“Yes, Ms. deWinter!” Celessa replied as she caught one of Scherezade’s lightsabers from the air with a single hand. It was almost surreal for Celessa to have such a legendary and powerful weapon in the palm of her hand. The amount of trust that Scherezade was putting in her by giving the diminutive assassin one of her valuable lightsabers was almost overwhelming to Celessa, but whatever shadows lurked in the caves with them scared her yet more. As she examined the hilt, her glance came across the five power settings and she quickly set it to lethal. Seeing no point in waiting much longer, Celessa held away from her body and immediately ignited the fiery plasmatic blade. A strong wave of heat rushed into her face, but it quickly dissipated as the blade’s invisible magnetic field seemed to visually stabilize before her ruby eyes.

She had been flash-trained in the basics of swordsmanship while she was still in the growth chamber. In addition, she had practiced her skills a few times with a training blade. Even so, this would be a literal trial by fire for Celessa. She held the saber up above her head in a high guard, with the green blade primed to strike at the swarming shadow creatures with a downward sweeping slash.

The first shadow monster dashed forth, presumably intent upon ripping her face from her skull. Celessa met its advance with a vicious slash which bisected the shrieking creature from shoulder to hip. The swarm was undeterred by the death of the first one, and they advanced upon the diminutive assassin in a large mass of sharp fangs and tentacle-like limbs. Celessa assumed a side guard in preparation. When the wave came, Celessa swung her blade with all the muscle she could muster down from her right to her left with a shrill cry, cleaving through a trio of the nasty creatures and leaving their cleaved bodies a squirming mess on the hard ground.

She let loose another cry as more advanced upon her. She swung her blade once again, this time from her left to her right. Four more shrieking bodies tumbled to the ground, but one had managed to escape her blade and grab hold of her belt utility belt. Celessa screamed in abject terror, but nevertheless, she pulled her combat knife from the sheath on her thigh and stabbed the terrible creature twice in the back. Almost immediately, another took its place and Celessa stabbed that one as well. However, she felt a sharp lance of pain as one crawled up her backside and spike its foul claws into her flesh for leverage. She screamed yet louder as she blindly jabbed her knife behind her back, managing to impale the vile imp’s eye before it fell to the ground and she kicked it away.

The screeching swarm continued to rapidly beset themselves upon Celessa, and in turn the ruby-eyed warrior let loose a violently earsplitting howl as she slashed Scherezade’s fiery green blade down at the continually advancing repugnant beasts...

Before he could say anything else, Chek skootched up close to Vanric, pressing his mouth close to the two foot deep crack in the wall.

Have you seen my dad? He’s about six foot, really strong, brown hair, brown eyes and his name is Miskel! He should be down here! Do you know where he is??” Before Vanric could interject, something caught his attention in his peripherals. Black smoke was leaking through the rocks of one of the tunnels close at hand. He raised his light stick closer to it, gazing harder to discern these details. He put a concerned hand on Chek’s shoulder and tried to get his attention by muttering,

Hey, uh, Chek…” but, the kid kept talking away.

He IS down here! Can you help me look for him?! Wait, what’re those sounds? Who’s fighting?!?” Suddenly, toothy maws, snaking tendrils and bone-chilling screeches began to come forth from the same smoke; a nightmarish display, to be sure. Vanric firmly grasped a handful of the back of the kid’s shirt and hoisted him away from the crack, towards another tunnel.

We have to go, COME ON!!” ordered the marshal. Chek blustered at first, but took one quick look at the impending darkness before obeying whole-heartedly. Vanric followed, backing into the tunnel as he brandished his akimbo pistols. The safeties had long been flicked off and the dance of red bolts began. Chariot messengers of magnetic field delivered their occupants of plasma onto the insidious surge of near-ethereal monstrosities. His fingers played a flurry rhythm of fury and death, but it did little to dissuade the ravenous charge. His fingers came to a rest as he turned tail to follow after Chek, occasionally firing behind him as he quickly took the lead and led the young boy down this way and that.

Chek was grateful for the guidance of the marshal, blissfully unaware that Vanric was winging it and could lead them down a disastrous dead end at any time. Vanric, remaining a few strides forward at most times, suddenly skid to a stop in front of a hole that had snuck up on them past the edges of the ambient light. Chek, not having the benefit of his own light and fueled by fearful desperation, didn’t know to slow at all. He collided into the back of the marshal and the two fell down the hole in a tangle of bodies and exclamations.

Objective: BYOO (Steal financial information and murder billionaire)

The young man that the biot had kidnapped worked quickly. For all he had done to lie to get in to this place, the shuttle actually was in need of repairs. With all the volcanic disturbances, equipment had been breaking down due to any one of a dozen reasons. But the one thing truly, deeply on his mind now, was making sure he lived past today.

The guards stood watch over him in the hangar as he nervously worked, weapons trained on him at all times. He had been working twenty minutes when the lights went out. The guards turned on the flashlights on their rifles in confusion. He didn't move, almost too scared as the guards checked on comms with other sections of the estate. There was no response. The man the Biot had kidnapped involuntarily whimpered.

"No response..." one of the guards said, worried. "Something is jamming our communications...real close, too...

The hired killers began to move around the hangar, prepared to shoot anything out of place. The kidnapped man stopped working, retreated into the shuttle, shutting and locking the hatch, frantically looking for anything that could be used as a weapon. He found only a simple mining laser at twenty percent charge, shaped like a pistol. He did not move when the outside beyond the shuttle viewport went black and he saw something, flit across the port like a shadow. The down on his luck mining employee went still, like a mouse when it hears the nearby hiss of a snake. He heard a scream and flinched when he saw blood hit the cockpit viewport.

The man didn't have much time. But he had experience with tools, and plenty of fear to motivate him to improvise. That creature, whatever it was, would kill him. He hadn't even seen the creature. But he knew in his bones it wanted him dead, not for any actual reason, but simply because he was there.

