She Looked At Me With Them Big Brown Eyes (Underground Rebellion vs Black Rose)

Ashin Varanin

Professional Enabler
Over the course of a year and a half, the Underground had entrenched itself in the Kathol Outback from Kal'Shebbol to Demonsgate. Alec had lost good crewers, good friends, and a solid ship on that expedition. She'd weathered the hallucinations of the Kathol Rift. But she'd come back knowing the Outback from stem to stern, having filled the months-long route with monitoring satellites, informants, bolt-holes and operatives. And she'd come back with some truly comprehensive maps.

Right now, the Black Rose controlled Kal'Shebbol at one end and Demonsgate at the other. In the middle, however -- Exocron, the Kathol Republic, and so forth -- they just didn't have dominance.

When the Underground circled the wagons and considered its assets, most of the groups and crews that came forward flew relatively small, ramshackle ships. That could be a liability in many circumstances, but it was ideal for sneaking an Underground strike force through the Kathol Outback piece by piece. It also meant that Alec could deploy Ret'lini S-thread boosters and Clan Rekali astrogators to shave weeks off those complex jumps.

The journey from Kal'Shebbol to Demonsgate, with an experienced crew and good maps and a class-one hyperdrive and all the luck in the 'verse, took about four months at minimum. To stretch a plan, a campaign, out over those distances was to radically increase the danger to any one component of the strike force. But it also meant that reinforcements from core Black Rose territory wouldn't reach Demonsgate for close to half a year. A trip to Demonsgate was no mean feat, though people kept going there on pilgrimage to rip a little phrikite out of the blasted dirt. If they wanted to spend a year of their lives for a trinket, that was their prerogative. Fortunately, prospectors would likely be a minimal factor in this operation - apart from the loot some of them might provide. After all, they'd profited under the auspices of an evil regime.

CHOKE POINT AUREK: PEMBRIC TWO (KATHOL SECTOR)
  • A swampy shadowport with a strong, entrenched Underground presence, easily supported by Underground forces in the Kathol Sector.
  • There is no way around the Pembric system.
  • Any Black Rose reinforcements from Kal'Shebbol or their primary territory will need to pass through the Pembric system.
  • [member="Draco Vereen"] has been contracted to hold the Pembric Two choke point against potential fleet incursions. His rewards will be...significant.

CHOKE POINT BESH: TIMBRA OTT (MARCOL VOID)
  • A volcanic shadowport, easily supported by the Underground allies at Jangelle and the Kathol Republic.
  • There is no way around the Timbra Ott system.
  • Any Black Rose reinforcements from Kal'Shebbol or their primary territory, assuming they get past Pembric Two, will need to pass through the Timbra Ott system.

CHOKE POINT CRESH: UUKAABLIS (NEAR QEKTOTH CONFEDERATION)
  • A highly advanced civilization, allied with the Underground, largely peaceful but boasting powerful defensive technology.
  • There is no way around the Uukaablis system.
  • Any Black Rose reinforcements from Kal'Shebbol or their primary territory, assuming they get past Pembric Two and Timbra Ott, will need to pass through the Uukaablis system.
CHOKE POINT DORN: THE SIEGE OF DEMONSGATE
  • Within the Kathol Rift sits the planet Demonsgate, unsurpassed in its remoteness. The Underground strike force has descended on Demonsgate and blockaded the system.

The first group of ships dropped out of hyperspace on the first leg of the trip, skirting Kal'Shebbol to gain access to the Trition Trade Route. The fleet was moving in pieces, in an attempt to minimize damage done in the Kathol Outback, and so that the size of the full force would be much harder to estimate for the Black Rose forces. Most of them had already disbanded and went from Sith worshipping hellspawn, to democracy supporting dictators already, and the government was on the rocks, systems slipping through its fingers left and right.

Kolatill was the first stop, each stop took time and resulted in the fleet being days out from Pembric II still, the choke point the Underground, more importantly, Clan Rekali had requested the Alit'buir lead a strike force to secure. The Mandalorian was prepared with a number of cargo ships in the force, and was hoping ammunition replenishment and operations would be available. His forces could handle the operation for a while, but at a certain point, the fleet would require assistance and need the support of the Underground to resupply, repair, and continue the fight. For right now, the single PCL-27 that was travelling with his own forces would have to be enough.

