GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Kallus Security Centre, Bastion
  • Domain:
  • Notable Assets:
    • Security Sector(s): Keeping a presence on deep-space and orbital space stations is vital to enforce border and customs security. The Imperial Security Force commissions the construction of "security sectors" on-board orbital habitats which are enclosed and sport their own life support and ventilation systems independent from civil parts of the station and can be physically sealed off with an eighteen-inch bulkhead double door reinforced with kinetic restraints and a ray shielded barrier.
    • Security Station(s): The Imperial Security Force maintains a significant number of terrestrial full-time security stations, characterised by brutalist architecture and high-security, which typically include tall, thick Ferrocrete walls, Durasteel gates, ray shield projectors, and underground parking for staff airspeeders where appropriate and closed-circuit surveillance systems.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
Hierarchy: As distinct from the Imperial Security Bureau, another law enforcement organisation, Security Officers of the Imperial Security Force adopt more traditional Imperial Army ranks with equivalent military pay grades for seamless integration. However, the ranks' roles reflect the organisation's law enforcement training and mission.

Climate: As a military organisation with a civil policing jurisdiction, there is broadly a high sense of esprit de corps and motivation in the ranks of the Imperial Security Force. There is a professional association that represents the security officers with the government concerning industrial and workplace agreements, a luxury not afforded to the Imperial Military's other branches, and this creates a level of tension between the Security Forces and the other departments as Imperial Security Officers receive special entitlements in allowances, salaries and generous leave. That said, The Imperial Security Force's role as civil law enforcement leaves many in its' ranks to become complacent, and their military skills often erode or perish without deployments into low-intensity conflicts or peacekeeping operations. Fortunately, this is rarely an issue outside of niche specialist units such as Rural Patrol in the contemporary galaxy.

All Security Officers must serve an initial tenure in the Security Enforcement Unit, responsible for community response and policing. Unfortunately, after being promoted to a specialist, many security officers leave this unit for specialist commands. The workload is substantially reduced by not having to respond to calls of service. Within the Imperial Security Force, this creates a level of animosity from the Security Enforcement Unit to the specialist units or officers in specialist roles who are perceived to receive the lion's share of resources. Security Enforcement unit officers often derisively refer to specialist officers outside of the tactical units who are highly respected as "Chardonnay sippers and cake eaters". The sentiment is ironic, as the regular military personnel often have this perception about all Imperial Security Officers.

Imperial Security Force officers are generally gregarious. Non-Commissioned Officers refer to each other by first name or an endearing nickname. Their commissioned officers are unique among military personnel. The only way to earn a commission in the Imperial Security Force is to progress through competitive examination processes through each successive rank. This creates an environment where competent, socially prudent, and politically shrewd officers progress where others are generally denied opportunities at promotion. Unfortunately, a side-effect of this process of selecting and promoting non-commissioned officers into commissioned officers creates an inherently conservative culture that is resistant to internal organisational change where the senior hierarchy is noticeably comprised of the aged. Given the morally corrosive nature of policing, there exists an extended support network. The Imperial Security Force provides its' employees with access to psychological counselling and encourages fitness with access to recreational facilities in partnership with private businesses.

Imperial Security Officers broadly acknowledge they receive some of the best entitlements of any public servants in the Imperial bureaucratic machine. However, the demand for their service is frequently growing with new colonies and the occupation of territories formerly loyal to the Sith Empire being annexed. Imperial Security Force Officers are provided with greater discretion and permitted to use their initiative for fulfilling their core mission. This is unprecedented in a military organisation permitting even their most junior members to make their own adjudications and decisions in investigations and how to proceed. This is an initiative to help build up a relationship with the communities the Imperial Security Force polices. There is a strong focus on intelligence-led policing in the organisation, leveraging the mass intelligence gathering of a police state to identify and target criminals with methodical precision proactively.

As its initial founding members were drawn directly from the military police branches of the different armed services, there is a synthesis of the Army the Navy's traditions. It has created its' own distinct identity where the members of the Imperial Security Force are proud of their distinction as "Security Officers" whose role it is to uphold and rule, maintain order and protect the lives of the good citizens of the empire who serve the state. There are no "enlisted" personnel in the Imperial Security Force. The most basic sworn officer is classified as a "Non-Commissioned Officer" due to the legal responsibilities and powers they wield as sworn law enforcement officers.

Reputation: Imperial Security Force is viewed rightly or wrongly by citizens with a mixture of admiration, respect and fear depending on one's own upbringing and demographics. They have a reputation for being the Imperial Security Apparatus' public face on the streets of occupied worlds under the central government's control. They have a reputation among the populace as "Soldiers" rather than "Police Officers". However, the two terms are used interchangeably to describe Imperial Security Force officers, malcontents and those who live in society's underground or off-the-grid generally refer to them as the former. Imperial Security Force Officers are often derided as "Pigs", "Fascists", or "Authoritarians" by those opposed to a government authority or with concerns regarding the erosion of civil liberties. The religious community distrusts the Imperial Security Force for their state-sanctioned persecution of the Sith. It is widely perceived as a restriction of freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Among the Imperial Security Bureau Agents, the Imperial Security Force is perceived as the portfolio to approach if Agents require some "muscle". This results in them being seen as the soldiers responsible for making citizens suspected of committing offences disappear.

