  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Titanium-Chromium Compound, Borium-Durelium Components
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • N/A
STRENGTHS
  • Budgetary Restraint: Despite being almost twice as fast as a standard Class 1 Hyperdrive, the Corex 0.52 is only slightly more expensive.
  • Efficient Design: A Corex 0.52 can take the place of an Average Hyperdrive with only a negligible drop in performance in other systems.
WEAKNESSES
  • Power Hungry: The Corex 0.52 places a great deal of strain upon a ship's power generation capabilities when in use, effectively lowering two other ratings by one or one rating by two shortly before and after making a jump - less than ideal when entering or fleeing a fight.
  • Rocky Ride: Skimping on some of the more expensive parts in order to keep prices down, the Corex 0.52 has an unfortunate tendency to cause "mild fluctuations" in "nonessential" systems when in use, including lights, refreshers, and artificial gravity.
DESCRIPTION
Developed by the Corex Trading Company to increase the efficiency of its shipping network without having to bankrupt themselves in doing so, the Corex 0.52 is a fairly good alternative, its primary appeal being its relatively (it's still bloody expensive, like most Hyperdrives) low cost and the fact that it doesn't impact other systems any more than a slower variant... except when actually in use.

Disregarding numerous complaints about fluctuations in artificial gravity even when properly supplied with power from other systems, the 0.52 was rolled out across much of Corex's mercantile fleet and quickly became a favourite of the company's accountants, if not its spacers.

OOC: "Going below 1 typically requires balancing out with other weaknesses", Starship 5.1 Templates - intended to roll a Very Fast Hyperdrive and the necessary weaknesses into a single submission for convenience.

Please make a note that this hyperdrive constitutes a Very Fast hyperdrive for use in future submissions. Since this is an open-market, mass-produced item, I'd just like to see that future users would adjust hyperspace ratings when using it. Otherwise, this is great and good to go! So please let me know when you have made the note and I'll approve it.