The first contingent reverted to realspace, and Draco lay in his quarters, looking up at the ceiling. Four. More. Days. That was what the captain had told him on the radio. Four more days before the first ships arrived at the choke point, with the rest of the strike force arriving at random intervals to be dispersed throughout the local area.

He could feel the Skira-class Battleship rotating, re-positioning itself to re-enter Hyperspace for the next part of their journey. Twelve hours, he was told. The dark haired mandalorian hoped Faith wouldn't have as much trouble. "I think she has a silkworm package. Two days from Kel-Shebbol to Pembric? Not as bad." Could be worse. Could have taken the Rimma Trade Route for two straight days working around Galactic Alliance check points. His men had taken to calling the Alliance, the Galactic Customs Service because of the number of security check points that had to be avoided. Too much talk, and the secret would be out, and so it was better to move around them, even though it took longer than going through them.

Already the ships, on the far edges of the system were moving to jump to the next system twelve hours out and then to the next, and the next, and the next. The most direct route it was not, but his people assured him it was the fastest way to Pembric Two.

Gheleon and The Thieves of Pembric II
I

Gheleon's transport had landed on one of the asteroid's so-called shadowports, the Mandalorian had no idea what a shadowport is as it seemed just as a large spaceport on an asteroid. He was told it was through here one had to take transport to the planet itself. This was due to the asteroid field that surrounded the planet often had asteroids launched down on the planet's surface, where the cities of the planet would activate their shields and thus no ship could land at that time. Now it was apparently that case according to some brute-looking savages who impolitely stated that all transport to Eriwthat was halted until the asteroid threat was dealt with. Of course their statement was full with mockery about his accent. Yet, that would not stop Gheleon from his exploration thirst.

Ever since he had left Dxun, the Mandalorian was greatly hyped to travel and explore the galaxy. The galaxy that had been closed to him all his life, living among the monstrosities of the cursed moon of Onderon. After his rescue, he'd spent some time on Mandalore where he watched his bo-rifle being made. Later, he had been instructed that the best place to find more about his Dathomiri Magick enhancement was with the Witchmasters of Dathomir, an odd, yet colorful and friendly bunch which he joined on their adventure on Kintan. He couldn't help it but feel welcome among the Witches.

Now, Gheleon ventured on the quite congested streets of the shadowport, eyes following him constantly. His Mandalorian kin had told him that the Mandalorians always took the eyes of the sentients of the galaxy as they felt threatened at their presence. That did not ease Gheleon's wariness, his senses were sharpened to anything that might threaten him. This shadowport certainly did not emit an aura of safety.

"Please help! My house is on fire!" Gheleon turned to face the source of the voice - a young pretty blonde lady that honestly looked in trouble. She had been calling to him.

"What is in need?" Gheleon dashed at her with trouble in his already broken Basic accent.

"Please help me, my house is on fire and I've forgotten my cat inside!! Come!" The woman pulled him by his hand and unwillingly Gheleon followed her down an alley, by the end of it he could see smoke coming out of an entrance.

"I go. You wait." He told her and dashed infront of her headed straight towards the source of the smoke.

Turning left to enter the what was supposed to be a house in flames, Gheleon was instead greeted by a grinning chubby man with a smoke spewer.

Before he could say something, a blunt pain rocked the back of his head and his world turned black.

He had put the Shining Starr into dry dock to get her fitted and supplied out so she would ready for the campaign ahead and low and behold it had already begin without him. Walking to the engine room he saw the engineers already hard at work installing the new components. To late to make them stop he though seeing how far the upgrade integration process had progressed. Only one thing left to do he thought, call Merrill with the bad news then take a nap. This captain stuff is tiring.

The first element of the Mandalorian strike force reverted from hyperspace just outside of Charis, the fleet already turning to move to the third leg of the trip through the Kathol Sector. Twelve hours to the next system, nineteen hours down. There was a reason this sector wasn't supposed to be held by a major galactic power. The amount of ships it required to instill security and subjugate this sector of space was enormous, and it was basically sacrificing those ships. If any of them were needed it would be days before they could get through the sector and out into the galaxy at large, assuming they were at the first choke points.

