Faction First Strike | Final Dawn

MOSHED-2026-5-14-9-48-27-ezgif-com-crop-1.jpg

Following the collapse of the Imperial Confederation, what was once Imperial space soon fell into chaos as both former rivals and opportunists moved quickly to trample the corpse of the once mighty Confederation. Loyalist worlds like Tion and Lianna were put to the torch by the Sith and their Mandalorian allies, while the so-called Confederation of Free Worlds has begun spreading the corrosive lies of democracy, hoping to revive the ideals of the old Confederacy of Independent Systems.

For months, these chaotic forces were allowed to roam freely through former Imperial Space, but that will end today. Emerging from the last strongholds of Imperialism in the Outer Rim, a new force has risen to bring order to the region and bring forth the ultimate and final resurgence of Imperialism across the galaxy: the Final Dawn.

Having gathered resources and assets, the Final Dawn has begun its first offensive, setting its sights on the so-called grassroots movement known as the Confederacy of Free Worlds, aiming to cure the Outer Rim of their infection before it grows too strong and restore Imperialism on worlds that have been corrupted by their touch.

Thus, from the Imperial fortress worlds of Cholganna and Mon Cala, Imperial Fleets have converged on the world of Murkhana, which has recently aligned itself with the CFW, having hosted major celebrations regarding its growth. Soon, the people of Murkhana will pay the price for contributing to the spread of this corrosive poison, and order will be restored to the rebel world.

MOSHED-2026-5-15-7-59-50-ezgif-com-crop-1.jpg

A large Imperial fleet has converged on the Outer Rim world of Murkhana, with the intent of shutting down all traffic flowing to and from the world and imposing a complete and total blockade on the planet. Standing in their way is the local planetary defence fleet, cobbled together from whatever scraps Murkhana was able to acquire on the open market since the Confederation’s collapse. To ensure the restoration of order on Murkhana, this fleet must be crippled and destroyed, down to the last vessel. No one must be left alive.

While Naval elements move to impose a total blockade in orbit, a large contingent of Imperial ground forces converges on Murkhana’s capital city, Murkhana City, with the ultimate goal of occupying the city and forcibly disbanding the Pro-CFW planetary government. However, the locals have managed to raise local militias to confront them and are now attempting to evacuate the members of Murkhana’s planetary government before the Imperials can capture them or worse, kill them. If we are to restore order on Murkhana, we must hold their leaders accountable and prevent their escape at all costs to ensure they can be properly apprehended.

The landing zone had been secured, units of the Shattered Legions had moved as intended to support the Final Dawn offensive. Stormtroopers and Army Troopers alike had disembarked without major resistance and swarmed the edge of the city, setting up a perimeter for heavier and faster forces to move unimpeded to their mission target.

Among the soldiers of the Shattered Legions was not a single individual that did not look splendid at a first glance. Their armours were in perfect condition, just as their blasters and vehicles. Below though, upon closer look, one could see the cracks of the perfect image. Ragtag armor pieces, various types of older and modern model blasters, different unit markings, they were almost colorful, in a grim, militaristic way.

Valerian marched among them. His red and black armor standing out, together with those of his Chamber that made up his command and guard squad. He issued orders with cold precision, the units under him working in perfect cadence with each other. A trait not natural, but gained through hardship. Hardship under his absolute authority that enforced an unflinching, unrelenting discipline. Tough but fair. Even if there was no Empire left, no realm to cling to, Imperial ideals, the meritocracy of the battlefield and the supremacy of logistics, could never be abandoned. They were the true soul of an Imperial Warrior.

"82nd Battalion advances road Dorn-73. Brigade Hagen fortifies the landing zone, Brigade Azaion prepares its repulsors to sweep forward. Recon elements advance to here, here and here. No tolerance for oversight today. Sweep every cellar and every roof, scan the underworks. Keep the population at bay, no lethal force against civilians unless they join the enemy."

He reached out with his hand as his aide quickly gave him the datapad. With a quick unlock Valerian checked on the progress of the entire operation, tuning in on the command network of the Final Dawn and looking of how to best integrate with the others. He did not stop while doing so, simply moving further on, down the concrete pavement along with hundreds of Stormtroopers and dozens of tanks.

The Flight of Fancy lurched, the deck plating beneath Vortigern's boots vibrating with a harsh, metallic rattle that set his teeth on edge. As the jump-flash receded, the Murkhana system snapped into focus, a smear of blue and brown suspended in the black, ringed by the burning, jagged silhouettes of the local defense fleet. Vortigern gripped the armrests of his throne, his fingers curling deep into the velvet padding.

He forced himself to sit perfectly still, even as a familiar, prickling heat crawled up the back of his neck. His gaze was locked on the viewport, where the incoming sensor pings showed the rebel ships. They looked like pathetic scraps, rusted hulls held together by desperation and hubris, yet as he watched a stray turbolaser bolt streak past the cruiser's bow, his left eye betrayed him.

It twitched, a sharp, rhythmic spasm that he tried to hide by brushing a finger across his mustache. "Status," Vortigern called out, forcing his voice into that deep, chesty rasp he kept for public addresses. He didn't turn his head; he couldn't take his eyes off the ships drifting closer.

"Are the blockade coordinates set? I want those insurgents pinned to their own orbit." Vice Admiral Krennel stood over the tactical pit, his eyes moving across the display with a cold efficiency. He didn't even look up at the Warlord. "The planet's traffic is frozen, my lord. The blockade is holding. The rebels are scattered and disorganized, though they are beginning to return fire." Vortigern's heart slammed against his ribs.

