Mission [GA | NJO] Under the Sea

Coral_obj.png
Objective: Sedri
Location: SIA Monitoring Boat, surface
Allies: Valery Noble Valery Noble
Foes: Maizz Moett

Lyrrin sat in the cockpit of the republic hover boat, that had been refitted for this mission, as it idled above the allied formation in the depths. Among them was his friend Valery, so he was fairly confident that whatever happened below that she'd be able to handle herself. The Farghul held a holoprojector in both of his hands which was tethered by a cable into a slim monitor mounted on near the ceiling of the small enclosed area. There seemed to be some form of information feed. Off the sides of the black painted boat were four metal rods that pierced the waves, each of them were dressed with a series of wires and other such electronics. These probes allowed Lyrrin to have an accurate, if not a bit fuzzy, view of the battlefield.

After a few quiet seconds on the surface of the water the battle kicked off with Alliance forces starting to make there way into combat. Moments later the monitor above Lyrrin's head flashed with a yellow frame around several lines of Galactic Common essentially reporting that anomalous energy ratings had been detected by the probes, and that these patterns were consistent with known scanning and surveillance methods "Lyrrin to Command, be advised; hostile scans underway. Attempting to counteract." as he passed along the information he had, the agent simultaneously activated the probe's electronic counter measures. With a hum followed by a hissing noise as ocean water vaporized around the probe's metallic structure, several pulses of alternating intensity energy began to cover the the ocean floor and whatever was between it and Lyrrin's vessel. Ideally the pulsating and asymmetric levels of power would prevent accurate results such as informational paradoxes (for example; both reports of lifeforms and no lifeforms simultaneously). Lyrrin let the jamming sequence cycle only once before shutting the counter measure off. Switching the probes modes back to 'listening' mode he'd try to determine if more sensor activity was reported.

Jasper began to pick up more radio chatter. It sounded like the Sedrians were going to be making their move soon. Valery Noble Valery Noble seemed to be amongst them from what he picked up, but he couldn't see the master anywhere. That wasn't the issue. He was sure that she could handle herself, what with her reputation and all. It was what he was going to do that was the issue...

A faint sound rippled through the water. Jasper glanced back over his shoulder just in time to see two figures dive in up above. Jedi hopefully. There was only one way to find out. Jasper scrambled to pull out his lightsaber, letting it's blue blade ignite. The way that plasma reacted under water was weird. It boiled the fluid around it, giving the weapon a steamy aura. It was, admittedly, rather cool, but the padawan had pulled out his lightsaber for other reasons. He raised the blade, waving it very much like one would imagine an air traffic attendant may use a light to guide vessels in and out of hangar bays. If he could hail them, perhaps he could get their attention and join them. It was better than going into battle alone after all.

Neither @Iriis Arani, nor Zak Dymo needed to respond fast enough to the reptilian attacker coming up from below them with murderous intent. This is because Caltin had seen him and shoved them out of the way. The massive jaws caught his arm and violently separated it from the vambrace he was wearing. No matter the toughened skin, mastery of the skill that is Tutaminis or the ability to control (and in some cases eliminate) his pain through the Force, it still hurt like you wouldn’t believe to be caught in such massive jaws. He would have to check for any breaks, but that could not happen until he broke the would-be slaver’s bite.

Instinctively grasping “Vanguard”, his multi-role lightsaber (click the link in spoilers), thumb on one of the activation switches, the big man jammed the hilt into the monster’s head.

Let go or you won’t like what I am about to do…

Will he use his weapon? Will he summon lightning onto the LIZARD? Will he summon energy through the Force and Repulse it? It all depended on the attacker biting him.

Blood was not being drawn yet, but not even he could stop that from happening forever.

Karkosuchus had seen Zak Dymo raise his lightsaber in defense and call out to Iris Arani Iris Arani about his presence. But it would seem that his mighty jaw would find themselves clamped firmly to the arm of Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor has jagged teeth sunk in. He snarled as the man pushed his long lightsaber to the top of his head and threaten to activate it. Letting the arm go from his maw took considerable effort but eventually they were seperated.

