SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Taanab Center for Galactic Biodiversity
  • Classification: Educational Park
  • Location: Taanab
  • Affiliation: Taozi Fuyuan
  • Accessibility: As an educational park, it is fully accessible to the public.
  • Description: At almost 2.5km in diameter, this circular park is a vast space with plenty of places to explore. With the above-ground biomes and the Taanab Spire being designed to resemble the shape of a flower when viewed from above, it's every detail shows off the skill of the architect tasked with designing it. The walkways that represent the ends of the "petals" are lined with wind turbines, which help power the facility. Not counting Taanab Spire, there are 31 total greenhouses, each dedicated to the eco-system of a different planet.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Taanab Spire
- Located at the very center of the park, the Taanab Spire is the most iconic building in the park. With a total of 7 spaces inside, it is by far the largest greenhouse of the park. True to it's name, the greenery placed in this spire are all native to Taanab itself, with one area being dedicated to agricultural plants and practicality. Another dedicated greenery space is dedicated solely to wild plants, and isn't quite as organized as it's agricultural counterpart. There's also a third area, which is more like a small water park with a small saltwater park, which is filled with native sea life. The pond also feeds into an interactive rock pool, where under staff supervision guests can interact with various types of fish and other sea creatures.

In the spire is also a food court, which has multiple local and franchised companies. Though, by and large the most popular is The Cat's Paw Cafe which sells all of the company's products, including but not limited to their Sweetest Sweets Series Animal Cakes, Cat's Cheese, and the Happy Pills Cat Chocolates. FizzleCo drinks were considered in being paired in the café, but Taozi made the executive decision to ban the sale of the drinks in her park after taking a look at their ingredient list. Instead, the café has a curated and doctor-approved list of teas, flavored waters, and healthy-ish carbonated beverages to pair with your favorite sweet treat!

Not far from the food court, is a large relaxation area, with many, many seating areas. These areas vary between simple picnic benches, comfy park benches, lounge chairs, and many more. Some areas are, of course, more private than others as well. With some being hidden behind tall flower-covered trellises, and others tucked away between flowering wisteria trees. No matter one's preference, there's a place for you to sit and relax among nature.

At the center of the spire's building, is an interactive educational space. Here, one can wander through exhibits by themselves, or attend guided tours with biologists to be able to ask questions. The exhibits in the center spire are all dedicated to more expansive information dumps than the simple plaques in the greenhouse areas. You can also find the entrance to the underground portion of the park here. Finally, for those not afraid of heights, there are multiple transparent elevators to take one to the top of the spire. The top of the spire is entirely dedicated to being an aviary. Here, one can walk through enclosed pathways down multiple winding paths, while safely observing the avian life Taanab has to offer.

Underground Bio-Spaces - Taking either the large staircase, ramp, or elevator down from the center of Taanab Spire brings one down to what seems like a whole new world. What starts as an artificially lit circular room, branches off into dimming hallways where guests can visit underground spaces containing the ecosystem's of various planets with dark or otherwise underground flora. All of them contain blue lights that line and light the walkways in otherwise dark or dimly lit spaces, and only during the dark hours of Taanab's long night do the dim blue lights in the roof help illuminate the area. Besides the walkway lighting, many of the plants in these isolated biomes are bioluminescent and provide most of the light during the daylight hours.

Planetary "Petal" Greenhouses - Surrounding the Taanab Spire and built above ground, all of these petal-shaped greenhouses are, like their underground partners, dedicated to a single planet's ecosystem. Many of these greenhouses contain the wild, agricultural, and medicinal plants of the planets they represent. Of course, the types of plants are separated and organized by their purpose within their greenhouses. Native pollinators from each planet have also been brought in, to keep the enclosed ecosystems healthy, and any physical homes are kept high above near the roofs of the greenhouse, to keep visitors from tampering with them.

A few planets of note are Atrisia, Commenor, Domhanda, and Vanquo. The Vanquo greenhouse, of course, has excluded all of the deadly fauna that inhabit the planet.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Inspired by the tenacity of the Taanabian farmers in the years of rebuilding their farms after the Confederacy's invasion of the planet, Taozi decided it was high time to create a monument to Taanab's farming families. After discussing her idea with the families she's most often in contact with, the idea for a park celebrating the biodiversity of the planet was decided. Though, knowing how much of a money sink that would be, and with the blessing of the farmers, Taozi expanded the idea to include other planets ecosystem's and bio-diversity to bring in off-worlders to both visit and to donate to it.

Donations to the park, of course, being tax deductible as they are for a non-profit organization.
