STRENGTHS
- Navi-Enabled. The ship's main computer features a voice-enabled digital assistant.
- Hawk-Bat Out Of Hell. The ship is insanely fast, clocking in at 0.52 past lightspeed. When the hyperdrive is working, anyway.
- The Power of P.L.O.T. The Sasori Praestigiae's Luminous Overlaid Technological (P.L.O.T.) shields incorporate multiple layers of defense that give the ship above-average defensive capabilities, including improved shielding against solar activity, ion storms, or other forms of electromagnetic radiation that could be disruptive to droids. And also organics.
- Redundant Power Systems. Because of the (high) chance of burn out, the ship incorporated two sources of auxiliary power generation, including crystasteel panels that functioned as solar collectors.
- But I Just Fixed That. The level of questionable engineering involved in this junkyard chop job would make a Corellian shake his head.
- Hungry, Hungry Hyperdrives. The Corex hyperdrive is known to interfere with ship's systems; lights, refreshers, artificial gravity.
- The Power of P.L.O.T. The shields place a heavy demand on the ship's power grid, especially when multiple systems are in use. Brown outs and burn outs may occur.
- Achilles Heel. Because of the competing power demands of the shields and the hyperdrive, the ship must drop its shields before it can engage the hyperdrive.
The Starlight Midget was a ship literally cobbled together from debris scavenged from the sands of Sevarcos, not unlike how its creator came to be. The frame for the ship was a Lucerne Labs Starskimmer-series hull recovered from wreckage, cut down and bonded using Corellian epoxy in order to make it serviceable again. This resulted in the narrow body of the ship. The engines of the wreckage were recovered and refurbished, while the hyperdrive was from a broken model that had been discarded and repaired. Each of the components was sourced from junkyards, wrecks, or abandoned ships, many deemed unusable that were stripped down and repaired by the chore bot to achieve a bare minimum of functionality.
"A bare minimum of functionality" is an apt phrase to describe the ship. Like its owner, the ship is lacking in proper resources or parts, leading to frequent break downs. The hyperdrive and the shield generator individually have power demands that place a heavy burden on the ship's power grid. When used in tandem, the power grid fails, resulting in a specific design flaw that required that the shields be taken off-line before the hyperdrive could be spun up. This created a window of time in which the shields would be inoperable while the power was transferred and the hyperdrive systems brought to full operational readiness before the ship could safely make the jump to lightspeed. Even then, switching over too quickly could overload the ship's power grid.
The normal compliment for the ship included a BB-4000 Companion Droid, a Ronk droid, and a MSE-series mouse droid. Despite this, the ship featured standard life support systems as well as a food synthesizer, in the event that it needed to support organic lifeforms. There was also a small refresher on board.
