DESCRIPTION
With one niche of the Galactic Foreign Legion's rifle squads filled the armorers began to look at the other niches and decided that the squads automatic riflemen would be the next niche to receive a new weapon. They once again followed their process of conducting interviews first to gain the opinions of the Legionnaires before beginning the design and testing phase.

They began the interviews just like before by asking the Legionnaires to speak candidly about the weapon they were currently using, the LMG-01, and any issues or problems they had encountered previously. One of the biggest complainants that the Legionnaires had about the LMG-01 was the weight of the weapon, as even though they extremely physically fit they found themselves struggling with the weight of both the weapon and its corresponding ammo.

With this in mind the main goal of the armorers in the Legion was to design a weapon light than the LMG-01. The development would take a few weeks of tinkering and testing before two penultimate designs. The first was simply a lightened variant of the LMG-01 but when this was tested by the Legionnaires they still found the weapon a bit too heavy for their needs. The second design was a rather interesting one which involved mating the lower receiver of an LCAR Mk I to the upper receiver of an LMG-01, with some modifications to make it function smoothly.

When this prototype was given out for testing to the Legionnaires they practically fell in love with it. It was significantly lighter than the LMG-01 and the added ability to be able to feed from both belts and magazines made squad logistics that much simpler. With the basic design worked out the armorers began working on polishing it to operate even more effectively.

The first thing was to see which materials would be the best for the weapon and for the most part they stayed the same except for the barrel which was replaced with Dallorian Alloy for its better heat resistance to avoid overheating during prolonged firing. The next step was adding or modifying features for the weapon. Like all the weapons the armorers built they incorporated completely reversible controls, even adding in the ability to reserve the feed tray so belts can be fed from the left or right side depending on the users dominant hand.

A heavy duty butt pad was added to the stock to help mitigate the felt recoil of the weapon. The weapon's biggest feature was the dual feed system the weapon incorporates, allowing to feed from either linked belts or standard rifle magazines. An adjustable gas system allows for better cycling of the weapons action no matter the environment. The same advanced recoil buffer system used on the LSDMR-01, modified of course to better suit the weapon. Spare parts storage wad added in case of any breakage in the field.