Draco himself was spending his four days, now three, exercising. It took a lot of work to maintain a warrior's physique, and it took more work to fully recover from having his Force Bonds severed. During the time he was without the Force, he had taken to heavy gravity training, and now that his abilities were returning, he was playing around with his abilities. The severing had cost him some of his powers, but not all. He could no longer create Death Fields, and his power with Force Drain was significantly hampered. But, his abilities at Force Suppression were as strong as ever and he was learning to manipulate his own physical prowess with more efficiency. He had always been able to enhance his body to a degree, but having been cut from the Force for a time, Draco poured countless hours into his physical prowess, and his bonds with the Force reflected this new focus.

The ships powered back on and launched into Hyperspace again, moving towards Gandle Ott, the next planet the Strike Force would have to move through. The next sections were calling in during the short time the first element was in real space. They were moving in pieces, steadily keeping pace with the primary force. With the second group traveled an Argent-class Manufacturing Dreadnought as the support element to the group. Such a vessel could provide a great deal of supplies.

The Graul-Class dropship shook and rattled as it entered the atmosphere of Tibra Ott. The shuttle was occupied by an assortment of Paladins of many different genders and species, an odd mix for sure. There was a total of three dropships, each containing twelve heavily armed Paladins ready for battle. They were escorted by a pair of Revelation gunships to ensure their landing was at least relatively safe, though one never knew for sure in situations like these.
They were contracted by a certain [member="Jorus Merrill"] to occupy this particular point in space. He and his organization were initiating a hostile takeover of Demonsgate, currently owned by the Black Rose cult. To ensure none of the cultists would provide reinforcements to their brethren, Jorus had contracted the Paladin Consortium to hold a chokepoint that'd block access to the planet.
However, before the Consortium could send in their fleet, there was a slight issue The planet's defenses would engage them as soon as they came out of hyperspace, making the chokepoint's defense rather difficult. Therefore, a 36-man strike force had been chosen to execute a spec ops mission that involved infiltrating the Planetary Defense Facility and hijacking the weapons to use for their own agenda. It was sure to be extremely dangerous, but the Banshee was looking forward to it.
As Axel was doing a routine weapons check, he heard the ship's intercom crackle to life. "90 seconds until drop-off, we'll be ejecting you some 25 meters off the surface. Get your jumpacks ready."
The mercenary nodded, standing up even as the ship was rattling its way downward. He walked up to the front of the dropship, shouting out to everyone on board. "You heard the man, 90 secs until drop-off! Lock and load!" The fight for Demonsgate was about to begin.

Time... It was a funny, fluid thing really. It shifted perception and knowledge, blurring reality itself if enough of it passed through. Julius had seen and experienced far more than his fair share of it. Far, far more. A trip that had previously only been made by [member="Alec Rekali"] had been undertaken by him. Ending in him spending a period of time aboard a sanhedrim ship belonging to the Aing-Tii warrior monks. It had been at first a meeting of pure happenstance. He hadn't anticipated meeting them at that point. Several of his companions that had joined him had been taken by slavers, a lightning raid that left his beloved YT-2400 crippled and a wreck. But he had taken an escape pod and, in a moment of pure insanity, fired it at the fleeing slavers.

Crash had nearly killed him, and the pain was almost crippling at first. But he had came to, fought his way into the ship, and began a murderous swathe of rescue towards their holding cells. That is when the Aing-Tii struck. Along with the slavers, he was left incapacitated. Weaponry of the Aing-Tii was different, as he would come to learn. It was sheer luck, really, that he was allowed to survive. In a moment of affectation, he had donned his Vanguard armor, etched with symbols from his time with the Galactic Alliance. Lightsaber in hand, he had taken the fight to the enemy, and somehow the Monks seemed to know. A certain one he had met was actually quite impressed, thought by what he wasn't sure.

