Faction Owner Nominations

This has been coming for a while now.

Before any weird theories pop up, I've been thinking about this for pretty much all of 2025. I've talked to various friends across the board about it as well because I've been very on the fence about it. But I've finally decided what I want to do now.

The tl;dr is that I'm stepping down as the GA's MFO and away from being Faction staff.

I've been part of faction staff in one form or another for about 4 years now. It has been an awesome time and one I absolutely don't step away from all bitter and negative. I've helped make this Faction very successful with teams of great people, and on a personal level, I've been able to achieve some really memorable RP moments. Especially when I compare it to the 4 years of RP I did in Swtor and how little of that I value now.

That said, I don't have that same passion anymore. My posting activity might not show it, but I've been struggling with my muse, especially on the faction admin front. And the main reason is simply that I've been doing this for too long. On top of that, my RL has gotten much busier with other hobbies. I'm taking lessons with two instruments, I'm playing more sports and as of yesterday, I'm going to be coaching a women's soccer team.

Fun stuff but all of it demands time and a lot of my passion.

So what's next?

I don't plan to leave Chaos and I will likely still post a shit ton. But with more of a focus on stories I want to tell, and I do like helping folks out with Jedi threads. That won't change, but I want to leave the Faction ownership to someone who has a lot of passion for running the GA and playing the map game.

And perhaps in the future, I'll take on new projects as well. I'm always open to ideas if they grab my muse.

Thanks for all the great years and I'll see you all in the upcoming faction stories!

With my rambling out of the way, onto the more practical things.
  • The next three days, you can nominate others or yourself to become the next MFO for the GA in this thread.
  • Writers must accept a nomination or they don't count.
  • After the nominations, there will be a period of a week where members of the GA can vote on the next MFO.

That leaves me with one last thing. I want to personally nominate Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn as the next MFO for the GA. She understands the map game, has ideas for the Faction and she's very passionate to continue its success.

I believe she has what it takes to keep the GA going strong, and I hope the rest of the team will be ready to assist her as well.

Not for nothing, but you did a good job. Better than I think anyone else could have given the circumstances. You were handed the keys of an old faction, more or less, and saw it through a period of time that was fairly inactive in regards to faction activity. Board was active, sure, but it was a real struggle to get a story running. I mean, what else was going to follow the Hyperspace war. GA gained so many new writers that it almost became an entirely new faction. It almost had a rebirth of sorts, and while many people were responsible for that, your hand was on the wheel.

On a more personal note, it was hard for me to leave GA staff. Like, I wanted nothing more than to help out and do good by everyone. Haley for reaching out initially, Civil who kind of latched himself to that wagon for the long haul. I could really go on and on about lots of folks, but I think mostly I wanted to do everything I could to help you. I don't know if I would have spent two years on GA staff if you hadn't been so enthusiastic about getting me integrated into the NJO. I'm sure lots of people had Valery as there first Jedi thread, but that makes a real impact. There were lots of reasons why it was difficult to finally make the decision to step away, but you were no small part.

BUT it is a hobby, real life is important, and passion is important. You can't be happy if you're burnt out. I think I found that out the hard way. So I applaud you for making that decision, but more importantly I want to thank you for everything you've done to steer the ship.

Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn if Val says you're up to the task you got my vote.

Sorry for getting a lil sappy on y'all. Have a good night.

Well, that’s some news to wake up to.

In all seriousness though, thank you Val for the dedication you’ve put into the faction. You’ve kept the GA strong for the last four years which is quite an achievement and elevated the characters within it.

At the end of the day, RL always comes first so it’s completely understandable why you want to step away. Everyone else would do the same if they wanted to focus on something they love.

Again, thanks for everything.

My vote will also fall in line with the others in regards to Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn :)

To echo what Silas said, quite the news to wake up to. But a very understandable one at that.

I haven’t been part of Staff for that long, but have been active within the GA those past 4 years. It’s not an easy thing to lead a Major Faction for so long, especially one as large and has a storied history like the Galactic Alliance.

