pressing it against Alex's neck and pushing the button.

"KARK! Do that again and I'll wring your neck!"

"Sorry bossman, had to be done. Let's get you outta here."

"Yeah...sounds like...a plan."

He had a dream. The sort of dream that revolved around a room of glass and duracrete, standing on top of stone cut pillars. Through the tall windows, neon lights shined on rhythm like the asteroids heart beat, reflecting advertisements for male enhancement and assisted tax evasion.

There was a woman there who wasn't Vong. Skin of silver and hair of fire, she was more the home than the home itself. If she moved, so did he. Until he didn't.

Like the ascending and descending veins and arteries, pushing blood from the heart to the limbs, they moved about the asteroid for production. Muscles and fingers, visceral and cerebral, they were the electric stimulus that lifted Nadir and brought it to its knees. But there was always the heart for return, until there wasn't.

If he had ever had a heart, he dreamed that that place of glass and duracrete where he left it. With all his anger and misery, whatever love he knew, all the things he shouldn't have abandoned. On the cracked floor, the silhouette of cobalt blue staring back with his bloodied visor…

~~~
Crimson eye peeled open to a world of rust and dust. Every part of his body, that he could still recognize, ached with a warmth he had not felt in so long. Blood streamed down his forehead, oozing from a deep cut that ran from his forehead to his occipital bun.
The rocks that laid atop him weren't heavy but for all his might, he couldn't move them. Not immediately. The armored plating of the Yuuzhan Vong had broken against his body. What parts of the carapace that weren't jagged pieces sticking out from his flesh, they had sloughed away like gelatin under high heat. He laid in a pile of rocks, chitin, and pooling blood.
The Voxyn arm responded but it did not speak. Pushing rocks off, one by one, he slowly tugged himself loose to the sounds of his own screaming. The pressure sealed skin suit was in one piece, though it was no longer functioning for hermetic capabilities. His non vong arm was broken above the elbow and at the forearm, skin was all that kept it together. The CERS system was unresponsive, broken by the impact.
Hobbling to a stand, his knees nearly buckled as he felt the heat of the tattoo across his back. The fire flared almost enough to distract him the overwhelming pain, signaling the weak return of his connection to [member="Aver Brand"]. For the briefest moment, his resolve faltered and he felt the sting of regret. But it was too late for that, it was too late for everythong. The realization was cemented within him as he knelt next to his Nuhlrokka, blood flowing freely from his numerous wounds. The Voxyn arm patted the fur of the beast, finding no breath or pulse.
Reverance sucked in breath, tasting the air and copper tones of blood. It had been a good fight.
An explosion struck, and Yasha hunkered down to one knee, using her shield to protect herself and Kaine. Putting the flames out with her armour weave cloak, Yasha tucked it around her riduur, yanking off Kaine’s buy’ce to give him her last dose of Sovereign Specific, before scanning around the battlefield with help from Cerani’s many eyes.
“Ale’ika.” The battle was clearly won for the Republic. Enemies fled. Buildings crumbled. A woman Yasha loved exploded, and Yasha’s heart with the debris. Thrown like wet laundry in a storm. Caught between Kain’ik’s protection and the ability to save Alex from another serious spill, Yasha held herself over Kaine’s comatose body. He was breathing. She saw it in her HUD.
“Cerani, Buir needs you. Medical evac. Now. Captain Kierke, send down a cohort of our engineers and medics.” There was no time to swoop in. Solus Rekr was still firing and clawing at the bounty hunters. Alex hit hard, and behind her helm, Yasha grit her teeth.
“Enough.” Yasha pointed at Abigail, tossing her the scant medkit attached to her thigh plate. The fellow young woman was flipping. She needed a focus. Yasha’s booming voice echoed through the battlefield. “Abigail! Breathe! Ensure Alex is breathing. She’s got a dose of regenerative medicine in her system. Use the bacta patches on the worst wounds. Keep her comfortable and don’t move her unless you have to. Don’t let her get up. That is your mission, Abby! That and nothing else!”
Picking up her spear, Yasha stomp-limped to where [member="Reverance"] crawled from the rubble and grieved over the broken Nuhlrokka. She triggering the spearhead’s small inhibition field. After the lethal brawl nearly claimed the lives of Kain’ik and Ale’ika, the Infernal took neither a chance nor a cautious approach. This man was as deadly as a singularity. Caustic pain would work with the miniature dovin basal in her spearhead to restrain him.
“Harm Kaine or Alex one more time and I will chop your body into bits and feed them to seven different suns.” Yasha yanked a Mandalorian-made High Security Deterrent Collar around his neck. Separate restraints around his ankles and what was left of his wrists. She dragged him by the collar to Alex’s feet, her back burning from the exertion. Yasha put forth a message on the Republic comm channels.
“Republic command. This is Mand’alor the Infernal. I have your menace. Collect him before I put my blade through his throat. Engineers and medics from my flagship are requesting permission to make planetfall. Let them through and the relief effort can begin immediately. Mand’alor out.”
Cerani veered down to Kaine’s side, her ‘sisters’ easing him on a stretcher for transport to the nearest medic. If there was a resurgence from some mean angle, securing Kain’ik’s body was the best way to move him with speed. The twi’lek-human-epicanthix hybrid jogged to her ‘mother’’s side, taking note of the injuries listed through the biotag on Yasha’s armour.
“Buir, you okay?” Cerani cocked her blue skinned head to the side, a twinge of concern on her pretty twi’lek face.
“Tend to him, you two. Cerani, bring another body board and come with me.” Yasha descended to a knee beside Abigail and Alex, her crushgaunt momentarily brushing the hair away from Alex’s face.
“You have your prize, can have him gagged if you wish c’yare. Fething target… you’re getting armour, Ale’ika. You are not allowed to get wounded like this again. Abby, honey. Breathe. Alex isn’t going to die.
Neither of us will let her.”
