- Gitaxias Nanospores cause a subject's body and cells to rapidly transform into a new version of the Sithspawn creations known as technobeasts. Utilizing advances in nanotechnology, cybernetics, Sith alchemy, and bioengineering, these nanospores are highly adaptable in the transformations they can cause and can be influenced in certain directions based upon the physiology of the subject and the application of mechu-deru by a Sith Metatect alchemist. Baseline transformations that occur in all subjects include:
- Durable metallic-like skin formed from a flexible and strong resin
- Facsimile metallic organs and bodily fluids
- Loyalty towards the Sith and more sadistic personality traits, even among subjects that have not been fully transformed.
- The nanospores mutate a subject into a highly adaptable and powerful technobeast Sithspawn.
- Time from infection to a full transformation can vary depending on the level of exposure to the nanospores, typically falling within thirty minutes to an hour for a concentrated exposure to several days for minimal exposure, but this process can be accelerated with repeated exposure. However, any physical mutations that occur are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to reverse once the subject has reached a critical threshold of infection. Psychological mutations can be reversed before a full transformation, but once that occurs, the original subject's mind and personality are generally replaced.
- A Force User trained in mechu-deru, Art of the Small, or is an extremely skilled healer can keep the infection at bay, halt, or even reverse the progression of the nanospores as long as the mutations have not reached critical threshold.
- As with any nanospore, applications of extreme heat can curtail burn out the infection before it reaches a critical threshold. In addition, certain chemicals such as those introduced into a subject from an orbalisk parasite, can burn out the nanospores if they are applied within minutes of initial exposure.
Over the past few years and decades, the Sith alchemists and artificers of the Order of Arcane Syn under Hyson Whita have continued to study the technovirus known as nanogene spores that create the Sithspawn technobeasts. Operating out of the Leviathan Deep Project development laboratory on Nar Shaddaa, in close partnership with the cyberneticists and droid engineers under the Anomid Doctor Votoc, the creation team had focused on expanding and enhancing their previous work in creating the Talos Seeds and the Dyson Technobeast.
Those creations, while a significant enhancement over the original technobeast of Belia Darzu's era, were only suited for espionage and assassination missions. Whita and Votoc desired to create something that could be the basis for a whole series of technobeasts, something that could be molded and adapted that would suit the needs of their mistress and the wider Sith cause. A next generation nanogene seed droid would be required that could create and alter the subject's body while a more virulent infection vector could accelerate the changes.
The result was the Gitaxias Nanospore. The seed of the nanospore would be stored within an alchemized version of the Iskalloni mutagen used to make their slaves adaptable to their cybernetics and environment, with the black serum also acting as both the infection vector and replacing the bodily fluids of a subject. The nanogene seed droid, once spread through the body by the mutagen, could then repurpose and alter the subject along either its base programming or at the explicit direction of a mechu-deru user that could command the seeds.