He looked through the rest of the shuttle, finding a rebreather and an oxygen tank, a plasma torch, some sonic charges, and a crowbar.

There was another shriek of pain outside, then sounds of metal slashing into meat repeatedly. The mining pilot went pale when he saw and heard blaster fire, but kept frantically to his task, finding some wire and primer cord as he put on the rebreather, creating a booby-trap, the oxygen tank and the laser facing each other, linked by wire attached to the trigger just low enough to reach the ankle. It was very basic but it was all he had beyond the crowbar. He wasn't worried about whatever was killing the people outside being able to see using some enhanced vision mode...a lot of these shuttles had been made of a denser, more heat resistant alloy...that also happened to have the unexpected benefit of being highly resistant to surface penetrating enhanced visual scans...thermal or otherwise.

More blood splashed onto the cockpit viewport, followed by a piece of human vertebra. The Pilot, began frantically using the torch to cut through the cabinet doors down for any sort of armor whatsoever to shield himself. The blaster fire stopped outside. He heard tapping on the hatch. Then from the ceiling. Everything got darker suddenly. He trembled. There was knocking on the hull. It was toying with him.

The pilot wiped beads of sweat dirtied by mining dust off his face, carefully, slowly hefted the cut off durasteel cabinet doors over his body as quietly as he could. He saw a curved vibroknife punch into the hull, slowly drag down. He was shaking. The knife punched through the hatch seal next, cutting through the lock mechanism just above where the wire had been attached to. The hatch was yanked open, pulling the trigger of the mining laser, which fired at the oxygen tank.

He didn't hear anything because of the tank blowing, felt pain as he was slammed into the back of the shuttle, felt shrapnel hit his leg and he screamed, still momentarily deaf.

Adrenaline and the will to live made him rise. The doors were sturdy, had taken most of the fragments. Half the shuttle was smoking and he could not see as he limped, then fell out of the shuttle.

He crawled, finally spotting his would be killer, a scantily clad, pale skinned red head impaled through the torso by large fragments of metal from the burst tank., white blood leaking out anto a large puddle, one of her arms torn away by the blast. She was quite clearly dead, face shredded partly by the blast. He saw sparks from some of the open wounds.

The pilot rolled over, breathing.

"Android..." he hissed in pain, feeling with wet, bloody hand the needle of metal in his thigh. "It was a fething Android..."

He saw flashlights enter the hangar. He held up his hands as laser sights were trained on him.

"Don't shoot!" The Pilot screamed at the guards. "Please don't shoot!"

An hour later...

"And thats it..." The pilot breathed as he explained to Xurol and Wolfe why he sat tied to an elaborately carved wood chair "One minute they were evacuating everyone from the work site and I forgot my ID, next minute that monster..." he trailed, pointing to the inert, blood covered woman lying dead on the large dining table in the grand kitchen.

"Next minute sge sticks a knife against my spine to make me fly the shuttle...I swear to the Gods, I had no choice--"

"--and now thirty of my men are dead..." Xurol replied sighing as he turned away from him, still dressed in his dirty jumpsuit as he looked through gold framed windows to the sea of magma outside, the heat still getting slightly through the shield.

"Of all the days for this to happen it happens when part of the planet is deciding to drown in its own blood..." he complained, looking back at the corpse.

"Android, huh?" Xurol asked, going over to the body.

"Military grade, from the looks of it..." Wolfe remarked, relieved he had dodged a serious bullet. Sure Xurol was still alive and Wolfe wasn't getting paid, but at least the one person who could tie him to the crime was dead. He was not unhappy to not resort to the other option...

"What do we do with the body?" Wolfe asked.

Xurol turned back to it.

"I wanna know who tried to kill me. 'Someone' knows who this is. Stick it in the freezer. Turn the temperature down, we don't want it freezing and destroying evidence." Xurol answered. "I'll be in my suite, Wolfe. No other strange visitors requesting landing please."

"Of course sir..." Wolfe assured his employer. He gestured to some of the gaurds to move the corpse.

"Sir! What about this man?" one asked, gesturing to the tied up pilot.

Xurol shrugged. "What's your name, son?"

"Clyde." The Pilot answered. "Clyde Sphere."

"Well Clyde, for all I know, you could be in on it. A back up plan in case this more obvious threat failed." Xurol theorized, the shrugged. "You're going in the freezer too."

Clyde whimpered as the gaurds dragged him off with the corpse.

"Keep a guard on him at all times. Don't take your eyes off him..." Xurol ordered Wolfe.

Wolfe nodded, staring at Clyde, realizing Xurol had a very good point.

Perhaps he was not in the clear as he thought...

One hour, fifty-seven minutes later.

Clyde sat freezing, keeping a distance away from the corpse, a guard training a rifle on him. He was shaking, trembling from the cold, surrounded by meats and bags of other supplies when Wolfe entered the Freezer.

"Mr. Wolfe, Sir...everything is under control here..." the guard assured him.

"Of course it is. You're doing an excellent job..." Wolfe trailed, walking up to him...and producing a vibroknife, which he shoved into the shocked guard's chest grabbing his rifle as he fell dead in front of a shocked Clyde, who backed into a shelf of frozen cakes as Wolfe put on a pair of gloves and picked up the dead man's rifle, turning to Clyde with a look of regret, not noticing that the shrapnel that had been embedded in the corpse had fallen off, melted at their entry points by slow workin but utterly effective enzymes.

"Perhaps you are telling the truth. Maybe you really are innocent. If so, I'm sorry. I'd thought Belkren would be smart enough not to pay it all upfront. No one was supposed to get hurt except Xurol...and now its all belly up. If there is even the slightest chance he's right...I can't take the risk..."