Eventually, he had been... Well... Interrogated wasn't the right word, but nor was questioned... Something between it really, a happy medium of the two. Answer sufficing (and detailed elsewhere) he had asked a rare boon. Watching the Aing-Tii operate, and fight, he had become impressed. Not exactly an unaccomplished warrior himself... Their methods were almost akin to what he knew. Their acceptance to work with him on their ship, raiding slavers and enemies of the monks and training with them, was something that truly touched him. And the knowledge he gained was invaluable. Elevated from a deadly duelist, to with their help, something of a manifestation of the Force itself it seemed, Julius blossomed beyond just the average Jedi.

Sword-Father, was what they had called him. It seemed half compliment and half insult, much like "Engine Grease" had been for Alec. He had taken the name as blessing. Glavo Pahro was how he named himself now, the name of 'Julius Sedaire' being let go. The Force had guided him to the Monks, that much he was sure of. To learn of them, and more importantly perhaps, of himself. Time had been fluid, liquid, and strange to his perception. Skills like Fighting Sight and Folding Space were taught to him, though he was much more adept at the former than the latter. Whereas before pure speed was his ally, agility and speed became equals in his repertoire of skills. Most fell to him before they knew he was there.

However, there had been something that had happened... His mind was growing fainter and more fuzzed by the minute... Was it a crash of the ship they had lent him? Had he been let go, his training "complete" in their eyes? Either way, his mind burned in pain and confusion, his memorie fuzzing. The last thing he saw as system alarms blared with lights, and louder klaxons rang, was the silvered hilt of the lightsaber he had made while studying with the Monks. The flowing Aurebesh characters traced out what had become his name, his identity, his very center of being. The Aing-Tii had taught him to forget his reservations and denials, to assume a different outlook on morality and the Force.

Reaching out, he flipped a transponder on the command console, keying up a general distress wave. Any in the area of his instructors from the Aing-Tii would receive the message that was sent out. Particularly, those just in general monitoring traffic might pick up the signal, strange as it might be coming from the amalgamated ship he floated in. A dirtied hand, streaked with drying blood, fell to the cold decking of the craft as his consciousness tried to fade and fail. He croaked out two words before the comm-unit fell from his grip, clattering to the decking. It wouldn't make much sense unless the receiver were particularly curious, or knew of the Aing-Tii.

"Glavo Pahro"

The message echoed, and his shipped drifted just a shorts ways out from Demonsgate.

Ghorua the Shark, plated in matte-black durasteel, his bandolier of goodies around his waist, loomed over his fellow Paladins in the dropship. The Herglic was probably the biggest sentient most of these men had ever seen. Ghorua had genetic modifications to thank for that. The ten-foot-tall monstrosity had to duck to avoid bumping his head on the top of the ship whenever it jostled. Which was a lot.

"Hauum," Ghorua huffed, his helmet clanking against the ship for the umpteenth time. "Are we there yet?" The Shark chuckled, his deep bass voice resonating in the comms of the men around him, provoking a few nervous laughs from his comrades. He was in the same dropship as [member="The Banshee"], looking between his new associates with respect. These men were willing to die for a cause they didn't believe in. That takes courage. And perhaps credits too. Lots of credits.

Ghorua knew the basis of the plan. Hijack the Defense Matrix of the planet. How they would go about doing that, Ghorua didn't know. He was no tech guru. He was here to slash, shoot, stab, and bludgeon. Perhaps lead a few men. Perhaps his job was to simply make a big boom. He didn't necessarily care. He was doing his job, and he was doing it with like-minded people. What more could a Herglic ask for?

It seemed like only yesterday, Cas was drinking at the Cantina in her old neighborhood. Well. Actually it was more like 4 days, but those few days passed by like a blur. Mostly because she was still dealing with the consequences of daring to impersonate a Mandalorian- the galaxy's reputedly greatest warriors! what was she thinking? The armor was not the greatest fit, but they certainly didn't have her size in the armory either, and 4 days was not enough for a custom job. She'd have to make do.

