How the Stock Market Works
Mechanics
- When a stock is bought, its share price goes UP
- When a stock is sold, its share price goes DOWN
- Share Prices are updated after each trading day
- Basic information is displayed above. For more comprehensive data, as well as personal stock balance, you can view in the GSE Google Sheet.
- When buying shares, you must transfer [Number of Shares x Share Price] amount of Underworld Credits to
EXC-HNG3
, which acts as a Market NPC Account. Once the appropriate amount of Underworld Credits are transferred, that purchase will be transacted. - When selling shares, the appropriate amount of Underworld Credits will be transferred to your account, minus a 15% brokerage fee.
- You may only submit one order per post.
- i.e. you can buy 50 shares of TEC one post, but cannot buy 50 shares of TEC and sell 25 shares of ROBL in the same post.
- You can not sell more shares than you own.
- Every company has a trade cap, i.e. how many shares can be bought/sold in a single market day.
- If an order/sale exceeds the trade cap, then up to maximum shares will be processed.
- I.E. ROBL has a trade cap of 250 and currently 230 shares have been traded.
- Tefka submits an order for 30 shares. Since this order is 10 over the trade cap, only 20 shares are processed and the remaining 10 are refunded.
- Orders are processed by first come first serve, so be a good trader and look at what has already been traded to avoid this.
- A company owner can increase their company's trade cap by a monthly-paid sum of Underworld Credits to increase their company's trade cap.
- Bronzium Tier | 400 Share Trade Cap: 5,000 Underworld Credits
- Chromium Tier | 600 Share Trade Cap: 9,500 Underworld Credits
- Aurodium Tier | 800 Share Trade Cap: 19,000 Underworld Credits
- A company with a higher trade cap has more potential for growth in a single day vs. a company with a lower trade cap.
- Market Trends are variables that increase or decrease a company's growth. Some are company-specific while others are market-wide. Some are triggered by certain events, and others occur randomly. Market Trends add variability and unpredictability to the stock market. Listed below are various market trends that can occur.
- Consumer Confidence (Positive/Negative): When a stock has high volatility for three days, it gains NEGATIVE Consumer Confidence and will decrease in value more sharply. In contrast, when a stock shows stable growth for a period of three days it gains POSITIVE Consumer Confidence and will grow slightly more rapidly.
- Consumer Confidence can also become POSITIVE when a company upgrades a trade cap tier.
- Bear Market: When 4 or more stocks decrease in value, a BEAR MARKET ensues and all stocks lose value.
- Bull Market. When 5 or more stocks increase in value, a BULL MARKET ensues and all stocks increase value.
- Rally: When a company's share price has been decreasing for 3 or more days, a RALLY ensues and its share price increases in value.
- Consumer Confidence (Positive/Negative): When a stock has high volatility for three days, it gains NEGATIVE Consumer Confidence and will decrease in value more sharply. In contrast, when a stock shows stable growth for a period of three days it gains POSITIVE Consumer Confidence and will grow slightly more rapidly.