You’ve been an amazing MFO, and have been the spearhead that created something fantastic. But nothing lasts forever, and as the old RP adage goes: IRL always comes first.

Better to step down when you know the passion and muse is dwindling, than drag it out further.

Will miss you as our MFO, but glad to know you’re still sticking with Chaos. You’ve been a brilliant presence on the board, and so immensely welcoming to both newcomers, and those that had burned out before and struggled to find their muse.

Here’s to future stories, and whatever you may end up creating in the future!

My nomination also goes to Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn

Wasn't expecting to wake up to this but hey. Surprises come in all shapes and sizes.

First off, thank you for being the MFO. You've been amazing and I know for a fact that I wouldn't be here on site if it wasn't for you reaching out to get some threads planned. You've always been a role model to me with the effort you've put into the board and into the GA.

As Kat said, IRL always come first at the end of the day though. And I hope all of the instruments and sports stuff goes well. I can't wait to see what stories you work on in the future!

My nomination also goes to Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn . I can't think of anyone better in the GA

I sit on the relativly new side with Chaos. When I joined, Valery was the first one to reach out to me and made me feel so welcome. I couldn't have asked for a better leader and friend through my early months here. She was the one who encouraged me to join staff when I was a bit on the fence of whether or not It was a good idea, and while I may end up having to pull back a lot with the management side of things myself when the fall semester starts because of the intense workload I'll have, I still fully trust her judgment.

Everyone deserves a break, especially you Valery Noble Valery Noble , and you know what that gives you more time to finish out the training of this stimky padawan haha <3

I can't say I know much about this process or even who would be best to nominate as this would be my first time seeing it, so I won't break against the crowd and will go ahead with Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn as well. She's definitely got the attitude to fire through what we're being currently faced with.

I've been on here a long time, and I've never seen a Faction Owner lead with such passion and consistent activity for so long without a break, and with no controversies to boot. You deserve everything good in this world. I led the Silver Jedi way back in the day for three years, and I'm glad you chose to step down before burning out, unlike myself.

As I am not an actual member of the Alliance, I leave my vote blank as for who should fill your shoes. I'm sure whoever it ends up being, they'll honour you in all that they do.

I take it Valery Noble Valery Noble and Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble retain their IC titles and roles within the faction? Or are they also due for a well-earned retirement?

...huh. Well, I'll admit, this comes as a bit of a shock.

Val, you've done everything for the GA, kept this ship afloat through all of my time on the board, and made it so my cast of characters has had a stable place to grow and thrive since I joined this mad place of wonder.

I salute whatever you do going forward, and hope you stick around for years to come.

All that said, if Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn is the choice for new MFO, I'll back them.

However, I'd like to also throw my own hat in the ring if possible. I've been on two faction staffs now, been helping keep the GA going for over a year now, and have plenty of ideas for the future direction of the faction.

Godspeed Val, you're one of the greats.

While we may have had our disagreements in the past about many things.

I can confidently say that you have brought the Galactic Alliance to new heights and have worked some and participated in some amazing stories with various factions I have been apart of from the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, the Dark Empire, and the New Imperial Order/The Empire.

While it is always sad to see a Major Faction Owner step down from their duty to their members.

Just know that I always enjoyed our stories and will back Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn nomination to be the New MFO.

Valery Noble Valery Noble you've brought the Galactic Alliance to its current point through dedication, continued effort, and activity. If anyone has earned the right to step back, relax, and enjoy the character side of Chaos, it is you.

Thank you for the support, and confidence in backing me for the Major Faction Owner position, it means a great deal that you would trust me with the Galactic Alliance.

I would also like to thank you for your support, as well as wish you luck in your endeavor to become the next Galactic Alliance MFO.

With all of that said, I graciously, and humbly accept the nomination to become the new MFO of the Galactic Alliance, and if chosen, hope that I will be able to accomplish as much, if not more, as Valery has.

Thank You
