In her youth, Maiven was afforded a life of affluence that came with her birth into the aristocratic house of Nuruodo. But, like many distant relatives of the Aristocra, she wasn't destined to lead her house or be anything but a tool for a political marriage. As soon as she was old enough, at 16, she left her family to join the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force, in order to prove her worth to her family. Already showing an aptitude for weapons and physical activity in her primary education, she quickly became a star cadet at her military academy. Through her loyalty to the Chiss and her ability to instill both fear and inspiration in her fellow cadets, she graduated after only 2 years. With her record, she was selected to serve in a priority fleet dedicated to fighting pirates along the Path of Houses, the Ascendancy's major hyperlane.
Her superiors during this time noticed her affinity for espionage tactics, and the efficiency which she executed them against pirate ships. 4 years serving with the anti-piracy fleet, she was given the honour of becoming one of the Ascendancy's few intergalactic operatives, a nice way of saying spy, as a reward for her talents. The Ascendancy's inward-oriented policies mean that spies are limited, and their job mainly consists of identifying possible threats to the Chiss state. Along with this new position, however, she was offered an officer's commission. It would would be the first major roadblock in her career, as becoming a CEDF officer meant the renunciation of her house, and full devotion to the military. Despite proving to herself to house Nuruodo being her life-long goal, she hesitantly accepted the commission after much pressure from her commanding officers. She would not speak to her family again until the Chiss Rebellion.
A year of officer training, and Maiven and her squad were let loose into the galaxy to serve as the eyes and ears of the Chiss people outside of the Unknown Regions.

Shortly after a tour of duty around the galaxy, the Chiss Ascendancy erupted into chaos. A rebellion against the Chiss Aristocra of old had begun, and with her duty to the military, she was forced to side against her family, who resisted the change which the rebellion brought. Rallying other members of the Nuruodo family who were loyal to the new regime, she secured the existence of her house, though they unfortunately they lost their status as Aristocra of the military. Without her official house ties, there was little she could do to help their rebuilding before she was called to service by the Sith Empire.
The CEDF rallied to the call of their allies against the New Imperial Order at the battles of Muunilist and Mygeeto. Maiven oversaw a platoon of volunteer soldiers at the battle of Harnaidan on Muunilist, where her skills as a leader were pushed to the test. Despite months of preparation with the Sith Legion, the stress of her first major battle eventually cracked her spirit. When Muunilist was occupied, her platoon was transferred to fight on a different front, in the war against the Mandalorians. Coming to the see the Sith Empire for what it truly was, and seeing the needless death of her people in their service, she defected to the Zweihander Union. She hoped that they would bring the much needed security and order to the Unknown Regions like the Chiss had always desired, and free her people from the hands of the Sith...

Maiven is a physically fit woman of above average height for both Humans and Chiss, with the characteristic blue skin and red eyes of her people. Her hair, like most Chiss, is black, and cut to mid-neck length. She rarely has time to style it due to her line of work, and mostly keeps her face concealed by her helmet.

Strengths and Weaknesses
- Tolerant: Most Chiss are extremely xenophobic. Maiven is an exception to the stereotype. Although still a staunch Chiss nationalist, she has a deep respect for many other races (most notably warrior races like Mandalorians) and a great interest in foreign languages. This has led her to be an excellent operative outside of Chiss space.
- Weapons Protege: Training from a young age in weapons and an being exceptionally fast learner as well has led Maiven on the path to becoming a weapons expert, although she is still young and learning.
- Bold: Maiven is often unfearing, some even say unfeeling, in the face of adversity. Charging into situations unprepared with no warning, caution, or remorse is commonly reported of her in the field.
- Narcissism: Constant commendation throughout her life has left Maiven a major narcissist. Defying Maiven's command in any form has been widely noted as a bad idea, because in her mind she is always the most skilled in the room and, of course, always right. This has led her to be very socially combative.
- Disinhibition: On the opposite side of her boldness, Maiven's frequent lack of impulse control has gotten her into many sticky situations both socially and militarily.