He aimed the Rifle at Clyde's head.

"Ready to die?" Xurol asked.

Not wanting to go out like a total punk, Clyde responded defiantly, even as he was shaking from fear, by blurting out, "I was born ready, motherfether."

Wolfe snorted, about to pull the trigger, when the "corpse" shot up from the ground and sank bony fangs into the screaming Wolfe, tearing into his throat, getting blood everywhere as Wolfe struggled.

Clyde watched in horror as the flesh on the biot, including its arm regrew itself as she drank, his blaster firing into the ceiling, until she callously threw him to the ground, Wolfe having been dead before he hit it.

The blood soaked woman, clad seemingly only in strategically placed bandages turned to Clyde with a grin. She walked over to him, running her hands playfully through his hair. He shuddered.

"Would you like a job?" The Biot asked.

Clyde knew by the tone that depending on his answer, he would either be alive in the next few seconds or he wouldn't.

"S-s-sure. Yes..." Clyde answered him.

"Go to the hangar, then." The biot ordered. "As of now, you are my new familiar. If you flee...I'll chase you..."

Clyde didn't need to be told twice. He ran out of the freezer.

'Alice' smiled, picking up the knife in the guard.

"Now, for you, Xurol..." the biot hissed in delight, leaving the freezer to reach Xurol now that he wasn't expecting it...and 'maybe' go on a killing spree after...

A'Rudna eyed the exhausted women, it was clear that he was pushing her. Letting out a sigh he realized that even the two of them couldn't seem to stop this force of nature. Maybe he just wasn't meant to save the village from total destruction.

Behind him the Tusken heard a loud mix of hisses and rumbling. Turning his head over his shoulder he saw movement rushing towards them. Then he turned his body to face it. It was a mudslide moving over the lava, cooling it was it when. However, as it approached the two of them and began to clash with their makeshift lava wall he became worried that it wouldn't hold. Looking back to Alwine he knew she was too tired to stop it, and A'Runda was doubtful of his own telekinetic ability.

Nonetheless he got between her and the oncoming mud slide, and when it crashed with the wall a wave of boiling hot steam rushed over to them. Which the Tusken didn't expect. "Ahhh!" He exclaimed as the hot gas surround him while he held up his hands. Yet he wasn't hurting. Looking around he saw a sort of bubble around him and Alwine. The he saw someone not too far away there was someone else holding their hands up, and was probably responsible for the protective bubble around them.

On the bright side though maybe the mudslide cooled all the lava.

When the woman took his hand, Vereshin allowed her to lean against him and helped her to stand. He was taller than her, but lacking where physical strength was concerned, so helping her to walk was slightly difficult. Once she was safely walking on her own, he helped her over to the other adventurers, who all seemed equally tense. As she thanked him, Vereshin dismissed her gratitude with a wave of his hand and smiled, baring a mouth full of black teeth in the process. He had no qualms with helping where his powers could be of use and it would not do for any of them to be slowed down by one of their own being pinned beneath a rock.

"You're welcome, my dear, it would have not done to leave you behind." Vereshin said softly, placing a hand against his chest as he accepted her thanks. "I didn't catch your name." He asked, walking over to the wall. The woman seemed to be able to walk alright and nothing was broken, which was fortunate. As she began to look around and to guess how far down they were, Vereshin placed his hands against the wall to try and sense areas where the rubble was less stable.

From the other side of the rock, Vereshin could hear voices and another woman jumped up and exclaimed that somebody else was trapped behind the rock. By the sounds of it, they had a child with them, which was less than concerning for Vereshin, who didn't care for children and would much rather have been finding a way out than helping anybody else who was stranded. He kept his thoughts to himself and continued to listen for any other sounds which might indicate a gap behind the rocks. From behind him, deep whispers stirred within their crevices, accompanied by black energy which reformed into malicious beings, the subjects of his quest beneath the volcano.

Scherezade, and the other Confederates readied their weapons, maintaining their guard as the specters formed, while Vereshin was just interested in catching one. Bringing up his hands to his chest, he twiddled his fingers and gasped in delight, then shoved a hand into his satchel, where he felt around for the tiny, pyramidal case which would use to compact one of the specters. Practically jumping around, he left the side of the wall and raced forward, only to be stopped by the confederates who stood in his way. They stepped back and gathered in front of Scherezade, who began to bark orders at everybody.

Vereshin withdrew, the smile on his mouth dropping into a displeased frown. He backed away and stood beside Ciri as he let his hand dropped, clearly unhappy about being ordered around. He shifted his eyes and turned his head, looking slyly at the woman with the injured leg from the side.

"You hear that? You're going to be with me." The sorcerer cooed.

Vereshin leaned in closely to Ciri's side and linked his arm, offering her to take it, all the while staring, fixated at the specters and repressing his urge to leap out and catch one. In time, Vereshin thought. For now, he would have to play it smoothly and do what he was told, until one of the specters, by chance attacked Ciri and himself. Holding Ciri's shoulder with other hand, he guided her backwards, away from the specters and waited for Scherezade and her comrades to subdue them. Their little mouths opened, snapping at the arms and legs of the warriors, who combated them while Vereshin kept Ciri safely out of reach.

Ms. deWinter. It was such an odd thing to be called that, and it caused Scherezade to pause. Naturally, [member="Celessa"] meant nothing that wasn't respectful by it, but it felt… Strange, to the Sithling's ears. A moment later though, she smiled at the diminutive assassin. They could iron details out later; for now, they were joined in a fight they were both to be taking part in, against shadows that had fangs.

More and more of them kept coming out of the stones, seeming to almost be oozing out of them. Scherezade grunted, feeling the blood trickle down her cheek, yet she did not stop as she continued to launch forward, her lightsaber hacking at them. But even with the Force, even with her speed enhanced by it, even with other people here to fight with her, it seemed that it was not enough. The shadows kept coming, kept multiplying, their little teeth forever trying to get at the people gathered there.

