Wow. I get off of work and find a great deal of... whatever's going on in this thread.
I've read through it, and it seems that there is a great deal of concern over OOC agendas and the belief that the IC actions of one thread can negate the IC actions of another thread.
Honestly, I'm fairly disappointed that it's come to this. The Danger Will Robinson thread and the reaction that it received went a great deal towards inspiring me to start writing on chaos again. (that, and the new movie... which is amazing.) I've been able to have my character respond to an IC threat to his company via political lobbying and military action and I'm getting the opportunity to spearhead an invasion and help direct the flow of the story arc involved with said invasion. For me, that's a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Mando/GR Invasion thread and have great hopes for it.
The thing is though... The IC reaction was immediate. Within the hour of Larraq receiving notice that elements within the GR were seizing corporate assets, Larraq was on a shuttle making his way into the Mandal Hypernautics Command Ship that's always on standby for his use, all the while orchestrating a meeting of the Alor Council via holomessage and sending emails to other corporate leaders. The moment those negotiations were completed, the Mandal Hypernautics, Clan Dem'adas, Tenloss, and AEI fleets began moving towards Roche, along with a number of additional corporate and clan military assets.
That's a fairly immediate reaction to an IC event. Even if an entire string of threads were started and completed by the Republic in the OOC time it took me to gain FA approval to launch an invasion, the IC chain of events is occurring near simultaneously. And... Time is a very fluid thing on a play-by-post roleplay. Simply due to the nature of the game... Everything happens at the same time, and at no time. The only situation in which time typically even matters is when events are sequential or simultaneous... And those are dictated by the nature of the story, not the flow of time OOC. Two months from now, the Mandalorian/GR Invasion could be finally drawing to a close, only to have the TU, GA, or OS launch their own invasion that (story wise) takes place at the same or near-same timeframe as the Mandalorian Invasion. IC? Same time. OOC? The other faction waited out of politeness to the defending faction.
Anyway... I'm tired and rambling. All I really want to say is that I hope the GR can relax, drink away 2015, and enjoy the story they have created, even if it is not the story they had intended.
