DESCRIPTION

As the Stygian Campaign ended in failure, the Galactic City Authority, the governing body of Coruscant, recognized the potential threat that the Alliance's withdrawal invited. With Coruscant having been sacked time and again, the time had come to see a reinvigoration of the Coruscant Guard, and the Home Defence Fleet. While both institutions existed, in some form or another, they lacked the funding and manpower that was needed to make them a credible fighting force. In many respects, these brave Coruscanti were simply a glorified Security Force that maintained Law and Order in the Outer System edges. But, with the right approvals and Senatorial support, the Galactic City Authority sought to change what such a time-honoured organization had become - bringing both iterations of the CorGuard and the Home Defence Fleet back to their militant roots.

Thus, the GCA turned to the Republic Engineering Corporation to commission a new line of warships for the Coruscanti Defence Force. They needed something that would make them stand apart from their cousins in the Galactic Alliance - rather than repatriating their own warships with what amounted to their own hard-earned Credits. And so, the Shipwright eagerly threw themselves at the drawing board - seeking to not only make their vessels visually distinct, but play upon that believed nostalgia factor many within the Alliance were fond of. That proverbial quest led them to the ancient BT-7 Thunderclap from the first Great Galactic War. While Rendili in origin, the intent and concept of that ancient vessel fit the operational parametres that the CorGuard utilized.

Smaller, and elite units that struck hard; making ten fighting men and women feel like a hundred.

What would come to be known as the Intrepid - Class Assault Corvette not only bore a striking resemblance to the vessel it was once based on, but far surpassed the Thunderclap in terms of technological prowess as well. A millennia of technological advancement and miniaturization saw such improvements become reality, especially when they were coupled with several technologies that were thought to be lost in the Dark Ages. Outfitted with one of the most advanced Artificial Intelligence suites that were unavailable on the market, the Intrepid - Class was essentially a wholly automated Starship; capable of amazing feats with and without their Organic crews.

With every system connected to a central Intelligence, all that remained to detail about this new warship was the advanced, and complex methods in which the Assault ship was able to board other vessels with relative ease. While Field Disruptors were best utilized against conventional ray shielding, those devices had troubles pushing through particle shields. So, such devices wouldn’t be as effective as they were intended to be, when pitted against standard particle shielding. Naturally, those capabilities varied on starship that the Field Disruptor was installed on, as larger ships produced a more powerful field - making it nearly impossible to slip through their shields.

As such unpredictability wouldn’t serve the CorGuard or the Home Defence Fleet’s needs, the Coruscanti Shipwright needed a new method in which to breach through an enemy’s defensive barrier. These methods came in the form of T-33 plasma torpedoes and Proton Charges, all of which were designed to breach a starship's ray and particle shields, respectively. With both aspects combined, the Intrepid - Class was capable of punching a small hole in a larger vessel’s deflector shield and getting within boarding range - allowing the Assault ship to deposit their armed passengers with ease. To ensure that the Intrepid was capable of cutting through the armoured hulls of many warships, the Assault ship was outfitted with an advanced boarding module that could adapt it’s cutting strength to match their target’s hull integrity.

With the Intrepid - Class in hand, the CorGuard and the Home Defence Fleet would become a potent military force within the Coruscant system - rather than the inept Security Force it already was.

Once again a fantastic looking app~

Your technical specs look balanced and your links all seem fine. Thanks for pointing out that its an alt account. That helped a lot.

Your advantages seem well described and balanced out with practical weaknesses.

Pending Approval