He imagined a stray torpedo hitting the gold-plated sensor array, the jagged tear in the purple hull, the sheer humiliation of showing up to the Final Dawn's offensive and losing his precious ship to a bunch of market-bought freighters. He shifted his weight, the movement causing his medals to clink with a frantic metallic sound. He coughed to cover the noise, smoothing his uniform jacket with shaking hands.

He leaned forward, squinting into the chaos of the debris field, searching for any sign of a direct threat to his ship. Every flash of light on the horizon made him flinch, though he masked it by turning to look at his senior officers with a scowl that looked more like a grimace.

"Krennel, see to it that Radiance Squadron tightens the net," Vortigern commanded, his hand darting to his belt to ensure his sidearm was still there. "I want the local fleet dismantled. Every last vessel, every last engine block. Leave nothing behind" He sank back into the throne, his posture rigid. He watched the battle unfold, his eyes wide and unblinking, tracking the trajectory of every enemy ship while his own fleet did the work he was too terrified to lead.

It had been a long time since the 219th Light Infantry Battalion had deployed. They had cast off their original affiliation to The Empire of the Lost, now their allegiance lied to their commander Nimian. He had guided their beleaguered unit through the stars, and through every trial that had crossed their path. From being raided by pirates, to trying and failing to become a proper remnant force, and ever casualty caused in-between.

It was only when Marlon Sularen found Nimian's forces holed up on an island on Mon Cala that their luck finally turned around. Fresh recruits, armor, and weapons were heaped upon them, in exchange for their service. With that deal, The Empire of the Lost truly died, and in it's ashes the 219th was reborn.

Their first sortie would be as tip of the spear duty on the planet of Murkhana, an uneventful landing within the capital city. Once a beachhead was fully established, they would roll forward in their main objective: the industrial hub of Murkhana City.

The industrial center was full of factories and stockpiles that would be important to both the planetary forces, and The Final Dawn. It was imperative that the Imperial forces secure the resources before the local militias can destroy them. It was a perfect job for a highly mobile and experienced unit such as the 219th.

Without doubt, today would be a day of glory for them, or so their commander believed...

Nimian adjusted his cap, looking over the cityscape ahead of his command vehicle. Before him was a mostly intact landscape, the sort of place that many thousands of sapients might call home. He looked upon this sight, and merely gave a smirk. Finally an easy day for him and his men...

"Here is where we shall plant our banners, the first rung of my ladder to the top!"

KV-027 had been attached to the 219th Light Infantry Battalion on a provisional basis, at least for the duration of the ongoing operation in Murkhana City. Thus, the stormtrooper was now under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Nimian Totan, who she knew to be a veteran of the Empire of the Lost. Despite the controversial legacy of the Lost Emperor Velran Kilran, who had led the Empire of the Lost during its prime, she respected any loyal, dutiful servant of the Imperial cause. In her mind, the time for casting blame for the failed Imperial states of yesteryear had passed. From what she knew, the 219th were loyal Imperial servants. That made them allies, and worthy of the trust bestowed in fighting alongside them.

Not to mention, with Supreme Commander Marlon Sularen having entrusted the 219th as the tip of the spear for the operation, KV-027 knew that she was among the finest that the Imperial remnants had to offer.

With the landing having gone smoothly, KV-027 jogged through the formation, her boots striking the permacrete in a steady rhythm before she came up next to the command vehicle. From there, she glanced out across the cityscape, which was pristine and untouched, if only for the fact that orbital bombardment had yet to be authorized. She suspected that if the initial stages of the operation went according to plan, with a tight perimeter formed around the city and the local spaceports occupied, orbital strikes might not be necessary.

“Sir,” KV-027 spoke up as she fixed her gaze towards the Lieutenant Colonel ( Nimian Totan Nimian Totan ) from beneath the skull-like, impassive mask of her First Order-style stormtrooper helmet. “The landing zone is secure.” The stormtrooper stated. “What are our next steps?”

FINAL DAWN
MURKHANA, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

If there was anything the Skirmish in Socorro's Belt had taught Sularen, it was that the Final Dawn was not yet ready to face the many powers that sought to suppress Imperialism across the galaxy in a wider conventional conflict. Their operation to extract Imperial personnel from Kolene had been costly, and many brave souls had lost their lives for that endeavour, far too many for Sularen's own comfort. As such, Sularen pivoted the Final Dawn's focus back towards the former territories of the Imperial Confederation to restore order and eradicate opportunistic groups that sought to take advantage of the power vacuum left behind by the Confederation's collapse.

This would lead him and the Final Dawn here at Murkhana, which had recently been the site of celebrations hosted by the so-called Confederacy of Free Worlds, a grassroots pro-democracy movement that had begun to spread across Imperial worlds such as Crucival and Mon Cala, among others. As such, they had become the primary target of Sularen's campaign to restore order across the former territories of the Imperial Confederation, starting with the very world in which they had celebrated the progress they'd made in trampling the corpse of the Confederation with their degenerate ideas.

