Quintessa could feel the Jedi’s presence. He was close.

“He should be here soon. Make sure everything is in order.” The tiny Asa’nyx said to one of the cultists—a hulking Myrmidon with a heavy blaster rifle strapped to his back. However, instead of his usual dark tunic, hood, and mask he wore military-style fatigues and a half-faced helmet with goggles to shield his eyes. He, like all of the other cultists there, was disguised as a nondescript anti-Empire Rebel—a freedom fighter waging a war against the lingering tyranny of the dying husk of a once proud, yet ultimately corrupt Empire.

The small, mobile camp the group had set up just outside of the caves was nondescript, yet functional. Speeder bikes were parked in a clearing. In the same area, the smell of cooked meat lingered in the air, with “Rebels” seated to eat while engaged in hushed conversation. All the while, a few guards tirelessly patrolled the perimeter, on the lookout for intruders and scouts.

With a deep breath, Quintessa glanced down at the bracelets she had on her left arm, just behind her gauntlet. A normal-sized individual would only have been able to wear them on their wrist. Fortunately, due to the Acolyte’s tiny frame, she was able to fit them on her biceps quite easily. However, their aesthetic value belied their true purpose as miniaturized Force dispersers, intended to conceal Quintessa’s true nature from the Jedi’s prying senses.

While it went without saying that Quintessa felt uneasy about seeking out help from a Jedi, the order to do so had come from above. There was an unstated requirement to use him for the duration of the mission, then to dispose of or convert him as the situation demanded.

“Everything is in order, my Lady.” The Myrmidon answered with a bow, a few moments after Quintessa had given her order.

“Good. I do not anticipate that he will keep us waiting.” She finished.

This was not Aedrics mission, or it'd be more accurate to say, it probably shouldn't have been. A combination of dumb luck and a bit of begging had afforded Aedric the opportunity to go on a mission by himself after he had overheard a pair of older Jedi discussing it. They had reasoned a Padawan could handle a small raid, especially with the back up of the rebels. It was exciting though, for Aedric, as Epicanthix were meant to be good in combat, and this was Aedrics chance to finally test his own abilities in an actual fight.

As the ship, which had been granted to Aedric solely for this mission, set down just outside of the camp. He took a few moments before he disembarked, waiting to see if any nerves would set it. If they had, he would have wanted to dispel them prior to meeting the Rebels, as first impressions were always important.

Aedric quickly made his way towards the camp, which was only a short walk away, his training saber very visibly swinging at his hip. As he approached, he rose his hands, ensuring that his approach was noticed, and wouldn't be mistaken as someone sneaking up.

"Where do you want me?" He asked the first rebel he came across, who simply pointed towards a small figure in the distance. Aedric nodded his thanks, and made his way over towards Quintessa. "Are you the leader? I was sent to help."

"Are you the leader? I was sent to help."

“I’m humbled.” Quintessa said in a soft, sickly-sweet tone, her eyes widening with relief as she took in the strong Jedi warrior towering over her comparatively tiny form. “We are grateful for your presence, Master Jedi. A dangerous issue came up recently, that we need assistance with, or else we fear our cell may be doomed.” She continued, feigning ignorance of the Jedi rank structure.

“Disruptors.” She stated, in simple, blunt terms. “The local Warlord managed to get a hold of the weapons through the black market. If you’ll follow me.” With that, Quintessa led the Jedi to the clearing at the center of the camp, the smell of cooked food still lingering in the air.

“If you’d like, feel free to help yourself to some food, but eat quickly. Oh, I’m Quintessa, by the way!” She pointed to the nearby field kitchen, where a pair of cooking droids were working over various meals. Since she wasn’t famous by any means, the Asa’nyx didn’t feel uncomfortable using her real name. Perhaps one day that would change, but for now, she was relatively unknown. Nevertheless, once the Jedi returned (or declined the food) Quintessa pulled up a projection from the device on her gauntlet, displaying the schematics of the disruptors the Imperial Warlord had managed to purchase.