So focused was she, that she hadn't noticed. Had anyone else? The heat in the little area was rising, and not because of the energy they were expending.

But Scherezade didn't feel it. Didn't sense it. Not until the shadows began to recede back into the stone from which they came. She turned around to smile at the rest of the group, but her face froze in its place. Behind them, far enough to yet kill them, but overly dangerously close – she saw it. The yellow-red light that came from it.

There was lava coming in.

Turning her lightsaber off, the Sith darted forward towards it, raising her hands and moving them through the air in near mad-like fury. Earth was her element, and she raised the stones now, bringing them up from the ground as she worked on sealing the entrance to where they were. Sweat ran down her face and she gasped more than once before it was done, long minutes after. Would it be enough? Would it keep the lava out?

"We need to go," she gasped, "now!"

Force Users. She needed more Force Users.

"You, you," she half bellowed at [member="Vereshin"] and [member="Alkor Centaris"]. The commands were changing. Scherezade pointed at a wall on the opposite end of the one she'd just erected, "use the Force to tear that wall down. The man and the child are behind it. Move!"

To [member="Celessa"], who'd done wonderfully with her lightsaber, and the injured [member="Ciri Jade"], she nodded. "You two don't smell like you have the Force. Unless I'm wrong or you have equipment that's strong enough to take stone walls down, I need you to find somewhere safe to stand. Keep my lightsaber in the meantime in case those fanged shadows thing make a comeback."

Still bleeding, Scherezade moved from her spot and walked deeper into the caverns. She relied on her Blood Hound abilities and the Force, finding the one behind which [member="Srina Talon"] was… Trapped? Standing? She wasn't entirely sure, though she could hear the sound of rocks rolling. The Exarch was either trying to get herself out, or was in the process of getting covered again.

She wasn't going to wait and see.

Grabbing the rolling rocks with the Force, Scherezade screamed as she pulled them all away at once, opening a new hole in the walls. The debris flung around her but she kept her ground, letting them fly by her body and smash into the wall behind her. Well – only the first one smashed. The others, she let fall more gently down to the ground. Dirty and wounded, she looked at the Exarch, and flashed her a smile.

"We're in the process of either getting attacked by shadows with fangs, or having the caverns fill up with lava," she gave her the quick update, "if the other two have released the man and the child, we need to find a way to get above ground, quickly. The seconds are ticking and we're almost entirely out of time."

Then there was one more. The message from [member="Damien Wynter"] came in loud and clear. "Get out of here as soon as you can. If you hear us, find us. I think... I think are going to try to combine our powers to punch the ceiling out of our way."

The plan was already forming in her mind.

Throughout her life, Alwine had imagined her death in various and colorful ways. She had thought on more than one occasion, that her mother would kill her because she was not born a son. She had on more than one occasion, thought one of the Lords who considered themselves playful would kill her just for his own amusement. She had thought, without as much as vivid color, that she would die as she was tortured for the crime of witchcraft on Stewjon. But she had never thought she would die because of lava. That… Had never been on her list.

The construct that she and [member="A'runda"] had made seemed as though it would not hold. But there was no time for them to get away now, no way to hide from the oncoming mud slide that the lava for some reason seemed to be moving even faster now. The lava rushed above their heads and Alwine, along with her mission partner, screamed as her eyes widened. This was it. This was the end. Not even the wolf inside her wanted to come out, to protect her, instead frozen in fear at the sight of liquid fire coming at them. This was the end.

[color=cc2a2a]"Usstan ssinssrigg dos, dalninuks,"[/color] she managed to whisper just before she closed her eyes, waiting to melt into all of it.

But nothing happened.

Alwine opened her eyes, her breath caught in her throat. She was not dead. Or was tis perhaps what death felt like? The continuation of life without being aware that it was over? But she did feel aware. Very aware. And there was a soft blue hue surrounding her.

The petite woman smiled. A protective bubble. She had been in one such as this before, though never by one made by herself. She looked to the direction to which the Force tugged her, and nodded at the woman whom she knew was the cause of this. The woman who had saved them.

Above, things were functioning as normal.

Wasting no time, the Lupine grabbed her comlink. "We've bought this village more time but we need an evac, NOW!"

The lack of medical supplies proved to be an inconvenience at best yet what [member="Alkor Centaris"] had said rang true. They had been cut off from not just the relief teams but effectively everyone else. Ciri watched closely as the hand reached out to touch her injured appendage, offering a nod in response. "Be my gu-.." Cutting herself off the thing that caught her attention was that there was a kid down in these caverns. Why they would be down here, she didn't know but it wasn't safe even without the cave-ins based on the reports. Then there were those.. things.

Though her attention remain locked upon the moving shadows, she returned to [member="Vereshin"]'s previous statement. "Kytra." Ciri said naturally, leaving a surname out on purpose. She was used to giving a false name after years of doing it in order to remain in the shadows of the underworld. Her fingers prepare to draw her blaster only to be stopped as it is mentioned that it would be useless. Left with no other choice, she stays back, having to rely on her hand-to-hand skills if they get close which are weakened by the injury.

Observing the man bouncing around the cavern, and something about his actions and his demeanor made her cautious in a way. Sure, he was an ally but even they could have ulterior motives. Being paired with him, she couldn't argue it. Whether she'd like to admit it or not, she didn't have a way of effectively fighting these creatures off and would make an easier target than the rest. Choosing to fight would be throwing herself into the Rancor pit voluntarily.

Linking her arm with his, Ciri steadied herself. At best, she could use her limited mobility to fight back with his support should any get close. However, without an effective weapon it would be more like a delaying action. In reality, she felt helpless in this situation.