Thus, the Sularen's Revenge would soon emerge from hyperspace flanked by a pair of brand new Relentless-Class Star Destroyers fresh from the Cholganna Drive Yards. Onboard the bridge, the Supreme Commander was seated on his command chair as usual, overlooking the battlefield in front of him. Admiral Mimkin's Radiance Squadron had already arrived and had begun to engage the local defence fleet, while numerous military units had made landfall on the surface and had begun the process of initiating the regime change in Murkhana City. So far, everything was moving smoothly, and there were no Mandalorians or Republic forces to give them trouble.

The Captain of the Sularen's Revenge, a young Temerurian male by the name of Castin Waldon, stood beside Sularen's command chair and proceeded to speak up, addressing the Supreme Commander. "Supreme Commander, Wraith Squadron has arrived at Murkhana and awaits your commands," he stated. "Have the Final Judgement and Dread Omen deploy their fighters and interceptors. I want the entire battlefield clear of enemy small craft as soon as possible," Sularen ordered. "In addition, i want the entire squadron to hold their positions, I beleive Admiral Mimkin's forces will be sufficient enough to deal with the local fleet," he added. "In the meantime, keep an eye out for anyone attempting to escape the system," the Captain simply nodded with a "Yes, sir," he said before returning to the consoles of the bridge.

As Sularen instructed, scores of TIE Supremacies and TIE Stürmers were unleashed from the hangars of the two Star Destroyers, joining the fight against the local defence fleet of Murkhana. Soon, all of Murkhana would fall, and many other worlds would soon follow suit as the Final Dawn would herald forth a new age of Imperialism, ready to stand as a bastion of order and security against a galaxy that had long embraced chaos and instability.

Glory to the Final Dawn

The Avenger exited hyperspace and immediately powered up its shields and weapon systems. Coils for deflectors and turbolasers started glowing as ancient reactor flooded the warship's interior with the energies to wage war. Codes were sent. Signal officers on the dark bridge offered nonverbal identifications to the present Imperial vessels to avoid any friendly fire.

At the forefront of the command deck, behind transparisteel windows stood the imposing figure of Admiral Demetrian. Clad in a black and dark grey dress uniform with red inlays, six blue plagues were on the top left chest, he stood taller than he actually was. His blue eyes were cold as they pierced the void that was the Murkhana System.

"Hail the Revenge and Supeme Commander." His voice cut through the busy silence. A few moments later a crewmember signaled the connection was established.

"Supreme Commander." He offered a crisp salute. "I am Admiral Demetrian and I bring word and reinforcements from the Lord Indomitus. He offers his honoured regards and is looking forward to your next meeting. In the meantime, my ship and I are here to support you in and with whatever means available. We are awaiting your orders."

The speartip shaped vessel was slowly gliding through space, making its way towards the blockade in anticipation of the offer and order to join the Final Dawn in its mission. The sublight thrusters calmly pushed the Avenger forward to join the Imperial effort in shutting down this world and bringing it back into compliance once more.

The bridge of the INV Unspoken Verdict was quiet in the way only a properly run command deck could be—no wasted motion, no unnecessary voices, only the low hum of systems and the soft cadence of officers executing orders already understood. Myra Vanek stood at the forward viewport, hands clasped behind her back, posture immaculate. Beyond the transparisteel, the blockade was taking shape with deliberate precision. Not a wall, not a show of force—something far more effective. A net.

She watched as one of the outer pickets adjusted position, sliding just enough to close a vector that most captains would have assumed remained open. Subtle. Intentional. Predictable—if you knew where to look. Most did not.

“Status.” The word was quiet, but it carried.

“Outer screen established, Sector Commander,” one of the officers replied without turning. “Recon elements report no large-scale traffic attempting to break perimeter. Civilian lanes are… adjusting.”

A polite way of saying they were being redirected. Myra’s gaze didn’t shift from the stars. “Adjusting implies confusion,” she said evenly. “Confusion becomes panic. Panic creates noise.” A beat. “Refine the corridor guidance. I want compliance to feel like choice.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Behind her, hololithic projections flickered—surface telemetry, insertion vectors, signal traffic. Her team planetside had already gone to ground. Their presence was a whisper in the data, exactly as intended. She turned then, slow and deliberate, eyes settling on the tactical display. “Surface teams?”

“Deployed and dark. Initial reports indicate successful insertion. No compromise.”

Of course not. Myra stepped closer to the display, one gloved hand lifting slightly as she traced a projected route—not touching, just indicating. “Maintain passive overwatch only. No active sweeps. If they are detected, it will not be because we were careless.”

Her gaze shifted to another station. “Signals.”

“Local communications are fragmenting. We’ve begun soft interference—nothing overt. Just enough to degrade coordination.”

“Good,” Myra said. “I don’t want silence. I want them speaking… just not to each other.”

A faint murmur of acknowledgment moved through the pit. She let the moment settle before continuing. “Begin phase two of the blockade posture. Rotate the inner screen by three degrees and stagger patrol intervals. Anyone watching should see gaps.”

A lieutenant hesitated, just briefly. “Intentional vulnerabilities, ma’am?”

Myra’s expression didn’t change. “Hope is more effective than fear,” she said. “If they believe there is a way through, they will commit to it.”

Her eyes lifted, meeting his. “And when they do… we will already be there.”

The adjustment orders went out immediately. Beyond the viewport, the formation shifted—almost imperceptibly. Lines bending. Space breathing. The illusion of imperfection carefully crafted into something far more dangerous than a solid wall.

