PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Carpet Bomber: Designated as a Superheavy Bomber, the Starhammer aims to meet those standards; twelve individual LS4 Cavalier flex tube launchers allow for the massive storage and delivery of payload; the Starhammer is configured to carry even more ordnance outside of the flex tube's storage space, meaning that each superheavy bomber can drop a massive payload on whatever ship, enemy, and location.
  • Long-Range Tactics: With an inbuilt hyperdrive, the Starhammer has a wide range of action; feasibly, a squadron could attack intergalactic targets without any support ships to ferry them from star system to system. This allows for a wide range of possibilities, from providing reinforcement as quick aerial strikes to ordering attacks on targets where one's own space superiority has not been established.
  • Starfighter Defenses: Given that the Starhammer is an ungainly vessel, the bomber features six total defensive turrets; three on the dorsal and three on the ventral sides of the ship. Each turret is armed with two RMC-M6 laser cannons, able weapons designed to act as deterrents and defenses against starfighters that would try their chances to pick off the otherwise hapless bomber.
WEAKNESSES
  • Point-Defenses: With its slow movement speed and large size, the Starhammer presents itself as an easy target for different point defense systems. Although the ship is protected by a sturdy hull and shield systems, inept pilots still have the chance of providing themselves as easy prey for point defense systems.
  • Dogfighting: Poor maneuverability and speed cement the Starhammer in the bomber role; although it is outfitted with multiple forward-facing laser cannons, the practicality of such weapons is extremely minimal, and the Starhammer should attempt to engage with other starfighters only as a last result.
DESCRIPTION
Throughout the years of galactic military history, the concept of a heavy bomber has been an interesting one. During different periods, ideas such as heavy bombers were well-developed, with multiple models playing vital roles in various battles planetside and among the stars. However, during different times and now, the spotlight has shone more on multi-role starfighters well-equipped to perform a variety of tasks well-enough that specialized fighter roles would simply not be needed. However, with the introduction of the RMS-BC11 Starhammer-class Superheavy Bomber, Roble Manufacturing intends to change that previously-held assumption and reintroduce the concept of heavy bombers into the world of galactic war.

Lacking the maneuverability and speed of most starfighters, the Starhammer is larger than most starfighters, bombers, and even civilian ships such as light freighters; its wingspan of fifty meters and length of twenty-seven meters makes for an impressively-sized ship, almost more akin to a small corvette than a true starfighter. It's size and poor speeds serve as detriments of the superheavy bomber, as the Starhammer presents an easier target for point-defense systems than faster, smaller and lighter starfighters that surround it. Enemy starfighters, too, will find the superheavy bomber unable to easily avoid barrages of laser fire, and if crewed by an inept pair of pilots and gunners the bomber will likely be in flames before it reaches the drop zone.

However, what the Starhammer lacks for in speed and maneuverability, it more than makes up for it with its terrifying and impressive armaments and defenses. Designated as a superheavy bomber, the Starhammer is designed to carry a payload large enough to flatten a city, with a powerful display of heavy proton torpedos, heavy-ion bombs and heavy incendiary explosives that round out its ordnance arsenal. Twelve LS4 Cavalier Flex Tube Launchers serve as payload delivers, allowing for massive amounts of ordnance to be deployed in a matter of seconds, enough to potentially cripple ships as large as Star Destroyers. The precise tonnage, and what ordnance can be outfitted on the ship, is variable, although typically most models carry a mix of the aforementioned ordnance from Roble Manufacturing. In addition, the advanced targeting systems of the Starhammer allow for payloads to be dropped from high-altitude, even low-orbit in the case of a planetary engagement. This distance is recommended to be reduced somewhat during zero-gravity engagements, mostly due to the practical sense that a longer range could be led to bombs being accidentally 'intercepted' by intermingling forces. The Starhammer is also outfitted with forward-facing laser cannons designed for starfighter combat, but those are more for emergency and show than true practicality.

To fend off the inevitable hordes of hungry starfighters and point-defense systems, the Starhammer features a wide range of defenses that can be employed to prevent the ship from being downed by enemy fire. An MRS-02 Jotun defensive system provides ample shielding, with the ability to soak up enemy fire without damage to hull integrity or internal parts. The most obvious defense is the Starhammer's six total defensive turrets; three on the dorsal and three on the ventral sides of the ship, with each featuring firelinked RMC-M6 laser cannons and each manned by an individual gunner. The turrets serve as ample defenses against starfighters, able to act as a deterrent and source of retribution for any fighter that wishes to try its luck against the superheavy bomber. The turrets combined cover nearly any possible angle of attack, ensuring that the bomber features no 'blind spots' in which an enemy could attack without fear of being shot down itself. However, these turrets do little good against point-defense systems, and for those, the Starhammer employs a different tactic; an MXC-T19 Ark Sensor Scrambler, designed to project out signals that fool tracking devices and sensor systems into thinking there are more ships then there actually are. In a sense, the scrambler is the opposite of a true stealth device and scrambler, but in conditions with poor visuals or against automated systems, the chance of point defenses being fixed toward ghost signals greatly decreases the chance of the actual bomber being shutdown.

Altogether, the RMS-BC11 Starhammer-class Superheavy Bomber is an extremely capable and powerful ship, with a devastating payload and multitude of defensive measures to ensure that the bomber remains flying. Ensured to be a vital part of any future military campaign it participates in, even going so far as to play a vital role, the Starhammer is a new class of ship meant to usher in a new era of intergalactic warfare.
