The Imperial Shuttle ramp descended with a quiet hiss, as Treasurer Myi stepped onto the polished durasteel landing pad.

Behind him, a squadron of Novatroopers followed at a respectful distance, their black and gold armor creating a striking contrast against the Imperial banners that adorned the corridor leading into the lounge area of the Aspre Plunge.

The resort was an impressive steel and transparisteel rising to the height of the cliff before descending into the surf and plunging into an underwater ravine that was 100 meters deep. This location would be ideal for negotiating an agreement with Breshig War Forge and Strill Securities, both overseen by Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol .

His knowledge of the man was limited to rumors and hearsay, yet as a Mandalorian, Kyrdol's expertise in warfare was unparalleled and would be quite formidable. A single squadron of Novatroopers would pose little challenge to him if the negotiations were to escalate, but the Galactic Empire possessed the resources to render any resistance highly unprofitable.

It was unusual for the Imperial Government to seek help; however, there were occasions when pride had to be set aside for the greater good. The danger posed by the Alliance and the Lightsworn was becoming more evident, and although the Dark Side Elite were formidable, they lacked the tactics necessary to eradicate the Jedi's leadership.

The lounge was nearly empty at this hour, save for a few well-dressed patrons sipping on exotic beverages. Myi chose a secluded booth near a panoramic window overlooking Spira's glittering cityscape.

He sat with his back to the wall, his gloved hands resting on the table, fingers tapping idly against the polished surface.

A protocol droid glided over, its voice smooth and servile. "May I bring you a refreshment, sir?"

He waved a dismissive hand. "Corellian whiskey." as the droid offered a bow and departed to the service counter.

The New Imperial Order, The Empire, The Dark Empire, The Galactic Empire, The Empire of the Lost, The Imperial Confederation, har'chaak, there were so many of them it was hard to keep track. He had seen so many rise an fall in the course of his life, he'd fought at least two personally and marshalled the might of Strill against at least one other. If the aruetiise were to be believed, they were strongholds of oppression and bastions of various words that didn't have translations into Mando'a.

Shuklaar had led his vode into the service and support all manner of governing bodies during the course of his life; the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Sith Empire, the Rimward Trade League, the Tingel Arm Coalition, the independent government of New Cov and now the High Republic. If there was one thing he learned, it was that the name they gave the means of ruling was just a justification of their right to do so. So long as they left him and his the haran out of it, he could care less. His opinion was not an uncommon one among the Clans of Breshig either.

He had made his deal with the devil, as he'd heard some aruetii put it. His agreement with Arctus Silmar Arctus Silmar had been for the benefit of his people. At no point had he supported or approved of the dar'jetii-led government, and he sure as haran didn't approve of the Galactic Empire either. He didn't have the means to deal with them, but he did have the means to ensure that the Jetii didn't add to this list of force-user led governments. At least the Imperials and the dar'jetii tended to not give an osik about weapons laws and the like, but the jetii, they loved pretending they were morally superior while doing the same things.

It was precisely for that reason that he had agreed to meet with Aggadeen Myi Aggadeen Myi , the Empire was a means to achieving this goal, and the best part was that they were going to pay him and his for it. Only trick was getting this Imperial to accept that if this was going to work, they were going to be largely on their terms, not the Empire's.

From what he had been able to ascertain about the man that he was meeting, he was the Imperial Treasurer. 'Jate,' he thought to himself. He was a man with practical knowledge of administration, and most importantly, a man with direct access to the Empire's credit reserves. This was a man who understood the cost of war, and what it took to keep a war machine running, and from what Shuklaar could see, he was doing a damn fine job at it. This was the sort of man Shuklaar preferred dealing with when it came to non-combatant aruetiise, practical men with little use for the ambling nature of politics when credits were at stake.

While he was not one for opulence or frills, a bar meant ready access to decent enough gal and skraan that didn't require a degree from an academy to know how to eat. It wasn't hard for him to pick out the Imperial from the other patrons who were all casting the whole spectrum of glances in his direction. That of course was thanks in no small part to the squad of Novatroopers with him. A not insignificant part of him was flattered that he'd bothered to bring the more elite of the Empire in place of a less skilled, worse equipped unit.

Shuklaar unsealed and removed his buy'ce as he approached, attaching it to his belt. "Corellian whiskey," he said, recognizing the drink the other man was partaking of pretty immediately. "Good choice," he added as he extended a gauntleted hand forward in a handshake. "But we didn't come here to discuss whiskey, did we now, Mr. Myi?"