Until he swung the Swamp Vanquisher within his left hand in wide arc to knock him backwards. Since it had considerable lightsaber resistance it would do well against the extended blade before him. Karkosuchus had to study his opponent for a moment by swinging in a top heavy manner to test his overall defense capacity. There was still the matter of his desired prey to resolve but he was distracted at the moment and would need them to get closer to him.

Grabbing his concussion rifle from his holster and aiming in the general direction of both Iris Arani Iris Arani and Zak Dymo. Squeezing the trigger as the concussion rounds propelled through the water like small mini torpedos.

Lots of things happened before she had a chance to actually do anything about it. Unfun.

Even more unfun was the flash of danger in the colors. Directed towards her and Zak. She raised a hand, pulling at the colors, the current. Sending the concussive blast scattering to the sides.

"Zak, go! Find cover!" Which, she'd follow him. Master Vanagor seemed to have this handled.

Evading more blaster fire, he'd taken a slightly defensive position to try and push back some pirates, when his head suddenly snapped downwards. It had been a disruption in the river, the same kind before he'd gotten shot, as happened in flight. He'd not had time to shout, however, before the smaller jedi had, and then the behemoth of a man shoved them away, taking a bite himself. Raphael winced a bit as the bite occurred. The larger jedi pressed some kind of metal cylinder, what he could only assume was a laser sword, into the creature's head threateningly, which caused it to release the man.

He shook his head. Jedi were a different breed entirely; simultaneously brave and reckless, brash and yet intelligent, no wonder the people at the station used to tell stories. Wasn't his problem, though. Wasn't his focus.

THEN things changed. The creature whipped out a large hammer, fairly impressive swinging, even in the water, and with a second hand whipped out a rifle and fired. Concussive shots! Why hadn't he thought of concussive shots?! That was going to have to be his next project… Maybe. Regardless, for a few moments he was concerned about the other two jedi, despite the female jedi, whatever her name was, he still didn't know, shout at the smaller one to grab cover. He'd learned that one's name. Zak.

He blinked. The jedi woman… The river had changed! In that instant she moved her hand, whatever she'd done, the river of life had altered. Calculations and preconceptions of what was about to happen had shifted in that single instant. The kriff had that been??? His shocked gaze lasted a second or two before averting. He couldn't focus on that now. The concussive rounds had been deflected and scuttled away, before popping and he moved. Blasting a pirate that attempted to advance in the chaos, he ducked into a building. Two more sedrians. Huddling. Frightened… He could feel it on the river surrounding them. Kark it, he might as well call it the Force, by this point.

"He-Hey. Shh… It's gonna be ok." He whispered to them, calming them down, from the rage of battle. "We're…just gonna get you…" He looked down. One's leg had been hurt and he didn't have any first aid kits to help. He didn't… Healing wasn't something that he could do! No. Maintain calm. Maintain focus. "C'mon. We're gonna get you out of here. I'm NOI and I'm here to help."

"Understood, Lyrrin, keep me posted," Valery relayed back after getting his message. She hadn't been out to fight on actual battlefields often while he was around, but he was one of her most-trusted friends and one hell of an agent. If someone would give her the intel she'd need and back her up at the same time, it would definitely be Lyrrin.

Her focus then shifted back to the eastern flank, as allied forces began their attack in an attempt to break through enemy lines. The raiders would never be able to keep them back forever, as they hadn't brought a planetary invasion force with the intent to capture it. They were here just to capture slaves and get back out, but time was still an important factor. The sooner they got the raiders off of Sedri, the more people they'd protect.

The raiders, however, were not going to make it easy — reinforcements had been summoned to their flanks, and so it was finally time for Valery to engage. Like a harpoon, she blasted through the water with her lightsabers ignited, and swept her way through the first line of defenders. It offered those behind her some cover, as well as an opportunity to move up.

"Seeing anything new, Lyrrin?" Valery then asked over comms, "We might also need to reinforce the flanks here to counter their movements."

