- Station Systems:
- Orbital Fortress: The Tarrasque is one of the largest and most heavily equipped orbital stations constructed by the Sith Empire, with its dazzling array of long-range cannons and anti-starfighter emplacements, robust shields, and impressive power generation. Few among the Empire's menagerie of defensive emplacements come close to comparing.
- Degree of Fire: Because the majority of the long-range weapons are situated around the circular outer ring, the Tarrasque has a 360° field of fire to attack anything that comes within its effective range. Smaller anti-starfighter guns riddle its surface, creating an overlapping field of flak.
- No Hyperdrive: The Tarrasque does not possess a hyperdrive of any kind, and are generally incapable of movement without the aid of other ships moving it.
- No Maneuverability: All Tarrasques are built within the orbit of the planet they're defending and cannot be moved without the aid of tug-ships. Once moved into an optimal geostationary orbital position, they do not move.
Put into construction sometime following the Second Battle of Mandalore, the Tarrasque was the Sith Empire's evolution of its smaller and generally less armed orbital platforms that had been the staple of the orbital defense strategy since the inception of the Empire. Larger than all other orbital platforms, the Tarrasque's role was to protect the Empire's most strategically important worlds in conjunction with the already existing catalog of platforms in use, such as the Bulwark, Darkstar, Darkpyre, and Vakvita orbital platforms. This, combined with the defense fleets that would often remain in orbit of these important worlds, would allow for a robust and flexible defensive screen against any would-be invading force. Though the Tarrasque was not made readily available in time to defend the worlds of Muunilinst and Mygeeto, the Empire was quick to build several of these stations around the throneworld of Bastion.
The main strength of the Tarrasque was its array of two-hundred long-range turbolaser cannons, each one strong enough to be numbered among the worthiest of capital ship grade weapons. Power generation for these weapons was achieved through Amaranth Crystals, which could produce twenty-times the standard energy output of conventional sources of power like plasma. Focusing lasers were channeled through multiple series of Amaranth Crystals to achieve that destructive power, which was then collected and ejected out through the cannon's barrel at breakneck velocity.
Power for the rest of the station's system was generated through a single hypermatter annihilator reactor, with backup generators consisting of fusion generators, solar ionization collectors, and energy cyclers.
Situated along the outer lateral trench of the weapon ring and along the central command spire were multiple launch bays for starfighters and ancillary craft such as gunboats and boarding craft. The composition of the ship complement of a Tarrasque was generally at the commanding officer's discretion, often catering to their preferences in regards to strategy. Internal maintenance bays allowed for the quick repair of damaged vessels within the safety of the station, with each Tarrasque carrying a large surplus of raw material that could be converted into starcraft components by automated production banks.
Internal defense systems were widespread and comprehensive, such as blast doors, laser gates, autoblasters, and force field generators. A garrison consisting of two companies (generally 1,024 - 1,152 soldiers) remained onboard to defend and repel against attempting boarding parties. These two companies were supplemented by a variety of mechanized forces, such as OMYN, Scourge Mk. I, and Scourge Mk. II battle droids.