Imperial Security Force Officers are feared and respected in equal amounts. One of their number staring in the direction of a citizen is generally enough to raise feelings of anxiety and irrational fear that they have committed an offence. Imperial Security Force Officers are typically considered more educated and knowledgable thanks to their tertiary level education. They're often regarded by themselves and other military personnel as representing some of the more cunning and intelligent soldiers at the cost of being less physically robust., there are jokes about the physical strength of security officers as they are not subjected to rigorous physical training in the same manner as the other service branches. Imperial Security Force Officers are reputed for their harsh and severe treatment of violent criminals, beating those who violently resist or hinder them in the execution of their duties with stun batons, a practice allegedly known as "Towelling Up", which refers to the bandaging up of bruising and fractures incurred by the method. Patrol officers have access to marksman rifles and repeating plasma weapons known to cut down armed offenders. Because of their widespread use of aerial Gunships and fast air-speeders, The Imperial Security Force's mean response time to urgent jobs is reputed as being less than five minutes from the time of broadcast to officers in metropolitan areas.

Curios:
  • Letter of Warrant: Imperial Security Officers in the WO1 and CWO2 pay grades receive a "letter of warrant" from an Assistant Deputy Director or above authorising them to discharge special powers such as approving legally binding orders applied for by Non-Commissioned Officers and entitling them to additional privileges, including a dramatic pay increase and elevated military authority.
  • Operational Dress: The general operational dress of the Imperial Security Bureau is a "Patrol" variant of the Thrawn Pattern line of the Mark IX Katarn Multipurpose Body Armour, which features an active protection system in the form of a deflector shield to protect its' officers from ranged weapons and ambushes. Imperial Security Officers are also personally issued blaster rifles, stun batons, binders and chemical munitions to subdue multiple targets.
  • Operating Number: Each Imperial Security Force Officer is provided with an Operating Number that also serves as their "Warrant Number", the number corresponding to the document number of their warrant card. Imperial Security Force operating numbers are formatted as AA-####-##.
  • Sillitoe Tartan: Heavily influenced culturally by the customs and culture of law enforcement from Galidraan, the Imperial Security Force has adopted a brilliant white and charcoal black Sillitoe Tartan design as a core part of their brand and iconography. The Sillitoe tartan band appears on the Imperial Security Force's vehicles and some of their uniforms.
  • Warrant Badge: All Imperial Security Force Officers are issued a Titanium warrant badge of the organisation's insignia stamped with "Imperial Security Force" along the outermost crimson ring. The Badge is also stamped with the first and surname of the holder, along with their Imperial Security Force operating number.
  • Warrant Card: The warrant card features a digital photograph of the holder, their first and last name, a statement that identifies them as an officer of the Imperial Security Force signed and endorsed by the director of the Imperial Security Force. It is laser-etched with the words "Imperial Security Force". The warrant card is a digital security document registered with Imperial Security Force's database and enables access to facilities appropriate for its' security clearance level.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Imperial Security Force is a Military organisation that serves as a Gendarmerie; a military unit with civil and military police jurisdiction force organised as an independent military branch under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence but is operationally managed in its' civil policing duties by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Imperial Security Force, or "Imp Sec" as it is informally known, was founded in 863 ABY after the untimely demise of Irveric Tavlar, as the result of centrists within the Imperial Assembly consolidate and expand the executive government's control over the expanding territory of the New Imperial Order and provide quality policing service to the citizens of occupied territories liberated from the Sith Empire while also fulfilling the dual purpose of ensuring Internal Security and neutralising growing insurgencies without the negative perceptions of martial law and use of military force.

Absorbing the role and responsibility of civil and military police, the Imperial Security Force's initial ranks were filled by the personnel who variously served their respective armed services their respective armed service's different military policing branches. Initially, interservice rivalry played into the politics of the Imperial Security Force although, sufficient time passed roughly twelve months after its' inception. The Imperial Security Force resembled a cohesive organisation with high morale and a clear, defined mission. The Imperial Security Force began a relationship with the Imperial Academy to deliver a civilian tertiary-level education to its' members. Toward the end of 863 ABY, the Imperial Security Force adopted a policy where commissioned officers would be promoted exclusively from warrant officers.

A policy of excluding direct-entry commissioned officers has encouraged technical and subject matter experts for career progression. It means that every commissioned officer of the Imperial Security Force has hands-on Operational Experience with low-intensity conflicts and community policing work. This feature has left the Imperial Security Force as distinct and unique among the branches of the Imperial Military, with their commissioned officers being regarded and respected broadly for their experience and developing a reputation as gritty technical experts. During the Imperial Civil War, the Imperial Security Force was responsible for suppressing and neutralising Sith insurgencies on occupied worlds and enforcing legislation that criminalised worship of the Sith-Emperor and adherence to its' ideology. After victory in the Imperial Civil War and the subsequent lifting of martial law in most jurisdictions. The Imperial Security Force continued to maintain order and provide police services throughout the Imperial domain. However, on occupied worlds, many citizens still perceive them to be the obvious face of an occupying force and planned terrorist attacks are frequently detected and disrupted.

I see! The trouble is that, unless you make a post in the thread stating that the submission is ready for judgement, or use the "Ready For Judgement" prefix, there is no way for codex staff to know that you have made your edits. We are not automatically alerted when you edit a post, and we don't scan threads for changelogs just in case they might have been updated without notifying us.

Please include a list of changes and don't forget to tag Codex Staff when you're ready, or, you can use the "Ready for Judgement" Pre-Fix.

Broadly, your edits look good. However, per the codex template, all images must be linked under Image Credit in the Out of Character Information section. Please list all of your image sources in that section, along with which image they correspond to. It should be a quick fix, since you currently have them linked next to each image. Once that is done, I will re-approve this.