It seemed "Kreiga the Mandalorian" was going into battle, just another mission like any other. Cas was absolutely thrilled. Thrilled meaning terrified. This was a battle? She wasn't a Mando, she was a runner. She avoided fights. She rechecked her life support and jump pack for the fifth time. Yes, they were fully charged up. Her explosives dispenser full of demo-charges, her belt lined with grenades. She had lots of ammo for the blaster carbine and the pistols. Still, she could... avoid a fight if she had to mess with computers. Yeah, that's right. That could work. That's why out of the Paladin team she brought engineering and networking tools. A proficiency with computers made her the designated specialist for the mission. The Fixer.

Cas snapped out of it. She realized what kind of idiot she must have looked like, standing there, staring at the floor of the dropship carrying them. She didn't heed any of her companions yet, not even knowing their names, not to mention what their species were called... like [member='Ghorua the Shark'], some oversized fish face. She felt slightly nauseous from motion- she'd never been on a space ship before, let alone one performing a combat drop. Sure she had her speeder back home but... by the Force, she'd totally look bad if she heaved up her breakfast all over [member='Ghorua the Shark']'s feet right now.

She looked around and wondered if anyone was staring at her, wondering whose piercing gaze could see through her facade.

Sanya Val Lerium

Neutral, Queen of Her people, Neko
Location: phrik mining and settlement complex (demonsgate)
Objective: defend the civilians
Allies: Non of as yet
Enemy's: attacking organization (yet to be determined icly)
Gear: Npc: Maria

Defenses on the complex:
X16 Blaze Railgun (on top of the building shouldn't effect those on the ground but air will have problems)
Shield generator (can walk through it)

Alarms rang through the complex with the owner of the place on the speaker. "All civilians make your way to the evacuation transports. I repeat all civilians make your way to the evacuation transports." He spoke into the microphone. Reports of ships forming a blockade on one of the routes was coming through separate com's. Although these civilians would make it safe. Luckily Sanya had privet routes from her time in the black rose she used. Sure there was more jumping in and out of hyperspace but safety was the main priority.

Walking into the command room she looked around for the man. He stood there bent over the terminal. Sweat covered his brow and panik written across his face. "DAMN IT, DAMN IT, DAMN IT." He shouted smacking his hand against the side of the terminal. Sanya slowly approached the man with her head tilted down. "I'm sorry I couldn't help more than what I can. I have sent word out to sekalus so be prepared for refugees. As for phrik here I've issued the people I have here to load as much as they can onto my ship. Its up to you what is done with it. The best solution would be sell it off. That way you have something to go off. Ill try hardest to have a proper setelment built for you soon as I can. But even with the resources I have I'm limited." She said. Sanya felt sympathetic for them. She wouldn't understand truly how this all must feel. For many this is the second time they had to be relocated. The first time from an active volcano pooling their vilage in magma. Now this. They needed a brake but people had no consideration for others well being.

The man would let out a sigh and the sides of his jaw would push out showing he was gripping his teeth together. "You have done all you could and I thank you." He turned to look at Sanya and put his hand on her shoulder. "You have already done a lot for theses people and no one will forget that." Static would come through the com's. "Sir the transports are full we can't fit anymore on." The voice said. He spun back around to the terminal and pushed a talk button. "Isn't there any way to push anymore on?" He asked. "No sir we are already over capacity it's crammed." "Right." His finger would lift off the button. "Miss swift may I ask one more favor of you?" He asked. Sanya would simply nod. "Anything you need." She said in reply. "Can you make sure my daughter makes it out of here safely and looked after? I will remain here and reassure those who are stuck here. We have a few blasters and some if us will have to keep defenses running till the ships make it out of here."

"Of course I can." She could feel it. The pain of someones heart just turning to dust. It was familiar of that pain one she had long forgotten years ago. "Ill be last to leave but she will be safe in my ship till then." In honest it hurt her to see someone like this. "Thank you. I will go say my goodbyes." He walked off through the door to Sanya's left. She saw the glimpse of his daughter. Her eyes already filled with tears. The door soon shut after but it didn't stop the sound of crying breaching through.

"Maria with me." Sanya said. Her voice seemed empty, lifeless. She began to make her way through the complex to the front entrance. Her eyes would gaze upon the reds, browns, whites and yellows of the area around her. It was hard to ignore explosions off in the distance and ships flying over head. Many if them looked as if they where built for war. One by one the defenses would begun to pick off any hostile ships. To clear a way for the first transport and escorts. Hopefully they would make it out in one piece.

