STRENGTHS

• Extremely high limbstrength: KX Droids were and are known to be able to toss around living beings with ease, kicking through solid durasteel doors and shattering duracrete with a few punches. The ZMDIII-KXU possesses these same attributes do to the design's similarity to the original designs and the update of the main blueprints.
• Evolving intellect: The greatest danger the old KX series posed was its ability to go beyond their normal programming and become truly sentient and thus independant. While the ATHENA AI system does allow for a much higher cognitive function compared to standard droid brain implementations, at its core it is still not a fully sentient entity due to a much more secure internal coding, which allows for evolution but stifles any erosion of the internal parameters that make up the subservient status of the brain towards the droid's direct superiors.
• Unparralelled Hand to hand capabilities: In combination with its limb strength, the KXU droids have been updated with the best and most used military martial arts in the galaxy, with a greater understanding on how to suppress and detain with or without excessive violence, the discretion of which is usually up to the superior of these droids, though the basic programming will go for the more violent approach due to the logic of it being more effective when suppressing opposition.

WEAKNESSES

• Lesser Core strength: In order to maintain the weight and balance of the KXU droid within the parameters of the original design, the core of these droids is much less heavy and thus much more succeptible to damage from heavy blaster fire and heavy melee weapons in comparison to the rugged and tough limbs, which have been made heavier.
• Still not flawless: Even with the higher amount of protocols and the different sort of droid brain/AI compared to the original, these KXU still can have the propensity to go rogue when either damaged enough or corrupted through slicing.
• Coding prevents heavy weaponry: To avoid too much internal competition, the KXU series is coded in such a way that these droids are more or less incapable of operating heavy weaponry or machinery, relying on melee weaponry, hand to hand and the occasional sidearm to perform their duties adequately.

DESCRIPTION
Originally designed and constructed by Arakyd Industries for the Galactic Empire of old, the N&Z Umbrella Corporation saw some benefit in repurposing, updating and upgrading the original blueprints of the KX-series security droids to more modern standards. While the engineers and the designers that worked on this new/old program were busy trying to translate new materials and gadgets into the old designs, the company managed to also search and find a few original KX droids, which was a rare and unusual thing for the company to do. In order to test the new droids, they were being compared to the old models in a series of tests ranging from hostage security to salvaging operations, at which point the originals where deemed to still be superior.

This wasn't a good thing for the N&Z, who in their desperation exchanged the standard ZEUS droidbrain for an ATHENA DCOS core, trying to increase the overall mental capacity and coding of their version and rerunning the tests afterwards, which happened to be a success. To avoid canibalizing the sales of their own designs, the KX-series was still named as a ZMDIII model, but would lack the overall balance most ZMD's had and in exchange would be adjusted to be the perfect fit for their role to police and protect, but not to be on the same level as the newest Mars or Arbalesk models.