Myra turned back to the stars, her reflection faint against the glass. On the surface, her operatives were ghosts. In orbit, her fleet was a suggestion. Together, they formed something far more complete. Control. And the operation had only just begun.

The upper levels of a half-collapsed administrative spire made for a poor command post. Which was precisely why Dayna had chosen it. From this height, the fractured skyline of Murkhana City stretched in jagged layers of durasteel and shadow, its rebuilt sectors clashing against the scars of older devastation. Neon bled through the haze below, interrupted by the intermittent flicker of failing infrastructure and the distant pulse of emergency sirens that never quite stopped.

At the center of it all, rising clean and deliberate against the chaos, stood Argente Tower. Rebuilt. Reinforced. Guarded. Dayna lay prone behind a fractured parapet, her rifle stabilized along a narrow line of cracked stone that had once been decorative. The weapon’s scope hummed faintly as it adjusted for atmospheric distortion, feeding her a clean, stabilized view of the tower’s upper tiers.

Her assigned targets were still inside. No movement. No extraction attempt. No visible panic. That alone made her uneasy.

“They know,” she murmured, not loudly enough to carry beyond her immediate team. “Or they’re very confident they don’t need to care.”

A gloved finger adjusted the scope’s magnification, tracking the upper balcony lines, then the security rotations along the tower’s perimeter. Subtle changes—shift patterns tightening, militia clustering closer to key ingress points. Not chaos. Not yet.

But something was moving beneath the surface. Her other hand worked a compact datapad, fingers moving with practiced efficiency as she tagged positions across the city grid. Local militia elements were mobilizing—irregular, but coordinated enough to matter. She overlaid their movement vectors and pushed the data through her encrypted Politorate channel.

“Forward elements to inbound ground teams,” Dayna transmitted, voice calm, precise. “Uploading live militia tracking. Multiple squads converging west and south corridors toward the tower. Recommend armored approach vectors avoid primary avenues—repeat, avoid primary avenues.”

A brief pause. Then, quieter—“Expect resistance to harden within the next ten minutes.”

The transmission packet finalized and dispatched toward the incoming forces—the 219th Light Infantry Battalion and Shattered Legions—now moving into a battlefield she could already see unfolding piece by piece.

Dayna exhaled slowly, steadying her breathing as she shifted her posture just enough to re-center her firing line. She wasn’t here to lead the charge. She wasn’t here to negotiate. She was here to make sure that when the moment came—No one important made it out of that tower alive.

Her eye returned to the scope. The crosshairs settled along a reinforced transparisteel window near the upper levels. Still no movement. Still waiting. Dayna’s voice, when she spoke again, was barely more than a whisper. “Let’s see who breaks first.”

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
MURKHANA CITY, MURKHANA
OBJECTIVE II: IMPERIAL MARCH

Ronhar and his men hit Murkhana city fast and hard, not giving its defenders any time to react to their sudden deployment.

Scores of Lambda-class YT-1760 Annihilators, Imperial U-Wings and TIE Scorchers began bombarding the city with everything that they had, aiming to break the resolve of the city's defenders and quickly and easily as possible. Under such fierce bombardment, many of the militia did exactly that, breaking and running at the first sign of serious opposition or throwing down their arms and surrendering to the nearest Imperial Remnant forces as soon as it was safe to do so.

The most hardened defenders, however, refused to lay down their arms, and if anything the aerial bombardment only encouraged them to dig in further and entrench themselves, necessitating the deployment of ground forces like Salvage Team Six and the Junkyard Knights of Mahporeem. Ronhar was naturally first and foremost among them, and his men quickly followed behind him as he exited the MIN Night Reaver, which flew away to conduct close air support operations for the advancing Imperial troops.

His orders were simple enough: find the planetary government, arrest its leaders and at worst, eliminate them before they could escape and rally more supporters to their illicit and illegal cause. Ronhar was determined not to let that happen, hence the "shock and awe" aerial bombardment that he had his troops unleash upon the city's defenders. Though not entirely unsuccessful, such a bombardment was not enough to shatter the morale of the city and its people, and so Ronhar went on foot to help finish the job.

His most pressing concern, however, was linking up with friendly Imperial forces, or at the very least being able to get into a position where he could support their efforts against the defenders of Murkhana. Sensors pinged all across Ronhar's HUD and he and his team made their way, unsure of where to go first or what secondary objective to tackle as they moved throughout the city. Regardless, Ronhar was willing, ready and able to lend his support to any Imperials who might need it, and he ran forward with dogged determination, prepared to fight through the entire city if need be!

The Shattered Legions advanced in Murkhana City with silent precision and minimal incidents with the locals. Most civilians let the rugged Imperials pass, their stoic and tired looking faces not the kind of person you like to turn down and oppose. Stern looks that had seen too much and yet would not hesitate to do anything duty required.

Apparently the Imperial forces advanced and followed various strategies in their approach to take the government into custody. Forward troops, both of Light Infantry under Lieutenant-Colonel Totan as well as intelligence-recon elements under Myra Vanek Myra Vanek 's oversight were deployed to probe and deliver live information. Valerian could work with that, he was actually quite eager to work with such perfect additions to his own heavier forces, balancing the firepower and staying power he brought with mobility and stealth. The 219th would achieve the tactical goal and his forces would secure their gains.

In conjunction with those units, the Shattered Legion's vanguard advanced quite smoothly, with minimal losses due to militia and limited professional resistance. Slow, steady and dirty, urban combat was a hell that every soldier dreaded. Yet here was a sliver of hope that cohesion and coordination could make a difference.