"Restocking fee my green backside," BB said looking over his ships modifications.

After he paid all those hard earned credits they said it wouldn't fit, and in its' stock configuration they were right. But two new astromechs, some busted knuckles, some sweat, and a lot of cursing from T7-S8E it was crammed it. BB just hoped when push came to shove iy would work. Nothing like a field test he thought as The Shining Starr flew through the void towards their target in the demonsgate system. Looking over his retrofitted engine room one more time his nodded to the astromechs running it as he left. Captaining makes you hungry he though as he decided to hit the galley for a snack. Before he could get there GE3 his trusty old protocol droid intercepted him with news.

"Sir we have received a strange signal."GE3 said.

"Strange?" BB asked.

"It appears to be a distress signal, though the message is a dialect I do not recognize." GE3 continued.

After thinking long and hard, which for BB was a few minutes he decided to divert from demonsgate to investigate this new signal. After all they were a rescue cutter, however the ship he came upon was nothing like he had ever seen before. The ship looked organic, well kind of like Mon Calmari with smooth rounded lines but it also had strange spines sticking out and just looked... weird.

"Glavo Pahro" the signal just kept repeating. It was eerie to BB but something told him he should investigate further. Having T7-S8E pull the Starr in close he fitted his armor before heading out the ventral hatch and using the Force cylinder projectors to link up with the alien ship and gain access. BB had ordered everyone else to remain behind as he traveled through the alien ship only wanting to risk his own life on this mission.

The ship interior was dark, quiet, and BB felt as if he was in a living thing it was dying. Shaking off the feelings he headed deeper into the ship and found one occupant in the bridge. A human, which came as a surprise to BB, lay passed out at the controls. Bruised and bloodied his life signs were weak but steady enough for BB to gather him and his effects to transport back to the Starr.

Placing him into a bacta tank immediately he wonder who this stranger was as he floated in the translucent fluid. Only time would tell as even as powerful Bacta was as a healing agent, from the look of the strangers wounds it may take some time for him to come around.

Draco's ships reverted to realspace. Here they had just a little bit of work to see to in order to prepare Shintel as an overwatch system. The corvette that was travelling with the cruisers of the element drifted ahead of them and dropped a series of mines just outside the system. It was far enough out that they wouldn't likely be noticed or spotted by incoming or outgoing ships, most of those reverted to real space far deeper into a star system, and very few, if any transit ships bothered moving this far out before making hyperspace jumps. The corvette expelled the little dots that spread out quickly and made their way further from the system, spreading out several light seconds apart. They didn't need to be close together like normal mines. No, these were for something completely different.

The ships began pulling towards the last set of jumps, ready to leave with the transmitter hidden away floating in deep space, the watchers deployed, it was time to go. Draco was laying down on his bed in his quarters, tired. Rather exhausted from his exercise the past sixteen hours. Without full use of the Force the Mandalorian had resolved to undergo a very rigorous, if not torturous exercise routine under heavy gravity, against saber wielding droids, and with stun probes buzzing around. He wasn't as good as he wanted, but he could tell he was getting denser, stronger. With the Force coming back to him, his abilities reflected his focus, though he was still aware of his other, previous powers, some of them were lost to him. Others were weaker without all the hate and fear to call upon and strengthen himself.

His comlink buzzed and he checked it quietly with a yawn. It was Faith, and the realization made his heart leap, excited to hear from his love and grateful that she had made it to Aldera. All he had wanted to do was pull her off Togoria when he heard she was on the planet. Feth the Sith, feth the Republic, feth their war. He needed her, and nothing else. But, he hadn't been the one that got her. All he had known for certain was that she was safe.

It was sappy and cutesy, but he was hoping that perhaps she would calm and diffuse a little on the trip if he kept up cute messages. He wasn't really prepared to see her really angry. The short glimpses he had seen so far were, adorable for the most part, but very fiery and the Mandalorian couldn't bear to have her so angry with him.