Aggadeen was aware of the man's presence before he actually saw him, primarily because the sound of noble and Imperial footwear is distinctly different from that of a respected Mandalorian. Therefore as Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol stood in front of him, clad in Mandalorian armor with his helmet off, it was clear that the man had arrived for business and was ready for any situation, with a finger resting on the trigger should things become unfavorable.

Though the Imperial Treasurer wished to avoid such a scenario because making connections were far more profitable than making another enemy. He did not rise from his seat to greet the man though extended a hand for a moment before speaking as if to guide them into taking a seat across from him.

"I can assure you, I have no intention of debating the quality of this whiskey, Mr. Kyrdol. At least not until our discussion has concluded." He finally extended his hand with a small smile, grasping the Mandalorian's armored hand with his own gloved one. It was a strong, unwavering grip, and Myi returned the favor with a calm determination.

"Though to bring us to our first point. I know of your reputation, Mr. Krydol. You are a man who understands that credits are the lifeblood of the galaxy more so than any witchcraft of the force orders. The Galactic Empire is in need of your expertise." Aggadeen's tone was neutral, devoid of any flattery or condescension. He didn't need to impress this man; he only needed to convince him that the Empire's offer was a mutually beneficial one.

"I believe we both share a common enemy at the moment. The Jedi, and more precisely the Lightsworn, a group of zealots who prioritize dominion over their domain rather than adhering to their own doctrines, however absurd those may be. The Emperor desires their eradication, and the Imperial Treasury is prepared to finance their elimination or, at the very least, the dismantling of their influence."

He was betting that their shared animosity towards the Jedi was stronger than any lingering resentment over past conflicts with the Dark Empire. It was a rare move from an Imperial official, an admission that the enemy of my enemy, is indeed my friend.

Shuklaar sat down, always pleasantly surprised by sturdy furniture. Though he gathered it wasn't made to be able to bear armored bulk alone, but bulk in general. Purging that line of thought from his brain, he quickly refocused on the matter at hand. He listened carefully to Aggadeen Myi's words, plain, matter of fact, with the addition of acknowledgement of what Shuklaar was bringing to the table. This man was a a skilled negotiator, though he should have expected no less from the Treasurer of the Galactic shabla Empire. This was a good sign, it meant that the Empire was serious about this.

"Seeing as you and I understand that it is credits, not witchcraft, that runs the galaxy, I will spare you the talk of the instability caused by the misguided morals of said practioners," said Shuklaar, using the very extent of his abilities in basic to be able to convert what would have directly translated into a very wooden, potentially insulting statement from Mando'a. "We don't usually work for Imperials, Mr. Myi, but these Jedi, these 'Lightsworn' are bad for business, no worse than the Alliance, but even so," he concluded, pausing as he considered his next words.

"So allow me to be candid, I only care about what your Emperor wants so long as he's signing the paycheck,"
he added firmly. Shuklaar learned a long time ago that there was no saving the galaxy. He was willing to overlook the sins of the Empire to keep the Jetii from throwing a hydrospanner into the works with their misguided morality, but there was no way in haran that meant he supported them. The galaxy was in enough of a mess as it is. At least the Empire was smart enough to understand that he and his had a place. The same couldn't be said about the Alliance, i didn't take a shabla genius to see where theirosik'la policies on ver'verde had got them.

"As long as that is acceptable, our terms are fairly simple," he added. "We make use of a lot of anti-force user technology, some of that may affect your own. Operational and strategic planning is yours, however, tactical decisions with regards to carrying out those plans are ours. Data feed sharing is mandatory, if your units lack the capability, we will facilitate this. Any prisoners of war captured by our units are ours to do with as we see fit. We reserve the right to claim up to 25% of battlefield salvage. Finally, we will not take part in force rituals, reprisals or massacres against civilian populaces or slavery of any kind. Are these terms acceptable to you?" said Shuklaar, speaking slowly, clearly and evenly before he reached into a pouch on his utility belt and produced his hip flask of tihaar. He then held it out for the other man to clink and then nodded to the glass of whiskey for emphasis.

Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol spoke with a directness that Aggadeen respected for the moment, as the conditions of their agreement was laid on the table. The Mandalorian reserved the right to distrust the Empire given the known harboring of Mawite Remnants in their ranks and those of the Dark Empire, wit both governments being less than honorable given the circumstances and as he had no knowledge of the man beyond rumors.