That however went up in flames when TIE Scorchers and other aircraft bombed the city indiscriminately. Plans usually do not survive contact with the enemy, but in this case, it was the allies that Valerian had failed to account for. What had previously been a tense urban advance, quickly deteriorated. Militias and civilians that were previously hesitant and intimidated by tanks and massed Stormtroopers, suddenly realised that these people were coming to destroy their homes.

Firefights erupted. Previously cleared locations suddenly became red zones. Blaster bolts jolted through the narrow streets and alleyways as brutal close quarters combat erupted all along the advance. Mobs attacked fireteams in dark alleys, amateur snipers suppressed units as dozens of windows became ideal firing positions.

"Maximum force. Everyone who is not us, is an enemy until proven otherwise. Secure the lines of communication to the landing zone. Artillery free, call in strikes when necessary."

"To recon elements, Dayna Rhyss Dayna Rhyss , mark several buildings along our path that can serve as strongholds. We will work our way alongside them. 219th, Nimian Totan Nimian Totan , our vanguard will support your advance. Focus on the mission, not on the battle. We will clean up behind you."

And thus the Shattered Legions under the Praetorian Valerian threw themselves into the bloody work that was the Battle of Murkhana City. Valerian cursed once, more to his own inability to predict such, less than in anger, but his determination had already been awoken. They would see this battle through, they would not only prevent the government from escape, but conquer this city.

The stillness on the bridge of the Flight of Fancy was interrupted by the sporadic ping-ping-ping of sensor arrays and the soft, muffled drone of the gold-trimmed terminals. Vortigern was compelled to rise from the comfort of his throne and make his way to the thick transparisteel viewport to witness firsthand what his fleet officers were doing to protect themselves against the advancing rebel fleet.

The Murkhana system had transformed from a quiet blockade into a potential perilous battlefield, and he certainly hadn't agreed to let his fleet be pummeled without assistance. The rebel defense fleet had ceased their aimless drifting. They were now coordinating as a squadron of enemy interceptors broke formation, weaving through the debris to bombard the Flight of Fancy's shields with focused laser fire.

The ship trembled, the impact delivering a jolt through the deck that caused the decorative crystals set in the bulkhead to rattle in their mounts. "Status! Why aren't they being vaporized?" Vortigern shouted, his voice straining to keep its artificially deep tone. He waved his arms frantically at the tactical display, his ample belly jiggling with the sudden motion.

"Radiance Squadron is falling behind! Are they blind? Annihilate them! I want those arrogant pests eradicated from the void!" Vice Admiral Krennel remained unfazed, even as a new barrage of fire shook the ship, making the lights flicker and momentarily cast the bridge in a sickly amber hue. Krennel's gaze was locked on the tactical flow, his hands moving with the calm, methodical precision of someone who had experience.

"The rebels have adopted a high-mobility screening strategy, Warlord," Krennel stated, his tone steady, cutting through the rising panic on the bridge to reassure his agitated superior. "They are trying to divert our fire from their formation. If we keep firing aimlessly, we squander our munitions. I've instructed the point-defense grid to switch to high-frequency bursts. We are currently isolating their vessels with our anti-personnel arrays." On the viewport, the effects were considerable as a swarm of enemy fighters approached, only to be met by a precise, intricate web of red defensive fire from the Flight of Fancy's automated turrets.

One rebel craft exploded into a widening sphere of white-hot debris; another soon followed, its hull torn apart by the relentless barrage. Vortigern watched the destruction, his pulse hammering against his throat. His reflection looked back at him, pale, sweating, and undeniably terrified.

He quickly pulled his peaked cap down, adjusting the angle until it cast a shadow over his eyes, and puffed out his chest until his medals clattered against his uniform. He turned his gaze toward the tactical display, seeing the arrival of the Avenger and the cold, surgical positioning of the Unspoken Verdict. It was a relief, seeing the rest of the fleet tightening the noose, but it also made him feel smaller.

Dayna lay perfectly still behind the shattered remains of an upper-floor office suite overlooking the government tower district. Dust drifted lazily through shafts of amber light where the transparisteel façade had long since been blown outward, leaving only jagged framing and fractured support beams between her and the war below.

The barrel of her rifle rested against a stabilized firing brace while targeting data scrolled methodically across her visor. Range. Wind. Heat distortion. Movement vectors. Every avenue surrounding the tower remained under observation by her network of optics and remote reconnaissance drones.

Below, Murkhana City was unraveling.

What had once looked like a controlled seizure of the district had become a city-wide ignition point. The bombardment had changed the entire operational atmosphere in minutes. Civilians that had been fleeing now moved with weapons in hand. Militia forces that had previously scattered were reforming in alleyways and rooftops around the government quarter.

Dayna watched one burning transport speeder crash into the lower plaza outside the tower perimeter while scattered defenders repositioned behind overturned barricades.

Then Valerian’s transmission came through her comms. “To recon elements, Dayna Rhyss, mark several buildings along our path that can serve as strongholds.”

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she switched overlays, pulling up structural scans of the surrounding district. Unlike the chaos unfolding below, her breathing remained slow and controlled. “Copy, Praetorian,” she answered calmly.