“You need to allow your instincts to flow through you.” Newka, the small alien that Kira had picked up before departing towards Demonsgate said with a slow exhale of breath as it sat, cross-legged atop of a crate in the main quarters of the Falcon. “Do not put attention into your physical being, allow your mind to expand around the ship, touching the minds of any it contacts.”
Kira was also sat cross-legged on the floor with her eyes closed, her hands idly resting on her knees with the look of someone frustrated with the present situation sculpted across her face.
“Quieten your mind.”
It would be quiet if the damn thing stopped talking every three seconds.
“Let your body accept it naturally.”
Accept what exactly? Credits? Credits would be nice.
“Your not concentrating.”
Shut up already.
“I heard that.”
What?!
Kira suddenly had the cold sensation of liquid pouring over her head, causing her to open her eyes and quickly stand up from her seat on the floor.
A slow chortling laugh from behind her made her turn to the hairy mass that was Charwook, the wookiee sworn to service to Newka and by extension now herself. “Did you just…”
“No he did not.” Newka remained sat, it’s big eyes taking in the form of Kira who stood with water slowly seeping into her travelling clothes. “I did. You were not concentrating.”
“No offence but this whole thing is starting to get old.” She slid off her jacket and gave the alien a stern look. At first the information had been too much to handle so she had just gone along with it. A two thousand year old Jedi, a wookiee family sworn to the protection of him and finally his own pledge to find the last remaining heir of a destined Jedi family thought gone extinct.
It was the stuff of legends and right now Kira just wanted it to be over with.
“Patience Kira. In time your brash nature will come to serve you well, just don’t let it consume you. That is the path to the Dark Side of the Force.” Newka stopped and twisted his head slightly. “Your training is over for today. We are approaching our destination.” As if on que the proximity alarm sounded from the Falcon’s systems. Demonsgate was close.
“Come on furball.” Kira said to the Wookie, whose life debt had moved from Newka to herself with the apparent discovery of her extended bloodline. It was both an annoyance and a blessing really, he was after all a fantastic mechanic and co-pilot. Funny that with the history of the ship her own co-pilot would end up being hairy as well.

The Falcon pulled itself out of Hyperspace and plunged deep into the empty blackness of the space around Demonsgate.
The planet itself was a dark grey ball of light, clouds of gasses and chemical release making up much of its atmosphere creating a rather daunting image.
“I feel cold.” Kira said to herself, not really thinking.
“Yes, that planet. Touched by the dark side, a stain it will unfortunately hold forever.” Newka entered the cockpit causing Kira to forget all about the fact she was angry at him. “Despite the lies of those who did the crimes any who come here can see through the facade that was the Black Rose.”
“Well then, we know why we are here then.” Kira shrugged. “Send a message of to the Underground, let them know we have entered the territory. Charlie,” She referred to the wookiee with his new nickname, “Make sure those shields are up, I have a bad feeling about this place.”

The starship D'Lessio decanted from a blisteringly quick hypertrip, and the Kathol Rift's pressure faded from Jorus' mind. Tangible relief flooded the bridge.

"Captain," said the Arcona behind him, "we're receiving a distress call from an unusual ship."

"The Shining Starr is moving to assist," noted the Trandoshan sensor operator.

"Good man, Bantam," said Jorus to himself. "What else do we have on comms intercepts?"

"The...Millennium Falcon?"

"Captain Vaal made it. Excellent. What about the planet?"

The Arcona and the Trandoshan shared a glance. "Mass evacuation of the Black Rose phrik mining community. Civilians, mostly."

"Well, time to let them know who we are. Give me a broadcast transmission, the whole Demonsgate system." At the Arcona's nod, Jorus cleared his throat. The quick little ship had decanted near the planet, a few hundred kilometres above the Black Rose phrik mine.

"Your attention please. This is General Jorus Merrill of the Underground and the Jedi Order." The Underground had been monitoring this space for years, and Demonsgate had received frequent visitors, so sources of information were numerous. "It's come to our attention that the organization calling itself the Black Rose assaulted this planet with Sithspawn and forcibly alchemized many of its inhabitants, twisting them with the Dark Side of the Force. We are here to protect the survivors and kick the Black Rose out of the Kathol Outback. The Underground controls several major choke points between here and Kal'Shebbol; any serious reinforcements from the Black Rose will take around four months to get here. I want to meet with the local Black Rose leader personally, to negotiate your unconditional surrender. Any ships leaving the surface will be disabled and inspected for Black Rose personnel."

