  • Targeting System: This weapon incorporates a sophisticated Predictive Targeting computer and rangefinder.
  • Ion Compatible: The Buzzard has loaded both dual Ion and Standard Isotope 5a batteries for quick swapping between firing modes.
  • Phrik B Plating: The weapon is plated in Phrik armour in order to protect itself from incoming attacks.
  • Ion Shielded: The HC-65 is shielded against direct Ion assault due to its integration of Ionite Laminate.
  • Highly Modular: Buzzard weapon systems boast several modular connection points for attachments, Power Cell Loading systems, replacement optics, systems etc.
  • EM Rails: The weapon turns on electromagnetic rails for incredibly rapid swiveling.
  • External Ports: This weapon has universal ports which allow it to be linked to the power sources of vehicles or turrets.
  • Class Scaleable: The weapon can be upsized to a weapon used on larger ships or vehicles.
STRENGTHS:
  • High Ex: The Buzzard weapon system employs a hydraulic pressure system as it cycles its ammunition, densely packing vast sums of Tibana Gas as it's super-heated into a vaporous plasma sealed within an electromagnetic shell that's fired at high speeds. The tightly packed canister moments after impact fractures allowing it to penetrate before rapidly expanding into a violent reaction which rivals that of thermal detonator tipped ballistic missile weapons. Whether it be thermal or Ion, the Buzzards two stage detonation is a tool for hitting wide areas for intense damage which seeks to consume those within it.
  • Plasma Fallout: The thermal rounds from this weapon are known to create hot clouds of super-heated plasma which can linger burning enemies and threatening the structural integrity of armour. In Oxygen rich environments the heat from the blasts are also capable of igniting the atmosphere, creating a secondary less intense thermal blast radius around the initial explosion. While in its ion configuration these clouds of plasma linger like an isolated electrical storm interfering with systems like chaff.
  • Reactive Shielding: The Buzzard is capable of creating a six layer one way ballistic shield from the CROSS system installed into the weapon. The shield is capable of projecting itself in a bubble around the unit due to its access to a larger power supply, this adds some additional defense to critical weapons systems on ships which also have their own shields. These shields also tend to be substantially stronger and repair faster when the weapon is employed in a defensive battery connected to its own dedicated power-source.
  • Hybrid Power Supply: The HV-65 loads both an Ion and a Isotope 5a battery into its systems simultaneously, allowing for even more rapid switching between the power supplies with little more than the flip of a switch within the vehicle or system. The Ion blasts are non-lethal to organics should they receive medical attention and are highly effective against shields or droids while the microwave charged thermal maser rounds carry considerable Thermal and kinetic force.
  • Jacked: The Raptor is an integrated mounted weapon that can be used as a mounted defense turret, a turret of an armoured vehicle, integrated into a heavy fighter, bomber or freighter's weapon systems or as a smaller weapon on a larger vehicle. They can come in stand alone configurations or can be twin-linked for even greater offensive output, additionally a Phrik-B ballistic shield can be added at the owners' whim for some models.
  • Belt Loaded: The HC-120 employs an internal hydraulic system which compresses Tibana gas in a cyclic chamber loaded system. When integrated into a stationary platform this system allows only the Tibana gas to need to be loaded into its tanks rather than requiring the ammunition to be loaded into the firing mechanism like other railguns
  • Low Power Drain: The HC-120 uses pressure to supplement the requirement of generating extreme heats on their own. The conjunction and charging each shot proving to be a far more efficient method than simply flooding its blaster gas chamber with energy allowing this weapons energy footprint to be rather low.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Ray Shields: While this weapon is capable of dealing considerable damage to shields on impact, due to its nature as an explosive weapon, simply impacting the edge of a shield, regardless of its strength reduces the damage of the Buzzards' rounds significantly as the target may only be hit by the following explosion and fallout.
  • Counter Strike: While the rounds within the HC-120 are charged individually as they are loaded as a safety mechanism, should the Phrik B armoured loading belt be hit while the weapon is prepping and firing rounds the system could explode violently, creating a cloud of plasma fallout around itself which could harm its users.
  • Overheat: With the massive amounts of pressurized energy pooling through this weapons' barrel when it fires they can cause the rifling to overheat with frequent use within atmospheres causing barrel warp. Continuous fire within atmospheric conditions without giving some time between shots can damage the system, potentially causing backfire issues.
  • Rate of Fire: Even within its weapon class, it certainly dangles towards the bottom end of an average firing rate for a weapon in its class. Its fundamentally a cannon and is far from rapid fire meaning it finds it hard to capitalize on fleeting moments of weakness that it can't cause itself.
  • Ion Prone: While the internal weapon systems of the HC-120 are protected from taking damage via Ion Surge, ion blasts will disable the CROSS shield which protects it rapidly leaving it exposed to a direct attack.
DESCRIPTION:

Hoping to revolutionize the cannons of armoured vehicles and ships, this weapon is a scale-able cannon which can be employed on anything from medium armoured speeder-tanks, fighter craft, military class freighters and even up to destroyer class ships in twin linked batteries. The weapon was designed to be a heavy cannon option for the purpose of destroying structures as well as everything within them. Initial tests proved the weapon extremely effective at assaulting garrisons from long range the weapon was tested defensively, simulations with droid armies proved the defensive and supplementary effects of the weapon extremely useful in being able to control the tide of a battle when being attacked by forces in large numbers. In combination with supplementary weapon systems, the Buzzard was proven to be able to significantly slow the march of attackers with its plasmic fallout allowing other weapons to capitalize greatly on its environmental alterations.

The weapon operates by employing cyclical chambers which trap and pressurize large sums of Tibana Gas, then heating it into its plasmic and volatile form, the energized Tibana gas, wanting to expand finds itself trapped in a highly volatile almost liquid form before being fired within an electromagnetic capsule which is launched by EM rails much like that of a Verpine railgun. When the highly concentrated shell hits, surface tensions allows the high speed projectile some degree of penetration with its super-heated chassis before fracturing, its internal payload detonating violently on impact as the liquid Tibana rapidly expands, reverting itself to its gaseous form which lingers on the battlefield eating away at metals and structures with heats capable of melting stone over time. The Buzzard additionally employs dual Ion power sources to charge its blasts with an Ionic EM field in place of densely packed thermal energy, creating instead of a protoplasmic cloud, something akin to a localized ionic storm for some lingering moments which interferes with and hinders electronics, droids and other robotics in the area.

Supporting systems within the HC-120 Buzzard include the ability to integrate into a personal HUD or Vehicle display showing ammunition, potential overheat, target acquisition linked through the eagle eye system integrated with the system as well as a rangefinder, High quality EM rails for quick swivel speeds, Isotope 5a reactors which further reduce the energy burden on the vessel the cannon is integrated into and more. All of which are built with common ports allowing them to be removed or upgraded at a whim. The dual Ion and Standard batteries allowing quick changed in ammunition types are a common feature among House Aquila weapons allowing versatility between ships and vehicles.

Finally, the universal ports allowing this weapon to be supported by a vast number of ships as well as stationary turret platforms makes it a supreme cannon for both offensive or defensive use.
