Hazmat Run [Republic Dominion of Drongar]

Dropping out of Hyperspace
Drongar System

Seated at the controls of his Eta-6A, Sarge watched as the blurred lines of hyperspace gave way to the solid pinpricks of distant stars as he and the fleet behind him dropped into the Drongar system. The last few weeks had been a blur for him, with fighting on Dac and Korriban, and then, ultimately, the fall of the Sith Empire.

It had come as a shock for many, but he imagined that the capture of the Emperor had something to do with it. Something as fragile as a Sith alliance could easily be broken when the person in charge was suddenly deposed. Fingers dancing across the controls, his sensors picked up the Republic fleet behind him.

A Watts cruiser served as the flagship, but the rest of the tiny fleet was mostly transports aside from a pair of Freedom-class assault frigates.

So far there were two objectives.

1. Clear the system of any hostiles and place early warning beacons near known hyperspace exit points.
2. Collect samples of Bota to see if there was a way to reverse the mutation. Hazmat Suits would be required while on planet.

Eyeing his sensors again, he detached himself from the hyperspace wing and feathered the engines to send his fighter further in system and towards the planet Drongar itself. "Keep an eye out for Sith and Pirates.", he warns over the comms.

Antares's ETA-6A dropped out of hyperspace falling in behind the Jedi Knight's ahead of him. It had taken a while to get to the planet and during some of the hyperspace jumps he had fallen asleep. It was quite easy for him to fall asleep and he was able to wake up at the slightest sound. Sometimes it backfired, but in this case there was nothing to worry about.

"I'll follow your lead, Master." He said once he checked the systems and made sure everything was functioning as best as they could. He moved the yoke around so that he was behind the Jedi Knight.

The Paramount D escaped Hyperspace just behind the Watts-class Cruiser Elemental. She was a Stalwart-class Heavy Cruiser and would be assisting in the patrol. Captain Roberts sat in the chair and hailed the Elemental,

"Elemental this is the Paramount D. Here to assist."

A Bothan male sat in the chair of the Watts-class Cruiser and gave a nod on-screen.

~ "Understood Paramount D. We'll take the planet. You take the patrol. See you on the other side. Let us know if you find anything scrappy out there. Elemental out." ~

Karen set the log and turned to her pilot,

"Power to engines. Running speed ahead. Bring us in a circle of the planet Lieutenant. Let's see who's out there. Fighter wing to stand-by."

She leaned back in her chair and let the patrol take it's course.

Saki

Came in like a wrecking maul
Saki was pacing on the watts cruiser, the idea of a biohazard suit some something she didn't fully enjoy and it meant she wouldn't be able to move enough if there was a fight. Something could attack them, but at least her saber would function that had to account for something and it did. Just not a lot in the grand scheme of things she was thinking about. Her breathing while putting on the suit something of an enjoyable moment that gave her a fear of tight spaces. Strange but it was also something she could use, fear was just you head saying your an idiot after all. "I'll head down to the planet and see what we can find."

"I'm not going to be able to shift in this thing if something happens..." she said softly, looking up from the pile of gear she'd been allotted. The transport was a hub of activity, with scientists and Jedi alike darting back and forth in preparation.

A frown marred the young woman's features for the briefest moment, before she shrugged. The task was at hand, and in spite of her reservations, she could not delay her preparations any longer. They were rapidly approaching Drongar, and she needed to be ready to go with the first wave of those off of the transport.

Fingers rapidly secured the kit she was responsible for hauling - one of considerable heft, she mused, given their discovery of her strength and stamina by accident not long before the mission was put together. The hazmat suit was soon zipped most of the way up, with her head and hands still free. She had a lightsaber, clipped to an exterior loop of fabric, and the IR-5 she'd claimed for her own out of the Armory during the gear-up for Korriban, in an exterior holster.

Mara glanced up, watching the nearby screen with interest as it depicted the fleet's movements and deployments in a veritable rainbow of colors and the proximity of the planet. They were close. It was only a matter of time, she mused.

"Just don't tell me we're going to bring back some new and exciting virus to the capital and this will be a good day." Ayumi looked at the one commander of the fleets. Karen Roberts was something to behold and she was going to make sure whatever was needed to secure the outer rim worlds was theirs to use. Resources allocated for a goal while they worked to setup early warning stations and areas. Let them know should the sith return, or pirates take up in the place. "I'll let the jedi head down they know how to hold their breath." She gave a weak smile to that and paced a little on the bridge of the ship.