A gloved finger dragged across her display as she began highlighting hardened positions around the advancing Imperial route.
  • A communications ministry building with reinforced internal corridors.
  • An administrative archive with elevated sightlines over the western avenues.
  • A financial security hub with intact shield generators in its sublevels.
One by one she pushed the data package directly into Valerian’s tactical network, annotating firing lanes, blind spots, and fallback routes.

“Stronghold positions uploaded,” Dayna continued. “Recommend the archive structure on your eastern advance. Upper floors are compromised but the lower levels remain structurally sound. Good fields of fire covering the intersections approaching the tower district.”

Her scope shifted slightly as movement caught her attention six blocks away. A militia team was attempting to establish a launcher position inside a partially collapsed apartment structure overlooking one of the Imperial advance corridors. Dayna adjusted half a degree. Held her breath. Fired. The red lance crossed the city almost invisibly before the rooftop position disappeared in sparks and debris. The launcher clattered uselessly over the building’s edge.

Then Ronhar Tane’s assault reports filtered across the shared command network. Heavy bombardment. Shock deployment. Direct urban penetration. Dayna remained silent for a few seconds as new hostile markers bloomed across her tactical map like spreading infection. Fires. Ambushes. Civilian uprisings. The city had shifted from intimidated to enraged.

Her expression tightened faintly beneath the shadow of her hood. It was effective brutality. But brutality always carried momentum of its own.

“City morale has fully radicalized in several sectors,” Dayna transmitted toward Valerian’s command channel. “Expect increased asymmetric resistance around your flanks. Civilians are joining militia actions opportunistically.”

Another movement flickered near the tower. This time professional. Not militia. Dayna zoomed tighter through the scope, tracking armed figures repositioning along a government skybridge connecting two administrative spires. Better armor. Better discipline. Probably loyalist security forces preparing fallback positions around the planetary leadership.

Finally, something important. Her rifle settled against her shoulder once more as she quietly marked the targets for Imperial command. From her nest high above the city, Dayna continued watching the tower like a patient predator while Murkhana burned beneath her.

Whirring red artificial lights danced around Vireth as the lift carried her up to the bridge of the INV ' Unspoken ' . It was in these moments between places that the Architect took pause in their thoughts and found themselves reflecting on the not-too-distant past. God, they had had it all, hadn't they? After five long years of war and unrest the Galactic Alliance (and their Jedi traitors) had been crushed by the jackboots of the Imperial Stormtrooper. Victory had been ascertained from Imperial Centre to the purse worlds of Neimoidia. The dream had finally been realised.

There would be no no more decadence. No more disorder.

Just power and the consecrated seat of a Galactic Empire that was set to span across the known Galaxy.

Then the Gods themselves had descended upon them like locusts feasting upon the injured frame of a wounded beast. When they were done a mausoleum to Imperial power had been left behind and the Sith Covenant had become it's caretaker. Dreams were ruined. Plans were placed into disarray. Stalwarts of the cause were killed. To Vireth she was the last survivor. Alas, the Final Dawn served as the last bastion for Imperialism. She had been convinced to serve it.

Perhaps the dream had not died. Just changed by the irrevocable force of the dark-side itself.

Distracted from their self-lamentation Vireth lifted their gaze upwards as the lift doors opened and unsealed to expose the bridge. Marching across the threshold and over the walkway overlooking the dozen stations scattered beneath her, Vireth traversed the space between the lift and towards the viewing-port where Sector Commander Myra Vanek stood overseeing the operation on Murkhana. When she was close enough Vireth stopped just behind Vanek and stood at a quiet attention as she waited for her new superior to address them when they were ready.

The stars beyond the bridge viewport drifted in disciplined silence while the illusion of disorder unfolded precisely as intended. Across Myra Vanek’s assigned section of the blockade, the formation appeared imperfect. One corridor between patrol vectors remained just wide enough to tempt desperation. Civilian traffic had already learned to avoid it. Smugglers and frightened refugees hesitated near it.

But the transports now accelerating toward the opening were neither. Three vessels broke formation from the larger exodus pattern almost simultaneously. A modified freighter. A courier ship. An old transport burning harder than its engines comfortably allowed. They moved not with panic, but purpose. Myra’s eyes narrowed slightly. There you are.

”Commander Vanek,” an ensign at one of the monitoring stations spoke up. ”We have several ships making for the gaps in our formation. What…”

Myra gave a soft guttural growl and raised a finger. ”You are thinking fleet strategy Ensign. You are assigned to an intelligence vessel now. Under the intelligence commander.”

The last part wasn’t official in the hierarchy of the Final Dawn, but as of now Myra was in command of the only sector command that mattered. Mon Cala, Mahporeem, Crucival, Seylott and Uchinao could handle their own intelligence until some collusion between the six regional warlords could be made official. When that day happened there would be a need for a central Director. For now the Sector Commander responsible for Cholganna was the most important person in the Politorate, and that person was Myra Vanek.

”The Captains of the other ships in the fleet know what their orders are. If you need me to send you back to Cholganna to learn intelligence strategies during a blockade let me know,” Myra sighed before continuing. ”In the short term here is the gist of it. The navy will herd and chase the common escapee. That is fine they can coral them and make them prisoners. We want information. The bold will see an opportunity to escape. When they jump, we intercept. Instead of thousands of sheep waiting to be sorted out, we have the select few who might be worthy of an interrogation.”

The arrival of the newest recruit to Vanek’s team brought a sly smirk to Myra’s lips. ”Isn’t that right Agent Vireth?” Myra said it almost as a whisper.

