Private Culture of Corellia

Caden let out a sigh.

Exhaustion wasn't the word. He was finally at the end of his adventure, and his last stop was back home. Whilst he spent much of his time of Courscant and had spent many of his previous years on Kashyyyk, Corellia was where he came from. He'd been raised in the halls of the Evesa Family Household, played with different children on the streets after his time in school. All of his childhood friends had been Corellian. Corellia was his birth place and he was proud to be a Corellian.

However, from a young age he'd been raised by the Jedi. He'd been raised with the Jedi Code. His entire life had been devoted to the Jedi, so much so that he'd began to forget his upbringing. Over the many years he'd spent with the Jedi or with the different Force sects, he had began to forget everything that made him a Corellian and began to become nothing but a Jedi Knight. He had found he was no longer a Corellian, he was just a Jedi.

Rediscovering his culture was something that had always interested him. When the opportunity had presented itself, he found it impossible to turn down.

Caden knew the basics of Corellia. He knew that there was a group of Corellian Jedi who referred to themselves as the Green Jedi. He knew of CorSec and how the served as the protectors of Corellia. He had been to Coronet City on a few occasions. Yet that was about the extent of his knowledge, the rest lost to time and replaced with the Jedi Code and his duties and responsibilites as a Jedi.

He had invited Jedi Master Julius Sedaire Julius Sedaire to his property. Caden had heard of the man's reputation, an older Jedi but the very definition of a Corellian. Caden had also heard the rumours that the Jedi was dead, but he was happy to disprove them. If anyone could help the young boy rediscover his culture, he was almost sure it would be the Jedi Master whom had served with the Green Jedi.

And so he took a sip of his drink, and waited.

Though aged, Julius had never really gone away. Some said he was just too stubborn to die. Others, close friends mostly, snickered to his face and said he had simply drank enough over the years he was pickled and couldn't die. But in the last few decades, even that had slowed down. At the end of it all, he was many things to many people. Jedi, Battlemaster, Rebel, Scoundrel, Lover, Friend... But at his essence, he just thought of himself as a Corellian. A simple man, trying to make his way in a far too complex universe.

Though sent young to the Jedi, he had a childhood that was definitively different than young Caden Evesa Caden Evesa . While the Code and the Republic and Order had become dear to him in his youth, he always had (as the saying went) 'rocket fuel for blood'. Finding his wife, a Corellian Mandalorian, and raising a small gaggle of children had only steeped him further in his birth culture, and tinged it with shades of the beskar warriors.

Walking through the temple, the Master looked almost more like a geriatric spacer than any sort of formal Jedi. A spacer's leather outfit with bloodstripe trousers and an emerald green longcoat. The steel tale signs was the lightsaber at his hip, the Jed-Cred dangling on his chest. But curiously enough there also rode a bryar pistol on his other hip, and two rings one with a symbol of the Rebellion and the other with a concentric maze. As he approached the property he slowed and took a moment to check the place out before stepping on the grounds.

Nice enough, certainly not the roughest neighborhood he'd ever been in locally. Checking his pocket for the gift he had brought, he waited as he hit the bell, his silver-white beard and hair combed and trimmed to a semblance of the handsome man he had been in his youth, with decidedly more laugh lines and a few wrinkles.

To teach someone about Corellian culture could be done in an hour, yet take decades.

Rocket fuel for blood, a Corellian saying.

When he was younger, it had definitely applied to him. Less so, the older he had gotten. He was still certainly capable of being impulsive, but recently he'd found himself thinking more about his actions instead of just acting. He didn't like to admit that he was growing up, but he definitely wasn't the child who went on adventures with Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei anymore.

He heard the knock at the door, and rose to greet his guest. He took a few steps, taking a sip of his caff as he did. He'd never used to be one for the drink, but it had recently become his go to fix of choice. He was struggling to get through somedays without a cup of caff in the morning. He really was getting old, and he really didn't like it.

"You must be Master Sedaire, a pleasure. The name's Caden. Could I get you a drink?"

Caden had opened the door to the man, smiling politely and offering his hand. The Jedi Master was older than expected, yet still had the rugged good looks that left Caden believing he would have been quite a looker in his youth. Caden wasn't surprised the man looked older though, especially with everything that he was rumoured to have been through during his life.

The young Jedi gestured into his abode, and invited the Jedi Master to follow him. He went through into the kitchen area to make a drink should one have been requested. If nothing else, he wanted to refill his own cup. He had really become dependant on the brown liquid. Oh well, at least it wasn't alcohol. At least he hadn't become a functional alcoholic.

He carried the drinks back through to the main living area, and took a seat. He put both drinks on the table, and cast his eyes to the living legend currently sat in his living area. It was slightly cool to have Julius sat in his living area, he had to admit that.

"I appreciate you taking the time, Master. It's been too long since I was back home. All I have to remind me of this place is this"

As he spoke, he reached into his pocket and removed the Corellian Jedi Credit that he had been gifted by Okkeus years and years back. It was battered and had clearly been abused throughout it's lifetime, but it was there and it was Caden's reminder of not only Corellia, but Okkeus as well. He placed it on the table and looked towards Julius.

As he took the drink offered, he also took the time to look around the house. To notice the details. Others might have missed tidbits he caught, but the small bits were just as important of pieces to the puzzle of the young man who stood before him as any others. As he sat, and the Jed-Cred was slid across the table, he smiled fondly. Before himself and the League, Jed-Creds had almost fallen out of fashion with the Jedi of Corellia. But it, along with many other traditions of the culture, had come back into fashion as the yolk of the One Sith had been thrown off.

With hardly a word, he sat and sipped the caff, sighing appreciatively and looked at the younger man with a twinkle in his eye that spoke of humor.

"So, tell me... A young coreward Jedi seeks to know more of his heritage, but is mum on the reason. I'm happy to spin stories and teach, but what do you expect to learn?"

With moments like these, the response was all the more telling than the reason. More could be told in the how and why than what the young man would actually say. And that was important. A JedCred was a fine ornament, but hardly made one a Green Jedi. At least not in the former grandmaster's book.

"But what do you expect to learn"

It struck with him. Up until that moment, he thought he would just come in and ask about being a Corellian. He thought it would be that simple. He thought he could just simply ask the Jedi Master to tell him everything. It never actually occured to him to think about what he actually expected to learn. It never occured to him to think about what to ask of the former Grandmaster.

"What does it mean to be a Green Jedi?"

He had sipped his caff before asking the question, taking a moment to think about what he was going to ask. He ran through hundreds of questions in a split second before settling on the question he chose. He figured it was still a fairly broad question however, and he took another sip of caff as he thought of a way to narrow down his question even further.

"In your opinion, what makes the Green Jedi unique to all of the other Order's that have existed in the galaxy?"

Both were good questions. He hadn't really succeeded in narrowing down the first question, but he'd asked a second good question that Julius could choose to answer if he so wished. Caden wasn't going to push the man towards either question, it was up to the former Grandmaster to choose which he wished to answer, if he wished to answer either at all.