Finally he looked up and nodded as they came out of hyperspace at the edge of the system his violet eyes flicking as he looked around a bit. The Krayt-class cruiser floated steadily into the system as the young man activated the com system. "This is Miles to any Underground forces in the area. We are here to assist with the liberation of this system from the Black Rose. Requesting permission to proceed with two ships farther into the system." He goes silent as the ship slows to cruising speed moving slowly forward as he waits to find out if he would be shot at or allowed into the system farther.

Rekha once more ran over the check of the Midnight Star couldn't be too careful about overloads and fuel consumption. The freighter, though fast was now hauling troops and their gear to Uukaablis to set up ground protection.

It had been some time since she had come out like this, once everyone she knew was gone she just didn't know what to do with herself. Starting over again was becoming a primary way of life, one that while exciting could wear the nerves out.

They would be arriving at their destination in an hour, "Make sure everyone is ready won't be long now and I know how you all like to make an entrance" She smiled.

Make an entrance said the woman who once wore red feathers just to glean a little information from a station.

Mon Loup.

She had not thought of that name in some time, or her time as a slave to a Hutt just to get the transponders for a single sith ship for Coren. Where was he now? Ok, yes she missed him. But life is a series of meetings and partings and that is the way of it.

Hopefully this place had a good cantina, bar, watering hole whatever the term she felt the need for a little encouragement.

She looked down at the message, yes he was trying to be funny trying to deter her from being angry and sometimes it worked but what had happened with Togoria they had to discuss.

Faith stood there silent. Decisions were coming, and quickly.

Faith took the datapad and looked down, "Feth. The Republic has lost Togoria, but the Rebellion on Denon has met with success. Miles was a man whom Sin had respected for a very long time, when Romeo had saw a message from the man, asking a favor...of some kind. So now here he was, following the man in hyperspace, in his Star Destroyer, the Ryuk. When those stretched lights became stars, and planets once again, he wasn't sure whom he was looking at. Aedan, though, confirmed what he had suspected. This was the Black Roses, and the Underground...this was going to be a problem on his part.

"Aedan....I don't think....this was a good idea. Celty, mark targets on my battle-view...I have a bad feeling about this..."

The Fleet reverted, all except the corvette, busy with its own mission, above the Pembric system floating in mid system. "Have the Warden get us full scans of the system and planet. We are going to be intedicting this system so I need to know what I'm dealing with. Have the Underground reported any Black Rose forces deeper in the Sector?"

The communications officer fumbled around, "No Commander. And we took the fastest route. Any new ships have to come through this system in order to move further into the sector." That was good news. No one had out run them, no one had responded to the growing Underground presence yet. Hopefully his strike force would congeal some before anyone moved a fleet through the Shintel system. But, he would know, well in advance if anyone moved through it bringing a fleet. In fact he would have days notice to any ships leaving the Shintel system moving towards Pembric. He would even know if they had decided to take the direct route or the scenic route through Tanquilla Beach. And, his transmitters would be able to tell about how fast they were travelling.

Now the corvette was deploying what was left of its mines, giving the fleet an early warning system for approaching vessels. Nothing serious, just thirty seconds, coming from either the direct or the scenic route. The little mines could even tell him about where the vessels would move through. In coordination with the Warden-class, it was unlikely anyone would be sneaking into Pembric. Normally it was a lot harder to give this much info for the mines, but with only two hyperlanes that had to cross through they system, it was easy. As easy as sitting on the system.

Draco's comlink buzzed again.

Well, that was good. She wasn't so mad, she was still saying 'I love you' which meant she was more serious than angry. Better circumstances for him, but would likely lead to a very serious conversation he would need to be careful through.

"Keep working on interdicting the planet. Full scans, Nebula cannon anything suspicious on the sensor board to be sure. Have the Cabur's drop remote activated Pulsemass Mines at the key positions as soon as possible. Once we have the entry sealed, we will work on securing the back. I have to respond to this."