He presumed Kyrdol was more honor bound than those of his kin in the Mandalorian Empire. The request to claim a percentage of battlefield salvage and the freedom to handle prisoners of war as they saw fit were predictable demands from a mercenary. However, the refusal to participate in certain actions against civilians and his insistence on tactical autonomy were a bold statement.

The man was a professional, but he was also a man with his own code. Myi took the offered hip flask and clinked it against his glass of Corellian whiskey, the gesture a silent acknowledgment of the terms laid out. He then placed the flask back on the table, his expression maintaining a firm edge.

"Your terms, Mr. Kyrdol, are... specific," Aggadeen stated. "The Empire has a chain of command. Operational and strategic planning are not to be divided normally but I could grant you certain leeway to ignore orders deemed counterintuitive to a successful campaign. That should be a suitable compromise given my authority on the Imperial Ruling Council."

He paused, allowing his words to sink in. "As for the anti-force user technology, we will coordinate our efforts to ensure a minimum of interference with our own operatives. We have a shared goal. To achieve it, we must ensure our forces do not eliminate each other. However, any technology that may affect our personnel will need to be cleared by the Imperial Command as a precaution"

Aggadeen leaned forward, his voice dropping to a low, more serious tone. "Regarding battlefield salvage, we will agree to your 25 percent. However, all prisoners of war specifically Jedi and Lightsworn will be handed over to the Imperial Intelligence services for interrogation. After our interests have been satisfied, we will provide you with a stipend equal to what your people would earn from a successful auction. As for civilian reprisals, the Empire does not condone such actions, provided the populace remains compliant. Our objective is to bring stability, not to sow rebellion."

He lifted his glass of whiskey and took a slow sip before returning his gaze to the Mandalorian.

Shuklaar listened carefully, studying the responses one by one. Not a no, by any means, that meant there was a point to elaborating further. Of course, he was perfectly fine with some of the modifications in terms, others...well, he was hoping that he could clarify things that might result in a seamless acceptance of them. "We have no intention of taking Jedi alive, Mr. Myi, though we have the means. Rest assured, the Empire will have it's Jedi." Live force sensitive prisoners were far more trouble than they were worth, that much was true, If the company took any of them alive, he'd be happy to turn them in to the Empire. Turn them in for credits? Well, that was just good business.

"As for our anti-force user technology," he continued, pausing for a moment to consider his words. "Rest assured, the Empire is far from the first client with force users that we have contracted with, I'm not saying there will be an issue, merely reminding you that the possibility though remote, exists." That was not necessarily entirely accurate. While they didn't purposely deploy technology that would affect allied force users, if it came down to his vode and some dar'jetii, it was going to be his vode every single time.

"Finally, I appreciate the leeway you're offering us. I'll have a full brief on our technology delivered. Imperial Command can determine whether they find anything particularly...distasteful," he said, holding his gaze momentarily to gauge reaction. "A remarkably agreeable negotiation. If only more of our non-corporate clients were like yourself Mr. Myi." Naturally he was being polite, but more than polite, he was saying what he had observed. Not that had any real problems with non-corporate clients in the past, though off late it seemed that large governmental clients were just too shabla hard to come by. Not that they were easy to deal with once they had completed negotiations either.

Aggadeen raised an eyebrow as Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol stated that they were not in the business of capturing Jedi alive, a realism that he had to respect. After all, detaining force users as prisoners was a perilous endeavor, as not everyone was resistant to mental manipulation and the immense power they could unleash in an instant.

The proposal to hand Jedi over to the Empire in exchange for a stipend was a clever negotiation tactic on his part, as credits were the driving force of the galaxy, and he had no desire to dispute with someone who recognized this reality, as that would be unwise. He noted the man's careful choice of words regarding the anti-force user technology.

The veiled threat, the subtle reminder that his loyalty was not with the Galactic Empire. Myi had heard similar speeches from other mercenaries, but this one was different. It was an honest assessment of a potential problem, not a threat.

The man had a code, and while it wasn't the Empire's, it was within the aims of the Galactic Emperor and that was all the Grand Vizier would care about in the grand scheme of things.

"We have no intention of taking Jedi alive, Mr. Myi, though we have the means. Rest assured, the Empire will have it's Jedi." Live force sensitive prisoners were far more trouble than they were worth, that much was true,

Myi simply nodded in response. The Mandalorian's promise to deliver Jedi bodies or, in the rare instance of live capture, to turn them over to the Empire was sufficient. The Imperial Security Bureau was not concerned with the physical state of the Jedi so long as their intelligence could be extracted. The stipend, in Myi's mind, was a small price to pay for the bounty on the Jedi's heads.

