Once destroyed by the foul machinations of the ancient First Order, Hosnian Prime found itself reborn through the benevolent graces of the Yuuzhan Vong - who sought to rebuild the Galaxy after their defeat at the hands of the Galactic Alliance. The Planet and its surrounding moon’s restoration was a marvel that left the Galaxy of that era astounded. Who would’ve thought that these extra-galactic invaders would’ve been capable of rebuilding planets? What a time that must’ve been, to see entire Solar Systems given new life and to have been crafted by mortal hands. Despite History’s perchance to repeat itself, the Hosnian System thankfully remained unmolested for years - until the Plague threatened to snuff out the light of civilization across the stars themselves.
And so, as the banners that claimed the Hosnian System changed from one government to the next, the Planet and it’s many moons relished an uncanny period of peace - despite the Galaxy tearing itself apart. That peaceful era didn’t change when the Republic returned to the system and began establishing trade with the local populace. However, there is one thing that breeds in the shadows of a peaceful civilization. Complacency. Stagnation. The unwillingness to change or evolve due to the comfortable setting they currently reside in.
It was abhorrent.
Not only to the Sith - who sought to embody the darker side of sapient life but to the Gamorrean peoples as well. They believed that War would be their guiding star - forever driving them towards their pre-ordained purpose amongst the nothingness of the void. But, the Galaxy was cruel to the Gamorrean people. It left them mentally stunted and unable to grasp the stars they so desperately wished to conquer. They became slaves and enforcers for the Hutts, instead, and forced to survive by doing the bidding of the unworthy. No more. They were smart now and were capable of taking to the stars.
There was plenty of junk that littered the stars around their homeworld and plenty of space rocks too. So, it was their genius idea to combine both of them. The waste that littered their homeworld wasn’t good enough to be considered spaceworthy, and living on asteroids was something that the Gamorrean people weren’t used too. Thus, with their newly formed ‘big brains,’ they combined them both to create something worthy of spaceflight. With their creation and subsequent departure from the Gamorr sector, these vessels would be the first time that the native population of that system set out into the stars of their own accord.
And what, pray-tell, would be their first course of action be?
They would reave, and they would raid every Planet and starship that proverbially stood in their path. But, what made things difficult for the Gamorrean Reavers was that their Hyperdrive was made from cobbled together parts and malfunctioned, often. Every time they spooled up and activated their drives - it would throw them into the depths of that alternate dimension and spit them out somewhere else… much farther away than they anticipated. When they last activated their drives - it brought them to the interstellar shores of the Hosnian System. Nearly three massive cruisers, rife with battle-hardened Gamorreans, set sail towards the primary world within the sector with Conquest as their solitary goal.
It was doubtless that the Republic’s early-warning detection grid was alerted to the presence of these ugly warships, but what remained unknown - was the response that’d be rallied to engage this newfound threat.