The Ex-Colonel of the Galactic Alliance stood motionless for all but a second as his attention was drawn towards the tactical officer in charge of communications and scanners. "Field Commander Moett, tactical scan is sending us mixed signals. We can't get an accurate readout of the surrounding area." They said showing him the datapad which confirmed that the scan was sending them informational paradoxes. Some of the scan showed that lifeforms were around while others said that there was nothing out there. A by the book officer would attempt to choose between which scan was accurate to base his next moments on or ignore the scans and go with his gut feeling.

Moett would pick neither, as he swam back towards the holographic table in the middle of the Coral Reef Operational HQ. The Eastern Flank was held for now due to the additional reinforcements that was sent but they would soon crumble against the combined assault of the natives and the trained military of the Galactic Alliance. The green & blue dots engaged with the red dots in pitched battles with him personally crossing out units as it unfolded. It was not the first time that he had to command a battlefield with limited resources and it wouldn't be the last.

"Activate our Signal Jammer and place it near the very entrance to the reef on the eastern side. It should block all communication to the Galactic Alliance forces for a few minutes in order for us to regroup."

Moett said into the headset; his plan was to scramble the alliance's communication network for at least 5 minutes and make them unable to organize a front heavy assault for the moment until communication was restored. Pulling his force deeper into the reef would provide more cover and chokepoints.

"Team 77 and Team 21 withdraw from the Eastern Front into the inner reef and prepare to hold the line."

He said as his order was forwarded to the pirate & slaver team with that designation number.

As Cora plunged herself into the sea, she found the waters to be a tad warmer than anticipated. Which was a good thing, because the dock's surface had been strikingly chilly. A gentle current shifted against her left side, heralding Dreidi's arrival, makeup intact. Cora made a mental note to ask her what brand of eyeliner she wore.

"We should stick together and he—do you see that?" She pointed to the unmistakable glow of a lightsaber, the blue plasma waving about like some sort of signal. It fascinated her to no end that when outfitted properly, lightsabers could be used underwater. "That must be one of ours!"

The pair drew closer to the familiar light source, murky waters soon parting to reveal what was fortunately, most likely a Jedi and not a pirate playing around with his new trophy. "Hello, friend!" She greeted, a few bubbles releasing from her rebreather. "Are you here to join in the fight? If so, we must make haste for the reef nearby. If you are injured and in need of assistance, we can escort you to the dock just above here."

Cora gave him a once-over; he seemed well enough, but you couldn't tell from appearance alone. Perhaps inspired, she ignited her own saber, watching the steam sizzle from the heat of the blade's surface with no small amount of curiosity.

Pirates, alongside gangsters, were one of the worst the universe had to offer. In a large invasion force, they were sweeping through the planet of Sedri to gather as many people as possible. The fact it was slavery struck a string in Silas's heart, one that set a determined fire in his soul to help those innocent lives before they were ruined. Thankfully, the order had acted quickly once the call for help was said, else it was unsure how long the planet was going to hold out.

Dressed in his underwater gear, he was waiting at an outpost in the middle of the skirmish for his partner to arrive. Sias was more than willing to do this alone, but it was only safe for someone to come along with him. That being a knight or a fellow padawan who he trusted.

Their mission was to sneak over to a pirate holdout and take down one of the many captains that were leading this assault. If he and his companion took him down, they'd send their troops into disarray. It seemed like a simple task, but in reality, it was no small feat. They'd have to get through countless troops before they got to the scallywag himself. Even then, they didn't know how good this captain truly was till it came to it.

The unique hammer-like weapon that this reptile swung slammed Caltin square in the chest and he did indeed get knocked back. Able to recover quick enough was not a help to the others though as they would have to deal with whatever the would-be slaver was firing on them. On top of that more pirates were moving into the area. This was not going to end well if something was not done and not done right now. The thing is, Caltin had to make a choice, he could not get the Lizard and the slavers or he would have already.