“These are particle beam disruptor rifles. Very, very dangerous hardware. 500 meters effective range. One shot will vaporize a heavily-armored man-sized target. They eat tibanna and power packs like a nerf eats grass, but that’s not a problem if you have enough of them.” She began. “A shipment carrying these weapons is passing through these floodplains within the hour, via hovertrain. We intend to intercept it.” With a thought, Quintessa pulled up the schematics of the hovertrain in question, as well. “My source says that there will be four crates with 25 rifles each, so 100 rifles in total. That said, the train is also carrying some heavy weapons which we would like to secure, but our first priority is those disruptors.”

Then, Quintessa offered a strained, yet relieved smile.

“Do you have any questions, Master Jedi?”

Master Jedi was certainly a new term to Aedric, but he wasn't quick to correct it. He actually seemed to stand more upright, a small, almost proud, grin on his face.

"Alright." was all that he said, falling back into silence as he followed after her. The smell of food hit Aedric quite hard, all attempts at professionalism falling apart as his stomach audibly rumbled. "Aedric, pleased to meet you."
Cedric returned the greeting, before making a quick bee-line to the food tent to grab a serving. He returned just as quickly as he had ran off, looking quite sheepish as he took a bite out of his food.

As she pulled up the schematics, and began to describe the gun, he leant in, listening intently. His mission was to destroy them, but that really seemed like a shame. Would the Jedi notice if one of those 100 weapons was to be lost in the destruction? Probably wasn't worth the risk, no matter how much he wanted one.

"Just the one question, I think. What's the plan for intercepting this hovertrain? I don't imagine anything escorting weapons is likely to stop for much."

"Just the one question, I think. What's the plan for intercepting this hovertrain? I don't imagine anything escorting weapons is likely to stop for much."

Quintessa took a deep breath.

“Six speeder bikes, grappling spike launchers...” She answered, before gesturing to the row of 74-Zs nearby. “And one landspeeder, which we are very lucky to have.” Indeed, the poor state of the machine lent credence to the tiny Asa’nyx’s words.

With that, Quintessa pulled up a new screen on her OmniLink’s holoprojector, showing a map of the floodplains.

“The floodplains are a big region, so it will take the train some time to cross them. We intend to intercept the train just as it enters the plains, at which point we will grapple aboard and make our way to the locomotive, where we will take control of the train. From there, we’ll move towards the cargo area and seize the disruptor shipment.” She finished.

All the while, the Rebels were already getting ready, with many checking over their equipment for the last time. A few minutes later, repulsor engines started to hum to life, at which point Quintessa placed two fingers beneath her left ear, her gaze widening as she listened to an incoming transmission.

It was time.

“That’s our cue, Master Jedi.” She said to the brownish-black-haired teen, briefly taking in his handsome, yet distinct features as she did. Was he an Epicanthix? Quintessa was quite familiar with the species, if only for the fact that they were ubiquitous on Malsheem and among the Zambrano household.

“Can you ride?” Quintessa asked. She would have taken a bike herself, but none of the 74-Zs had any modifications which would allow her feet to reach the pedals.

"Right." Aedric nodded along with her explanation, his gaze following her point towards the speeders. "That works with me, I guess." He did have some worries about grappling hooks, having never used them before, nor been taught to use them, but for the moment he kept those reservations to himself.

"Do you know what's likely to be guarding the train?" He glanced round at all of the rebels finishing their checks, ensuring to do a quick check of his own, which simply consisted of ensuring the saber was still sat on his hip. "Also, how confident are you in everyone succeeding at the grappling? Just hypothetically, how bad is it if someone were to miss?" The question wasn't quite as subtle as Aedric had hoped, likely betraying some of his own fears on the matter.

“Can you ride?”

"Uh.." He glanced over at the bikes for a few moments, before eventually walking over, and lowering himself onto one. "In theory, sure." He nodded. He reached forwards, grabbing the handles and settling into the seat. In theory was a generous term for his knowledge, but he was confident enough in his abilities to learn on the fly. "Are you riding with someone? I think you'd be really stretching to drive one yourself." which was just about the nicest way he could word it. Her height did, and general appearance did make him quite curious as to what species she was, as he couldn't recall having met anyone who really resembled her.
