BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
An effective and fast support ship, it is a new ship, built off of the effective and flexible Contributor-Class Hull with a few added weapons systems and an expanded hangar which are necessary for a ship which is bound to come somewhat closer to the frontlines than other support ships of its type. With these weapons and the added squadron of "Viper" Droid Starfighters the ship acts almost like an escort carrier, with forty-eight starfighters packed into its stern-facing hangar. But it is still not a warship. Its job is to seed large minefields in the company of its sisterships and to go back and perform maintenance on other minefields when it isn't making new ones. The genesis of this ship, again, comes from the Crossroads Republic's new emphasis on offensive capability, and the Gremlin, like its namesake, is meant to seed chaos in enemy shipping lanes with great effectiveness.

- Starfighters: 3 squadrons
- Maneuverability Rating: Very High
- Speed Rating: Very High
- Hyperdrive: Yes
- Hyperdrive Class: Class-1 (Primary), Class-2 (Secondary), Class-10 (Emergency)
- Built off the same hull as the Contributor-Class Combat Support Ship, therefore it shares many of the same characteristics, but ditches the compartmentalized cargo sections, replacing them with secure mine storage and dispensers.
- Large number of "Sentry" and "Sentinel" Combat/Security Droid stations throughout the ship.
- Heavy layered ray shields around the entire ship, with concentrations being around the crew quarters, the primary and auxiliary bridge, and the engine spaces to protect the ship from being hijacked or vented in case of damage.
- Ceiling-mounted HOB/F Heavy Repeating Blasters in the hallways to defend the ship from boarders.
- Particle shields for anti-boarder defense and to protect the ship itself.
- Hangar equipped to launch three squadrons of "Viper" Droid Starfighters for protection and combat air patrol of a convoy.
- All 5 SBRA-24 Fusion Reactors are interlinked with all systems, and any reactor is able to provide power to any system on the ship, they are predominantly deep within the stern of ship and able to handle the power needs of the ship quite easily.
- Heavily-redundant damage control systems with fire-fighting foam dispensers, and fire-detection sensors and numerous back-up lines for power, coolant, and fuel.
- Compartmentalized and internally shielded fuel tanks.
- Hidden, shielded, and armored compartments for crew to hide themselves in the event of an enemy boarding action or small amounts high-value cargo.
- A specialized computer system able to program each individual mine it deploys into space.
- Complex system of racks covered by inertial dampeners and ray shields able to keep the ship's cargo of mines safe and stable. Can hold a thousand mines quite easily.
- Very fast and maneuverable, built to escape from potential attack while it is seeding a minefield.
- Tough for a predominantly cargo ship.
- Can carry lots of different mines, and can seed a massive minefield.
- Its droid starfighters can defend it quite capably.
- Very under-gunned.
- Doesn't have a hangar capacity or equipment to manage support craft permanently without non-standard after-production modifications. (A single dropship could stay there but it won't be able to be refueled.
- Small crew, potentially vulnerable to inside job or large boarding action, and if casualties are sustained repairs are going to be very difficult without outside assistance.
- The storage of a large number of mines makes the ship a massive explosion waiting to happen.