The fall of the sith empire was something he had been looking forward to hearing about, it was a strange time but their glass jaw had been broken and everything taken away from them while the Republic moved forward. Some might call it a war machine but others a beast and some believed it would be coming for them next. There wasn't much they wanted or could say if he cared. The people would have to decide for themselves as time went on and come to their own conclusions. That he had listened to the same argument said over and over that the Republic shouldn't be fighting or the jedi leading troops into battle he just sighed. No one seemed to think that fighting people with powers and laser swords with people who could use powers and wield laser swords was a good idea unless they were the ones fighting. Or questioning why the chancellor chose instead of sitting around to go on the offensive and take a fight to the sith they were wanting, almost demanding be brought to them.

"Excuse me sir but this is a little to big." Quenladose looked at the soldier who was going through the procedures of the hazmat suits, she looked up while the flab of it coming but she was heading down to the planet. Her face frowning while he worked to try and make the adult sized suit fit on her. They even went and got a new suit that was slightly a child's size suit but it wasn't really as things went on. A smile though came when she put on the helmet and they sealed it. Wearing the backpack for the oxygen for breathing would prove difficult but she was determined to keep at it.

"Lets keep the sensors on full yes commander." With a look around the chancellor remained in the seat and continued to debate what was happening. There wasn't much here but sending down a team to study and try to reverse the mutation was one thing, the other was listening posts and early warning in case something ever arose. They needed to make sure it was all in readiness and the chancellor spoke. "Preacher whenever your ready you and the commander have the lead."

The alarm in his fighter started ringing before Karen's IFF pinged friendly and his fighter decided to stop having a seizure around him. Flicking through the comm channels, he opened a private one to @[member="Marakai Al'Orren"]. "Don't you dare shift on this Op. You'll die in minutes, and we have no hospitals set up down there to help you."

Sighing, he went back to his scanners which were, even now, trying to get a bead on anything planetside. "May the Force be with you, Mara." He adds, before cutting the channel and opening one with the Fleet (@[member="Karen Roberts"], @[member="Antares Windu"], @[member="Jack Harkness"]).

Rolling his fighter towards the planet, he feathered the engines to higher power now that the rest of the fleet was here. "Master Roberts, start scanning the planet, near the equator. My sensors think it's picked up something there, but they aren't strong enough to get a firm read."

Likely it was some kind of a research lab, but he couldn't be sure. He especially wasn't sure if it was pirate or Sith.

"Chancellor, I'll leave you in charge of putting down the beacons. Be careful though, pirates like to set up bases on moons."

"If there are pirates then I will stay here, be careful on the ground." The jedi master looked at a few of the others and remained courtious but he wasn't going to wear a suit that obscured several of his senses on a planet he didn't need to be on. He was looking forward to the sith showing up or better yet pirates it would mean he could clean up the pests and clean up this sector of space. It would be the best way to go about it and the strongest way to see what they can do, once the mandalorians got their section of space and the Fels theirs well the Republic would work on controlling the south east with the TIon and some major industrial sectors. "I'll protect the chancellor"

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Matsu stood on the ship when the hyperspace starlines ceased and the large Praxium ship created with one other went towards the planet. It wasn't armed but the large sphere was filled with jedi able and trained in the explorer corps more specifically the agricultural branch. They would know a good amount of what they could do as the time came to handle the problem. More importantly they had enough bio hazard suits to head down to the planet with the others while Matsu turned around to address a few. "Alright make sure you have all in readiness and be prepared. IT will be dangerous down there." The students gave a nod of their heads and she started walking towards the bridge station at the center of the ship.

Karen turned to smile at @[member="Ayumi Pallopides"],

"I'm sure the Jedi will take every precaution. The Force is just as sensitive to danger as this ship's sensors. They'll be fine, no doubt."

The arrival of a Praxium ship lead the Captain to raise a brow. Even more Jedi had arrived. Any pirate flotilla would think it mad to attack such a large escort of ships now. She hailed the Elemental,

"Elemental. We are getting requests from the Jedi for a detailed surface scan of the planet. Can you comply?"

~ "Understood Paramount D. We'll close to high orbit and get the Jedi the scans they need. You can leave the planet to us. ...How's the stars?" ~

"All quiet up here Captain. We'll keep looking and be in touch. Paramount D out."

Karen shifted in her chair to face her pilot,

"Lieutenant take us around back. Let's make this quick."

"Aye aye ma'am."

"Commander. Hail @[member="Sarge Potteiger"] and let him know the Elemental is at his disposal. They'll have the scans he needs asap."

"Understood Captain. Sending hail."

Karen relaxed in her seat and watched the CIC holo-projection with interest. The Jedi could handle an empty planet. She was hunting strays now.

His starfighter continued to follow @[member="Sarge Potteiger"]'s starfighter before he rotated the yoke and pressed it forward so that he started to move faster and then into the planet's atmosphere. It wasn't a race, but the faster that they got onto the planet, the sooner they could claim it for the Republic and aide those who needed it.

Once he broke the planet's atmosphere he started to make sure that his Hazmat suit was on him properly. And once he had come to the conclusion that it was he continued on his way to what he figured was a clearing on the planet.