[SIZE=11pt]The skies above the planet were barren, filled only with a thick, black, ashen smoke which continued to billow forth from its surface as Bassadro continued to hemorrhage beneath him. Even out over the horizon, spouts of molten ore and rock were flung violently into the air as smaller eruptions continued to crack and morph the terrain. A truly terrifying series of events had ravaged this place and those that had called it home for so long. Now displaced and separated from what had once been so familiar to them, they were forced to overcome and as such the Confederacy was still here helping in the attempt to quell the savage brutality of the writhing planet. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Still, he flew over the surface, making sweep after sweep with an ever vigilant eye pressed to the displays within the cockpit as Talon’s sensors continued to scan the area, even puncturing down into hardening crust sulfuric crust where previously molten lava and begun to solidify as it cooled. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Another pass was coming to a close to the north of where the larger ground team had sought to assist the maligning villagers in this time of utter famine and catastrophe. But . . . but, something finally pinged back through to the ship. Something different and far beneath the desolate landscape he’d been perform his flyover of. Something quite unlike what he’d picked up on the sensors thus far. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]But what?[/SIZE]

He was intent on treating the wound as best he could, but the situation was not on their side. Things continued to compound one another and create more stress, and for the moment it seemed [member="Vereshin"] had a handle on the needs of [member="Ciri Jade"] . "It's going to have to wait," he murmured quietly as the orders seemed to fly around. The other woman had no rank on him, but that didn't matter. Taking charge of a situation was totally normal for some people. Regrettably, what she asked wasn't entirely possible.

At least, not in the sense that she asked it. [member="Scherezade deWinter"] had called out to the two male Knights Obsidian to respond with the Force. "That's not really how..." he began to explain, then stopped himself. Some people used the Force differently than others. There were people stronger than others in different aspects. Outwardly affected the world was not Alkor's strong suit. There was no point in telling her that, however.

What mattered was that there were other options. Other ways to improvise, and to overcome their current situation. He just had to find one of them. That was what he did excel at. Alkor slowly turned from the girl as Vereshin took her arm, taking a deep draw of air. It was dank, but hot. It reeked of sulfur, and he could feel an oppressive sensation slowly creeping in. Carbon monoxide? Smoke and fire often gave off the unbreathable toxin. It made sense.

What else did he feel?

The world opened up around him as he sank into the Force, one hand outstretched as he reached through the fabric of reality and felt for his prize. Warmth offset itself with other things- fear, uncertainty, pain, distrust- his immediate company, a tumult of emotion. Beyond them, the cripping, painful sensation of the world above, distorting his ability to glimpse the surface...

What he searched for lay someplace between, like a hinge joint where everything came together. It shifted, and everything around it moved. Without it, things fell to pieces, and each individual piece fell into disarray. He followed the strands of sensation back to where they came together, and he exhaled slowly. In his mind's eye, perfect symmetry. Everything around it was perfectly held together, but just the right amount of strain could topple the established balance forever.

His eyes flickered open, and his hand touched the wall.

The world remained still for a moment, but the stone shivered at his touch. Cracks spilled outward from where his finger made contact, and Bassadro itself yawned mightily. He could not reach the world above, nor could it reach back to him- but he could tear the world apart at the seams.

[member="Alden Akaran"] would not see it from above, so much as feel it. The ground broke into a quake, and everything from where Alkor had touched to the surface began to writhe, wither, and churn. A sinkhole. Small at first, but it would not take long for the pilot to see the natural disaster unfold beneath him. Through that, perhaps, a signal might escape.

With Ciri on his arm, Vereshin lead her away from the combat and into a small clearing, where there was a boulder for her to sit on. The air began to feel hot and he whipped out a black handkerchief from inside his coat and dabbed away the layer of sweat which had gathered on the back of his neck. As somebody who had been raised in the ice and snow of Ziost, he still did not react well to heat and felt increasingly uncomfortable as the temperature rose. Motioning over to the b0ulder, he sat Ciri down and released her from his arm, only to be met with a disconcerting orange glow from between the cracks of the cavern.

The lava was coming in, meaning he only had a limited amount of time to collect his subject before they were all incinerated. Vereshin did not have time to follow Scherezade's orders and when the warrior began barking commands at him, he was less than diplomatic than when she had given him orders the first time. Standing in front of Ciri, he looked the woman straight down, baring a hole into her forehead with his brilliant, green eyes. After all, she had ordered him to protect Ciri and he could not do that while he was bringing the wall down to save some man and a kid. The heat rose and the orange glow oozed through the cracks, threatening the ground on which they all stood.

"I came here to catch a shadow demon and that's what I intend to do." Vereshin said to Scherezade, his tone firm and commanding. Cocking his head to the side, he folded his arms as he confronted her, then extended an arm in preparation to cast. "I'll be wasting my energy tearing down a wall to save some brat, but I'll be of much more use to you combating these shadows." He said, motioning the rising shadows. Indeed, if anybody was going to assist in subduing the shadow demons, it was him and he knew that the group would benefit more if he assisted in that part of the plan. Striding past Scherezade, Vereshin reached into his pocket and retrieved the pyramidal glass case, then held it out, with his other hand outstretched and aimed towards the body of darkness rising in the corner of the cavern.

"You tear down the wall, and leave the shadows to me." Vereshin ordered, having no consideration to where Scherezade stood in the scheme of things. "Ciri will be fine where she is." He affirmed. He ran ahead, disregarding the warriors in front of Scherezade and skipped over a trail of lava in the process. With no fear that could be noticed outwardly, he pursed his goal with manic determination, regardless of the danger he was currently in. His coat billowed behind him as he darted forward, the glass case in his hand. With a hand outstretched, he ran straight for the demons, extending his reach through the Force through the dark particles which made them up.

