GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Army Name: Galactic Alliance Army Pathfinders 76th Regiment

  • Affiliation: Galactic Alliance

  • Description: Much akin to the pathfinders in the days of old, the 76th regiment operates as a special forces unit for the Galactic Alliance Army. Trained in guerilla tactics and survival, the group is often the first on the scene of a warfront, sometimes days before a battle takes place. Their missions vary- the most common being establishing beachheads, scouting, and sabotage. While the regiment as a whole may be assigned to a planet to take on these tasks before, they are often broken down and divvied among platoons and teams. Due to heavy deployment in recent years, their peers are seen as their family. The sense of comradery is both overwhelming and awe-inspiring. It is often the only thing they have to make them feel human in the field.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Balmorran System Command
  • Goals:
    • Offensive special operations abroad to further the Galactic Alliance's interest
    • Aid Alliance allied nations by way of offensive special operations
  • Reputation: Among citizens, mention of the 76th Regiment does little to none. You'll likely only receive the same minuscule respect as any other GADF member. Because of the group's nature, it does not see much publicity, leaving it largely unknown to the masses. Among their army and navy brethren, the 76th is known as a force to be reckoned with. Small but mighty, their accomplishments in the Sith-Imperial Civil War have garnered well-deserved admiration from other army members. The navy, however, acknowledges their contributions but has a sore spot. The 76th is seen as the "little brother" to marine units such as the 222nd. It often plays into a rivalry between the two, especially when the forces are tasked to work together. As for enemies, they don't think anything, until the 76th strikes, at least. From then on, fear is instilled in the hearts who have looked upon the covert op unit.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The 76th regiment is the newest addition to the pathfinder family. With the Third Sith-Imperial civil war raging on, units deployed to the fronts found themselves battle fatigued after so long from home. Galactic Alliance high command sought to be proactive- thus ordering the 76th's formation.

The majority of soldiers were pulled from other specialties in the army. Chosen for their aptitudes, prior training, and talents, each was carefully selected to form a well-oiled war machine. Major Sol Stazi, a respected captain of another regiment, was ordered to return to Balmorra. He arrived to find a promotion waiting- and his new team. For three months, the unit drilled. Waking hours were filled with training. Though stressful, it was necessary. The regiment graduated with top marks, and had learned how to work together in less than ideal environments.

First deployed
to help aid the First Order's evacuation on the Bryn'adul front, the 76th quickly followed up with relieving a regiment in New Imperial Space... their first battle, Generis, saw them scout ahead of their allies, surveilling a Sith base. While the mission in and of itself was simple enough, the Pathfinders were tested when chaos fell in the forest around them. Teamwork and quick thinking saw casualties at a minimum.

Only a short time after, the Regiment was dispatched to Ziost. The front was in awful condition- the relief they offered was sorely needed after the Alliance's initial losses. The situation only grew worse after their arrival; surrounded on all sides, the Alliances forces were locked in, leaving them with little supplies. Left with no choice, the 76th took part in the Alliance's
second battle of Ziost. Initially sent to disable a number of ship hangars, Eclipse Team's arrival led to the realization they had received bad intel. Only a few moments after this, the orbital bombardment began. The group was ravaged by powerful weapons, leaving a third of their ground forces dead.

Major Stazi decided to split the group- sending one to the city to aid Imperials, and the other to destroy the landing pads, ensuring the ships that had left would not return. The latter was largely successful- but the former struggled. The wartorn city made for difficult navigation and gave the enemy an advantage. They met up with another specialty team, sent to another hangar, and their medic. The wounded began receiving treatment in the rubble, showcasing their flexibility and survival skills.

When the orders to retreat came in, Captain Vullen blatantly refused. She attempted to dispatch her team to the evacuation coordinates, but the pathfinders, ever faithful to one of their own, stood beside their leader. The 76th charged onward, broken in body, but not spirit- openly defying the orders of Alliance High Command. As Major Stazi made it to the evac zone and realized his soldiers were not there, he was forced to set out once more to bring his people home.

The weeks following were tense for the unit. The threat of court-martial hung high above their heads, their only shields the few in high command who understood a young soldier's motive. In an attempt to sweep things under the rug, and showcasing the regiment's value, deployments continued- under the stipulation of their protection would cease should defiance be so much as thought of.
Ossus was the next target; Eclipse Team was sent alone, through Sith Space in stealth shuttles, to defend their allies. The battle as a whole was largely uneventful for the unit- until the Captain lost her medic and sister, Ayana. The team grieved as a whole for their beloved Dulcet, and saved Fury, as she attempted to charge headfirst in a rage.

The regiment returned to Alliance Space shortly before the rest of the fleet. Tired, grieving, angry- they craved nothing more than rest. The team was sat on reserve for the
battle of Csilla, but their skills were notably lackluster, given the issues with their command.

Finally, the court-martial was administered, no longer able to be pushed off. Roughly 60 soldiers, all officers,
were condemned with honorable discharge- their exceptional service in the name of the golden Starbird the only thing stopping imprisonment. Captain Vullen was offered a position from the Chancellor as a military liaison, advising on the concerns of the common soldier, due both to her loss and leadership abilities. The Regiment continues, fully operational, hoping to rebuild its tarnished reputation.