Sarge got the hail alright and gave his head a brief nod to no one in particular, yanking the stick around he rocketed towards the Elemental at high speeds before pulling up alongside it and matching it's speed. He wasn't going to head planetside until such a time as he had scans, otherwise he was going to waste his time trying to find what was likely a small building on a large planet.

Opening an open frequency with the ship, he sent a brief message. "Thanks for the scans, Elemental. They'll go a long way to narrowing down our hunt."

Still... something was off.

Anatares.

"@[member="Antares Windu"] get out of that atmosphere. We don't know what's down there. Guide the transports in laying down the beacons for the moment until the scan is complete."

He pulled the yoke around and nodded his head to no in particular. He knew the Jedi Knight couldn't see him, but he did as muscle memory.

When he pulled his ship around, he fell into formation with the transport ships that the Knight had been speaking about. He supposed the Knight was right in his thinking. It would be up to the Republic Military to make them aware it seemed.

She wasn't sure whether the sensation in the pit of her stomach was annoyance or delight. It was leaning towards annoyance, at least a tiny bit, in spite of the concern she could hear in his voice. "Dammit, Sarge, you know I 'd never take that foolish a risk unless there was no other alternative. Besides...there's no guarantee that I can shift when I'm that encumbered." (@[member="Sarge Potteiger"]) Mara replied softly, keenly aware of the people swirling all around her.

"And with you." The young woman shook her head as she heard the tell-tale click of a cut comm line. But that was all the thought she could afford the moment. There was too much at stake to risk being distracted.

She gave a hand to a few of the others nearby, moving some crates of gear and testing equipment onto the hoversleds that would be their workhorses while on-planet. It wasn't long before all the preparations that could be made were done, and they were simply waiting for the go-ahead to begin landing protocols. Fingers secured her gloves in place, ensuring the seal around her wrists was at the proper level. Any little flaw or gap in the seals and it would be all over.

They'd done it, they'd won, the Empire was gone, but work continued. Weighed down by the heavy and bulky HAZOP gear that was standard GRA issue, not even ARCs good get anything better. Dish did his best not to complain, this helped him connect with his basic infantry brothers he supposed. "Why couldn't they have given us power armor or something? Probably would be easier to move." A private remarked, his voice sounding younger than the others, a fresh recruit, newest batch, a shiny. Kriffing term hadn't been used in centuries.

"Because budgets kid, they value getting the next batch into the field more than they do connivence, and paying for the training." Dish responded, sealing the clamps on his wrists and went for his helmet. The kid sighed and did the same, holding his rifle in one hand and pointing it at the ground, squinting as he looked down the barrel. "Put the gun down kid." Dish instructed pulling on the helmet and attaching the oxygen hose to his helmet.

"My name isn't kid, it's Lightning." The younger clone said proudly, which caused some of the older troops to chuckle, Dish included. Finishing up the closing of his seals, he looked to the private as his HUD came to life inside his helmet. "I think we'll call you Bug." He responded, patting the trooper on the shoulder and loading onto the gunship with his rifle slung over his shoulder.

Leori would be of no real use on the ship, or the ground. Instead, the Jedi Master opted to stay on the shuttle transporting those on the mission to collect samples. While normally, that would be something she could handle, there were no medical facilities here. The Jedi Master wanted to be available just in case someone was injured or infected by something on the planet. That was her specialty.

So on the shuttle, she waited.

"...Captain. Unknown ion signature on long range sensors. Showing a flight trail."

Karen spun in her chair to acknowledge,

"Understood. Helm close to thirty kilometers and get us an ID."

"Roger Captain. Closing at running speed to thirty kilometers."

Karen pressed the com on her arms rest and released on the onboard data-disc. Activating the holo with haste, she was curious what they would find. She enjoyed watching from the chair rather than the observation deck.

Closing to thirty kilometers the Paramount D began a circle strafe.

"Enemy IFF confirmed. Sith Assault Monitor. Guardian-Class Frigate. ...Ma'am, picking up three more ion signatures on long range sensors."

"Understood. Hail the enemy ship and close to fifteen kilometers at the run."

"Sending hail now. ...No response Captain. Enemy vessel is receiving."

"Send it again. Helm?"

"Twenty and closing Ma'am."

"...Negative Captain. Enemy ship is not responding."

"Captain? Enemy IFF is a code fake. She's running pirate colors in Sith space."

"Understood. Commander we are code Battle. Let's run her down."

"Aye aye Captain. Shields up. Engines to Sprint."

"Ma'am. Enemy boat is fleeing."

"...I see it. Helm, close to ten kilometers. Tactical, target engines and use forward tractor. ...Fire at will."

...

The Paramount D began the chase. The pirate frigate didn't stand a chance. However, the three mysterious ships on long range sensors where soon to notice the skirmish.