The monster was swinging again, but this time he was ready, blocking the weapon with “Vanguard” he was surprised to see that while it was not impervious to the lightsaber, it held. That was a bit surprising since both of his weapons can cut (so far) through everything but Cortosis, but no matter, reaching and grabbing for the Lizard’s mouth, Caltin was going to drive him back a moment and then turn his attention on those pirates. Once close enough, he would summon as much lightning as he could. This was dangerous underwater, yes, but considering the conductivity of the armor he was wearing, and… well… they’re underwater… he wanted something to go right.

Once it was settled, his eyes were back on the pirates. Two submersibles coming in on an attack run. They wouldn’t last long as he shot at them through the water and split between the two. Remember how Vanguard is double bladed? Well those blades cut into the hulls of the attacking vessels and while they were not disabled, they were taking on water and fast.

Master Vanagor was battling... a giant crocodile?

"ASTRAL!" the boy cheered, as Caltin and the massive reptile clashed.

"Zak, go! Find cover!"

The Nautolan seemed deflated by the command. "Aw," the boy complained aloud, even as he tucked his body into an S-like flip that propelled him in the water. His natural swimming abilities combined with the Jedi Art of Movement made the boy preternaturally graceful in the water. Beneath them, on a coral ledge, there was an outcropping of buildings where several families had gathered to try and weather the assault. Zak shot down toward them.

"Like this?" the boy asked, looking back toward Iris.

At least, he thought that she was behind him.

"Will do." Lyrrin responded to Valery's request to keep her informed of further developments. Lyrrin examined the holoprojection with keen interest as the developments continued to unfold beneath the waves. The agent noted that there didn't seem to be anymore attempts at scanning the area, which was a trivial victory in the grand scheme of the fight but a victory none the less. After a few minutes the monitor mounted to the ceiling of the cockpit flashed with another warning and a display of readings began to quickly scroll through one of the side bars "A beacon?" Lyrrin squinted at the readouts then scowled "No, a Jammer." Lyrrin put his index finger to the side of his headset and spoke "Lyrrin to Command." after a few quiet seconds he repeated "Lyrrin to Command, can you read me?" nothing.

Lyrrin had been trained in the use of electronic warfare but this was something that would be far more difficult to remotely remedy. If there was a standalone signal jammer unit the best chance he had to re-establishing connection with Valery and the rest of the Alliance fighters was to try and find a new frequency that wouldn't be on the spectrum of jammed signals though this was unlikely to work. His only other avenue would be to hope that Valery and the others would understand that their communications had been interrupted. This far above the jammer Lyrrin would still have communications between other surface assets and those in low orbit. A small comfort to say the least.

Oh right he was actually really fast in the water.

Iris wasn't slow, even in the water, but she wasn't going to keep up. Especially not with people shooting at them. She spun in the water, her blades arcing through to batter aside or just straight up absorb the bolts being sent their way. For her, being out in the open in the water was.. Well, shooting fish in a barrel came to mind. Didn't mean it was the same for Zak. Protecting him was her first thought.

Once behind cover though she let out a breath, fogging her mask for just a second.

"You want to help Master Vanagor, don't you?"

That was clear in the colors. He might be excited about the whole fighting monsters and pirates, but hopefully there was something deeper there. She turned, gave him a smile. "Why don't we keep the pirates off his back, then? Get to their transports, disable them. I'll keep their eyes."

Put some trust in him. Zak wasn't a youngling. Zak had his own lightsaber. He could do this much. Even if she was still trying to keep him from open warfare, anyway. With that plan in line she propelled herself out of the cover, swimming off and away from the families trying to keep themselves safe. Right towards one of the pirates who had followed them. He got one shot off before it was absorbed into her blue saber, and it passed through him. No blood, no wounds. Blissfully unconscious as she spun her secondary blade around to knock another shot aside.

"Can't even shoot someone who can't breath here, huh? I thought you aquatic species were supposed to be superior."