"Bodies of the gathering darkness, submit the matter which forms thee and enter my grasp." Vereshin said, his voice resonating off the walls of the cavern as he recited the spell. The specters froze, immediately withdrawing from the warriors and pinning their focus on him. Isolating one from the mass of them, he drew it into his hold and compacted it into the glass case he was holding. "Lone shadow, reform by my hand and compact, compress within the space I present." Vereshin commanded the shad0w, which shot into the case with a loud yelp, the dark matter making up it's form stretching into a thin spear as Vereshin dragged it into the case. Without a partner with which to meld, the other shadows fell into chaos and began to disperse, their particles growing thinner.

The case in Vereshin's hand felt heavier with the added mass. He lowered his hand, pulling the demon inside with greater force. The matter stretched forward, compacting into a neat pyramidal shape and gathering neatly into the case, where it sat, dense and thick, the black particles swirling around inside the glass. The other shad0ws shrieked with the loss of their partner as Vereshin shoved the case into his satchel and threw his hands forward, preparing to cast again. With the impact, the body of shadows flattened, losing energy fast with the loss of their partner.

"Leave the binds which form thee and dissipate, subdue into the bounds of the earth." Vereshin said, the spell echoing off the cavern. The body of shadows faded with a whimper, growing more and more thin. With a final shove of the Force, he impressed the spell and weakened the particles, tearing the shadow apart. The demons faded away and the parts of them that were left, rejoined with the shadows. Satisfied, Vereshin backed away, then slid his hand into his satchel and rubbed the pyramidal case, smiling with joy.

"Wee! I got my demon!" He cried happily.

Now with the two of them out of harms way so to speak he moved forwards some to the barrier they made. As Alwine was speaking into her commlink he felt the barrier, seeing that it was lukewarm he climbed up onto it to see if they were still in immediate danger.

Looking over their makeshift wall he saw that there was no more incoming lava. The mudslide had cooled it from what he could tell. Looking farther past that there was still metric tons worth of toxic volcanic ash bellowing across the landscape and towards them, and fast. Now that town was for the most part safe from extensive destruction now they needed to make sure the people who lived there wouldn't die from the ash. A thick layer of soot wasn't gonna level a town like the lava would've so A'Runda felt like he'd done his part.

Getting down from the wall he wondered how they could overcome this next issue. "If we're getting an evacu-...ev... an evac we should get out of the city and find higher ground so it can be easier for someone to get us outta here." He said looking down at the petite women. Given how exhausted she was mere moments ago he wasn't sure if she was gonna need assistance. If he felt like she was gonna be to drained to make a run for the hills he would have no issue with swiftly sweeping her off her feet and making a mad dash for the high ground.

The rocks moved. Little by little, the debris seemed to force itself out of the way whilst golden orbs pierced the darkness. She could feel something moving. Something…That didn’t belong. There were many voices mingling together. Some, belonged to the Confederacy, and some, where whispers of fleeting creatures. Shadows. Mysterious entities that for some reason did not like sharing the same space as those trapped by the unexpected cave in.

A man, closer than the others, could be heard looking for casualties. She couldn’t hear her through her comm that was clearly damaged—But she could hear him nonetheless.

‘…Here…’, her mind pulled, reaching, for one [member="Damien Wynter"]. Something blocked her call. A barrier. Epicathix? She snarled in the gloom. She was all but blind without her sight, without Echani eyes to guide her, to see that which would rather not be seen. But…As a Sith? She could see without sight. Some new approached. It took less than a second for her to realize that it was [member="Scherezade deWinter"]. She could taste her presence in the Force and could almost feel the shade of her eyes.

Through their combined efforts the pieces of stone and dirt that had buried her so thoroughly were blown away. She stepped forward as the hidden crow smiled and her head tilted slowly as she took in the quick update and gave a faint nod of gratitude. Srina was intact. A blow to the back of her head was slowly turning moonlit tresses a darker shade, but, few would be able to see it in the dark. The more air she got, the more her head cleared, and the more the Force returned to her with a vengeance. “...We leave. Now.”

The Sith Apprentice did not care how. There were many Force Users that used their gifts in different ways. Srina tended to use them in the bluntest way. There was a certain level of finesse that had been gained through training but she typically worked best by simply going through things. A rather ecstatic voice popped up from the side. A new Knight. [member="Vereshin"]. So, he’d caught one of the monsters? She’d felt his power rise, though, she hadn’t known the intention at the time. “Is that what it is? A demon?”

There was a certain level of emptiness in her tone that most would associate with boredom. There was no fear, no anger, and no sense of urgency. Despite the fact that she’d nearly been crushed, buried alive, there was no sign that anything had removed the glacier cool she was known for. If Vereshin had managed to capture of one of the shadows…Good. Perhaps, it could be of some use.

A wave of something familiar turned her body around. Away from the main group, toward a growing dark, that reminded her of stale ale, dried bood, and hard armor. Grit. [member="Alkor Centaris"]. The ground shook beneath their feet and pieces of the cavernous ceiling began to fall. The heat began to rise. Ah, the lava. Wonderful. “This way…We can collect anyone else trapped as we move.”, the Exarch spoke to the group, not bothering to take command, or order—Simply leading as she was born to do. If they chose to stay behind…It was their choice.

The Force whispered…And she knew. This was the way out.

Somewhere close to where Alkor had created a sinkhole, the air smelled cleaner, and the heat was less intense. Her mother’s child, a chill began to roll from her being, from her core—And the immediate space around her would drop the temperature significantly. Cryokinesis seemed to run in the family. Almost, as well as white hair, pale skin, and silver eyes. “This will do, Knight Centaris.”

It was delicate. A web of rock that could fall in and crush them if disturbed incorrectly. Alkor had done the hard part. All she had to do was apply the force needed to break through, careful enough, to keep from being crushed. The Echani just needed to create a path, to breath fresh air, to avoid being cooked alive. With that, the Exarch began to use telekinesis to press forward, creating a tunnel, that she stabilized by using ice. She did so by actually decreasing thermal energy around them, slowing molecules, so that it would both cool them—And remain frozen long enough for them to escape.

