The name of the game is star wars, with that said. There is no reason to get rid of Invasions or clouds in my mind. If we did i ask of this community how long till we all lose interest, how long till we all just gear down as we now have no where to prove that our time spent here is effecting the board as a whole. The Invasions and Major Faction clouds show that work, that effort, in making this board unique and most importantly. -OUR- Home. To remove it would be like creating a void in this place... plus its fun, im putting off my own personal story to fight in the next to Sith Invasions, come at us bros and gals.

While I'm not against change in any way, it is my belief that Invasions and Influence Clouds are both so firmly rooted on this site that they will never be voted to disappear. I also think that if Influence Clouds were to be removed, the appeal of having major factions would diminish considerably.

There's no option for my opinion. I took the closest thing to it and will explain here.

Major factions are an important story element. I have yet to see a single Star Wars RP site that doesn't include them for that exact reason. One needs to be able to keep track of who has what influence where. Without them, planet claims would be he-said-she-said, and there would be an unservicable amount of chaos in Chaos. Star Wars is about galactic political monoliths clashing with each other, often on unequal footing.

Likewise, while invasions are angsty dramafests, this is not by merit of them being invasions. The problem lies in the memberbase, not in the idea of two superpowers clashing. If anything were to be changed, I'd say it should be the design of how we handle invasions. Without them, it would be (as has been stated) a gridlock. Unhealthy for the memberbase, with no motivation to do anything.

Factions and invasions are, in my opinion, necessary evils. Their design isn't wonky, and they have the potential to be enjoyed. As members, we need to make the change in how WE handle them.

I honestly enjoy invasions but I want to stop with the angst and drama. Influence clouds are nice to show where factions have put in effort and worked hard, maybe look at some other aspects to cut down on the drama.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
I'd like to propose something some may call silly. Why not put a hiatus on invasions until all the planets on the map have been dominioned? You know... Make invasions to gain territory the last possible option? It would give invasions a bit more rationale - with few exceptions, factions typically invade one another to gain territory. When all the territory's been dominioned, and invasions are the only way for factions to get more land and resources, things will get a lot more interesting.

I believe my stance on Star Peace is well-known by now, since I'm terribly vocal about it!

I see no reason at all for such change. It would only stifle organic development. If Major Factions, or rather nations, cannot compete with each then frankly I don't see any purpose for them. Yes, there is angst in invasions. There's angst in every endeavour.

The game is about galactic powers clashing with one another, all trying to enforce their view upon the galaxy. A lot of effort went into creating each of the major powers that now dominate the galaxy. The One Sith have shown how the galactic status quo can be seriously shaken up and several great and exciting plots have been generated by this.

Problem does not lie in the system but in the way people act and frankly while nothing is perfect on the whole things have gone well. Simply imposing such artificial constraints will not make everyone shiny and happy! Let competition, war and struggle decide over whether a faction lives or dies.

NO MORE HIATUS!

Sorry [member="Enigma"], but the last one put my story arc on a big halt and showed one of the most boring times I've had as a writer.

Also, Invasions are the reasons for factions and if the republic wanted phrik right now and no more invasions were done.. well so much for Alderaan. Sucks for you. Thus why we shouldn't get rid of them. Keep fighting over resources beliefs, and most of all PRETTY COLORS!

Keep the invasions. Restrict the Force users.

Without the hordes of titanic Force users, would there really be as many complaints?

I am dead serious.

And please note that I said restrict and not remove. I would never advocate eliminating the Force aspect. I just see it getting abused too much.

Oh, please....

The invasions are the most active threads on this board. Dominions don't get nearly as many hits. We should just ban simultaneous invasions of the same faction.

invasions an influence clouds have never been a problem. and they still are not. 'playing to win', encouraging bad behavior, and not taking the opinions and enjoyment of opposing writers into consideration has been the primary stem from which current problems has arisen.

the rules as they have been written arr intended to be fair and balanced. and up until recently, they have been unquestionably successful. but changing rules or even proposing changing rules because one cluster of writers or another wants an advantage when writing against other writers, or wants to dictate terms of engagement... it creates a lot of problems.

and i know that ive been spouting off about the OS a lot lately. i apologize for that. i have no problem with them IC or with their individual writers. but the faction leadership, in my view, have been bullies and instegators for a great deal of drama and conflict on an OOC level to the extent that, before too long, this board will devolve into 'the one sith' and 'everyone else', much in the same way T*G*C turned into 'WOT' and 'everyone else'.

I care too much about this site to let that happen, and i feel that staff's handling of the situation since the creation of the OS faction has allowed us to move down the path to ruin.

I proposed a code of conduct so that staff could poke at people who caused OOC conflict and help keep things from fracturing and prevent views of favoritism by omission.