She grinned behind the clear glass of her mask. The insult seemed to work as more guns were now pointed her way. She dipped back, wrenching up a blown out piece of a building to act as cover from the incoming hail of blaster fire. Then threw it out to knock aside a good portion of the shooters while she continued to swim away. Keep their eyes on her. That she could do.

It would seem that Iris Arani Iris Arani was more than able to defend herself and Zak Dymo from his concussive rounds with ease. Although his hammer did engage in a brief but intense back and forth with Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor . Karkosuchus was just about to swing once more with the flat edge of his power hammer when an immense surge of lightning flooded into the water and right into him. The internal skeleton could be seen as the smell of burnt reptiles wafted into the water.

The immense force of the blast sent him spiraling downwards into the water depths like a starfighter losing control in orbit. Crashing down onto the ocean floor with quite a considerable thud. Karkosuchus took a minute to recover as he regained control of his nerves and motor function. Using the Swamp Vanquisher like a cane to haul himself up to his feet. It would seem that an underestimation of the Jedi before him had caused this error in judgment to occur.

Propelling himself through the water once more with his massive tail providing the lift needed to accelerate. The Pirates and Slavers would not last long with the increased assault of the Galactic Alliance Military and the Natives Species. Several Sedrians moved to engage him but their efforts were not. As the pain caused him to become more aggressive and slice through them like butter with his sharp claws and mouth of jagged teeth.

Once more, the Atrisian Knight found himself deep in the waters of Sedri, only this time it wasn't for a visit to learn about various aspects of the Force. The call had been made, and the Order would respond. As Jedi, they had a solemn duty to protect all life, and in Luric's book, slavery was one of the truest slights against life. For if one could not live live in the way they chose to, if one had to instead be at the beck and call of another with no free will, then it was no life at all.

Arriving at the outpost that his friend and partner for this mission was waiting at, Luric had already dressed in his underwater attire. A thermal-wetsuit of black with golden hued accents, with matching boots that had very small fins at the toes in order to facilitate moving within the currents of Sedri's vast oceans a little less difficult. His lightsaber was firmly attached to his left hip, and he had his re-breather dangling by Fibercord from his neck.

"This will not be easy, my friend..." he said to Silas as he surveyed their surroundings. "...but so long as we mind our training, keep alert, and trust in the Force, we shall not fail." Turning to look to Silas, his smiled reassuringly, and placed a hand upon his shoulder. "May the Force be with us all this day."

The battle was, despite the enemy reinforcements, slowly turning in their favor. With the overwhelming manpower and far better equipment the Alliance had, it was only natural, but she knew better than to underestimate her enemies. Especially in environments like this — it wasn't that often soldiers or Jedi operated underwater, after all.

"Push them back but be careful. They'll all be coming together!" Valery called out to those around her before she tapped her comms and tried to contact Lyrrin again. But unlike last time, she only heard static. It meant that either her equipment was malfunctioning, or the enemy was also trying to disrupt their technology.

"I need a team to help bring those jammers offline! I'll maintain the front." She hoped that Lyrrin would either be able to do it himself or find a way around it, but she had teams trying to trace the source of the jammers as well just in case. Meanwhile, Valery was the Sword to break through the enemy lines, even now that they were making what seemed like a tactical retreat. The same amount of pirates would be covering a smaller area, so it was a tougher fight but not one beyond Valery's skills to handle.

Objective 1:
He heard the boom, saw the lizard go spinning downwards like a ship shot down, and heard a bit of a thud, but didn't dare look down. He held up a finger to the pair of sedrians and glanced out of the doorway right as an adversary came barreling inside bashing him backwards and knocking the blaster from his hand. The amphibious enemy seemed to ignore him, for the moment, or maybe the man hadn't seen Raphael, and levelled a stun rifle at the two sedrians.

