OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Mekhisian Nexu
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Nar Shaddaa
  • Average Lifespan: 60 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: A cybernetic mutation of the ferocious felines of Cholganna known as the nexu, these creatures, plated in a bloody-hued metal with exposed cybernetic sinew of a glowing green, are designed to be even more fearsome than their original forms with their claws and teeth viciously enhanced. The original spines have exploded in number, while the tail of the creature have developed metallic stingers that drip with ichor and corruption. The eyes of the creature, a menacing glowing green now, have become the focus of rumors on Nar Shaddaa of new predators emerging from the depths of the planet.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Due to their metallic/cybernetic nature, they do not require an atmosphere to survive.
  • Average Height of Adults: 1 meter
  • Average Length of Adults: 4.5 meters
  • Skin color: Blood-red with acid green highlights
  • Hair color: No hair
  • Distinctions: The most distinctive physical features of the creature are its many spines that have sprouted across its body, its long whip-like tails, and the several pairs of eyes that are a known trait of the original creatures. Common to the Mekhisian line of technobeasts, the claws, spines, and teeth of the creature drip with an ichor that contains the nanospores that transformed the creature in the first place.
  • Races: No other races
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
  • The cybernetic transformation of the nexu's eyes has not only preserved their ability to see in the normal visible spectrum and infrared, but has also resulted in their ability to switch their second set of eyes to see through ultraviolet and x-ray spectrums. This ability has allowed them to better track prey and victims through walls and other structures, always ensuring the creature knows where their target is.
  • The claws, spines, and teeth of the creature, already vicious and able to cut a human being near in half, have been further enhanced through their metallic mutation and Sith alchemy to have the ability to slice through many armors and metals. Each claw, spine, and tooth also drip with the infectious mutagen that created the creatures and flows through their bodies, making them capable of passing along their metallic transformation to others.
  • The metallic transformation of their bodies has done nothing to hinder the speed and reflexes of the creatures, as their hides are considerably more light weight than they appear. Their ability to climb was determined to be a necessity for the alchemists that mutated the original specimens.
  • A new ability of the creatures is to spew a mildly acidic black liquid from their mouths at victims or prey. The acid is just potent enough to cause skin irritation, but its purpose is to spread the nanospore mutagen contained within the liquid to victims for possible transformation into technobeasts themselves.
Weaknesses:
  • While their eyes have been significantly enhanced through the cybernetic mutations caused by the nanospore, they have also become more susceptible to flash-bangs and other sudden sources of extremely bright light. The nexu will become paralyzed in pain for several minutes if subjected to a flash-bang for example as the overload of its visual circuits causes a feedback loop.
  • The light weight plating of the creature, while designed to keep its agility, does mean the creature maintains its inability to not take much punishment from a victim that defends itself. Strikes of sufficient force can stun the creature, and while the armor does provide some protection from weapons, it is no different than the creature's original hide in that regard.
  • Extreme applications of heat, such as from a plasma weapon or sustained flames from a flamethrower can cause severe damage to the nexu and dull their claws, teeth, and spines. The flames can also temporarily remove any ichor built up along the edges of the appendages.
  • A Jedi healing trance, Force Light, or applications of heat can halt the progress of the nanospores contained within the ichor, stopping the possible transformation into a technobeast by a victim of the creatures.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Due to their metallic/cybernetic nature, the nexu does not require sustenance to function. However, it will still follow its previous carnivore predilections, but any meat consumed in this way is altered into more of the mutagen coursing through its body.
  • Communication: Metallic-sounding roars and a complex pattern of running their spikes against a surface to alert others of its kind. They also can understand and follow commands spoken through the Sith language or given through mechu-deru.
  • Technology level: No technology level
  • Religion/Beliefs: No religion or belief system
  • General behavior:
    • Mekhisian nexu are pack hunters and ambushers, typically working in small packs of three or four. The environment of the undercity of Nar Shaddaa means the creatures have a number of locations and vantage points they can use to track potential prey and victims, moving from place to place until the pack has determined the prey is in the optimal place to attack them at. Their ferocious nature, what made the original specimens such prizes for arena venues, remains intact as they will viciously tear and bite any creatures they are hunting or directed towards by their masters. This behavior, while it does result in more fatalities than necessary, has given rise to a growing fear among the undercity residents of metallic hunters stalking through the streets and pedwalks.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

As a continuation of the experiments being performed by the Cybergene alchemists of the Order of Arcane Syn on non-sentient creatures before moving onto full sentient tests, requests were made to procure specimens of the feline nexu from Cholganna and other worlds where the creatures are found. Once the specimens were captured by the beastmasters of their order, the alchemists proceeded to subject the poor felines to the Gitaxias nanospore they had developed.

The skin of the creatures became a blood-red light weight metal with enough flexibility to keep the creatures' natural agility and reflexes, although this did trade-off any protections they might have gained from their new metallic skin. The number of spines was greatly increased and their teeth and claws were further enhanced to gain serrated edges that could tear through metal and stone, all to better possibly infect victims with the mutative nanospores. The creatures' eyes were further changed through the cybernetic alterations to give them even more spectrums they can see the world through, adding the ability to see in the ultraviolet spectrum and to access an x-ray vision to see through walls.

A further enhancement was guided by mechu-deru and Sith alchemy to create a cybernetic reservoir where the creatures' stomachs used to be of a mildly acidic liquid that could contain more of the mutagenic nanospores and could be spewed out by the creatures in a concentrated stream or left as small puddles for unsuspecting victims. Once satisfied, a select number of small packs were released into the Nar Shaddaa undercity for observation and to act as hunter packs for potential sentient specimens.
