- City Name: Miazaki Village
- Classification: Rural Town
- Location: Shri-Tal
- Affiliation: Atrisian Commonwealth
- Population: Moderate (Approx. 4000 permanent residents)
- Demographics:
- 95% Human (Atrisian)
- 5% Other
- Wealth: Medium. The village is not wealthy in credits, but it enjoys a high quality of life. Wealth is derived from sustainable agriculture, artisan crafts, and tourism from pilgrims and Jedi seeking the tranquility of the area. There is little poverty, as the community supports its own.
- Stability: High. Under the benevolent oversight of the Atrisian Commonwealth and Junko, the village is peaceful and safe. Crime is virtually nonexistent, consisting of minor disputes handled by the village council and the resident militia. Outsellers are welcomed, provided they respect the local customs and peace.
- Freedom & Oppression: The atmosphere is one of relaxed freedom and communal responsibility. The Atrisian Commonwealth provide guidance and protection rather than oppressive rule. Laws are simple and focused on community harmony. The only notable restrictions are a strict ban on carrying weapons within the village proper (especially on the Palace Steps) and regulations to protect the pristine natural environment. The ruling philosophy is one of stewardship, not domination.
- Description: Nestled in a high mountain valley and built along the banks of a crystal-clear river, Maizuki Village is a picture of serene harmony. The air carries the scent of pine, damp earth, and blooming wisteria. The architecture is a seamless blend of traditional Atrisian design sloped roofs, wooden frames, and paper lanterns and modern, modular Sasori construction, allowing for efficient, comfortable living without sacrificing aesthetic beauty. Rice paddies and terraced vegetable gardens cascade down the sunnier slopes, while the sound of the river and the chime of wind bells are a constant, calming backdrop. The village is not just a home, but a living testament to the Atrisian Commonwealth ideal of coexisting with nature.
- The Palace Steps: A breathtaking, thousand-step staircase carved into the mountainside, leading from the village archway to the Maizuki Palace above. Meticulously maintained by cleaning droids, it is both a physical and spiritual journey. Two members of the village militia are permanently stationed at the bottom arch, ensuring all who ascend do so peacefully and without arms. It is a common sight to see Jedi and pilgrims meditating on the steps at sunrise.
- Lady Wisteria's Tea House and Baths: The social and cultural heart of the village. This elegant establishment, draped in its namesake purple flowers, is more than a business; it's a sanctuary. Owned by a savvy former adventurer, it offers traditional Atrisian tea ceremonies, therapeutic massages, and natural hot spring baths. The owner's private security discreetly enforces a strict "no conflict" rule, making it a neutral ground where farmers, Jedi, and travelers can relax in absolute safety.
- The Riverside Fields & Market: The economic engine of Maizuki. Here, the villagers tend to their plots, growing unique mountain grains, herbs, and raising docile livestock. A weekly open-air market is held here, where residents trade and sell their produce, handmade crafts, and Sasori-upcycled goods to merchants from larger settlements. The market is a vibrant, bustling affair that contrasts with the village's usual tranquility.
- Security Rating: Medium The village's security is a layered approach focused on deterrence and community vigilance:
- Maizuki Militia: A volunteer force of about 20 villagers, trained in basic firearms and hand-to-hand combat. They patrol the village perimeter and serve as the first responders to any trouble.
- Sasori Defensive Systems: The modular buildings are more resilient than they appear, with reinforced frames and basic secure locking systems.
- Planetary Defense Force: As part of Atrisian Commonwealth space, the planet Shri-Ta is protected by the broader Atrisian Commonwealth Defense Force. In a serious crisis, patrol ships would respond.
- Jedi Presence: The proximity to the Atrisian Commonwealth Temple and the presence of Jedi in the village or the Palace above serve as the ultimate deterrent. While not a standing garrison, their potential for rapid intervention is well-known.
- Palace Step Security: The weapon ban at the base of the steps is strictly enforced, protecting the ascent to Junko's home.
Maizuki Village's history is a tale of abandonment and renewal. Centuries ago, it was a thriving farming community that relied on trade with a deeper forest settlement. When that neighboring village mysteriously vanished, trade routes collapsed, and over generations, Maizuki was slowly reclaimed by the wilds of Shri-Ta, leaving only stone foundations and stories.
Its modern era began when the Atrisian Commonwealth Order established its temple on Shri-Ta and began a program of planetary stewardship. Junko, drawn to the serene beauty of the mountains, discovered the ruins of the old village and the ideal site for her palace above it. With backing from Sasori, a massive reconstruction project was launched.
Using Sasori's modular technology disguised within traditional Atrisian frames, the village was rebuilt from the ground up. Junko invited families many of Atrisian descent longing for a connection to their heritage to settle there, promising a life of peace and purpose. They came not as serfs, but as partners, building a community that would both support the Palace and flourish in its own right.
To bolster morale and create a center for community life, Lady Wisteria's was established, quickly becoming a beloved institution. The village militia was formed to ensure the people could defend their new home, embodying the Atrisian Commonwealth principle of self-reliance.
Today, Maizuki Village is a symbol of the Atrisian Commonwealth's successful outreach. It stands not as a forgotten relic, but as a vibrant, self-sustaining community that honors the past while embracing the future, supplying the Atrisian Commonwealth and other worlds with its high-quality agricultural goods and serving as a haven of peace in a galaxy of chaos.
