- Hail of Bullets - While ammunition is often heavy compared to blaster power cells, the FAE/W-14 has a large capacity for a slugthrower. Plenty of firepower is left at the user's disposal.
- Modularity - The FAE/W-14 can take a wide variety of ammunition types, allowing the weapon to be tailored to almost any given situation. It can also be mounted on shoulder or back-mounted hardpoints.
- Ammunition Weight - Pound for pound, energy weapons are generally more efficient than slugthrowers. Unfortunately, the FAE/W-14 LMG is no exception to this. In general, only a few ammunition belts can be carried at a time and users not wearing power armor sometimes need assistance when carrying especially large loads.
- Mechu-deru - Like any piece of technology, the FAE/W-14 LMG is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the shooter vulnerable.
- EMP/Ion - A bevy of electronic subsystems are incorporated into the FAE/W-14 LMG, including a few to aid in controlling the weapons recoil. EMP/Ion-base assaults can knock out these subsystems, thereby making the weapon marginally more difficult to control, in addition to disabling the electronic targeting aids.
Filling the place of a light machine gun in First United Astral Engineering’s armament catalog, the FAE/W-14 LMG is a heavy slugthrower designed to deliver a withering hail of fire. While often considered to be primitive design, the FAE/W-14 optimizes the machine gun concept and molds it to the demands of a modern battlespace. Its modular nature allows the user to take a wide variety of ammunition types. The FAE/W-14 can also be mounted on a shoulder or back hardpoint, though this can make it more difficult and time-consuming to reload the weapon.
Ultimately, it is hoped that the FAE/W-14 fills a strong place as a dangerous fire support weapon, to become an indispensable option for any given engagement.
