SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Frostfire
  • Classification: Fort
  • Location: Atrisia: Shikoku Province
  • Affiliation: Atrisian Commonwealth
  • Population: Moderate: Rebuilding over the years after many were taken and killed. THe fortress itself has expanded into the surrounding mountains and a harbor established allowing more trade for some of the weather proof ships.
  • Demographics:
  • Accessibility: Located in the remote heavy snow covered mountains of the Shikoku province. High mountains with strong winds and deep canyons of bone chilling waters. Nightly frosts that can block passages and nightfalls that can last for several months a year due to rotation of the planet on its axis. Then getting to the fortress itself is done as the major entrances and passes to the valley it is located in are monitored, the air saturated with anti air defenses and planetary shielding to cover the valley and leave only small gaps for their own fighters and airships to be scrambled. High walls that are made to be unscalable, long sightlines and chokepoints with coverage from multiple angles of attack from the defenders.
  • Description: Large in its size and encompassing its old city, the fortress of Frostfire has stood on the borders of Jar'kai and Shikoku province for the longest time. With the deep frozen waters on oner side leading to the sea and high mountains to the other end. It allows a natural funnel to be made between the provinces and with high walls and defensive measures designed from turrets to cover and energy shield gates. It is one of the harder fortresses to assault for armies that are not prepared for the elements around as temperatures during the long winters can go far below freezing and without specialized icebreaking equipment on ships or cold adapted airships and speeders getting in and out can be almost impossible. THe city of Far Harbor serves from the old fortress and has been built with connected buildings and tunnels to the fortress. Functioning as a trade hub and means for many to get to the fortress if they seek to not navigate the desolate paths leading there and risk snowfall and landslides. The uppermost ssections at times being obscured by clouds and housing the generals as well as their most loyal retainers and their families.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Far Harbor: The lowest point and main trade hub of the fortress and small town built within it. It serves to be the main access point for non-military and their families as well as housing the citadel an icy temple dedicated to the Wukong on the planet to give them access into the far northern regions and the rest of the area.

Throne Room: Designed to the atrisian standard for their throne rooms, with a long hall having three levels of boxed in seats that use holographic displays for the other palaces and capitals. As a meeting room it can be used to connect to all the military commanders and the emperor and empress. The chairs for the Fiendfire Generals are in the end with space where the emperor and empress would be sitting above all of them to observe and speak.

Atrisian Transportation Network Hub: Created and connected to the Atrisian network of advanced transportation between the various palaces and fortress of significance on the world.

SECURITY
Maximum
: Being one of the few fortress cities on the edge of the ancient province Frostfire is massive. With lines of sight and chokepoints designed to funnel enemy forces. Advances with anti air turrets and planetary shielding over the valley are designed to limit what forces can be sent without high casualties. The generals of the Fortress working to better improve identification and response times with their weapons. Their stationed soldiers and trained citizens who while not military know how to defend themselves in the event all other protective forces are taken out.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The ancient fortress of the Frostfire, gleaming and beautiful in legend but something that is shrouded in mystery in some cases. The earliest stories about it are of a family that settled in the area fleeing the destruction of the Shikoku province.. the last survivors they found the valley and were able to make a place that was defended. THey established the first village and attracted other survivors. From those survivors a fort was built and not knowing if they were the only survivors of the destruction they slowly set out smaller expeditions.. discovering Jar'kai and its cities was one thing but it only brought some trade for them... the real treat was from boats that they managed to sail to the far lands... an island chain said to hold countless riches for them. Two were sent a brother and a sister.. the brother by land and the sister later went by sea.

THe brother returned with riches, eventually finding a route to the far lands by sea and returning with carts of gems, jewels and precious stones... all of which made the village one of the richest and it became expanded stretching throughout the valley itself. THe sister disappeared, tales of her party coming as many were twisted and manipulated into darker monsters.. Raiders or cannibals.. they were lost and only scattered information about a seducer, trying to turn them all on each other came with the sister being taken away. There were no reports of her save a hunting party saving there was a pillar of ice with the remains of a ship within it and they could sweat they saw a being imprisoned within. THe stories were considered just stories and the family slowly died off to plague and worse aspects of greed and infighting.

It wasn't until nearly a thousand years later when the sister returned.. most of her family were gone to fighting.. their trade empire crumbling and the riches that had built the town from a small village long since gone... poverty and the blame being on the last child... but she was different. Gone was the girl who was considered one of the most noble among her family and instead she was cruel and calculating... killing many more who threatened her family. THen she vanished again and the village under threat of her returning existed as it was approached by the Onyx empress and offered a chance to become one of the forts that would be across Atrisia to expand her military presence. They gave into it and the area was being built for the next few years from a village with some defenses to one of the fortresses scattered across the largest continent.

The early fortress was not terrible and it was remote enough that there wasn't much in the way of attacks. The trade city close enough they could provide protection and what was more as they worked to protect the traders they would be able to protect. With much more being discovered as they sent out expeditions to the ancient province to explore it and find what they could.... but there were creatures in the snow that ran away or if confronted could attack but they avoided them when they could. The danger of the elements as it seemed the deeper you went into the province towards the ancient city the colder it got until it was almost a snap freeze to anyone that wasn't using the best in terms of thermal protection. The villagers only going there to search under circumstances.

The fortress continued to expand and grow... being built up more and more as the town turned into a larger village itself... it became bigger turning into a main trade city and hub in the area with smaller villages spreading out among the mountains... but the harsh landscape of bitter cold didn't encourage much in the way of exploration. THe rest of Atrisia moved them along and plagues came to the world... dark ages and more. The fortress stood at its tallest and like a beacon in the snow. The latest general in charge had two children and to tie them closer to his friend they were set to marry the royal family. The daughter of the emperor and the cousin of her... it was a beautiful ceremony but tragedy struck as the sith attacked and many more came after them to take the world.

The deaths of many men and children in the village saw the people angry... and wanting revenge. They got what they could and prepared, finding solace in the cold rage that they would be able to find their people. They did launching an attack eventually and only a small handful could be rescued from the terrible fates and even worse. THe two women left the daughter and the wife of her brother decided to cooperate together. The would eventually marry as Atrisia recovered and as the Jishi era came and continued to bring a renewed sense of the world the people saw massive expansion with new technologies and newer production. Advanced modules for self sustaining homes that the people would be able to get. New defensive measures and droids that would act as a bulwark in the few chokepoints leading in as well as a powerful secitional planetary shield to protect the valley.

The Far Harbor itself became a larger trade Hub of the northern aareas as it had the best sea access and was defended able to be seen as exotic where they could act like a gateway to the Shikoku province that others might not be able to reach. A temple fr the Wukong being built and access to the transport network that they would be able to use to access and reach other areas of Atrisia or the Anshin. With the new Friendfire Generals in charge of the Frostfire it proved an effective means to aid the people of Atrisia.