Unfortunately, for the man, Raphael had not been knocked out of the fight and tackled him, as best he could in the water and wrestled with him, desperation to keep these two safe being the only thing on his mind. He couldn't, wouldn't, let them be captured! He would keep these people safe and there wasn't a kriffing thing that these pirates could do about it!! The river spun around him, swirled before him. It wrapped around his arms, it felt like it was coiling about him, ready to spring. There was a moment of silence as he immersed himself in the world for a second and then there was a loud booming sound and the pirate and a few others were launched from the building, followed by a pair of sedrians and Raphael a second later as he led them away, beyond the perimeter and past the line that the jedi had made.

Raphael partially retreated behind his jedi "allies", trembling. He'd…never done that before and he didn't know what he'd even just done! No. It wasn't him, he rationalized in his mind, it had been a malfunction in the stun rifle! That was it. Definitive proof… He hated it, hated himself and hated that it was here that all of his hypothesizing and theory was tossed out the window. He had retrieved his weapon from the building, however, and as the storm of his brain calmed, he raised it again, refocusing his efforts and concentration on the pirates. He wouldn't pay attention to it. It hadn't happened. If he had to lie to himself to maintain his sanity until the end of all of this, he would.

Under the Sea

The Tactical Retreat was in full swing as his forces were slowly being overwhelmed by the superior ability of the Galactic Alliance and the determination of the natives to protect their homes. His strategy thus far had been to use the reef density as a chokepoint to draw them into a smaller area where the numerical advantage was nullified. But that would not hold them for long as additional reinforcements might arrive. They were up against a professional military force that had engaged in battles with both the Empire and the Brotherhood of the Maw and emerged victorious.

"How much time on those jammers?" Field Commander Moett asked the command staff. "15 Minutes before they go offline, Sir."
was the response. The entire purpose of the jammers was to disrupt communications for the Alliance while they withdrew into the reef. Having partially completed that objective would give them more time to come up with a plan of attack moving forward. Gazing over to his reserve force stationed within the command center deep within the reef.

"Pull the jammer back into the reef more to draw them in. Additionally, Send in the fish!"

Moett ordered through the headset as his orders were slowly carried out. A team of pirates removed the jammer from the entrance to the reef and pulled it deeper inside and his reserve force of
Mancharunk swarmed through the command center to engage with the enemy outside. They were much faster and stronger in the water than the pirates and slavers which would make them an effective shock infantry for the time being.

Although he doubted they could last long moving forward.

Lyrrin felt frustrated and useless as he sat in the seat of the hover craft without anyway to contact Valery or anyone else in her area. The jammers had been extremely effective. Normally, at this point, Lyrrin would have made his way to Valery's location personally or sent a probe droid as a Runner. Given the circumstances of the combat being a sub maritime operation he could do neither of those things "What I wouldn't give for a water-proof droid." the agent mumbled to himself as he watched the holographic symbols of Valery & Co. fighting what appeared to be swiftly moving additional icons. He could tell based solely off the speed at which they were traversing the battlefield that these were either a different species or perhaps a droid type, different than that of the original combatants.

He could hope and he could send her all the positive, silent, wishes he could think of to pull through though that would be the extent of direct involvement he could offer her. Lyrrin deactivated the holoprojector and unbuckled himself from the seat. The Farghul went out onto the deck and pulled from his belt a holocommunicator. A blue glow eminated from it showing him a miniaturized Communications Officer from one of the GADF ships in orbit "We are receiving you agent." the woman spoke in a professional and measured way "I'm reporting that short-range jamming devices are being used where Master Noble and her team are fighting the pirates. I've been unable to re-establish contact with any of them. There also seem to be new, quicker, hostiles moving into the area from where I believe the jammers are being stored. Is there any way you could make contact with her?" after a brief moment of the Communications Officer speaking with an unknown individual who was out of view, she nodded in the affirmative "Yes, we'll use the ship's multispectrum comms array and attempt to relay your message. There are no guarantees since we do not know which frequencies are being hit and which are not, atthe moment at least. We'll need to severe contact with you to do it though. May the Force be with you agent." and then the holographic image of the woman fizzled out. Lyrrin stood on the deck alone once more.

Meanwhile a heavily distorted and choppy message would sound in Valery's ear:
