So, seeing how i really have lost my muse and also partially in recognition that Solan's death requirements i set in place a few months back have been met, i come asking people who have or haven't RPed with the char what they think. Should i kill him off because his personal mission is complete and as such he sees himself as the last monster to eliminate and ive exhausted his story, or should i try to find some way to keep him going. What do you guys think?

As sad as this is, I think his time may have come, only because I RPed with you, but not very long... had I stuck around for more, I'd have found out the personal mission, but I don't care, if the "Shadow Prince" sees himself as a monster, he should at least go in a blaze of blackened glory. BUT! I will provide a reason to live... you should get to Master before dying at least.

In my experience folks often regret killing off beloved characters when their muse returns...

As such I vote we freeze him in carbonite and he gets to adorn one of my offices <3

And that way if you ever want him back he can get unthawed, and if not, I have a bitchin' wall ornament.

When in doubt, give someone free Stygium. (Just kidding)

Characters, like anyone in the real world, are shaped by their experiences. Everyone has dreams, goals, and ambitions. Fulfilling them isn't justification to conclude the story, it's a gargantuan reason to start a new chapter.

So no, I say press forward. Find a new angle or path to explore with Solan. :)

Whaaaaaat!

Well. Given that I still poke my nose into sites I've abandoned years ago if only because I like to check on folks in an OOC manner, I would still say keep some of your babies so you could pick them up if you liked. Just in case.

...plus if he was kept safe and sound on my wall and you came back in a few IC years you wouldn't need to justify where he'd been all that time ;p

This decision is completely up to. Whatever you choose by your own while listening to your heart and following your thoughts is right. Just as a little note, though - I myself avidly believe that all characters have to die some time. And not just dying and then coming back, but I mean complete death. If you find your character to be troubling you or you suffer from lots of losses of inspiration, your character is already dead and you're just trying to keep a dead body alive. In this case, I would suggest letting go.

Letting go of the characters dear to you also opens up a new world for you. Keeping yourself attached to one character like that keeps you from moving on.

On the other hand, if you have muse and you still love writing your character and every IC post with him, keep him. After all, it all depends on what you want to do and how you personally feel about it. If you want to kill him off, do that. If you want him to stay alive, that's completely okay.

If you kill him, at least drop my scythe off at the door first, please. :p

In all seriousness, the way Ellya worded it is flawless. I voted "Yes," but only because I feel it'll help give you the opportunity to try out new ideas and creations. It's sort of like a clean slate, where all of the dispositions and relations your character garnered just disappear, and you get to look at things with a new perspective, whether it be a different faction, a different path or just a new start.

Writer's block comes and goes. If it were me, I'd just as soon have my character ride off into the sunset.

If I never get to write them again, so be it. But if I want to write them again, there's an easy way to come back with the same character.

IMHO, character deaths for OOC reasons are silly.

Ive been debating leaving the site all together, thus why i plan to kill him off
If thats your main reason I say No, Because I believe thats an action that will be regret-able.

But if its for the story I say Yes... And though i wanted to see Solan reach Master Rank personally, Now that i know his story some what i understand why his story comes to an end. Only request is that you make his last thread a good read and no i dont mean a "good action read" make the audience understand from Solans perspective on why it must all end.

My 50¢'s are done

There was this one character I sort of intended to kill off from the beginning. Looking back, I regret killing him the way I did. He would have been awesome for this board. Just remember that if you kill your character, there is no way to bring them back. Believe me, I've had several times where writing Nefertari was difficult. That's when you should create some sort of new development for them.

Don't kill him! He's the only evil person in the RA... aside from me... We could destroy the Force together. :D

Seriously though, I would say don't kill him, just in case you come back and want to write him again. Maybe put him on some Outbound Flight rip-off?

"A Dramatic Force-Blessed Myth"
I say let him live. He's got a lot of other characters hes affected and is still effected. Not to mention, he's starting to build up a role in the Vitae Alliance with recruitment and diplomacies.

I lean toward seeing what would be fun to write, then bringing that into the character, and evolving them.

Some you can't do that with, and yes I have killed off my share, but I always had a look first.

Also though remember, killing them off isn't the only way to go ;) can do a sunset ending, a fade to black, a mystery disappearance, lot of ways to go, even leave it on a cliffhanger while you decide.

I didn't vote as I've never written with this character yet, but seeing you wrote Yusan, be sad to lose a decent writer, who was fun to plot with once upon a time.
