OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee AKA "Kestrisaur"
  • Designation: Semi-sentient
  • Origins: Kestri
  • Average Lifespan: 100-200 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: A reptilian tyrannosaurid with white down feathers.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: I
  • Average Height of Adults: 2 Meters at hips.
  • Average Length of Adults: 9 Meters
  • Skin color: Neutral colors, typically greys and browns, and shades of pale.
  • Hair color: shades of white and grey down feathers. Juveniles can have brown stripes in their down.
  • Distinctions: Being a Kestri subspecies of the Kuryida Edee, the Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee looks largely similar to its cousin. The major distinctions are that it is covered in down feathers that provide insulation against the cold, and it is mesothermic as opposed to ectothermic. They also tend to be about two-thirds the size of a standard Kuryida Edee, though some alpha males can grow to be just as large.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Force Dead

Strengths:
  • Nearly as powerful and deadly as their Kuryida Edee cousins.
  • Highly intelligent, though not quite to the level of true sentience.
  • Able to endure the extreme colds of Kestri.
  • Snow camouflage.
  • Force-Dead Hide: When properly harvested and treated, Kestrisaur hide can retain a limited measure of the creature's physical Force-dead nature, making the material resistant to direct manipulation through the Force.
Weaknesses:
  • Unsuitable for domestication, due to being highly aggressive and territorial, and cannot be soothed using the Force.
  • Small population. Being relatively new, they haven't had all that much time to reproduce yet, but their nature tends to lead them to smaller populations anyway.
  • Limited Force-Dead Properties: This property is greatly diminished after death and requires specialized treatment to preserve. It does not create a Force-nullifying field or make someone wearing the hide Force Dead, and its use is limited to Semi-Unique or Unique submissions.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Primarily Carnivorous and Ovivorous.
  • Communication: Vocal, including growls and roars, and body posture.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee are largely the same as the species from which they were modified. They are also capable of going into hibernation during the coldest, harshest season on Kestri, though this is usually only done if there is a shortage of prey.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Sahan Dragr Sahan Dragr won a Sasori Junjita at a Charity Relief Auction. Although he was a Forgemaster, cloning and genetic modification was new territory for him, so he went to Kamino to study. The very first project Sahan underwent was attempting to adapt a species for the cold climate of Kestri, and he chose the Kuryida Edee. The main reason for this was to see if he could adapt reptilians to the frozen planet in hopes of someday maybe bringing Mythosaurs to Kestri. Thanks to his study with the Kaminoans, and with much assistance by Artus the Mind Forge, Sahan was succesfully able to genetically modify some Kuryida Edee eggs into a whole new sub-species. The eggs were able to hatch after a successful incubation period --which actually did not require very warm temperatures. The experiment was an overwhelming success, and the Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee thrives in its new home on Kestri. They have even been genetically designed to instinctively want to hunt and kill Vong. However, some orbak herders haven't been exactly pleases that there is a new additional apex predator that could potentially go after their livestock....

Upon learning of these creature, Sahan's father Siv Dragr Siv Dragr decided that Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee was too long a name and not catchy enough, thus giving the creature the nickname of "Kestrisaur."

Further study of the Gaht'yc Kuryida'edee revealed an unexpected secondary benefit of their creation. Because their Force-dead nature was physiological, inherited from the Vong-modified biology of the original Kuryida Edee, a small measure of this property could persist within their hides after death. Ordinarily it faded or became functionally useless during preservation, but individuals knowledgeable in working with Force-dead biological materials could carefully harvest and treat the hide in a manner that retained some of its unusual properties. Properly prepared Kestrisaur hide could therefore be used in limited quantities as a material resistant to direct manipulation by the Force. It was less potent than substances such as void stone, however, possessing no ability to project a nullification field or render its wearer immune to Force abilities, and the difficulty of preserving the effect made usable examples exceptionally rare.

Added a paragraph at the end detailing how the animal hide can be used as a Force-resistant material if handled properly in limited quantity and an appropriate strength and weakness. I believe I have made it fair and balanced, restricting it as a material (with that specific property) to semi-unique and unique submissions.

This would require a factory submission as well for that application. My suggestion would be to use the basic technology template and create the material/animal hide as a separate item.

I‘m going to approve this with that qualifier. If you plan on using it for custom armor, sub the material in the factory. The codex is not where we’re going to determine potential factory uses.