The new agent was far more advanced than her rank suggested. Vireth’s file may have been severely lacking in information, but Myra’s experience told her that Vireth was one to keep close. What Myra wasn’t sure of yet was if she needed to keep Vireth close for mutual advancement, or to protect herself from a future betrayal. At the moment it mattered not.

The tactical display shifted. The fleeing ships committed fully to the corridor. Exactly on schedule. ”Now Ensign you will see closure pattern Aurek,” Myra stated calmly.

The response was immediate. The corvettes Cold Mercy and Silent Vector ignited their engines first, sweeping inward from opposite vectors like trap jaws closing. Farther out, the Iron Revenant adjusted its position with brutal efficiency, its broad silhouette sliding across the stars to seal retreat lanes before the transports even realized the geometry of the blockade had changed.

Then came the electronic warfare. Signals collapsed. IFF transponders flickered. Navigation telemetry distorted just enough to induce hesitation. One of the transports attempted to veer away too late and found itself staring directly into the illuminated hull of the Iron Revenant emerging from sensor shadow.

No firing solution was needed. No dramatic exchange. Only inevitability. “Target vessels are attempting emergency course corrections,” one of the bridge officers announced.

Myra folded her hands behind her back once more. “And now they panic.” The courier ship tried to spool its hyperdrive. The Veiled Signal immediately disrupted the jump calculations. A burst transmission followed from the Unspoken Verdict itself.

“Unknown transports, this is Sector Commander Myra Vanek of the Final Dawn Prolitorate. Power down your drives and prepare for inspection. Continued resistance will be interpreted as confirmation of intelligence value.” Silence lingered for several seconds. Then one by one, the vessels powered down. A faint smile touched Myra’s lips as boarding craft launched from beneath the frigate. Not prisoners. Opportunities.

“Agent Vireth, care to greet our newest guests?” Vanek asked coyly.

FINAL DAWN
MURKHANA, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

So far, the battle was going as one would expect from this type of confrontation. The local defence fleet had begun reorganizing itself and was starting to better coordinate its forces, even managing to get a squadron of interceptors to break through the Imperial TIE Fighter Screen and launch a futile attack against Admiral Mimkin's flagship. Still, they were fighting a losing battle, and it wouldn't be long before they were eventually overwhelmed and scattered.

Already, more Imperial forces were joining the fray, including the Resurgent-Class Star Destroyer Avenger, whose commanding officer, Admiral Odile Demetrian, had arrived on behalf of an old friend of Sularen's ; Lord Indomitus, better known as Aurelian Sigismund. While they hadn't always seen eye-to-eye, Sularen still respected the Zakuulan's dedication to the Imperial cause, which rivalled his own. His support for the Final Dawn would be crucial in ensuring a successful rise to power and proper consolidation of Imperialism in the Outer Rim.

"It's nice to hear that Lord Indomitus is still around these days, and I do look forward to meeting him once more," Sularen responded through the comms. Shifting his attention back towards the battlefield, Sularen took note of the local defence fleet that sought to defend Murkhana. They were outgunned and outnumbered, a brittle fleet that would crack at the slightest pressure. Until now, the Imperials had played it safe, but now, with their desperation and hopelessness in full display, it was time to end this confrontation.

Thus, upon opening a channel with Admirals Mimkin and Demetrian, Sularen relayed his next orders. "All Ships, begin rapid advance upon the enemy formation. I want our fighters to exploit the gaps in their formations and for our bombers to begin hitting their light ships and their escorts," he instructed. A simple order, but there was no need to execute any fancy maneuvers for such a pathetic excuse of a defence fleet. The Imperial Fleet would prevail, and their blockade would be imposed, no matter how hard the locals fought back.

As per Sularen's instructions, the capital ships of Wraith Squadron began to push forward, joining Radiance Squadron as they moved in to sweep aside the local fleet. The Politorate were free to continue their own separate operations as they saw fit, capturing those who were bold enough to attempt an escape to extract information from them or turn them into their own brainwashed agents. But now the priority was to either annihilate the enemy fleet or force them to ground and firmly establish the blockade over Murkhana.

Nimian recognized almost every one of his officers and senior enlisted, KV-027 stood out almost immediately from those men. He clocked her as part of an attache almost immediately. It was impossible to hide the way his tired eyes scanned her form. He had his doubt that such a short and thin woman could keep up with his veteran troops. Evidently she had to have some kind of competence if she was being attached to a frontline unit...

"Next steps are to move forward with the objective, take the city and try to keep as much of it intact as we can. It will be a huge propaganda win if we can take the main hubs without glassing them. No matter how easy that would make my job..."

Nimian guided 027 over to a holotable that showed a map of the entire city, a red line moving from street to street until it hit a seemingly heavily fortified factory. This was the Tannen Ironworks building, a major target for the 219th. This objective needed to be taken before anything else could be done on the planet. He would entrust it to KV, and his first company, a unit that was especially brutal in their execution.

"Tannen Ironworks, the number one producer of metals on the planet. The enemy have turned it into a strongpoint, one that is could slow the advance of our troops. Command wants this obstacle removed with minimal damage to the facilities. I've been trying to get in touch with the fleet, but no luck so far."

Nim looked over to 027, pointing to the route ahead of them. "I'll be attaching you to my 1st company, You'll be working with 3rd Platoon directly. Staff Sergeant Morita will be leading them into battle. Are there any questions?"