"As for our anti-force user technology," he continued, pausing for a moment to consider his words. "Rest assured, the Empire is far from the first client with force users that we have contracted with, I'm not saying there will be an issue, merely reminding you that the possibility though remote, exists."

The man had a point, and Myi had no intention of arguing with him over it. The Imperial Security Bureau would review the brief and make a decision. If they found the technology to be a liability, they would either alter their own strategies or decline the partnership. It was as simple as that.

Myi."

Myi simply took another sip of his whiskey and gestured with his glass toward the panoramic window. "The Galactic Alliance has been losing ground for months. They are predictable, their leaders are too comfortable in their positions, and their strategies are stale. The Empire, however, is a new power, with new blood, and a new plan to secure the galaxy. The Lightsworn are a problem, but they are not the only problem."

He set his glass down on the table with a soft click. "The Jedi will be a primary target, but the war with the Alliance will continue. Your people will have no shortage of opportunities to prove their weight in credits, Mr. Kyrdol. Though before we sign our little agreement, there is the matter of Marlon Sularen. The cowardly admiral currently in league with the Imperial Confederation. Perhaps if you aren't to busy, your starships could end this little tinpot dictator if they make an appearance..."

Sularen. That name had crossed his desk more times than he'd like. It was almost like every time some new osik was about to start in the galaxy, Sularen was there. The number of times the company had engaged either him or his forces directly was a frustratingly similar number. Nyles had been itching to personally put that problem to rest for a long time now. "It'd be our genuine pleasure," he said almost immediately. He was tempted to offer to deal with that problem for free, but they might as well get recompensed for all the ordnance they'd slung his way before he managed to slip away before, not to mention what it would take to finally squash that problem.

"While we're on the subject, are there priority targets you wish neutralized?" he added. It was a notable lament among Strill's officers that the art of military warfare seemed to be a dying one, scant few notable, capable commanders remained. Shuklaar was less in tune than his cadre of advisors, but he still had a finger on the pulse of the matter such that was in the very least somewhat familiar. Of course, none of them were getting any younger, implants cheating age or not. That fact, however, gave him confidence that should there be anyone the Imperials needed dealt with, that would not be a matter that required much consideration or effort, not much more than usual in any case.

"How soon does the Empire require that we commence operations?:" he asked, seemingly nonchalant and only mildly interested in the answer. Truth was, this was going to convey two things. One, how urgent was the need in the Empire. Two it would give him an idea of just how many more units could be given the new implants and could afford to have their vehicles and starships taken in and given complete overhauls. While not prone to seeking to maintain their forces at the 'bleeding edge', the edge did require honing every now and then, and it was approaching one of those times.

Aggadeen watched intently as Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol kept a impassive expression when Admiral Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen was mentioned. The man represented a thorn in the side of Imperial stability, a bothersome issue that needed resolution, and a disappointment in numerous respects, as the Imperial cause had never thrived under their leadership of the Imperial Navy.

However, their ability to evade death at every possible turn was somewhat remarkable, and such luck would surely serve him well in the Imperial Confederation's ranks. It seemed the Mandalorian took it personally, as the man did not question why the Galactic Empire needed him eliminated or what resources they had at their command to make it an easier hunt.

It mattered little if the engagement was a personal vendetta only that the Mandalorian did as instructed and accepted without hesitation.

"The Jedi will be a primary target, as we have an entire list of Lightsworn individuals that need to be hunted down and eliminated. Though we will provide additional credits for confirmed kills on the battlefield as well as any recovered technology that the Empire might reverse engineer." The Treasurer's eyes never left the Mandalorian, wanting them to glance at the list and see if they could handle a challenge.

The payout was not as substantial as some of the other major bounties on the board but it was enough to live comfortably and in an ever-changing galaxy, comfort over wealth was deemed the most suitable way to avoid the attention of the major powers.

"The Empire requires your services as soon as you can provide them, Mr. Kyrdol. The war with the Alliance is in a critical phase, and the Lightsworn are a nuisance that needs to be dealt with immediately. We will fund your operations, and we will provide you with the intelligence you need. Your payment will be delivered to you upon the completion of your objectives." He leaned forward, taking one last sip of the whiskey before him.