Of course, she left the floor beneath their feet as it was, but, soon enough the group would be able to see light. The surface was right above them.

Scherezade's eyes narrowed as [member="Vereshin"] gave his tantrum. It was one thing to put your personal goal over survival of the group when the situation allowed for it, and by the Force, Scherezade was no stranger to how that felt. Their current situation, however, did not permit that. The man's insistence on capturing one of the shadows instead of focusing on finding the way out meant that as far as she was concerned, he could get buried beneath the next collapse and remain with his stupid little shadow forever.

"It's a shadow with fangs," she answered [member="Srina Talon"] 's question, "and capturing it was more important than finding means of getting out of here." The tone in her voice left little room to question what her thoughts and opinions on the matter were. Vereshin could thank whichever gods he believed in that Scherezade had no rank on him at present, and if she wanted something done she would have to wait until she could meet her sister and tell her of what happened that day.

Frowning, Scherezade said nothing as the Exarch took charge, entirely missing that she had kept the group together and alive for the moment. It was not surprising though; the droids of the Confederacy meant more than the lives that helped support it. They always had. Perhaps the Crow should have gone for the other people who were trapped behind walls. Were it not for the increasing stench of sulfur and rising heat, she might have commented on it. Yet unlike the girl that the Exarch had healed on Monastery, Scherezade knew about priorities slightly better these days. They had to get out of there.

Following Srina, Scherezade… Sighed, and kept herself from following the woman immediately. Instead she remained at the rear, ushering them all outside. [member="Alkor Centaris"], [member="Ciri Jade"], [member="Celessa"], even [member="Vereshin"]. They would not stay behind.

It did not take long before the Fellowship of the Lava broke through more walls, pressed on more forward. They found [member="Vanric Dannon"] and the child that was him, as well as [member="Damien Wynter"]. If there were other Confederates within range, Scherezade could not scent them, could not feel them. All she knew was that the icy path forward was where they were going, leaving the heating temperatures that threatened their backs.

For all it was worth, their group would survive the day.

Of course, they had no clue that rivers of lava were heading straight for the exit point from the mines.

Higher ground. Yes. That sounded like the wise thing to do right then. Breathing hard, she simply nodded to the man. There was no point in refuting what made most logical sense. But could she? Taking a deep breath, the petite blonde nodded a second time, and made to follow the man in the wraps.

It was hard. Harder than she wanted to admit. Alwine was not accustomed to being this trained outside of a training room, and yet she would not permit herself to pause for breath or rest as the two made their way for higher ground.

"I am Alwine Lechner," she remembered to introduce herself as they resumed their climb, "I am an Executor with the Knights."

Damien continued to fight his way solo through the tunnels as lava began to flow through the crevices behind him. His blasters were deadly extensions of his own body, each bolt finding its mark at the dead center of its target's head. At some point or other he felt a presence attempt to probe his mind, though it didn't make it far past his species' natural resistance to mental manipulation.
After a couple minutes and a few spent clips, Damien saw something moving at the end of the narrow tunnel that didn't seem to be a shadow monster. His HUD zoomed in and ran a facial analysis. To his immense surprise, it was [member="Srina Talon"]. Sheesh, his third week on the job and he was already meeting the Exarch of the Confederacy. Albeit under less-than-favorable circumstances, of course.
"Don't worry, I'm a fr-" Damien's heroic "I'm here to save you" speech was cut short as [member="Scherezade deWinter"] blew open the wall next to him, sending him flying sideways into a nearby wall. Of course, everyone's attention went to helping the Exarch rather than the expendable new-ish recruit. He rolled over and pulled himself to his feet, groaning as he stretched his back. The armor had absorbed most of the impact, he'd likely only be left with a bruise or two here and there.
As he wandered his way back to the main group, he caught the tail end of [member="Vereshin"] whining about catching a demon or something. Judging from Scherezade's tone, he assumed the guy was just being a prick. Damien wasn't a fan of pricks, especially ones talking about potentially endangering his friends. And did he just call the Exarch a brat? Ballsy.
"Hey, uh, what's your name? Vereshin? I think I found another one of your shadow demons!" The sassin' assassin then proceed to flip Vereshin the bird, right in front of the Exarch of the Confederacy.
He stuck to the rear of the group with Scherezade as they retreated up the collapsing mine shafts, covering their escape as more and more of the shadow creatures began to pursue them. His uncanny accuracy dropped the enemy left and right, but more and more kept appearing and he was quickly running out of ammo. He hoped the the exit was near, else he'd likely go from being a highly-skilled assassin to a source of nutrients for the local flora within the next couple of minutes if they didn't get out of there fast.

Bassadro had no chance. As the people of the Confederacy continued their work above and below the ground, the volcanoes continues to explode, rivers of lava coming down not only to the village areas where they were in, but to the opposite direction as well. The surroundings areas covering a radius of more miles than anyone present had ever seen before continued to overflow, and for days it would seem that there was no end to any of it.

The Confederate groups that had managed to smash their way above ground, as well as those that had attempted to help the villages and civilians already there, had to be rescued. Giant numbers of Confederate MAATs had arrived on the planet in the nick of time, collecting Confederates and civilians alike.

Yet it was not enough.

