OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create an Marine Corps for the Elysium Empire Navy
  • Permissions: (X)
  • Links: RP: A Soaring Investment

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Army Name: Elysium Empire Navy Marine Corps
  • Classification: Naval Marine Corps
  • Affiliation: Elysium Empire
  • Army Symbol: No special symbols are assigned as of yet, but all marines bear the Crest Of The Purple Lion on their shoulders
  • Description: The Elysium Marines are the cream of the crop amongst infantrymen in the Elysium Empire. They are considered a branch of the navy as opposed to the army and are tasked with protecting the fleet. Their armour comes in a wide variety of colours and camouflages as needed, but they all bear the crest of the Purple Lion on their shoulders. Officers have a different helmet that is hard to distinguish from regular helmets at a distance, but easy to distinguish up close.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: HMS Utopia
  • Goals: Elysium Marine Corps is trained to fight as an elite unit in all environments. Particularly, however, marines are specialized in zero-to-low “g”s combat and fighting inside spaceship corridors. They are trained to use their jetpacks efficiently and are particular about fuel consumption so that they don’t get stranded. When in between engagements, Elysium Marine Corps Officers struggle to keep their troops from causing mischief. Given their considerable training and dedication to the Elysium Empire, they carry themselves with pride and can be a little arrogant from time to time.
  • Reputation: Known for being fiercely loyal to the Elysium Navy. Deadly and well trained. When idle in between engagements, they train to maintain their combat effectiveness, but are also known to cause shenanigans when left alone for too long. When they are on the battlefield, they are deadly, but are also considered to be the “Fun guys” to fight beside.
    • Also they have jet packs. ‘Nuff said.

COMPOSITION INFORMATION

MEMBERS
Entirely unnamed NPCs for now. Open for PC members as requested.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Elysium Marine Corps was created to provide protection for the Elysium Fleet at the recommendation of Admiral Keatoch. Force Commander Burtch assisted in the creation of this division by investing in MandalArms projects to create exclusive products for the Elysium Marine Corps.

This mostly checks out, however, you won't be able to include the line highlighted in red:

Equipment:

Equipment and accessories must be listed in the submission if you intend to formally codify these marines. If you wish to edit it later and add things in as you make them you are more than welcome to via submission modifications, however, with the respect to potential PVP situations intended equipment must be shown. If there is nothing else to add: Any and all standard issue Elysium Empire weapons and accessories. Can be removed.

You've also smashed the NPC and the Army Template together.

Ex.)

You can add fields, however, keep the table for the "Combat Units" in mind if you're adding equipment and using the NPC terminology. If a combat unit, which is generally much smaller than 50K, is restricted to the table, an Army Submission would be as well.

If you choose to keep the "Army Size" at "Medium" I will accept items from "Minor" production but be careful not to go beyond that. Especially, if you change the "Army Size" to anything above "Medium".

Please let me know if this makes sense or if you have any questions.

Srina Talon Srina Talon is the size for medium on an army sub similar to medium on a combat unit sub? Or is it simply relative to the size of a faction’s military?

also, still putting some equipment together. Just need a survival kit and a sidearm.

No, unfortunately, it's not exact.

An Army is generally much larger in scale, so, if the NPC Combat Unit Template states that Medium is "Moderately sized units, often specialized" and Large is "many individuals, often compromising the rank and file" than an Army has even more to consider.

That's why it becomes difficult to add the NPC parts to the Lore Template such as weapons. It's more a place to describe the overall feel/history of the Army rather than adding equipment. Experience and whatnot aren't such a big deal because they are fairly objective and could just be part of the description. You actually have several different compositions listed that could really use different weapon productions (Ex. A group of 10? You could really spice them up as an NPC w/weapons and armor of a higher production.) because of their varying sizes. Each one of them could really be their own NPC Submission and you can use them to cater to your needs.

Looking completely objectively, IMO, an Army of 50K isn't really "medium" - If anything, I'd say it's "Large" at a bare minimum.

Two Good Options:

1.) Remove the Equipment from the Army Submission and create NPC Units for your Compositions (This way it is straight forward and there's no confusion over what "part" of the Army can use what equipment).

2.) Continue on using equipment that is either Minor or Mass-Produced, as long, as it is listed. The definition of minor is: Minor (Large groups of characters. (IE: A Single Major Faction, a few companies, or groups.) so I would let that pass. However, be careful not to go beyond that. If your numbers are raised or the quantity abused in an RP Setting you will need to switch them to mass-produced.

Apologies for being wordy - Just hoping to explain thoroughly.

Feel free to tag me if you have more questions or want me to look again.
