The moment Taiia chose to eat, Allyson had her head in the fridge, grabbing various ingredients. Vegetables and meats covered the countertop, and Allyson looked to Taiia as she brought her mess of brown hair into a loose bun.
"My bloodstripes?" She questioned, surprised. Almost everyone in the galaxy knew what the Corellian bloodstripes were. In most cases, only because Corellians that earned them never really shut up about them. Every Corellian was born with a streak of pride broader and longer than the known universe.
Even though she figured Taiia was just giving her the open the door to talk about herself, Allyson smiled. Hands tied around the cloth apron, then they were washed, fully prepared to make breakfast.
"Well, they're Corellian Bloodstripes. From my knowledge, there are only two ranks. First Class and Second Class. The Second class is gold, while the First Class is red." As she explained, her hands moved over each ingredient, cutting, dicing, trimming each into perfect cuts. Her mother's training was entirely on display as nothing went to waste.
"The bloodstripes are typically awarded for bravery - but," her smile grew wider. "It's given for bravery and courage after deliberation. Corellians believe that anyone can be brave in the heat of the moment - adrenaline and all. But - real courage, real bravery comes from knowing what the consequences were and still doing the right thing. Despite knowing how much it would hurt or that you could possibly lose your life."
Ingredients found their way into a hot pan, tossed and mixed with just a flick of the wrist from the woman.
"They could be awarded for any number of reasons, but typically they were given in regards to having courage under fire." Butter and salt, with an assortment of herbs, found their way tossed into the flaming pan.
"I have both; I earned the second class while I was fourteen. It was during the recovery missions after Corellian was nearly broken in half during the netherworld event." Allyson's smile faded slightly without her knowing. It had taken her parents from her, and everything she knew was gone in a blink of an eye.
"I crawled through a collapsed pipeline to reach people that were trapped under some wreckage in Coronet City. The pipe was crushed but was wide enough for well a 14-year-old girl to crawl through. I got everyone out, living and the dead. The pipe nearly collapsed on me several times, but I kept going in and pulling people out." Allyson shrugged; she didn't want to think about it too much, despite almost 20 years ago.
"I also have the first class," her head nodded towards the stripes running down both sides of her legs.
"Got it during the First Order war, evacuated, err well helped evacuate all living personnel First Order or not off of a space station, uh then tried to steal it, didn't work so I blew it up. The lame thing was, I had to be on it to do so. It was rigged up to interfere with anything I could do distance so -" she raised her hands and made an explosion noise with her mouth.
"Blew myself to kingdom come. Uh, I was eighteen at the time, I think." She laughed, but she lost more than her memory that day. Allyson lost Kaili and their memories; at the end of it all, even when she regained her memories, Kaili was gone.
"But yeah, so while not recognized by other military and governments, we're allowed to display them. First-class is typically only rewarded post-humorously. I'm like one of a handful that has received them as a survivor in the history of Corellia. Kind of cool." She finished cooking the eggs and then carefully slid Taiia's stuffed omelet onto a plate. Garnished with fresh herbs, she placed the breakfast in front of the woman.
"There ya go, as for my cooking, if you keep me around, you'll get more of it, I promise. Mom owned a diner, so cooking is kind of my thing." Allyson smirked and leaned on the counter. She cut a piece of the omelet and brought the fork and a bite in front of Taiia's mouth,
"Try it and tell me how amazing I am."