Lives were lost, buried beneath heat that no organic could withstand. Homes were lost, farm land destroyed, and ash covered the planet for months.

bAkcDq.gif

Beneath the surface, deep down in the mines of Bassadro, in an area where the lava had not managed to reach, stood a long figure, its long shadowy fingers bending and stretching. It had not had sufficient time to unleash itself at the Confederates that it had trapped down below for a limited amount of time. Its minions had failed in truly harming them. But it was not done. The Confederates would face it and its monsters… Soon. Very soon.

bAkcDq.gif

But the Confederacy did not abandon Bassadro. While they had been unable to properly save the planet, those they had saved remembered them – and remembered the lives that had been exhausted in the attempts to save as many as possible. New mayors were elected for the planet, and with them, a new ruler, that would lead them into a new era. With the new ruler came a new Viceroy, who was assigned to aid the planet as it began to rebuild after the natural devastation.

Much of Bassadro's past is now lost, perhaps for good. But with the Confederacy, Bassadro has gained something that for a moment it seemed they would never have.

A future.
bAkcDq.gif
The story of Bassadro is over, yet as always, Confederates and guests are more than welcome to resume their personal stories.
Bassadro will be featured again in future RP's.
Have fun!

Objective: BYOO (Kill Xurol Roderick and steal Financial information.)

Despite the rampage she had previously engaged in, and its seemingly mindless bloodshed, there was actually a very good reason for it.

Now that everyone thought she was dead with the exception of her new familiar, it would be much easier to infiltrate this place...now they assumed the threat was over and done with.

The biot found her spy gear's camouflage functions had been disabled by the booby-trap, so she was forced to rely on her wits as she snuck through the mansion, bloody and skimpy in attire, her databases allowing her to move silently through the halls, feeling the heat from the sea outside, keeping everything inside not warm enough to sweat, but too warm to be comfortable. She passed through a room full of expensive and exotic looking statues that were mostly humanoid in form, following the route in a computer she had accessed on the way here to Xurol's room. The room itself was tiled in black and gold checkerboard tiles with a metallic shee, support columns of thick stone with veins of red running up to support arches and skylights, through which the light from the magma sea outside filtered in, the clouds of volcanic ash swirling above.

She heard guards and focused, the masquer that made up her flesh twisting and contorting around her, taking on the metallic appearance of a statue next to her. She kept her new state and took a pose in a lotus position, her form only vaguely humanoid now, with stylized swirls and ridges across the surface mimicing the pattern on the metal railings next to her. She looked for all the world to be made of solid brass as she listened to the guards as they walked by.

"You think the shield will hold? I've ain't been holdin' this place down a long time, true, but I ain't never seen it this bad either..." one guard, a Rodian, said to the other, a Zabrak with black and white tattoos. "They're saying they might have to evacuate a good deal of the planet."

"Relax! The power source to this place is buried nice and deep, tapping the geothermal vents. And with all the power being generated that shield is rock solid. The boss prepped, trust me. That shield will hold until the sun this planet orbits goes out."

There was a beep from the Rodian guard's comlink. He answered it. "Yeah boss?"

"Where's Wolfe? I can't raise him...been trying the last fifteen minutes..."

"We haven't seen him, sir." The Zabrak assured him

Xurol sighed on the other end. "Alright. Keep an eye out for him. And someone check on the freezer..."

The biot did some quick calculation. Ten minutes to reach the power distribution chamber, ten back, then another five to reach Xurol...the dossier she had been given had been very specific to the layout...

As soon as the guards moved past her the biot resumed her previous appearance, creeping through the mini musuem to a turbolift at the end of the hall. She took it to the lowest level.

Her body, though the thermal shielding on her spy gear still worked, still felt intense discomfort as she entered the distribution complex, saw thick pipes whistling steam along thick stone walls, specially reinforced transparisteel windows showing thick magma flowing through into a gigantic, square-shaped central reactor that was built into an hour glass like frame, and pipes fed into two other smaller reactors, with multiple offices for monitoring equipment as well as large computer stations built into stylized statues of demons. Guards patrolled the lower floor, while engineers in blue jumpsuits worked at the stations above. The biot ran with the swiftness and silence of a ghost, ducking behind a demon statue as a guard in gold echani armor passed by.

Fighting her hunger, which was growing, she spotted a nearby handhold on a railing above her, scaling the column as a guard passed by the brass railing underneath, hopping over it, sneaking up and quietly snapping the guard's neck and taking his vibroknife before silently sprinting across the catwalk to a monitoring office packed with computers covering seismic disturbances. The office workers were all focused on their equipment, not noticing the bloody, sparse clad red head as she sprinted, rustling only loose papers as her vibroknife passed through the neck of one office worker cleanly, her reflexes and speed kicking into overdrive as she silently spilled the blood of innocent engineers, feeling only something akin to euphoria as she watched the arterial spray occur., soaking her in blood, which only fed her now animalistic instincts as she gave a near silent snarl, tackling an Engineer who wasn't even fully bled out yet, biting savagely into his throat, making him thrash violently for a second before he went dead.

As the biot had her fill, she grinned as she heard one of the guards expressing curiosity at the noise she had made in killing everyone in the room. As the approaching guard from below got in striking range, 'Alice' leapt off the railing, landed and brutally disembowled him hoisting him above her head so the gore and blood could spill into her waiting maw.

Her body detected damage as a shotgun blast from a guard who had spotted her and was now panic firing tore open her side. But as she was drinking blood the wound, full, of white blood and sparking white tissues and organs began sealing and fixing itself as she tossed her still alive victim face first into the guy that had already landed another shot and blasted open her thigh, cracking both their skulls. She sprinted, flipping and weaving over and through the next series of attackers, sustaining another shot that blasted open her right shoulder, nearly severing her arm as she buried her knife with a horrific relish into the nearest guard, laughing as she repeatedly slashed into him, the wounds quickly sealing as she used him as a shield against the others, chucking him forward into them and sprinting as they tried to recover, knife removing a face, then a skull cap as she slashed and stabbed with sociopathic abandon, repeating the process with each new guard in her way. Some tried to call for back up, but her suit jammers once again frustrated this process.

Soon, the reactor room was awash in blood...