He didn't expect her to have much to say, troopers weren't usually the talkative types. Instead he turned his back to her, planning out the movements of his units. Every inch of city would no doubt be a fight, so expecting the worst was the smartest option. He would try again to get in touch with Saone Nola-bay Saone Nola-bay for air support from the fleet. A rocket barrage from his ground support aircraft would soften the defenses up well.

Hopefully those rockets were low yield enough to not flatten the factory, or it would be Nim's ass on the line...

"Isn't that right Agent Vireth?"

The question was understood to be rhetorical and therefore went unanswered. Vireth wasn't the type to make conversation whether they be with their superiors or inferiors alike. It came as a consequence for a curriculum designed to create a model pupil for the Imperial cause that had been aligned to a destiny that would see to the collapse of the once great stewards (and protectors of the Galaxy) that had been a great Galactic Alliance turned into a consecrated Galactic Empire.

Before the Core fell again into the clutches of the Sith.

To the Gods came the reward of the spoils and war. Yes, there was a conflict stirring in the vulnerable cyborg. Indoctrination disguised as religion and purpose told this woman that the Sith were Gods who walked among us and seated above all of them was the great and almighty Galactic Emperor. Yet, reality came into conflict with these superstitions. From what design did this all amalgamate to in the end?

Sularen spoke of finality and what he said resonated with the Imperial within. A Final Dawn to fall upon the great many enemies to the Imperial cause. It was an intoxicating prospect which eroded the corruption and conflict within born out of a cult who worshipped not just the dark-side but also the late Darth Solipsis. Where things did not make sense there was, at the very least, a purpose when it came to the restoration of the galaxy.

Vireth had been too young to serve in the earlier campaigns to take back the Core. Old enough to see the culmination of the fruits, labour and conspiracies that had seen to the end of the corrupt and decadent Galactic Alliance. What would she see next with these eyes that her late, great master had bestowed upon one of his supplicants?

Quietly Vireth missed the prostration and reverence of it all.

Myra Vanek said:
"Agent Vireth, care to greet our newest guests?"

"It will be done at once, Commander," Vireth replied.

Thoughts eroded themselves again back into duty. It would feel good again to move and focus on something else other than this lamentation born from defeat.

Mere minutes after Vanek gave the order a request came to the bridge where permission was asked to launch a squadron on an intercept course for the transports that were attempting to evade and subsequently fleeing the Imperial blockade.

Outside the thick transparisteel, the Murkhana defense fleet had reduced their speed as they modified their strategies, having found their assaults thwarted by the greater firepower of his fleet. They appeared to be retreating toward the planet to enter its outer gravity well. Their strategy was likely to lure the Imperial starfighter screens closer, where their agility would be restricted, enabling them to eliminate each wing while the others fell behind.

Vortigern moved himself away from the window to a nearby terminal, his feet spread apart to brace himself against the turbolasers hitting his shield systems. His right hand was tucked into the side pocket of his uniform jacket, twisting a damp gold-trimmed hand towel into a tight knot. He placed a free hand on his forehead, catching the heavy drops of sweat before they could spoil his carefully styled mustache.

Across the bridge, the air felt thin, vibrating with the static of a dozen overlapping battle channels. Vice Admiral Krennel stood hunched over a terminal, his head tilted slightly to the side as he processed the influx of transmissions. He shifted his weight, his fingers dancing across the interface, carving out a new firing solution. Beside him, a communications officer relayed the Avenger's positioning data.

Krennel kept his eyes down as he signaled the fleet. His commands were brief, consisting of a sequence of minor adjustments aimed at restraining the Imperial starfighter squadrons before they reached the gravity horizon in order to conserve manpower. He was uncertain about Supreme Commander Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen plan to charge in without having all the necessary information, but he chose not to voice his concerns over the transmission line.

Vortigern caught his reflection in the terminal with his lips being pressed into a thin, white line. He pulled the hand towel from his pocket, folding it with deliberate, shaking precision until it was nothing more than a small, dry square, then tucked it away once more.

From the hangars, TIE Supremacies launched, two screening squadrons to cover the approach of the Avenger to the battleline. More were made ready and bombers prepared to launch as well, bringing the full arsenal of the imperial vessel to bear. The bridge's lights turned red as everyone went to battle stations, properly joining the blockade of Murkhana.

Upon reaching maximal firing range, the Resurgence started firing. Turbolaser started blasting at several of the enemy ships that were closest, its weapons clearly aiming at the escorts and small vessels that were the biggest danger to a bomber run, taking as much anti-starfighter power out as possible.

The ship joined the Final Dawn battle line, coming up next to Mimkin's and Krennel's vessel that were doing precisely what Demetrian intended. He had little interest to lose starfighters and experienced pilots to attack vessels that were built to hunt and defend against such. The starfighters remained nearby and bombers still waited. Yet the moment the Avenger joined the battle line . . . . it did not stop there.

While the enemy had the potential to take out the Imperial starfigthers, they would have a lot more trouble taking out a star destroyer that covered them. The escalation was either opening up a hole for the starfighters to slip through or make the enemy scatter and lose their firepower focus, for they would most likely not risk exchanging broadsides with a battleship.

"Reinforce shields. Divert from engine power. Minimal ahead." The calm voice of Demetrian echoed just to be repeated by the ship's captain who managed the ship on the tactical level.
